you mean it came with 128mb ram. this one na artifacts or vintage laptop, abi, acient of days, produced in 2004, it obviously doesn't use ddr2 ram, thats why it can't fit into the ram slots, rather it uses ddr ram, the first generation or fore fathers of ram, ddr ram is almost extint.

Many thanks, tried that before it did set but was requesting I format the disk as if new. It had only 125mb data instead of 400GB

Yes the processor over heat and shutdown itself after 15mins then when you switch on while it still hot it will automatically shutdown by itself it means de silicone paste is dried up

I think the graphics card is being overworked that's why you're seeing those lines, I've been there but it usually goes back to normal when you close the task consuming programs

thank you very much for your contributions but the line dat divide the screen isn't going back as u said but increasing every day and bigger, can graphics chips have hardware effects on screen, my previous system had same problem but chips wasn't worked on be4

i have an experience where a bad hard disk caused a flickering and inverted screen on my laptop. I firstly thought it was the laptop that has problem, i bought another laptop, and the same screen problem happened, before i discovered it's my hard disk that is bad causing the issue, because i was using the same hard disk for the system. I change the hard disk, and it never behave that way again.

your talking about flickering screen which might be software related issues like updating screen drivers
Am talking about a single line dividing de screen into 2 and increasing every single day till the whole screen can't see anything
But de system boots up and operates very well, i want to know de cause of such issues and solutions cos dis is not a coincidence somtin, spoil screen can't start by dividing
I need ideas please, so that if i change the screen i will be careful

1. Uninstall the driver and use it like that.

2. Go to hp site, download the old or new driver from hp

3. Reflow the graphic chip

4. Replace the graphic chip

5. If this model can be converted, do a discrete to UMA graphic conversion (note you must be a chip level engr to do this accurately)

UD thanks for the response, concerning uninstalling and reinstalling have done all, i updated tro drivers pack 19, i updated individually tro device manager, i updated de monitor driver, i even run windows update to show available drivers and i update all display drivers including the NVIDIA drivers yet if i off the system for a whole night in the morning it will divide de screen into six and wen i keep de system on for 10mins sometimes i intentionally play songs for de system to hot den i will restart the system and it will display well tro out the day no matter how i off it

Ur second option talks about reflow of the graphic chips and replacing it,, i think i will try dat on Monday have called afix computer in uyo if de reflow graphics chips he said yes so i will try him

Incase you have another suggestion tro my explanation pls endeavor to contribute

my resolution stuck at 800x600 which is very low, have updated all necessary drivers, i even updated tro windows update and everything is upto date but the screen resolution is still at 800x600, if it graphics card which is hardware i need someone with dis idea to confirm it for further assistance

Recently my hp pavilion Dv6000 started developing display problems i mean wen i boot de system will divide and show same screen divided into 6 parts but boots very well, i went to display settings and it automatically adjust the resolution to 724 × 800 which means that the driver is outdated, i went to device manager and updated the driver yes my display went back to normal but after some time it will automatically revert back until i updates drivers

My main problem now is that, the display drivers is on NVIDIA GEFORCE 8400 bla bla bla, if i update it with dis it will not update but wen i choose standard display gn non pnp it will update very well but later revert back and divide the screen into 6, out of anger i formatted de system frm windows 7 to 8 cos i always wanted to upgrade but becos of my files i refuse to

My main problem still remains cos de problem still exists which makes me think if it actually de drivers or another tin, please wit my explanation someone shud be able to understand wat am talking about or i can attach a screenshot

Have replaced a motherboard
Amd 1.20gh on a 3gb ram Hp pavilion Dv6000 that was on windows 8 on a previous intel core i2 1.80gh processor

My problem now is, immediately i boot the system i must select boot sequence on each time, even on restart. The network is doesn't allow de system to boot except i remove it
After successfull boot speakers are not playing even with headphones, not all keyboard works.

Please ideas on how to fix this, my only guess is to format and reinstall OS, any other contributions are welcome
