Anita Solomon, who is the babymama of Toke Makinwa’s ex- husband, Maje Ayida, has revealed that she got pregnant for him, months after the couple separated, as against the claim that it was while they were still together.

Solomon, who is also a lawyer, told a Lagos High Court, today, March 1, 2019, that she got pregnant exactly 6 months after the couple had signed a legal document certifying their separation.

PoliticsAPC Asks Buhari To Send Soldiers To Ogun For Election by Samgist(op): 6:56am On Feb 28, 2019
The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to send soldiers to the state during the March 9 governorship election.

This, it said, was to avert the alleged plot to attack its governorship candidate, Dapo Abiodun.

It claimed that there were intelligence reports that Abiodun might be attacked on or before the day of the election.

The Publicity Secretary of the caretaker committee of the APC in the state, Tunde Oladunjoye, stated this while speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Oladunjoye said despite the deployment of three Commissioners of Police in the state for last week’s presidential and National Assembly elections, there were cases of violence which led to the killing of a policeman.

He predicted that there might be more cases of violence during the governorship election, if soldiers were not deployed in the state.

He said, “We are asking President Muhammadu Buhari, who has said in his acceptance speech that he is going to strengthen the presence of security men, to make sure that soldiers are sent to Ogun state.

“We are not saying they should be at the polling booths, but they should be at strategic places to prevent violence because the intelligence report we have is that attacks would be carried out in the presence of policemen who will not do anything.

“Of course, our governorship candidate is also a prime target, from the report we got this morning.

“When we said the last time, he was going to be attacked, they said it was a lie. We got this report this morning that he is going to be attacked.”

He confirmed the report on Wednesday and according to him: “I have asked all the IDPs residing in my houses to immediately pack out because they are not serious in life.

These are people who had to leave their villages due to insecurity caused by a government that could not provide such basic necessity to them, yet they went and sold their votes at the last elections trying to bring back the same gang.”

According to him, in spite of his earlier advice to them “to vote out those who failed them in the past years”, they still voted them in.

CelebritiesRkelly Charged With Sexual Offenses by Samgist(op): 11:08pm On Feb 22, 2019
R&B star, R. Kelly, was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, on Friday, in Chicago.

The charges stem from a newly discovered video found by attorney Michael Avenatti that allegedly shows Kelly having sex with a 14-year-old girl, The Chicago Sun-Times and TMZ reported, citing court records.

Avenatti, who remained quiet throughout his 10-month “investigation” of Kelly on behalf of multiple clients, responded to the indictment on Twitter, proclaiming, “After 25 years of serial sexual abuse and assault of underage girls, the day of reckoning for R Kelly has arrived.”

Gerald Griggs, an Atlanta lawyer who represents the parents of a woman they believe is being held against her will as a member of Kelly’s alleged “sex cult,” celebrated the indictment and predicted more would be forthcoming soon from “multiple jurisdictions” around the country.

“This is just the beginning of the charges,” Griggs said. Kelly is also under investigation in Fulton County, Ga., and by the U.S. Attorney’s office in the Eastern District of New York, he said.

The indictment of Kelly, 52, culminates nearly two decades of allegations, one failed criminal trial, a surging #MuteRKelly campaign, a breakup with his recording label, and the airing of a Kelly-damning film series, “Surviving R. Kelly,” in January.

CelebritiesJussiesmollett Charged With Felony For Faking Homophobic Attack by Samgist(op): 7:17am On Feb 21, 2019
Empire” actor Jussie Smollett was charged Wednesday with a felony for allegedly filing a false police report claiming he was the victim of a hate-crime attack in Chicago, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney office.

Smollett is charged with felony disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false report with the Chicago Police Department on Jan. 29 in which he claimed he was assaulted by two masked men who hurled racist and homophobic slurs.

The actor, 36, who is black and gay, also said his attackers poured what he believed was bleach over him and put a noose around his neck. Smollett is expected in court for a bond hearing at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Chicago Police Department spokesman, Anthony Guglielmi, said that the investigation into the alleged attack has demanded “considerable” police resources. He said that at one point the department had 12 detectives scouring surveillance videos.

The two Nigerian brothers, Ola and Abel Osundairo, were taken into custody on Feb. 13 and questioned. They were released two days later, on Friday, without charges. Police said the two, who are brothers, were no longer suspects in the case and were cooperating in the probe.

On Saturday, a police source said the probe had shifted into whether the actor had paid the two brothers to stage an assault. Investigators had discovered that the brothers had purchased the rope used in the alleged attack.

Guglielmi said then that investigators wanted to have another interview with Smollett but he didn’t talk to police on Monday or Tuesday. However, Ola and Abel Osundairo met with police and prosecutors at a criminal court building on Tuesday, according to police spokesman Tom Ahern.

That same afternoon, police investigated, and then discounted, a tip they received that Smollett was seen with the Osundairo brothers on the night of the attack.

CelebritiesI Will Lead Protest If INEC Shifts Elections Again —charly Boy by Samgist(op): 10:25pm On Feb 19, 2019
Maverick activist, Charly Boy, has said that he will lead a peaceful protest to the headquarters of Independent National Electoral Commission if the agency shifts the Presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday.

Charly Boy said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Abuja.

NAN recalls that Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC Chairman, early on Saturday, February 16, announced the postponement of the polls to February 23 because of “logistics and operational problems”.

The Commission also shifted the state Governorship and legislative elections as well as Council polls in the Federal Capital Territory from March 2 to March 9.

However, reactions have continued to trail the action of the electoral umpire with many Nigerians, especially political players, calling for the resignation of the chairman.

Charly Boy, the Convener of Ourmumudondo Movement, however, noted that he saw the inability of Nigeria to hold the polls on the scheduled date as ‘an act of God’.

He, however, warned that any further shift of the elections, especially the presidential poll, would be protested by his group.

“I want to believe that what happened on Saturday is some kind of divine intervention, no matter how much things have become so politicised in our environment.

“However, if there is another postponement, we will go to INEC office to tell us what is happening and whether they are truly independent or not.

“Unless they want to set fire on an already tensed situation in the country, I see no reason why INEC should postpone the elections again.

“Nigerian politicians are very desperate to get and hold onto power and it is part of my nationalistic engagement to speak against mindless political criminality in the polity, “he said.

Charly Boy urged Nigerians, especially the youth, to come out and vote for leaders of their choice in all the elections.

CrimeCustoms Officers Shoot Passenger Dead Over N5,000 Bribe by Samgist(op): 5:58am On Feb 18, 2019
deceased was said to be coming from Lagos with other passengers when the officers stopped the vehicle and demanded a N5,000 bribe.
In the ensuing altercation, one of the officers shot the passenger, a development that infuriated other passengers.

The passengers reportedly mobilised and prevented the officers from leaving the scene.

They also disarmed them before descending on them, according to an eyewitness who spoke with our correspondent.

However, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has explained how a scuffle involving its personnel at Shagamu interchange, Ijebu Ode, led to the death of a young man it identified as Godwin by accidentally discharged bullet from an officer who was also severely injured.

Customs in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, DC Joseph Attah, said contrary to the reports making the rounds that a returnee Nigerian from eastern part of the country was killed when the vehicle he was travelling along with other passengers was stopped by the agency’s officials and a disagreement over alleged request for bribe led to the killing of the passengers, the statement denied that such incident did not take place.

PoliticsINEC Reschedules Presidential, NASS Elections by Samgist(op): 7:13am On Feb 16, 2019

Consequently, the commission has rescheduled the Presidential and National Assembly Elections to Saturday, February 23, 2019 while the governorship, State Houses of Assembly and Federal Capital Territory Area Council polls earlier fixed for March 2 would now be conducted on Saturday, March 9 2019.

The chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who read a five-paragraph statement by 2:50 am on Saturday morning attributed the decision to logistic reasons, but refused to entertain any question.

He said, “The Independent National Electoral Commission met on Friday, February 15, 2019, and reviewed its preparations for the 2019 General Elections scheduled for Saturday, February 16 2019 and Saturday, March 2 2019.

“Following a careful review of the implementation of its logistics and operational plan and the determination to conduct free, fair and credible elections, the commission came to the conclusion that proceeding with the elections as scheduled is no longer feasible.

Furthermore, the Governorship, State House of Assembly and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Elections is rescheduled to Saturday, March 9 2019. “This was a difficult decision for the commission to take, but necessary for the successful delivery of the elections and the consolidation of our democracy.

“The commission will meet key stakeholders to update them on this development at 2pm on Saturday 16 (today) February 2019 at the Abuja International Conference Centre.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is considering postponing Saturday’s presidential and national assembly elections,
Multiple sources close to the electoral commission said the postponement being considered is due to some logistics challenges being faced by the commission in many states.
The electoral body is facing difficulty distributing sensitive electoral materials to some states of the federation, an official said.
A formal announcement is expected on Friday night, our sources said.
It is unclear at this time what the new election date would be.
“There will definitely be a postponement but we are yet to take a decision on the new date,” an official said.

Another official said the commission is considering fixing the elections for Sunday.
Our sources said INEC commissioners are currently locked in a meeting at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
Some of the states where the logistic challenges are said to occur include Niger and Ekiti.
The News Agency of Nigeria where the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Niger State said ballot papers for two of the state’s three senatorial districts were missing as of Friday evening.
EKITI LAMENTS
In Ekiti, the former governor of the state, Ayo Fayose, accused INEC of deliberately hoarding materials for the presidential, Senate and House of Representatives elections in some states to frustrate the PDP.
Mr Fayose said he was aware that ballot papers and result sheets for presidential and senatorial elections were not in Ekiti State as at 9 p.m. on Friday, adding that only materials for the House of Representatives were distributed.
According to his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, Mr Fayose said similar situations already reported in Oyo, Taraba, Edo, Niger, Ogun, Rivers and other states.

The INEC Commissioner in charge of publicity, Festus Okoye, did not answer or return multiple calls
