That was the point, I don't know why a lot of you don't get it. The new notes were not printed as replacement for the old ones. It was printed to withdraw the old notes from circulation so as to transition the economy into a cashless one where people do more of e-transaction for bulk sum. I think the policy was a good one but was badly implemented as they did not do enough sensitization prior to its rolling out. The banks too were lazy and did not lend their support which is the reason for the hardship most of us are experiencing. You do not transition cashless economy through that means of lesser new cash. Why didn't the old and new money run concurrently for a year like other developed countries.
