Lol. Lagos accent is not even the mainstream/central Yoruba. The central Yoruba (that is "too konk" is the Oyo Yoruba accent spoken by Oyo, Ogbomosho, maybe Ibadan and a handful parts of Osun state (Ikire, Iwo..). It is from that other accents deviate.
So, the language of instruction (the chosen accent) in formal Yoruba examination is the Oyo accent.

If you put Ekiti, Oyo, Ogun, Osun people together to have a discussion, using their local accents to speak would definitely cause confusion in the room cos some local accents are just too konk to understand.

But with Lagos accent, it's very easy for them to understand each other

No b Mimiko spoiled lam ooo. It was the community that the refinery where suppose to be sited that protested against the governor and the company, saying that there want to take their ascestral land away.

First it was Ondo, then Ogun that missed out on the opportunity to host that refinery. Either of those two states would have been a better location for the refinery, if not for the short-sightedness of their then governors (Mimiko and Amosun). Their loss is Lagos' gain.
