DrObum:
There's nothing to sue anybody for.

Nobody did wrong there. He simply had an adverse drug reaction which is quite rare but has been numerously documented in medical literature.

Doesn't mean that everybody that takes that drug would react that way, but it happens.
Sir, are u alright to think no one has done wrong?
Its either the Pharmacist's, Physician's or patient's fault.
Am very sure it's not the fault of GSK.

Berrylite:
HYPERSENSITIVITY...The doctor who prescribed this medication to him must have been ignorant of his medical record which is a blunder in Molecular medicine.
Thats the reason i prefer good herbal preparation.
Watch out for introduction of herbal medicine into course outline of medical students in Nigeria. The race has started!!!!
Introduction of herbal medicine into course outline of medical students? What happened to the proposed traditional medicine profession?

Acidosis:
and please people should learn how to read the instructions regarding the contra-indications, pharmacology, etc., attached by the manufacturers. Some Doctors are known for churning out drugs without proper instructions as to when to stop when certain reactions occur. Read the manual carefully; some Doctors have no clue, some with fair understanding won't tell you, others are just too busy.

Do not depend on your Doctor for total safety; go online and read more on the prescribed drug (unless you're taking the regular OTC drugs.)

Especially those on Antipsychotic, anti-depressants drugs - most of these drugs are known for severe adverse reactions. Some of these drugs lead to death, cardiac arrest, dementia, severe seizures, Parkinson disease, just to name a few.

AGBO!! AKA Alternative Medicine remains the best method of treatment for Africans.
If he got that drug directly from a pharmacist without advice on the drug use, then I blame the pharmacist.

But, then it is possible he failed to report the initial side effects to the physician or pharmacist for advice.

Dokitadotun:
SJS is a drug reaction anybody can have if you r prone to it. It is neither the doctor or the company is liable here. Since there is no molecular biology tech in most hosp in developing countries there is.little anybdy can do. The doctor only needs to hv asked for personal or family history of sjs. The company is not at fault in any way nor the doctor if he ask for adequate info from d patient before prescribing d drug. Even paracetamol can cause sjs.

@Acidosis and miss, It is not a pharmcologist that is needed here but a moleculr biologist who would have determine his HLA. Even if his HLA is determined it is not 100% accurate to say he will have sjs with d drug or not.
The Pharmacist(who is also a pharmacologist) is a drug expert so, he is expected to have pointed that out.

PoliticsRe: Statistics Of The Biafrian War: What Chance Does Odua /arewa Military Have? by Samgreguc(m): 1:07am On Sep 08, 2015
OrIandoOwoh:
These stats got me thinking:

Nigeria's military strength: 120,000 (1970)

Biafra's military strength: 30,000 (1970)

Casualties:

Nigeria: 25,000 - 50,000 Military
casualties

Biafra: 10,000 - 25,000 Mil
casualties

From the stats above, even with a lower military numeracy, Biafrian soldiers still killed more Nigerian soldiers.

Now my thought, what if the UN declares Biafra a republic, thus enabling them buy food from any part of the world and then their South south cousins decides to join them, doesn't it spell doom for us the remaining Nigerians?

We might want to go into war with a sovereign nation Biafra, but we should watch our backs lest our lands be the conquered ones rather.

I would suggest we beg Biafra as the statistics above has shown they are capable of killing our army boys more than we can kill theirs. Also the system of starving them might not work this time around as they could buy food from any part of the world since they are now a SOVEREIGN COUNTRY. They could purchase weapons from world powers and pay us back in your coins, and world powers would sell to them since they are now a SOVEREIGN COUNTRY.

Let's just HOPE and PRAY UN doesn't give them Biafra, because if they do, then we are doomed because BIAFRA will want to take revenge and the stats above has shown their military is better than ours.
pls may I know d source of ur stat?

Its actually the other way round because a lot of students wrote in medicine, there was a yr 4 nursing student that wrote and was asked why she wants to abandon nursing in yr 4 and start medicine yr 1, yr 2 students in PSB, anatomy, aeb, physiology were like water, the lecturers in those Dept's on sighting their students felt so sad but then not all passed so well.
There is a new thing abt been allowed into different professional course other than the one you applied for in UNIPORT(recently though).
It started this year when those pharmacy student who switched to nursing were sent back after they were accepted in nursing.
All this are for future purpose in order to mitigate the crisis in the health sector. Dentistry is very much closer to Medicine than to Pharmacy. And we all knw the beef which started since the 15th century have been between Pharmacist(Apothecaries) and the physicians not between the dental surgeon and physician.
Well sha, u knw pass me for dis matter sha.

hi at otokx or any other uniport pharmacy undergraduate around.

I would like to know how faculty of pharmacy at uniport operates.

when a pharmacy student fails a course does he carry the four se over to the next level and resit it whenever the so chooses or does he repeat that level and write it the following year?

just curious.

Thanks.
100 level students are required to pass all courses with a pass mark of 40 before he/she would be qualify to enter into Pharmacy school proper but, could fail at most one GES course of the 4 GES courses.

Another Nigerian from Delta State, Onoriode Reginald Aziza also bagged First Class from same Cambridge Class.

Onoriode's case was even more outstanding, because he made a triple First Class:
