Published on October 10, 2013 by Chief Coach of Ethiopia, Bishaw Sewnet has vowed to teach the Super Eagles of Nigeria some football lessons when both teams clash Sunday in the first leg playoff of the Brazil 2014 World Cup. Both countries clash Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Sewnet is already talking tough ahead of the tie. He said his wards are battle ready for the star-studded Nigerian team. Speaking from Ethiopia on a radio programme monitored in Lagos Thursday morning Sewnet disclosed that his players are in the best frame of mind going into the tie. Sewnet, who was reappointed to the position after the resignation of Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet said he is not making an empty threat going into the cracker as his players have all resolved to give in their all to ensure that they upset the Nigerians come Sunday. According to him: “It is football, Nigeria is a force to reckon with; no doubt about that, but let me tell the Nigerian team that they would be taught some football lessons when they visit Addis Ababa on Sunday.” On injury worries in his camp, he said there is no cause for alarm as all the players in camp are injury free. “Except for some knocks, all the players here are doing well and they are all looking to the clash with great expectations,” Sewnet assured. Meanwhile, leader of Nigeria’s advance party to Ethiopia, Barrister Christopher Green has told the Super Eagles and Nigerians who may have plans of coming to Ethiopia to be prepared for hostile reception on arrival in the country. Green, Technical Committee Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF informed that the Ethiopians are leaving nothing to chance in ensuring that they make Nigerian’s stay in the country terrible. He said on arrival in the country the hosts have not been friendly to anybody of Nigerian descent because they are hell-bent on making it to the World Cup. Green added that the playing turf of the venue of the match may hamper the free flowing football style the Eagles are known for, “The football pitch that is the Eagles would be playing Sunday’s match could best be described as a grazing ground for animals. Not a bad one for Nigeria, but we can only underestimate any team at our own risk. Be that as it may, I see Nigeria qualifying. |
Only 53? I thought we are about 160 million people, why not order 160 million units and let every Nigerians have one as a souvenir to remember 'the best President Nigeria ever had' and to celebrate the 'great' developments the country has witnessed over the last 53 years (of course, we can afford it). And at least, amid hunger and abject poverty with the infrastructure decadence, we can be happy that we have a gold-plated i-phone. May God deliver this country from bad leadership. |
Quite interesting story to read and so many lessons to learn, but I wonder why the interviewer(s)did not ask a follow-up question about how he became a muslim (or if he was a muslim from the beginning)because he mentioned going to church on Sundays and studying CRK in school and Governor Fashola that we know is a devout muslim. No religious sentiment about this, just another aspect of his life that might be interesting to know. |

Hello poster, am also an applicant of the institution for HND programme. Two different people called me last saturday from ibadan to inform me that it was announced on because that applicants should start checking their names from today and they can start the payment of N4,000 acceptance fee immediately. I ve checked their websites today, theres nothing yet, but am sure the info about the announcement is true. so, probably, before the week runs out it will be available on the net. For the school fees, it has not been announced, they just released the fees for the returning students on the website. But acceptance, as announced is N4,000.00 |
I think its law of diminishing returns that sets in. This probably occurs in everything u think u enjoy or value, at a certain stage, the interest begin to wane down. It is only through the Grace of God and the children/child bond that u see couples staying together till death do them part. This is because the love can never be as strong is it was in the days of courtship. |
To you Ooduas in the house, ever heard any yoruba adage or proverb or sayings that interest you or keeps you thinking again and again, pls post it here and tell us the meaning for those who might come across it for the first time. I just heard this one from an elderly person: "Bi iso iya o ba run, o ye ki ti omo o le ta sansan" meaning, if ur parents or elderly ones could not make it in their time, u as a younger one should struggle to excel. It is used to correct young men and women who are indolent. |
I think its just shere discrimination, to my own knowledge and based on evidences I have at hand, Polytechnic students are far better than their university counterparts. Ask me why? Polytechnics are more practical based compared to universities. I also had an opportunity of working with some fresh university graduates, who were on their youth service then, while I was having my 1-year IT after OND, it was then I realised that we are more better than them, because a lot of them could not perform on the field, and few of us that were polytechnic IT students were the ones putting them through. Albeit, am not trying to generalize, but based on what I have seen, I can never agree that university graduates are better than their polytechnic counterparts, its just people's tilted mentality. I am fortunate to be a polytechnic graduate and I can proudly say I attended one of the best Polytechnics in the country, which is the polytechnic Ibadan. GREEEEEAAATEEEEEEEEEEEST POLYYYYYYYYYYYYTES!!!!!! |

To my knowledge, the only certificate at par with OND is the National Ceretificate in Education (NCE). Not even Diploma courses offered by some Universities, because you cannot get a job with it, its only for you to gain Direct Entry to the University after completion. So, its better u go for your OND if u intend to, or NCE. Best of luck. |
