Visa approved this morning, 7 am.

To God alone be all the praise!!! To all the great minds in here, thank you for your selflessness and labour of love.

I arrived early enough to go through all the protocols. Calm, collected and confident in His Grace. All the studying and research I had done went back stage and I allowed God take fore and centre stage as only His Favour and Grace mattered at this point.

VO: Good morning how are you?( with a beautiful smile)

Me: Good morning( smiling politely ) I am very well thank you. How are you as well?

VO: Fine thanks for asking.

VO: Why are you going to the United States?

Me: I am going to study for my Masters Degree at Western Illinois
University.

VO: Why this school?

Me: Apart from being rated to be one of the best mid-western and regional universities, the communications department faculty professors invest time in being readily accessible to graduate students. These professors, I also discovered during my search are organisational communications consultants for a number of national and international organizations and so I believe they will present real life practical experiences whilst teaching.  The curriculum at the Communications department is tailored to achieving, effective organisational communications across disciplines.

VO: Tell me your study plan.

Me: During my study I will complete a total of 33 semester hours of course work and thesis. I will be completing 27 semester hours of course work with four core courses and 6 semester hours of thesis work.

VO: what was your first degree?

Me: I graduated with B.Sc Geography from the University of Lagos. My choice of study was Business Administration. I had been admitted on Merit to the faculty then but a policy change at the time made me unable to enrol. I was then offered Geography. I have since after graduation returned to my passion. I have also had trainings in Communications and a professional certification in marketing communication

VO: How many schools did you apply to?

Me: I applied to five(5) schools.

VO: Which Schools?

Me: The University of Alabama, The University of San Francisco, DePaul University, Grand Valley State University and Western Illinois University.

VO: How many acceptances?

Me: I have gotten acceptance from all five schools ma’am.

VO: Why are you choosing to study Communications?

Me: ( Smiling sweetly) This graduate degree will be leveraging on my experiences since the last 7 years in communications , It will also increase my skills  and teach me to master methods of effective organisational communication across disciplines. This type of skill is in huge demand. A lot of companies here outsource this skill because it's professional expertise and skill supply is still very low. I intend to learn this skill using global best practices that can be modelled for use here.

VO: ……Nodding and nodding typing and typing.
Did you take any tests?

Me: I wrote the TOEFL test and was prepared to write the GRE however, these schools waived the requirement due to my professional experiences. Western Illinois in particular requested that I submit a five paged scholarly writing sample. This was submitted and approved.

VO: Are you married?

Me: Yes Ma

VO: Do you have children?

Me: Yes ma, I have two children.

VO: Congratulations on that.

Me: Thank you ma.

VO: Will you be travelling with your children?

Me: No ma. They will remain here with my husband. My mother lives with me as well as a live-in nanny.

VO: She nods as though satisfied with my answer and then asked “ Have you travelled before?”

Me: Yes Ma. I have visited London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Accra and recently, the United States.

…..She then requests for my other passport and examines them.
VO: Are these visas work related?

Me: No ma, I went on vacations.

VO: I'll be approving your visa. She hands me the victory paper and tells me I'll be contacted to be informed where to pick up.

Me: Thank you ma. Have a pleasant day.

To all those still hoping for their miracle, I pray that God blesses your hard work and grace your life with a beautiful testimony.

I applied in University of Manitoba last night and surprisingly #32016 Was removed from my account.

I thought one Canadian Dollar is #240?
I was expecting them to take 24,000 and they took 32,016.

I wanted to apply to two universities with #50,000 Now university of Manitoba has taken more than 50% of that money.

When did 1 Canadian Dollar turn to #320.16?

I'm guessing you paid with your master card right? Well, I believe banks have different (competitive) rates that they transact with their clients intending to use ATM/Master card for foreign payments. The official bank rate is generally 240. That is for dealing with CBN through your bank.

Arcayo:

1. You have to include the UCI number on your refusal letter.
2. No other code, just indicate you have been refused Visa before

Many Thanks Arcayo!

Hello house, I have a question for those that are re-applying or any one knowledgeable In this area.

1. In filling the application for study permit form made outside of Canada, do I leave the UCI number section vacant or fill the UCI number received on the refusal letter?
2. Are there other important Information with regards to codes or numbers that must be lifted from a previous application?

I applied online initially. I am planning on taking the paper route this time.
Please assist. Thanks in advance

I was delayed. I received an email last weekend. To God be all the glory!!!( Purpose of study and Current employment situation)

Please friends, I have learnt a lot from you helping others. I hope I can get some support from the house. I have decided to change my study program to an MBA and re-apply for the Winter Semester. My question is how do I re-present and re-process my application with my current situation as I really do intend to study. I have 8 years work experience as a brand specialist and now convinced that the PGD was not the better choice of study. I have identified schools that can accept 2.2 and I am ready to do this!! Kindly help me with the convincing info/guide to prove my intention to the VO.

I would appreciate objective thoughts so that others in this similar situation can find a way around theirs...... My very distinguished elders (you know yourselves grin .) I look forward to putting to very good use your advise. Congrats Arcayo! smiley

Good morning wonderful intellectuals. I have been a part of this insightful innovation silently, and have read through the threads...happy to make my debut post smiley
I applied online and completed my biometrics on the 24th of May in Lagos. I am yet to receive the call for my medicals as well. I applied for PGC Marketing at TRU, kamloops. Studied Geography, however have worked as a brand marketer and specialist for the past 8 years. I finished with a 2.2 hence my decision to go for PGC. My application also gives the updated feedback on my profile. I ought to be in school on the 31st of August and resume fully on sept 7th.
Please can I get advise on what to do now. How to go about it.i read up somewhere that I am late.....but I don't think so as I still have about 5 weeks to appointment date of reporting to school and I am quite optimistic of God's favor. Please advise....God bless.
