Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Mr. Obasanjo on Monday announced his decision to leave the party at his residence in Abeokuta, saying he was no more a politician, but would remain a statesman.

The former president indicated his decision came ahead of a plan by the party to dismiss him, possibly for alleged anti-party activities..

Mr. Obasanjo had been engaged in a running feud with President Goodluck Jonathan whom he accused of failing in leadership and encouraging corruption.

He also accused the president of plotting to stir trouble in the country resulting in a military takeover, if he loses upcoming elections. Last week, Mr. Obasanjo endorsed Mr. Jonathan’s challenger, Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr. Jonathan in turn, on Saturday, accused the former president of working to create an Interim National Government, which he hopes to head.

“They said they want to expel me from PDP, although I have not been told but I have my ears on ground. We’ve been trying to run away from a man but he pleads we wait for him at the other side of the river. I have told you before that I became president on the platform of PDP, once I leave PDP I will not join any party,” he told journalists.

“I will only be a Nigerian, I am ready to work with anybody regardless of political affiliation. Why would some people say they want to send me away, they don’t need to bother themselves, here’s your membership card, take it,” Mr. Obasanjo said, before dumping his membership card which was later torn by a member of the party from his ward.

“From today on, in the presence of all us and with your support, I am not going to be in any political party in Nigeria. I am no more a politician but a statesman both internally and externally. The issued that they want to expel me from the party for, once you people are with me what other people am I looking for,” he said.

CNN)Boko Haram fighters have carried out their first known lethal attack in Chad, the U.N. refugee agency said Friday, as the threat from the Nigeria-based Islamist militants spills over into neighboring nations.

The fighters killed four civilians and a soldier in the predawn attack on the fishing village of Ngouboua on the shores of Lake Chad, according to residents and Chadian security sources.

The attack came hours after 21 people were killed in two separate attacks on Akida ‎and Mbuta villages near the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri, according to residents and a local community leader.

Adrian Edwards, spokesman for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, told reporters in Geneva, Switzerland, that news had come in overnight of the attack on Ngouboua and details remained hazy.

"We are still getting information about how many people affected, we know that thousands of refugees were there," he said.

"The reports that we've received, the town was attacked by about 30 militants using boats, they attacked parts of the town itself, the 'chef de canton' himself was killed. We were in contact with a refugee during the attack but the phone line went dead. We are still trying to find out more about the situation there."

Mamadou Dian Balde, of the UNHCR in Chad, later told CNN that the chef de canton, or local leader, who was killed had been "a great champion of refugee protection."

Authorities have not yet confirmed the final death toll, he said. But reports from the ground indicate three-quarters of the village was torched by the attackers and many residents have fled to surrounding areas.

The village was peaceful and had generously taken in many refugees from the conflict in neighboring Nigeria, he added.

'Increasingly terrifying' situation
The violence in northeast Nigeria has caused more than 157,000 people to flee into Niger, Cameroon and Chad, Edwards said. Some 100,000 of those are in Niger, 40,000 in Cameroon and the remainder in Chad.

Nearly 1 million more people are believed to be internally displaced inside northeast Nigeria, according to that country's national emergency management agency, Edwards said.

"With the violence that's plagued northeast Nigeria spilling over into Niger, Cameroon and Chad, UNHCR is now calling for urgent humanitarian access to refugees and internally displaced people in these countries to provide urgently needed assistance," he said.

"For many refugees, for locals, for aid workers too, the situation is now becoming increasingly terrifying."

Earlier this month, several African nations -- including Nigeria, Niger, Benin, Cameroon, and Chad -- pledged to deploy 8,700 troops, police and civilians as part of a regional effort to fight Boko Haram.

The assault by Boko Haram on Chadian soil may be a response to that initiative.

An attack earlier this month by Boko Haram militants against Chadian soldiers on the border between Cameroon and Nigeria left 13 dead and 21 injured, the United Nations said last week.

The Chadian soldiers were deployed to fight Boko Haram in Cameroon and Nigeria.

Inability to manage time is one of the main reasons that contribute to students not finishing their degree programs. It is not easy to juggle work and school together.
Here are a few tips to manage your time effectively:

1.Speakout
Does your school schedule make it possible for you to work?. Does it go along with your workplace?. If it does, you have a chance running both.
If the course you are studying corresponds with your work, it's good. if not, you can meet with your school counselor about courses available online that are related to your work.
Some schools have provision for work-study. So try to find out what support is available. You could also join peer support groups.
Also, talk to your boss for support and be hardworking. You can talk with your boss to avoid heavy assignment that might be time consuming.

2. Set your priority
When you know what you have to do each day and the amount of time available, You can determine what you can accomplish in the time range.
Set your priorities right. Assign a specific time to specific tasks and avoid procrastination. Be smart in prioritizing your tasks such that different tasks have different weights depending on their importance.
Also set time limit for each tasks so that one task does not occupy the whole day.
Once you have you schedule ready, don't make procrastination alter it and you are good to go.

3.Take one step at a time
Just because a degree is stipulated to be 5 years does not mean you have to finish it in 5 years. If the courses taken per semester are too much for you, you can distribute those courses to your own comfort so that you don't become overworked.

4. Share your work
You don't have to do it all. cut out the less necessary tasks to others.
Discuss with your friends and family and get them to help you with a few things.

5. Rest
When schedules get filled up, the first sacrificial lamb is sleep and rest. Lack of sleep and rest affects your health mentally and physically which in the long run takes more time than it would have taken initially.
Take care of yourself and put the time to do so in your schedule.
