Yet again, Agu-Amede in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State has come under heavy attack as armed men said to be herdsmen have invaded Imamamaru village. The assailants killed two villagers and injured several others. The bandits also burnt about four houses, SaharaReporters learnt on Tuesday. SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday, some days after a similar attack at Isiado village which left two people dead. SaharaReporters reported on Monday that bandits suspected to be Fulani herders launched an attack on a community in the area, killing one person. The recent attack in Isiado and Imamamaru villages has forced people to flee their homes. Aged women, pregnant and nursing mothers and children are being relocated to neighbouring communities and villages which are safer, a community source told SaharaReporters on Tuesday. A community leader, Ephraim Ogbu, who confirmed Saturday’s incident to SaharaReporters, decried the unprovoked attacks. "The second attack at Imamamaru Agu-Amede after killing those two people at Isiado Agu-Amede. Our people are currently living in danger," he said. "A young man who is currently lying in a hospital bed was inside his house at Imamamaru village when the invaders launched the attack. Immediately he ran out of his house, they grabbed him and macheted him. You can see what they did to him. We don't know whether he will survive it. How can someone stay in his house and a foreigner will attack him and want to still live in that community? "We learnt that the herders engaged soldiers deployed in Eha-Amufu when they were patrolling the community. So, the soldiers engaged and overpowered them. They retreated and when the soldiers left, they launched the attack on innocent residents." SaharaReporters reported on January 3, 2024 that gunmen suspected to be herders had launched an attack on Agu-Amede community in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu, killing two young men who were there for Christmas celebration. It reported that communities in Eha-Amufu town including Agu-Amede, Mgbuji, and Abor witnessed large-scale attacks in 2021 and 2022 by herders in collaboration with militias from Benue State. Efforts by SaharaReporters to get the reaction of the spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, failed as he did not answer his calls or respond to a text message sent to him. danelson007:Update: Thanks to the mod for doing the needful. Back to the topic, Otti is a useless governor. Rather than pay the arrears of workers of Abia state, he wasted the money on food and instead recruited people like danelson to come and defend him online. Lol so I should worry about my own governor now. But any little thing in Lagos, you people that live miles away put mouth like say Abia share border with Lagos. Again, Otti is a complete failure and a compound thief. |
Elupeeeeeeee74! To think the clownn of a governor spent over 900million on food, yet he can’t pay workers arrears.

The academic and non-academic staff unions of Abia State University, ABSU, have embarked on strike over the inability of the state government to pay their members’ outstanding 11 months salary arrears. The workers had, through their various union leaders, given the management of the institution December 31 as deadline to pay off the salary arrears, or face industrial action. The Nation reports that the students of the institution have not yet resumed studies after the Christmas and New Year holidays due to the ongoing industrial actiion. The ASUU Chairman in ABSU, Chidi Mbah, confirmed to the Nation that the industrial action was due to the 11 months salary arrears owed to members of the union. “We are on strike based on numerous issues, especially because of the unpaid 11 months salary arrears. “It cuts across 2011, 2012, and 2022. Although since the incumbent government has come to power, they have been up and doing; they have been releasing subventions for the university to augment. “However, we know that the subvention isn’t enough because the wage bill is about ₦320m while the state government releases ₦100m per month which was what he inherited from his predecessor. “But since he (Otti) came onboard, he has been releasing that money regularly but we have a deficit of ₦220m. “Since the assumption of the new government, we have not been owed salaries per se, although the December salary was paid some two weeks ago; some have received, while others are yet to receive theirs. “Government is a continuum, we have already written both the state government and the management since September 26. “We told them that we would down tools if nothing was done till December 31. That was why we now embarked on the strike.” Source: https://dailypost.ng/2024/01/22/abia-varsity-lecturers-embark-on-strike-over-11-months-salary-arrears

coputa:You’re correct. Until India take a stance, these things won’t stop. Almost every year, over 1000 Nigerians are arrested in India alone for drug trafficking and yet it does not seems like it is going to stop soon. |
coputa:I think the drug business is booming in India and some Nigerians are using the “get rich or die” mentality to make what they can make out of it. At 38 years, he will be condemned to prison and other people will now enjoy the fruit of his hard labor. |

mokwechineme:lol poor boy. Have you even eaten today because Obedients are hungry kids just like Obi mentioned. You better talk now so we can give you food. |
Peak fooling is like a trait to the clan of Achebe. Shimamananda the bigot can go ahead to say Obi is the World President as she want but I’m sure the people in the room will laugh at her stupidity. Make Obi attend UN gathering with UN seal or make he command the Nigeria military make we see. If wishes were horses, beggars will ride. I can also go in the midst of my friends and tell them my father is Nigeria president. Will they believe me, no, because they know I’m fooling around. |
DMerciful:Because President Tinubu is magnanimous. |
No source. |
DMerciful:Who will destroy them? If Obi is arrested, heaven won’t fall. He go tey for Kuje dey drink watery beans. |
He suppose drop his bank account too so that the headless mob go donate for this confidential information that the investigative journalist unraveled. |
DMerciful:That’s an Ibo man. Tinubu is an Ibo man and that is why he is a drug trafficker. |
Kevineleven:That’s a pipe dream and this is why politicians deceive you. How can any sane person think dollar will go from $1 to 150 just like that when we are such an import dependent country. FG is not wasting our money defending dollar again and to build our manufacturing and export power, it takes some few years. So what magic will you use to take dollar to $150 within 2 years? |
All this exchange rate in Nigeria is just some people turning it off and on like it’s some toy switch. I sense serious sabotage. |
DMerciful:Tinubu is not an Ibo man nao. Na only Ibo people be criminal drug baron. 98% of all drug arrest of Nigerians are From Ibo people. |
DMerciful:Yes he just advised the president on trying to be fair with appointment. Asari never claimed Tinubu is not his president nor does he go about insulting Tinubu or crying bitterly that Ijaw nation was betrayed. |
