The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Emmanuel Ekeme Jewan Sideso, Abe 1, JP. OON has turned down the request by the Ohaneaze, Delta South, Central to be allowed to build Ohanaeze House/Business Centre in the Effurun GRA, close to his Palace as that could pose a security challenge to the area.


The Uvwie Monarch stated this when Ohanaeze’s delegation paid a courtesy call on the King in his Palace recently. The Monarch told Ohanaeze’s delegation which was led by its President General, Chief Chiedu Idama in the visit that, their traditional/ethnic leaders should avoid anything that could cause conflict with their host community just as he called on them to take all their traditional ceremonies to their various Kingdoms.

Abe 1 said, he was not against people from other parts of the country purchasing property in the kingdom saying, most of his (Monarch) neigbours were from other parts of the country adding that, it would be a sign of disrespect if they do not consider the traditional and cultural sensibilities of their host communities.

The Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State was agog as HRM Richard Layeguen Ogbon Ogoni Oghoro I JP. the Ovie of Olomu Kingdom burial rite began in earnest. The programme which started on Monday saw the paying of homage by Eyanvwien Ruling House.


In his address, the Akpile (Prime Minister) of Olomu Kingdom, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje SAN, said, it is a good thing for Eyanvwien Ruling House to have started off by paying homage saying, it is the significant of the whole process. He however said, whether one is from a Ruling House or not, there should be peace in the kingdom. On the attribute of the late Monarch, the legal practitioner said, the departed Monarch was knowledgeable and pragmatic saying, God gave him grace to live long while on earth adding, the Kingdom would miss him.

The Delta State Police Command has said there are no hiding place for kidnappers and armed robbers in the state especially in Warri and Ughelli as the Command has declared total war against them and to prove this, one of the suspects was said to have been neutralized. Bailout Magazine learnt that on the 4th May, 2023, about 0013 hours, the DPO ‘B’ Division Warri SP Bolarinwa Alabi got a distress call that some robbers snatched a black Lexus car along Warri/Sapele Road.


The DPO was said to have swiftly mobilized his men and trailed the hoodlums and when the hoodlums who were four in number sighted the Police team, attempted to escape into the nearby bush just as they(hoodlums) opened fire on the police and the team quickly responded. In the process, one of the suspects was hit and was fatally wounded. Bailout Magazine learnt that the wounded however, could not make it as he died when he was undergoing treatment. It was learnt that, items recovered from them are :one locally made cut to size double barrel gun with two live cartridges and one suspected stolen vehicle with reg. no PYN 595 PW.

Others in the executive are: Comrade Eduoso Samuel Eruose(Secretary) and Comrade Ikoko Oghenerukevwe(Treasurer). By this, these crops of executive are to pilot the affairs of the body for the next two years.


Speaking after his victory, Comrade Giama who was re-elected after the expiration of his first tenure said, he was overwhelmed with the conduct of the election as it was free, fair and credible. This was the subject of discussion in today’s summit titled:” Community CSO Engagement On Motives Behind IOCS Divestment In Niger Delta held in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State. In his presentation, the Executive Director of Environmental Right Action / Friends of the Earth Nigeria and 2022 Golden Environmental Prize for Africa, Barr. Chima Williams said, international oil companies embarked on divestment to cheat Niger Deltans as they sell their companies to indigenous industries in order to escape their supposed responsibilities.

The Delta State Police Command have neutralized one suspected kidnapper and arrested three others with severe injuries as a result of gun shot just as they have recovered one AK 47 rifle, eighteen rounds of 7.6MM ammunition, one double- barrel- locally -made gun and one suspected stolen GLK BENZ.


In a press statement signed by the Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Asaba, the state capital, DSP Bright Edafe said, based on reports of kidnapping and armed robbery operations in Ughelli, Warri and its environs, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Johnson Adenola instructed all Divisional Police Officers in the Command to gather intelligence and ensure that this ugly trend is nipped in the bud.

The statement added that, against this background and in compliance with this directives, on 3rd of April, 2023, at about 1300 hours, and acting on this information received through intelligence gathering, an armed robbery gang that snatched one AK-47 rifle from a Police Officer and allegedly kidnapped and murdered one Godspower Emmanuel ‘m’ after collecting four hundred thousand naira (N400,000) ransom was sighted in a hotel in Agbarho.

The Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa said education is bed rock for sustainable development of every society. Governor Okowa stated this today, Saturday at the 15th Convocation of 2021/2022 academic session of Delta State University, Abraka where a total of 4855 students comprising of 58 Doctor of philosophy, 339 Masters Degree, 596 Postgraduate Diplomas ,3843 First Degrees and 416 Diplomas were convocated for the day.


While congratulating the graduands for their successful completion of the academic course, he said, they were graduating for good as their graduation marked a change in their status and beginning in their lives.

According to him, as administrators, they understand the core importance of education not only in the life of the individuals but also the youths and nations’ building. Governor Okowa who was represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Delta State, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu said, education is capital intensive but remains the bed rock for sustainable development of every society. According to Governor Okowa, this gives reasons for the maintenance of the various schools ranging from the primary to secondary and tertiary institutions in the state.

The Delta State University, Abraka, Professor Andy O. Egwunyenga said Delta State University is happy to see that the state government has added three new universities to the existing one in the state.


Professor Egwunyenga stated this on Wednesday when fielding questions from newsmen at this year’s interaction to usher in ceremonies and programmes for the 15th Convocation for graduation and award of degrees, diplomas and prizes to deserving graduands of the university.

According to him, these additional new Universities would give more rooms for the more admission of students in the state seeking admission into higher institutions as only Delsu can not admit all of them. He said there must be room for capacity building and advancement of the state in this regard. He said:” The new universities established by the state government would create room for intellectual growth of the state”.

According to him, the establishment of these additional universities is good step in the right direction as it gives for competition among the students and the institution themselves to make the state excel and raise the bar of academic performance.

The Vice Chancellor, Delta State University Abraka, Professor Andy O. Egwunyenga has said, the school will continue to embark on projects that will enhance effective teaching and learning.


Professor Egwunyenga stated this today, Wednesday in a media chat to usher in ceremonies and programmes for the 15th Convocation for graduation and award of Degrees, Diplomas and Prizes to deserving graduands of the institution held in the school premises. He said, so far, the institution has built the faculty of Management Science saying, the project started on the April 2022 and it would be commissioned on the 29th April, 2023.

According to him, the school has completed 3.2 kilometres road network in the school permanent site just as he said, the school tarred internal road in the faculty of Engineering and the Provost’s Office, Oleh Campus of the school.

Speaking further, Professor Egwunyenga said the school has strengthened its academic programmes by securing a full accreditation for all the forty (40) programmes presented to the National University Commission (NUC) in November/December, 2022.

Darah said for 50 years, Uvwie people have created a conducive atmosphere for businesses and investors to strive just as he said, for Nigeria to move forward, most significant changes that can transform Nigeria’s federating units such as Uvwie in particular and Urhobo in general is political restructuring.


The Professor of Oral Literature, Folklore and Cultural Sciences stated this recently in Petroleum Training institute(PTI) Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state in keynote address at a colloquium as part of activities marking the 15th coronation of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso, Abe 1, JP. OON.

According to him, the federal government and the multinational companies are the major beneficiaries of this conducive atmosphere in this regard. Professor Darah said despite these good opportunities, most of the oil -rich districts of Urhobo which Uvwie Kingdom forms a part in particular and Niger Delta in general, Uvwie have not benefited enough. According to him, the restructuring of the Nigeria Federation would entail the devolution of political, economic, and security powers to the federating units or states.

Heavy duty petroleum tanker, today, Wednesday crashed on top of the Udu Bridge in Udu Local Government Area of the state, causing the free flow of traffic along that axis. It was gathered the tanker was coming from Warri and its attempt to climb the bridge, it gave way crashing on top of the bridge. Bailout magazine learnt that the driver of the vehicle narrowly escaped death as the truck nearly fell on the river. According to investigation, it was not clear if it was carrying petroleum products before it fell on the bridge.


Speaking to Bailout Magazine, a cross section of the passersby called on the road safety and other relevant authority to remove this truck from the bridge to give way for free flow of traffic. One of the tricycle riders who identified himself as Comrade Onoriode Lucky said, the vehicle has crashed on the bridge for the past two hours and no efforts have been made to remove it by the relevant authority which he said, has constituted and will constitute dangers to the people in area as night approached.

The Delta State Police Command has dismissed and arraigned in court in Asaba the state capital, an Inspector of Police, Inspector Ubi Ebri who allegedly shot dead one Onyeka Ibe recently in the state. In a press statement signed by the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe said the dismissed Inspector was today arraigned 19th April 2023 before Asaba Magistrate Court on a remand proceedings for the murder of the deceased after the Command had concluded its orderly room trial at the state headquarters.


According to the statement, the court ordered that the suspect be remanded at the Ogwashi -Uku Correctional Centre while the case file be sent to Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice and prosecution of the suspect by the office of the DPP.

Part of the statement reads:”The dismissed Inspector was today arraigned 19/4/2023 before Asaba Magistrate Court on a remand proceedings for the murder of Onyeka Ibe. The court ordered that the suspect be remanded at the Ogwashi- Uku Correctional Centre while the case file be sent to Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice and prosecution of the suspect by the office of the DPP”.

The exercise which was part of the activities to mark 15th coronation anniversary of the Monarch which kicked off about two weeks ago with 21 cannon shots is aimed at the sustenance of peace and good health in the kingdom. The “Peace Health Walk” which was said to be unprecedented started from the Monarch’s Palace to Shell Ram, the boundary between Uvwie Local Government Council and Warri South Local Government Council, a distance which is approximated to be 10 Kilometres.

The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward 9 in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, Mr. Vincent Okokoje was reportedly slumped and died. Confirming the incident, APC Ward 12 Chairman, Comrade Gabriel Omorere said they all attended a meeting together on Wednesday at the residence of an APC leader in Warri South, along Warri/Sapele Road, Chief Ojogri, saying, they got the report that APC stalwart died on Thursday morning.


He said:“We attended a meeting together at the residence of an APC leader in Warri South, Chief Ojogri on Wednesday along Warri/Sapele Road. We only got the news that he died on Thursday morning.”

According to Comrade Omorere, the death of Okokoje came as a rude shock to the APC in Warri South in particular and Delta State in general adding, late Okokoje was a gentleman, peace lover and his friendships knew no bound. He said the deceased was a very hardworking man and was among the three ward Chairmen who won their wards in the just concluded elections in Warri South Constituency 11.

The Operatives of Dragon 18 and 19, while on stop and search duty along Jeremi/Iwhrekan Road in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state, intercepted a tricycle with Reg No. GBB022 UN and the driver, one Isreal Sibito ‘m’ 58 years conveying three females and one male passenger was arrested.


In a press statement signed by the Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe and made available to newsmen said, the incident occurred on the 9th April, 2023 at about 1000 hrs. According to the statement, while search was being carried out, the male passenger who was later identified as Joseph Vincent ‘m’ age 24 years jumped down from the tricycle and ran into a nearby bush in an attempt to escape but the police did not let him go as they went after him and arrested him. The statement added that when search was conducted on him, two (2)- locally- made- berretta pistols were recovered from him while investigation is ongoing .

Reports reaching Bailout Magazine says, a youth leader known as Chief Sylvester Eferhobo was murdered by suspected assassins. The incident which was said to have happened in Easter Sunday night, 9th of April, 2023 in Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state threw the entire area into mourning because of the popularity of the deceased.


Chief Eferhobo who was said to be a staunch member of All Progressive Congress (APC) was axed to death not quite long he arrived home to meet with his family when he got a surprise friendly call between the hours of 8.pm and 9.pm asking him to come outside his house to attend to an urgent issue and unknowing to him, they were assassins .

Reports had it that immediately he stepped outside, his killers who were fully armed, shot at him several times but the bullets did not have any effect on him. It was gathered that, at that point, the assailants decided to drag him to a nearby bush where they used battle ax to ax him to death.

The Delta State Police Command has paid condolence visit to the family of late Onyeka Ibe who was shot dead by Inspector Ebri Ubi on the 5th Aprl, 2023. The visit which was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operation, DCP Johnson Adenola who represented the Commissioner of Police AIG Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, PSC+ and a team of Senior Police Officers, including the Area Commander, Asaba, the Police Public Relations Officers to the deceased’s family compound to commiserate with the family took place on the 17th April 2023.


In a press statement signed by the Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe said the Command expressed heartfelt sympathy for the deceased’s family.

According to the statement, the Command expressed sympathy with the family for the death of their son saying, the Command shared in the pain and agony of the family members. The statement added that late Onyeka was well known to many officers of the Command and a good friend of the Police adding, his death was highly regrettable. The statement said, there was no justification for the action of Inspr. Ubi hence the Command promptly arrested him to answer for his misdeed.

In a press statement by the Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe said, the Police Commissioner has directed that all Area Commanders, DPOs and Tactical Commanders to deploy men to all venues of the celebration and other resorts centres to see that adequate security is provided to avoid mischief makers committing mayhem before, during and after the celebrations.

Following the high rate of rapes, domestic violence and defilement of women among other crimes in the state, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council has condemned these acts in strong terms and therefore called on the law enforcement agencies to arrest and bring to book the perpetrators of these crimes.

In Communiqué issued at the end of the Congress of NUJ held at Press Centre, Asaba, the state capital on Wednesday April 5, and signed by Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, Chairman, the Delta State Council and Comrade Patrick Ochei, Secretary, said among other things, it is bad for the occurrence of these heinous crimes saying, persons involved should not go unpunished.

The body commended the His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for the robust relationship with the State Council of the NUJ and his media managers just as it expressed gratitude for the Governor to have granted the request of the Union to formalize the appointment of over sixty –five (65) workers of DBS Asaba and just appealed for the extension of the same gesture for their counterparts in DBS Warri and The Pointer Newspapers. The State Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council has passed a vote of confidence on the Comrade Michael Ikeogwu led State Working Committee, describing their actions in recent times as wonderful. In a press released signed by the 32 members of SEC present at the meeting held today, Wednesday 29th March 2023, said the SEC meeting deliberated on various issues affecting the Union and concluded that Ikeogwu and his Exco had done well, especially with the disbursement of money recently given to it by the State Government during the Quarterly Media Briefing by the Governor.


The statement said in a convivial atmosphere, members openly aired their views, and saw the need to pass a vote of implicit confidence on the State Working Committee to prove to detractors that the union is one and that the Exco had done well in managing the affairs of the Union.
