OmolodMilkman93: Hmm,... maybe I didn't get that part correctly but I know 2005 class was the first ever set. They and the 2006 class were inducted together in the 1st ever induction in 2012(when they 1st gained the interim accreditation). Then the 2007 class was inducted last year. And this is the 2008 class.
I remember it was during our first semester exams that PCN came for "inspection" okey boss. . . . . |

joker5180: a graduate of BDS is called a 'dental surgeon', he uses the prefix 'DR' before his name, is regarded as 'equal' in all aspects with an MBBS graduate ( medical doctor). The 'only' other health professional that uses ' DR' in nigeria is opthometrist, his certificate is not equivalent to that BDS or MBBS graduate. Pharm. D has been suspended in nigeria for now, while it existed its graduates don't use the prefix 'DR'. There are some arguement which aint suppose but, for the sake of the public. . . I don't really know a UNIBEN graduate of Pharm. D to confirm this but, how will Someone graduate with a Doctor of Pharmacy(Pharm. D) degree and you say he can't be called a Doctor? Haba! . And lastly, I spoke with a UNIBEN pharmacy student and he said their Pharm. D is still intact. |

And must it be in the university her school of nursing is located? Also, will she require JAMB to continue nursing in the university? check the JAMB brochure under the Direct entry column. I mean, can you explain wether both are not a nursing profession.... dnt 4get how you were quick to condemn b.pharm in Nigeria. So, also am telling u dat the nurses at professional level in Nigeria are RN(Registered Nurse) and not NP(Nurse practitioner). . A Nurse Practioner can to some extent displace the Physician in it's surgical role. . I think some states either in US or UK makes use of NP. .(not sure bt, somethg like that). |

Everyone aims growing. . The fact that Nigeria still run B. Pharm doesn't mean you can't get Pharm. D. It's very simple getting it. . And talking of Masters (M. Pharm), when you get it can you compare the financial benefit to the RN? Never! . . . OP again I say unto you, if you want to follow money, go for Pharmacy and if you want to follow less time consumer, go for Nursing. . Though, YOUR PASSION MATTERS ALOT BECAUSE, YOU WILL HARDLY SCALE THROUGH(esp. Pharmacy) IF THE PASSION ISN'T THERE. |

Samakinr: Really?... It seems you're living in a different world "A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is a professional doctor degree in pharmacy. In some countries, it is a first professional degree, and a prerequisite for licensing to exercise the profession of Pharmacist. The first Pharm.D. program was established at the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy in Los Angeles, California in 1950.[1]" In the United States of America, students graduating after January 1, 2003, must complete a doctor of pharmacy degree to become a licensed pharmacist. This same requirement has been coming into place in other countries such as Canada and France. In South Korea, the new six-year program in pharmacy education has been in effect since 2011. The Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree (Danish: cand.pharm.) takes two years longer — a total of five years. To work as a pharmacist in a pharmacy in Denmark, the MPharm degree is required. The Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree (Danish: cand.pharm.) takes two years longer — a total of five years. Samakinr: Seems you dont know who you're talking to.. . Do you think he's just a random guy spewing out rubbish?. I'd never said pharmacy is never good but I'm telling you that even in the US, it's rate third behind nursing (2nd), and dentistry (ist). #1 Dentist (8.2 out of 10) As Dr. Seuss once wrote, “Teeth are always in style.” Dentists surely think so. They make their living diagnosing and treating our teeth and gums, and counseling us on how to maintain good oral health. This profession is expected to add 23,300 new jobs up to the year 2022. Full Review | Salary Details | Available Jobs #2 Nurse Practitioner (8.1 out of 10) It’s a nurse practitioner’s array of capabilities, coupled with the fact they can work independently of physicians when treating patients, that makes our No. 2 Health Care Job an attractive career choice. The BLS predicts 37,100 new positions for these professionals between 2012 and 2022. Full Review | Salary Details | Available Jobs #3 Pharmacist (8.1 out of 10) Pharmacists mix technical, organizational and people skills in a customer service environment. Each day, more than 281,560 pharmacists dispense medicine and advice to patients at hospitals and retail chains. The profession is expected to grow 14.5 percent by 2022. Full Review | Salary Details | Available Jobs #4 Registered Nurse (8.0 out of 10) Nursing is an indispensable profession in health care; one where workers are almost always needed. This year is no different, as the BLS anticipates 19.4 percent employment growth in this field between 2012 and 2022. Full Review | Salary Details | Available Jobs #5 Physical Therapist (7.9 out of 10) A physical therapist’s job description might include helping a paralytic regain mobility or a cancer survivor renew his or her strength. The profession is expected to grow 36 percent by 2022. Full Review | Salary Details | Available Jobs #6 Physician (7.8 out of 10) Physicians are at the top of the health care food chain – it’s their responsibility to diagnose and treat patients, and instruct on proper diet, hygiene and disease prevention. Samakinr: I expect that you argue with facts and not on emotion(?) . I will address your points one after the other. . You may as well choose not to write an employment letter in every other job besides pharmacy. My current job was via a phone call and I'm not a pharmacist! . If you dont mind, can you tell me the difference between the salary of a physiotherapist and a pharmacist?. Do you know anything about the CONHESS? . the salary of a doctor is higher than every other health worker simply Cos they're placed on CONMESS, while the pharmacists who are not different from the physiotherapist, the optometist, and a nursing degree holder are placed on CONHESS, SAME LEVEL. . YOU are wrong here bro. Not all universities offer nursing in Nigeria, infact, it's only 22. . A nurse can likewise work in a hospital, community, private bussiness... Infact, can own a hospital. .. Can lecture and can diversify into Public health which I don't think is opened to pharmacists. And in many a country, your bsc Pharmacy is not recognized again, so can you re-argue with more baseful facts mister? please don't say what you don't know; the B. Pharm is still accepted in almost all country and hey, you can get your Pharm. D while working with your B. Pharm under 3years. |

A total of 27 new Pharmacists trained by the University of Harcourt have been inducted into the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) at the 3rd Oath Taking/Induction Ceremony of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences held at the EbitimiBanigo Auditorium, penultimate Friday. Presenting the graduands to the Council, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Ajienka, congratulated them for meeting the stringent requirements specified by Senate of the University for award of the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree which qualified them to obtain the provisional license of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria for the next 12 months.
“Let me hasten to add that a substantial investment in both human and material resources has been made in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and more is still required. The effort made in the acquisitions of teaching and research facilities has placed the Faculty on a very sound foundation,” the Vice-Chancellor said, charging the new inductees to be worthy ambassadors of the University by striving towards the ideals of diligence and excellence in service delivery to humanity, as well as ensure that the best industry practices are maintained at all times.
In his Keynote Address titled: Pharmaceutical Care: A Paradigm Shift, Professor AzukaOpara of the University of Benin, who pointed out that drug-related problems posed serious challenge all over the world, disclosed that the problems were, however, preventable with the right attitude from practitioners through quality pharmacy education, competency-based training and proper care-giving services to patients. Speaking before formally inducting the graduands as members of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, new Registrar of the Council, Mr. Elijah Mohammed, who also congratulated them for completing the first phase of their pharmacy training, added that: “The training of Pharmacists statutorily required that upon graduation, after their formal entry point education, they should undergo a mandatory one-calendar year Internship training programme under the supervision of a recognized and registered Pharmacist (a Preceptor) in an accredited Internship training facility. This is the second phase of pharmacy training.” The Registrar advised the new Pharmacists to get themselves properly acquainted with the code of ethics which prescribed professional and moral responsibilities to the patients and other care-givers in the health sector, stating that “strict compliance to the code of ethics is indispensible for practice of the pharmacy profession.”
He used the opportunity to disclose his four-point agenda of repositioning the National Secretariat for effective service delivery, institutionalizing good pharmacy practice, transforming career professionals into intellectual practitioners and introducing new partnerships through patient right initiative, IT-driven pharmacy regulation, use of pharmacy emblem, research and development and periodic interactive sessions. Earlier in his welcome address, Dean of the Faculty, Professor OlekaUdeala, stated that the induction was a confirmation that the students had satisfied the stringent provisions stipulated by PCN for the training of skilled Pharmacists, advising the new Inductees to continue to subject themselves to the regulations of PCN during and after their mandatory Internship training in approved outlets.
The Dean praised the Ajienka-led administration for its unflinching support aimed at placing the Faculty on a solid footing, commending Lecturers in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences for working assiduously towards the training of more Pharmacists aimed at enriching the health sector. Professor Udeala, who used the opportunity of the ceremony to present UniPort-made Sanitizer to the Vice-Chancellor, disclosed that he worked in conjunction with Dr. Sinyeofori Brown to produce the product. The motivation to produce the product, according to him came from a challenge from the Vice-Chancellor, following outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the country. The Sanitizer was the contribution of the Faculty to the University Community aimed at preventing outbreak of the dreaded virus in the University, Professor Udeala disclosed, promising that the Faculty would take on new challenges as proof of its readiness to contribute to the health needs of the University and Nigerians.
Highpoints of the ceremony were presentation of operational licenses to the new Pharmacists and Best Graduating Student, Emmanuel Nwoke, who also presented the Valedictory Speech on behalf of his Class, also known as the Great Invictus. The Valedictorian paid glowing tributes to their parents and University for the quality training he and his colleagues received in the UniPort. He also recalled the unfortunate passage of Miss Angela Ajabor, a colleague who passed to eternity in their fourth year in the programme. The new Registrar, who had earlier led a delegation of visiting officials of PCN and Keynote Speaker on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor and Principal Officers at the Vice-Chancellor's Committee Room, reminded the University of the need to secure full accreditation for the Faculty in place of its current Interim Accreditation status. |

If JAMB says it's a 4-year degree programme instead of 5, worry not because, your first year is usually not counted due to it being unproffessional. Your proffessional year is from 200level. |
