The smallest camp gas is 800naira to refill go and do your findings

im
chigoizie7:
In a country were more than 70% of its citizens live below $1 per day, now, tell me how they can afford to buy gas and den refill when they can barely buy the food stuffs that will be cooked on that gas. these people can not afford a 2 square meal per day, na gas dem go come buy, majority of these people live in a 1room apartment, na gas be dere priority?

Please were do u refill ur own gas for 8hundred naira? Becaue I know how much I refill my 8kg with. + I can last me 3months, btw, I only boil hot water with it, apart from d hot water, I cook on the average of 10times per week. Now imagine a family of 6 (this I for rich and average family) because dose kind poor people de born upto 8kids,some na 6kids u now come add the papa and mama, ee go come be 10 or 8, and these people will try to eat like 3tmes per day meaning that bad as ee bad, them must cook @least 3times per day,+ warming of food, assume u re cooking 2cups of rice for 10mins, how long do u think it will take to cook 10cups of rice so that it will @least serve the large family? The longer it takes, the higher the qauntity of gas consumed.

Now as an average naija family that I come from, my parents spends upto 5k on gas per month, I don't live with them, my 2sisters are married, my younger bro does not lve with them, yet they consume that much.

Tell me how many families can afford to use gas in naija? Or u think we no get sense? No one likes to waste or suffer, if gas is affordable to all, I bet u, many people will use it. But its not, and they make do with what is available and affordable, its as simple as that.

Let me not talk of electric stove earlier mentioned because u and I know the situation of power in this country, so, don't even go there.

Consider your health too. Buying firewood from the market and carrying it long distances on your head to the place you want to cook is stressful and damaging to your joints.

Beding down to start breaking or piecing the firewood is another health hazard then setting it together with the charcoal and then preparing the foodstuffs and transferring it to the pot.haba!

it's not worth the stress and your health. One log of wood is heavy on its own talk more of carrying several logs of wood on your head to your destination sad

I am not judging anybody and I can never because we are what we are BY THE GRACE OF GOD

I shouldn't be saying this but because I need you to understand I will say it

on my way to work very early in the morning around 6.30am I saw a woman around our estate checking through the dustbins in front of houses and I had to call the security and ask him how and why did he allow this woman enter here. He said he didn't know that he's sorry. He left the main gate opened and slept off in his cubicle because he didn't have a sound sleep. Then I told him to search her because I'm aware ritualists are on the prowl stealing used pads etc

there was nothing dangerous on her. I then asked the security to go and asked her why she's busy searching dustbins she said she's looking to see anything useful for her to sell because she's hungry.i was touched because she was carrying baby at her back and so I went to give her a hot plate I'm not using again. Of course I know she can't use it
I gave her to sell and some of the clothes I don't wear with 2k.she knelt down to thank me as if i gave her the world. I know it meant much to her

I don't know her from Adam but I know I touched a life. Therefore don't say what you don't know

Please reread my post. I have edited it and added some things to it

in addition the environment these foods are prepared with firewood is not clean

I have watched them closely. Many firewood practitioners cook with high disregard for hygiene

Stove doesn't hurt the eyes if you set it properly and the fire is moderately set.

inverters are available and affordable for electric cookers

oya give more excuses

firewood isn't hygienic because you have to cook it outside and the public air is highly filthy and toxic.while tasting the food and leaving raw food outside to pour inside pot you are exposing the food to lots of bacteria. Meanwhile you can catch food borne diseases from there

Bottom line is if all mothers can think like you the world will be a better place

These same men in Nigeria, suddenly develop pecs when they travel out and you see them pushing buggy and shopping for chicken and bokoto at the market.
How many of us here have housemaids?
At most people have cleaners who come once a week for a few hours . . and thats even a luxury.
How do we survive here? We survive because all hands are on deck

yesterday during my evening walk, a man drove past us. A few metres up the road, he was getting his baby out of the car and carrying baby in car seat and balancing babys bag. Maybe his wife is at work. Baby needs to be picked up, so who else to do it but him?

Its the mentality that needs to change.
Train the boys to be useful and house trained. If they have been trained well from the onset, then they wont have a problem rolling their sleeves up and starting dinner if their wives are stuck in traffic.
its a vicsious circle and we need to stop it. Charity begins at home and a boy brought up to be tidy, can cook and be houseproud, will not put his feet up on the table while his wife is sweeping unfer his feet.

Child labour is when you slave under aged children and abuse them.

Some mothers are aware that their teenage sons are raping the house Maids and will turn a blind eye to it but the moment she gets pregnant they evict her without giving her 5naira or care about her welfare. That one is child abuse

but in a situation where you have an agreement between the parents of the child that I want your daughter to work for me from age 11-17.ill send the monthly salary to the parents and the parents help the child to save money for school fees and other things she will need in school. So as soon as she turns 18 she can leave your house and go to school. That is a form of employment not labour and you treat her like a worker including feeding her.

However you know nigerians like abusing things a lot. It was nigerian mothers that basterdized this house help thing that now made it look like child labour especially those who press hot iron on the back of children or pour pepper in their vaginas
cococandy:
Do you even know the meaning of vulgarity?
Because this one doesn't match your opinion, it is vulgar Abi. Were there any cuss word or censored words in that post.

This your opinion is like saying there's nothing wrong in slave trading and expect to be lauded for it. I can't sugarcoat how annoying it is so pls forgive the directness. You expect me to tell you "Oga pls ejoor child labor is not good"

If you don't see anything wrong in hiring children to work for you--a situation in which they have no choice but to go with whatever you and the seller decide to do with them, there's no gentle way to tell you except bluntly.

Child labor is wrong
It is wrong
It is wrong
Wrong wrong wrong.

Many people didn't know better and used to do it. Can't blame them. But that time has passed. I'm surprised all the campaign of child's rights organizations all over Nigerian is not affecting that many people. Now anyone who's doing it can't claim ignorant.
What will happen before that will change?

It's disheartening that you're a young man who should know better.

By all means, dislike adult maids if you want but the solution is not using children instead. Prepare your mind to work with your partner and keep your home as you want if you can't hire an adult maid.
Family › Re: When your maid becomes the madam. by SAMBARRY: 7:25am On Aug 13, 2015
And you're talking as if you are not a Nigerian living in Nigeria

1.how many husbands will WILLINGLY join their wives in doing the house chotrs without the I'm the head of the home How dare you
2.coming back from work and having to deal with traffic and other hassles before you get home nko? At least the house maid will have prepared something for you to eat a bi will you start microwaving food you kept in the freezer
I'm not against house helps . It's not wrong as long as you pay them and treat them with dignity. They are also employed workers. It's child labour when you use them, don't pay for their services, abuse them and throw them out when they start developing hips etc

however they're necessary evils. You can't do without them in our own peculiar society
tearoses:
What we should be encouraging is partners doing things together, so there wont be any need for maid in the first instance. it kills 2 birds with one stone.

If oga rolls up his sleeves and pulls his weight in the home, There will be no need for maid and it bonds the couple together . . infact 3 birds because it means that one party is not fagged out, stressed and too tired and looking older than her years.

If you clean up after yourself and are considerate about your partner, there is really no need for a maid.

I know that I will be told that in Nigeria maids are required, but there are some homes, where with good planning and all hands on deck, there is no need for a maid.

The only thing I agree with in the posters write up assuming we are saying the same thing, is that people should not give opportunity for temptation where possible. . . .
Years ago I fought on this section saying that people should be able to fight all forms of temptation and win. ..I am older and wiser now.
Id rather not even put temptation on the plate if avoidable.
Ive seem too many people fall to all sorts of temptation. . . Even men of God have been known to fall.
Even to follow a diet, I know how much we struggle when we are tempted with sweet smelling and nice looking food.
In short dont even give that oppourtunity if it can be avoided.
Pls no one should misunderstand me o! cool I am not saying that men must/should/can/programmed to cheat/cant help but cheat bla bla bla. I am looking at the bigger picture and this includes both sexes.

And NO NO NO to child labour. . . .Biko. It is very wicked and should not be tolerated.

grin grin grin

you have stepped on toes tremendously grin

kanwuliajara come and see what I'm seeing grin
Jenny1010:
Most people often think that rape is only when there is an element of force, coercion or threat on the victim. The law says any person who had sexual intercourse with a girl without her consent has committed the offence of Rape. This means having sex with a sleeping or intoxicated girl had amount to rape. Some guys even stupefy a girl's drink in other to have their way. This type of rape is often difficult to prove absent of consent, thereby most girls don't even bother to launch a complain to the police.

My Story ( The trick)

This guy had been asking me out for sometime, yesterday evening I decided to give him a shot. He took me to a nice bar somewhere around town. As we got seated, he ordered for a bottle of alcoholic wine. I told him I don't have a head for alcohol (which is a lie), that a little sip might make me tipsy (big lie), except he will promise to take me home if I get tipsy. He promised me that he will take me home. As we got drinking, this dude keep telling me how much he love me and want me to be the mother of his unborn kids, and that he will never hurt me, that I should give him a chance blah blah blah... He looked so innocent, charming and convincing. I told him to give me sometime to think about his proposal.

After emptying several glass of wine, at a point I decided to start the trick to test him, I started acting like I was drunk. I started talking out of point, dangling my head and making awkward hand gestures. He was convinced that I was drunk, yet he was still persuading me to drink more. At that moment I knew he was up to something, but I need to be sure. I took more glass of wine as he requested, after that I increased my acting. At a point he decided it was time to go , he held me as we were walking out toward his car i was staggering . As he help me into the car, he slightly touched my boobs. He did it to look like it was a mistake, but I knew he wanted to confirm my state of intoxication, so I didn't bug. As he gets into the car and drove the car, I pretended to have dozed up. At a point he stopped the car, got out and rushed into a pharmacy shop, I was just lying there like I was deep asleep with my eyes slightly open peeping at him. I guessed he was buying condoms , but I wasn't sure.

The next stop was in front of a hotel, he got down again and rushed inside. I guessed he went to book a room. He got back , helped me out of the car and inside the hotel. As we got to the reception, I decided the acting was enough, I forcefully pulled myself away from him, I called him a bloody liar , a rapist and all other hideous names I can't even remember. He was so astonished to see my eyes wide open. I also castigated the receptionist , I asked her how could she be their and watch a man drag an unconscious girl into a room . I even threatened to call the police to arrest them both. After that I walked out of the hotel gallantly leaving him there ashamed of himself. I took a taxi back home.

This is the 7th guy I have used this trick on , and they all failed woefully. The moment you start acting like you are intoxicated, the demon beneath the handsome, cool loving guy comes out to manifest. This got me thinking, are all guys rapist ? Is there any guy out there who can take an intoxicated girl to her house , without trying to take advantage of her condition? May God help us all.
