Tomek09: Very high expectations on Soludo honestly.
Aggressive road construction, reconstruction and expansion. Dualization of new and exciting ones. Massive infrastructure. Education. Low cost housing system. Economy. Agriculture. The Onitsha clean up including driving away touts disturbing business friendly environment of the city. Redesigning and implementation of a new Awka capital city master plan. The Nnewi industrial new map.
Please Governor Soludo.....do not disappoint us Sir.

Politics › Re: What Is The Big Deal About Lagos Accent Or Dialect by Sammy07: 7:47am On Dec 29, 2021 |
babtoundey: Lol. Lagos accent is not even the mainstream/central Yoruba. The central Yoruba (that is "too konk" is the Oyo Yoruba accent spoken by Oyo, Ogbomosho, maybe Ibadan and a handful parts of Osun state (Ikire, Iwo..). It is from that other accents deviate. So, the language of instruction (the chosen accent) in formal Yoruba examination is the Oyo accent. No mind him, its even the language of Ibolo to igbomona side of Kwara. All actors/actress that lived in Lagos all their lives, watch their movies, all are still in Central Yoruba. Why? Because that's the language of exams/schools/instructions/music and movies. Even faitha balogun a Edo or delta girl wey live in lag all her life, nah central yoruba she dey speak. There's no way Lagos Yoruba will be widely accepted. |
Politics › Re: What Is The Big Deal About Lagos Accent Or Dialect by Sammy07: 7:30am On Dec 29, 2021 |
helinues: Please is Lagos accent still not Yoruba ni?
If you put Ekiti, Oyo, Ogun, Osun people together to have a discussion, using their local accents to speak would definitely cause confusion in the room cos some local accents are just too konk to understand.
But with Lagos accent, it's very easy for them to understand each other Its not only Lagos Yoruba that will be heard. Ibolo, igbomina, Oyo Yorubas are widely used. It dominates Yoruba movies. That's why I refused to agree that Lagos Yoruba is widely accepted or so. Hardly will you see Yoruba stars speaking Lagos dialect or their own dialects (unless otherwise stated) Who one is "Mide Ti de" - Lagos dialect "Mo ti de" - widely used dialect which is (Oyo, Ibolo, Igbomina) used in Essays, Exams, Movies and songs. Your words no hold joor, except prove otherwise that Lagos dialect is widely accepted. Funny thing is even the actors and actress that lived in Lagos all their life used Oyo/Ibolo/Igbomina. Faithia balogun (that benin girl) lived Lagos throughout, go and watch her movies and tell me the dialect she's using. |

Either of those two states would have been a better location for the refinery, if not for the short-sightedness of their then governors (Mimiko and Amosun). Their loss is Lagos' gain.
