SECRET UNION

EPISODE 1

Her body was burning with heat as strong as volcanic lava, and the only one who could save her, was the man before her……

She clung tightly to the cold marble-like skin, her survival instinct eventually making her give up all resistance……

Pain was accompanied by pleasure slowly rising bit by bit, like a firework display going off in her mind, making her feel like she was a lone boat in a sea of fire……

Rising, then sinking, it was hard for her to free herself——

“Hey, wake up…… It’s cold here, don’t catch a cold——”

The pressure on her shoulders caused Ning Xi to wake up abruptly; her disoriented gaze met with the concerned eyes of the nurse. In an instant, her guilty conscience made her face blush, she wished she could crawl into a hole in the ground as she avoided the nurse’s gaze in shame.

Damn, although it has already been such a long time after that one drunken night, that hot night she had with Su Yan kept appearing in her dreams from time to time.

Thanks to being drunk to the point of unconsciousness, she did not have much memory of that night, otherwise she would not know how to face Yan-gege.

The nurse saw that she had finally woken up, and passed the papers in her hands to her: “You forgot to take your pregnancy health results, Dr Zhang would like you to come again next week!”

Ning Xi received the report, smiled sweetly, and carefully placed the papers in her own purse.

Su Yan was still studying overseas, he was coming back tonight. Thinking of the meeting tonight, Ning Xi unconsciously tensed up.

Because the area Su Yan was at was too inaccessible, it was only until the child was more than 7 months old that she finally contacted him.

Thinking of the shock that Su Yan had when he found out she was pregnant, Ning Xi was a little nervous.

Was it because she was particularly sensitive due to the pregnancy? Ning Xi felt that Su Yan was not as happy as she was about this.

The doctor reassured her saying that men were always like that with their first child, their mentality would take some time to change!

But…… it couldn’t be that, even regarding marriage, she would have to be the one to speak up?

The sun was burning brightly in the sky when she came out of the hospital.

Ning Xi struggled to support her waist, just as she was about to wave down a taxi, a dazzling red sports car rushed towards her.

Ning Xi’s heart thumped, and she retreated quite a few steps back.

Only to hear a screeching sound from the brakes, as the red sports car just brushed over the edge of her clothes, before stopping abruptly.

Ning Xi’s heart almost stopped; after slowly regaining her footing, she saw a woman, wearing a body-hugging red dress, toss her wavy hair as she stepped down from the car.

“Ning Xueluo, are you crazy?”

Ning Xueluo looked at her, laughing with deep meaning. With crossed arms, as if strutting on the catwalk, she swayed as she walked until she stood in front of Ning Xi. Using the advantage of her high heels, she arrogantly looked down on the big bellied Ning Xi: “What? Scared that I’ll kill the bastard in your stomach?”

Ning Xi subconsciously protected her abdomen, taking a step back, she looked at her warily: “Ning Xueluo! Don’t you go too far!”

Despite knowing that Ning Xueluo had always been at loggerheads with her, Ning Xi had not thought that she could speak such vicious words.

“Going too far? You’re the one who went too far! After getting drunk and doing it with some wild man and getting pregnant, then trying to make Su Yan become the father, tsk tsk…… Ning Xi, aren’t you so shameless!”

Ning Xi froze, “What nonsense are you saying?”

“Hey, don’t tell me you really believe that the man who slept with you that night, was Su Yan?” Ning Xueluo laughed before leaning back: “Saying that you grew up with Su Yan since you were kids with every other sentence, saying that you’re childhood sweethearts, and you don’t even know what his figure is like?”

Ning Xi grew paler as she listened, despite standing under intense sunlight, her whole body felt cold.

Yes, the man from that night……

She had only thought…… Su Yan was fitter than she had imagined after growing up.

Now with Ning Xueluo’s malicious reminder, she then suddenly recalled that, other than the body, the man from that night was indeed very different from Su Yan……

JUST A LITTLE SIN

EPISODE 1

I looked at the corpse again for the third time, I said within me that after this time, I wasn’t going to look towards that direction again. she was gone, I will never get to see her cat walk pass me, watch her laugh, roll her eyes and play around in her childish way with boys.

Even though she choosed another over me, I never wished her death not even once. All I prayed and wished for so long was for her relationship with Juru to crash but it never did, instead they grew stronger and stronger by the day.
I heard they break up several times and get back together. I also heard she dated Juru’s friend, Koni who was a real narcissist.
Koni refused to allow her get away. Koni and Juru were at war because of her.

I don’t know what becomes of them again, until a year later that I heard she was very sick and few days after the sick news another news broke out that Dunfi was dead.

Juru outsmarted me, He took the woman for me and turned her into his.
It was actually her choice but Juru rubbed it on my face too much.

I asked Dunfi to be my girlfriend first and she looked at me like I was a leper. I remember her waving her hand in the air trying to pull some annoyingly attitude in my front.
I was patiently waiting to see what her answer will be.
She rolled her eyes, curved her mouth before turning her head like a clown.
She must have thought that she was more beautiful with such act but she was rather looking like Zaza, our village crazy lady.
Dunfi was acting as if whatever I said was annoying and she was obviously making it seems I have a bad odour which she was trying to dodge.

No doubt, she was beautiful and very playful too. I liked her alot and it took me alot of time to muster courage to ask her out for a relationship after school that day, we were both seniors and alot of our class mates already has either girlfriend or boyfriend. I see no reason why mine should be any different.
Dunfi after her long display, told me that day she will think about my request and get back to me.

After two days, I try to remind her but she shunned me and said I shouldn’t bother her, she told me that she will think about it so I should stop pestering her and wait for her answer whenever she was ready to give me a feedback.

I decided not to bother her like she wanted, I wait with hope that she will agree to be my girlfriend.

A week passed my patience was begining to run out. Two weeks later I approached Dunfi to really know why the “thinking” was taking so long.
When she promised to think about my request, I thought it was going to be a day or two but is already two weeks and Dunfi is yet to get back to me.

When she saw me coming, she walked away and kept avoiding me untill we finally ran into each other.

“I can’t be your girlfriend now Tomasi, maybe later but not now because Juru recently asked me out and I have agreed to be his girlfriend. But you can still wait until I and Juru breaks up. By then I may accept to be your girlfriend but is still under probability, I may end up getting somebody better than Juru…so pray hard Tomasi and quit bothering me please…”

“Dunfi, but I asked you out first before Juru did, why did you..” I was still talking when she interrupted with a long hiss and started walking away.
She suddenly turned, walked back to me and said with mischievous smile on her face.
“I can choose anybody I want to date, Juru is my choice not you. If you care to know why you’re not my type, is because your breath stinks, you’re not smart, you’re not really good looking to my standard and you’re not even brilliant like Juru. You look unkempt and your name sounds very local. No beautuful, sensible lady in this school or outside the school will want to date somebody like you. You should be happy that I’m still considering you, which may even be impossible. I don’t move with your kind. I mingle with big boys…”

Just then she saw Juru coming from afar, she gave me another pathetic look before running to meet Juru.

I went in search for my best friend Larry, I asked him if my mouth smells after narrating my ordeal with Dunfi to him, Larry said no, that my breath does not smell except on few occasions.

I told Larry not to be afraid to tell me all the things that are wrong with me so that I can change them for good. I spoke very close to him maybe he will dictate the mouth odour.
I know Larry is very blunt, he will tell me the truth

“I can’t be afraid of you Tom, I still beat you to a fight yesterday. there’s nothing scary or intimidating about you? Larry said chuckling.

“Larry, about the fight I only allowed you to win because is more fun that way. you can’t beat me to a fight if I really mean to fight, deep down you know that is true. What I meant in my first statement is that do not think that whatever you say now will offend me because it won’t. go ahead and tell me the truth no matter how bitter it maybe..” I replied sounding very serious.

“I don’t care if you’re deliberately letting me win the fight, all that matters is that I still beat you. I have told you before to stop eating that thing your mother use to sell. The only time your mouth smells is whenever you eat that your mother’s corn mixed cake. You used to bring some to school which you eat during break or while in the class. I know you like the snacks and use to offer me some but that thing smells badly after eating it. The first time I ate it, my mouth was smelling like a dead rat. If you can stop eating it, you will be fine, maybe Dunfi will consider you..”

That was how I stopped eating my favorite snacks which was well prepared by my mother.
I told my mother when she queried me that the snacks suddenly began to purge me, it was upsetting my stomach and I no longer likes it.
She doubted but didn’t push further.

Dunfi will walk pass me with her friends they will began to laugh at me.
I even try to talk close to her so that she will see that my breath is cleared but nothing I do works.

Juru walked up to me one day, only to let me know that I’m a nobody and can never measure up to his dog at home. He said dogs eat bones not the real meat, so I should rather wait for some crumbs than fighting to have the main meat because such will never come to past.

I was very angry, I wanted to do something bad to Juru for saying such. I wanted to harm him but I couldn’t come up with anything.

If I get caught, my life will be worst than it was already.

After a year I heard that Dunfi died mysteriously and we her classmates were asked to pay a visit.

Very few of us came to pay our last respect.
As we matched round the coffin, where she lay I saw something.
when I was about looking away something caught my attention as she lay helplessly inside the wooden coffin, there was a finger mark and a small dot tattoo right on her neck, it looks fade but I’m very observant.

I looked at Juru, he was standing close to a wall with his friend, He was neither sad nor happy as they talk in a whisper.
His narcissist, bully of a friend Koni did not come.

I looked back at the tattooed mark on Dunfi’s neck again and knew who was behind her death.
Since I have discovered this mystery, I knew it was time for confrontation which I was ready and eager to do.
I was angrily staring at Dunfi, she really looks helpless. She choosed the big boys over me but even at that I will never wish her death.
We were only six boys and two of her girlfriends, ex classmates that came.
I hated the sight of her in there and it boils down in my marrows
Her beauty was almost fading off, her eyes were closed.
I waited with Juru and two other boys as she was lowered to the earth.

This is the time they will all know that the quiet Tomasi can be dangerous.

My next stop was a fight, I wasn’t going to lay low and pretend like I don’t know who was behind Dunfi’s mysterious death.
I saw the sign, I know who it was and I won’t keep quiet over it.

This was how it all began.

TALES OF A WITCHER

INTRO

Cheng Yan transmigrated only to end up in a medieval Europe like world, becoming Roland, a Royal Prince. But this world doesn’t seem to be the same as his former world, despite some similarities. Witches are real and they actually can use magic?

Follow Roland’s battle for the throne against his siblings. Will he be able to win, even though the king already declared him to be a hopeless case and with the worst starting situation? With his knowledge of modern technologies and the help of the witches, who are known as devils’ servants and are hunted by the the Holy Church, he might have a fighting chance. Now, let his journey begin.

EPISODE 1

Cheng Yan felt as if someone was calling him.

“Your Highness, wake up…”

He turned his head away, but the sounds he had heard did not disappear, instead they became even louder. Then, he felt someone gently tug on his sleeve.

“Your Highness, my Royal Prince!”

Cheng Yan opened his eyes immediately. He did not see any of the things he had grown familiar with—the screen was gone, the desk was gone, and so too, was the wall which he had plastered with Post-its. They were replaced by a strange scene—rows of small brick houses, a round public square that was crowded with people, and a door-shaped gallows that was erected in the middle of the public square. He was seated on an elevated platform from across the square. The chair he sat on was not his usual soft swivel chair, but instead, a cold and hard iron chair. Sitting alongside him was a group of people whose gazes were fixated upon him. Among them were a few young women who were dressed as medieval ladies like what he had seen in Western movies, and they were busy giggling among themselves.

“Where on Earth is this? Wasn’t I working urgently on my blueprints?” Cheng Yan’s mind was vacant, perhaps caused by three consecutive days of working overtime that had pushed him to the limit mentally and physically. All he could remember was when he finally broke down, his heartbeat began to palpitate unsteadily, and he wanted nothing but to lie on the office table for a brief rest…

“Your Highness, please announce your verdict soon.”

The speaker was the person that had quietly tugged on his sleeve. His face was old, seemingly in his fifties or sixties, and he wore a white robe. At first glance, had a little resemblance to Gandalf, from The Lord of the Rings.

“Am I dreaming?” Cheng Yan thought as he licked his dry lips. “Verdict, what verdict?”

He soon knew. The people in the public square were all looking in the direction of the gallows, while waving their fists and yelling as loud as they could. Some even threw stones at the gallows.

Cheng Yan had only ever seen such an ancient instrument of death in movies. The gallows of two pillars extending upwards about four meters from a raised base. The top ends of the two pillars were connected by a crossbeam, which was embedded with rusty metal rings for a thick yellow hemp rope to travel through. One end of the rope was tied to the frame of the gallows, and the other end was tied around the felon’s neck.

In this strange dream, he discovered that his eyesight was extraordinarily good. He would usually require glasses to read the words on a computer screen, but now, he could clearly see every detail of the gallows, which was fifty meters away, without his glasses.

The felon was hooded and her hands were tied behind her back. Her shabby gray garment was akin to a piece of rag. Her body was so emaciated that her ankles—the only part of her body which was exposed—seemed like they could be broken by pinching them. It was her faintly bulging chest which gave away that she was a female. She shivered terribly in the cold wind, yet she was observably trying hard to maintain her straight posture.

“Alright then,” Cheng Yan thought to himself, “exactly what crime did this woman commit that so many people are waiting with indignation for her to be executed?”

As he pondered, memories suddenly came flooding back to him, and the answer to his question abruptly appeared in front of him. Cheng Yan’s memories appeared, almost as if they’d suddenly been turned on and he realized the cause of the situation, and the answer to his question, at almost the same time.

She was a ’witch’.

Witches had degenerated after falling to the temptation of the Devil and are now the incarnation of impurity.

“Your Highness?” ‘Gandalf’ urged cautiously.

Cheng Yan glanced at the old man. Ohhh, actually, he’s called Barov and not Gandalf. He’s the Assistant Minister of Finance, and was sent here to assist me with government affairs.

As for myself, I’m the Fourth Prince of the Kingdom of Graycastle, named Roland, and I’m in charge of this place called Border Town. It was residents who caught and arrested the witch, and immediately brought her to the police station—no, it was the court of justice. The warrant to execute the witch would typically have been issued by the local lord or bishop, which, in this case, would mean me.

His memory answered every question he had indiscriminately. It was as though this bout of memories was derived from his personal experiences, rather than knowledge he had gained from his extensive reading. This confused him. A dream can never be as detailed as this, therefore is this not a dream? Could it be that I have travelled back in time to the dark ages of medieval Europe and became Roland? Have I transformed from an ignoble draftsman to a dignified prince?

Albeit this piece of territory seems barren and backward, and I’ve never seen the name ‘Kingdom of Graycastle’ in any history book.

Well, what should I do next?

I shall leave aside the question of how something scientifically impossible like time travel happened. Right now, I need to end this circus. Before civilization, it was common to assign the blame for disasters and misfortune to these pitiful witches, but Cheng Yan could not accept that they had to be executed as well to satisfy the dark desires of the audience.

He snatched the formal written orders from Barov’s hands, tossed them on the ground, stretched his arms and said languidly, “I’m tired. The judgement shall be postponed to another day. Court’s dismissed!”

Cheng Yan did not act recklessly or without thought. Instead, this was in accordance with his memory’s detailed recollection of the way that the prince behaved, and all he did was reenacting their willful manner. The Fourth Prince, Roland, was indeed this screwed up and abominable, and did whatever he wanted. Certainly, it was impossible for a twenty-something unruly prince to be well-cultivated.

The members of the noble who sat with him seemed unsurprised, but a tall man wearing a suit of armor stood up and argued. “Your Highness, this isn’t a joke! All witches should be put to death immediately upon being identified, or else, what can we do if other witches attempt to save her? The Church will get involved if they know of this.”

“Carter Lannis. This handsome man is my Chief Knight.” Cheng Yan frowned and replied, “Why? Are you scared?” His voice, which was full of blatant mockery, sounded natural. “How could a man, whose arms were thicker than a normal person’s body, be worried about witches breaking into our prison? Does he really think that witches are the mouthpiece of the Devil?” “Won’t it be better to catch a few more witches?”

As Carter remained silent, Cheng Yan signaled to his personal guards and left. Carter pondered for a moment before he decided to catchup with the guards and walked beside Prince Roland. The other nobles stood up and paid their respects to the prince, but Cheng Yan could see the disdain and contempt in their eyes.

Back in the keep, which was considered to be the castle in the south of Border Town, he ordered his guards to deny entry to the anxious Assistant Minister so that he himself could finally catch a brief respite.

As a person who had usually spent 90 percent of his time sitting in front of a computer, he had outdone himself by speaking in front of such an audience. Using his newly-gained memories, Cheng Yan located his bedroom, and then sat on the bed for a long rest which allowed his heartbeat to regain normalcy. At the moment, the most important matter was to clarify his situation. “Why is the prince not residing comfortably in King’s City, but instead sent to this desolate land?”

The answer popped up spontaneously and left him a bit flabbergasted.

Roland Wimbledon was sent here to contend for the throne.

It all started when the King of Graycastle, Wimbledon III, quizzically proclaimed, “The heirship of this kingdom will not be based on age, but instead, the capability to govern.” He then dispatched his grown-up sons and daughters to govern different territories, and after five years, he would decide his successor based on their level of governance.

Although the ideas of meritocracy and gender equality sounded progressive and futuristic, it was difficult to implement in reality. Who could guarantee that each of the five children faced the same initial conditions? After all, this was not a real-time strategy game. According to his new knowledge, the Second Prince was given a much better territory than Border Town. In fact, among the five of them, none had a place as bad as Border Town, and thus he had a huge disadvantage.

Furthermore, he wondered how the level of governance would be assessed. By population? Military power? Economic standing? Wimbledon III did not mentioned his criteria, nor did he put the slightest restriction on their methods of competition. In case someone secretly assassinated the other candidates, what would he do? Would the queen stand by and watch as her children kill one another? “Wait…” He carefully recalled another memory. “That’s right, another piece of bad news is that the Queen died five years ago.”

Cheng Yan sighed. This was obviously a barbaric and dark time during the feudal era. The way that people wanted to kill witches recklessly was enough to give him a few hints. Yet, even if he did not attain heirship, he would forever be a blood prince of Graycastle, and would be the Lord of a Realm for as long as he lived.

Furthermore… so what if I become the king? There isn’t Internet or other comforts of modern civilization. Like the locals, the only fun thing I’ve to do is burning witches. And living in a city where shit is excreted and dumped anywhere and everywhere, won’t I eventually die of the Black Death?

Cheng Yan suppressed his chaotic thoughts and walked up to his bedroom mirror. The man looking back at him in the mirror had light gray hair, which was the royal family’s most distinctive feature. Although his facial features were regular, his face lacked a proper shape and seemed devoid of royal disposition. His pale face gave away his lack of physical exercise. He recalled from his new memories that he did not indulge much in wine or women. He did have several sexual relationships while in King’s City, and all of them were consensual. He had never forced anyone into an affair with him.

He also discovered a probable reason for his time travel. Because of his company’s urgency to make progress on a project, his boss had arranged consecutive nights of overtime work for him that caused him to die of exhaustion. The victims of such a case were usually coders, mechanical engineers, and programmers.

“Forget it, no matter what, at least I got the equivalent of an extra life, and therefore I really shouldn’t complain too much.” He began to wise up to the fact that he would probably adjust to this life in the days to come, but that for now, the most important mission was to act well as the Prince Roland and not let anyone find out. Or else, they may believe that the Devil had possessed the real Prince Roland, and immediately burnt him at the stake. “So, most importantly, live well. ” Cheng Yan took a deep breath, and whispered towards the mirror, “From now on, I’m Roland.”

THE RISE OF A SLAVE GIRL

EPISODE 1

What, are you stupid?”

Those were the words spoken to me the day I asked the girl I was interested in out. She completely dismissed me. I could only stare in shock as she laughed and then walked back to her group of friends. She whispered a few words, all of them turned to me and then laughed.

Ow… that really hurt. We had worked on a project together. I had even done most of the work while she went to her cheerleading finals. In the end, I had gotten her full marks. I really thought that would have meant something. However, when seeing the disdain on her face now, I realized that she had just used me.

After school, I got my ass beaten by the school sports team. How should I know that a guy on the baseball team liked the girl, and took offense to me asking? Wasn’t the fact that she rejected me enough? Apparently not, because the bullies said I needed to be shown my place in the world.

“Don’t even try to talk to her again, fatty.” The guy in charge kicked me one last time while I was already in a fetal position.

Classy.

After getting thrashed, I finally managed to crawl to my bike and made it home. My house was empty. My father died a few years ago in a car accident, and my mother worked all the time. I had no other siblings. That means no cute sisters or loyal brothers. Well, that was probably for the best. I was overweight and unpopular. I would probably just be an embarrassment to any sibling who knew me.

I headed over to the bathroom and pulled out a first-aid kit. One thing I had always been good at was taking care of myself. First aid, sewing, cooking, cleaning… I was responsible for all those duties. I carefully cleaned up my wounds and tended them. I swear my wounds healed faster when I was the one tending them. Ah, well, I finished quickly and leaned back, taking a small break.

“I want a girlfriend.”

Even after my bad experience, I still really wanted to be in a relationship with someone. I just wanted a girl to come home to. I was okay with even being an at-home husband. I could take care of the kids and clean the house. That would really be the life. Was it too much to ask for? I sighed as my stomach grumbled. There would be no food unless I got up to make something.

Heating some water, I cooked up some instant ramen and ate it. I wasn’t fat because I ate too much. Instead, it was the quality of food. My mom and I didn’t have a lot of money, so naturally, I ate mostly cheap junk. It was rare when I could have a decent meal, and my mother never cooked. She was always way too tired to do anything, so I ended up being the cook in the house. If I had access to decent ingredients, I might have even been a decent cook.

After eating supper, I headed to my room and sat down in front of my small 22-inch TV. Picking up a bag of games I had picked up from the used media store, I started glancing through them. I was always thrifty, so the games I selected were from the discount bin. My games were always last-gen and clearance. That meant I got a lot of stinkers, but they passed my time. Occasionally, I found a hidden gem, and that was what I loved the most. I liked hunting for hidden treasures. The gains usually outdid the losses.

“What is this one?”

I noticed a game that I didn’t remember picking up at all. It had no labels on the outside at all. I glanced at the back, and there were absolutely no words on the case whatsoever. Out of curiosity, I pulled off the wrapping and opened the case. There was a game cartridge and written on it were just two words in a simple font.

It was called Dungeon Life. I noticed an insert in the case and pulled it out. Like the game, it contained no art and was just a paragraph of words.

Are you tired of your world? Do you want Adventure? Money? Food? Women? Join the Dungeon Life, where you make money hunting monsters, obtaining rare drop items, and earning treasures. Form a party of various classes to help you work your way down each dungeon and eventually defeat the dungeon boss. Each dungeon you conquer earns you wealth, fame, and dungeon points. Let the adventure begin.

CHANCE TO LIVE MY LIFE AGAIN

INTRO

Beep beep beep!

A bus darted down the road, its horn blaring frantically . First swerving left, then hard to the right… Whoever drove it had clearly lost control of the vehicle . The speed it accumulated threatened to flip it over at any time . The other drivers on the road frantically stopped their cars to avoid it .

The bus crossed several lanes in the road before forcing its way up onto the empty sidewalk .

Bang!

The bus came to an abrupt halt as it slammed into an electric pole, which promptly fell down onto the vehicle . The people nearby got out of their cars and started gathering around the now wrecked bus . The doors of the bus opened, with the passengers inside spilling out with a panicked look .

“Someone call 119!” A shout come amidst the escapees .

“The driver’s dying!”

October 3rd, 2031 .

A bus driver by the name of Han Maru passed away . He was 45 on the day of his death .

* * *

What were your regrets in life?

It was the first thing on Maru’s mind as he opened his eyes . He heard the sound of waves crashing against the beach near him . A cool breeze washed over his face as he sat up to look around .

Where was he?

“You’re awake . I was just about to wake you up . ” A voice of a woman came up from behind him, confusing him even more .

“This is . . . ” Maru trailed off .

Thankfully, the woman seemed to know exactly what he was confused about .

“You’ll know where you are in a second . Just think . ”

Maru understood his situation as soon as he heard the woman in the white shirt . He found himself being quite amazed by his realization, but immediately ended up looking a bit bitter .

“So I died . ” Maru confirmed .

The woman simply affirmed his suspicions . “Yes, you did . ”

“Are you an angel?” Maru asked with a curious look .

The woman smiled wryly at the question . “Sort of . Some call me an angel, others, the grim reaper . Titles aren’t very important though . What I’m about to say now is . ”

The woman started walking forward with fairly wide steps . Maru paced himself a little bit faster than usual to try and keep up . After around a minute of walking, they came across the sole parasol in the entire beach .

The woman motioned onto the chair underneath . “Please, sit . ”

And so Maru did . The woman continued after sitting down on a chair herself . “Mr . Han, you died precisely on October 3rd, 11:23:14 . Do you remember how you died?” Surprisingly enough, Maru could remember it .

“Yes,” he responded .

Maru recalled the event almost as if it were a distant memory . He was driving the bus to its final stop . Just then, something came flying down the road, making a beeline towards him . It broke through the front window, slamming into his chest before falling down next to his seat . If he remembered correctly, it was something that resembled a hammerhead .

He felt his breathing weakening rapidly, followed by gradually loss of his motor control .

Maru stepped on the brakes and swerved onto the empty sidewalk– he had to keep the passengers safe . At the time, making a stop at the sidewalk seemed like the best course of action . And then… nothing . He found himself at this place the next time he woke up . This led to one question in his mind .

“Were the passengers… safe?” He asked .

“Thanks to you, yes . Everyone survived . If you had given up half way you would’ve run right into a truck and killed everyone . ” The woman responded .

That made Maru feel a little bit better . “That’s… good . ”

Not by much, though . He may have saved others, but he was still dead . Who would take care of his wife and daughter now? That was when he remembered his life insurance .

“500 million won should be able to support my child somewhat until she grows up, right?”

The woman smiled at his question . “You must be thinking about your family . ”

“Yes . My daughter’s just about to enter high school . I was never able to do anything for her because of my pay, but with that money . . . ” Maru wiped a tear from his eye .

“Mr . Han . ” the woman asked .

“Yes?” He responded .

“Would you like to live your life again?” Maru became speechless for a second .

“What?”

At that moment, an old lady in white traditional attire walked out from behind the woman . Maru knew this lady very well . She was his neighbor . The one who made a living out of picking up paper waste, Mrs . Yu Bokja .

“Mother . ” That was what Maru called the lady .

She wasn’t his real mother of course . He just started calling her that as they started talking with each other .

“Mrs . Yu decided to give her chance to you, Mr . Han . ” the woman said .

“Chance?” What chance?” The woman was only managing to confuse him more by the second .

“The chance to live once more . ” The woman said .

That explanation didn’t really help much, unfortunately . The old lady walked over to gently grip Maru’s hands .

“I lived fairly happily thanks to you . I’m grateful for the fact that you cared for me more than my children . ” Maru looked down at the lady’s wrinkled hands . He used to help her out whenever he saw her carry around that cart by herself during wintertime . He didn’t do it because he expected anything back . He just wanted to see the lady smile every once in a while .

“You’re saying I can live my life again in your stead, mother?” He asked . The woman affirmed instead from the side .

“Yes,” she said .

Maru shook his head firmly in refusal . “You shouldn’t, mother . I don’t deserve . . . ”

The old lady cut him off in the middle of his sentence . “I’m not interested in living my life again . It was horrible . I don’t want to experience war again . I don’t want to live a life where I have to run away all the time again . This is much better for me . All my friends are with me up in heaven as well . ”

The lady smiled gently before continuing . “You’re different though, Maru . You’re still young . I couldn’t bear to see you go just like that . ” The lady gripped Maru’s hand a little tighter . “Consider this a gift for talking with me all the time . ”

“Mother . . . ” Maru didn’t know what to say .

“Please accept this chance for me . ”

With that, the lady faded away from view . Maru just turned to look at the woman in a daze .

“There are a few restrictions, of course,” she explained . ”Your memories won’t be complete, so you can’t win lotteries with your memories . ”

“Can I really begin again?”

The woman nodded in confirmation . Maru started to ponder . What would it be like… To live his life all over again? A question popped up in his head as he thought to himself .

“Um . . . ” “You can meet your current wife . ” she answered the question for him . “The choice to meet her again is up to you of course, Mr . Han . Ah, you’ll also get a few abilities going in . ”

“Abilities?” What sort of abilities? Abilities that appear in comic books? Or abilities in the sense that he could cook better than others? The woman didn’t seem to want to answer his question this time, though .

“Consider it a gift for making many people happy . It’s also something from Mrs . Yu who just went back up to heaven . ”

At this point, Maru started wondering just who Mrs . Yu was for the first time . What kind of a lady was she up in heaven that let her give him so many things? Again, the woman seemed to have read his thoughts .

“She’s someone who spread around unspeakable amount of kindness to the world as she lived . That’s why I offered her to live again . Though, that gift has now been given to you . ”

The woman extended her hand towards him . There was a small pill sitting in her palm .

“If you eat this, you’ll be able to go back to your teenage years . ”

“By that . . . ”

“First year of high school . ” she answered .

Maru couldn’t remember much of high school . Just a few friends he still kept in contact with maybe? After around two decades, most of his memories from that time had become faint .

“You’ll be able to know a bit more when you wake up . ”

Maru received the pill . The woman was smiling towards him .

“Please don’t be so giving in this life . It’s good that you tried to make others happy, but you sacrificed so much doing it . ”

Maru smiled faintly . “I don’t think about other people that much . ”

He looked at the pill one last time . He wasn’t so sure if he really wanted to go back to his time in high school . Suddenly, a wrinkled hand appeared from somewhere and pushed the pill into his mouth . When Maru looked back in surprise, the visage of the old lady smiling greeted him .

“Please have fun this time . ”

With that, Maru lost his consciousness again .

* * *

Oftentimes, many people think to themselves, “if only I could go back to that time . . . ” By the time they recover from all of their entrance exams, they have to start worrying about getting a job . Once they find a job and settle down a little bit, they have to deal with pressure from their bosses . When they finally move up the rungs a little to catch their breaths, their kids are right about to go to college .

If they knew it would be this hard… Why didn’t they take the time to have fun back then? Why didn’t they try harder back then? Why did they make that decision back then? Every day, millions, maybe even tens of millions of people look back on their past with some regret .

And… Han Maru realized that such a dream has become a reality for him . He could hear the computer humming silently behind him . The monitor was off, but the fans of the main tower were still working hard . He noticed a little list smacked onto the wall next to him . Resolutions he made as he graduated middle school, was it?

“Phew . ” He sat up as he massaged his temples with his thumbs . He could feel the heat of the electric blanket gather straight onto his butt .

Maru let out a small laugh . This small room . These messy clothes all around him . That pile of comic books in the corner, and that old book from the library that he never actually got around to reading . That half eaten bag of chips from last night next to his computer . His new bag sitting right next to his bedside, and…

Maru tried fumbling around a bit under his pillow . There it was . His phone . It was a habit that never went away even until the moment of his death . After stepping on his phone the first thing in the morning, he built the habit of leaving his phone next to or below his pillow whenever he went to sleep .

“Second year of high school, was it?” he mumbled to himself .

Maru slid open the unfamiliar phone in his hand . Right . This was what phones looked like around this time . But in a little while…

“What was it, again?”

He remembered that phones changed in design, but he couldn’t quite remember how it changed .

“So it’s like this, huh . ” Maru realized .

Maru recalled the words of the woman from a while back . About how his memories would be incomplete . He couldn’t recall most things from his life back when he was 45 . As a matter of fact, he could remember more about the food he ate yesterday more clearly .

“Pooper, Bigfoot, Dicklord, Salmon, Bigeye . . . ”

He could remember the nicknames of his middle school friends as clear as day . The only thing he could remember from when he was 45 was… The fact that his bus’s number was 32 . He couldn’t remember the name of the company though .

Maybe this was why he didn’t feel so confused when he woke up? His previous life’s memory didn’t conflict with his current one very much . It felt like he just woke up after a very long dream . A dream he couldn’t recall so well after waking up .

There were a few things he could remember for sure though . The fact that he had a daughter who would get a minor seizure every time she smelled his foot, and the fact that he had a wife that was kind enough to love him . He could remember his family .

Maru looked up at the ceiling .

“So I really am… back . ”

TALE OF THE COLD EMPEROR

EPISODE 1

[ A/N: This episode shows how and why MC died, The story starts in the and MC’s char will develop into a fine one as the story progresses while he experiences many ups and downs. ]

My name is Athan, My parents passed away when I was small, and since then, I’ve been living with my uncle and aunt, who took care of me like I was their real child.

When I took 1st rank in the exam for the first time, Uncle and aunt were very happy, so I worked hard and got 1st rank every time after that.

When I turned 16, my uncle and aunt moved to a different city, so I transferred to my new school.

There was a girl in my class, very beautiful; her name was Lily; I think I fell in love with her, but I was not one to express my inner feelings, so I just kept them to my self and studied hard just like I did in my previous school to make my uncle and aunt happy.

But When I achieved rank 1 in my new school and that by a large margin compared to 2nd, I got a pleasant surprise; the most beautiful girl in my class Lily approached me for study-related help; I was so happy I was on cloud nine.

We talked every day, and I thought that my life was perfect, but one day, three boys from my class suddenly approached me after school, They threatened me to stop having interactions with Lily, or they will break my limbs, of course, I did not take them seriously at first.

But after another week, when I was walking home from school, a van suddenly stopped beside me when i passed through a hollow alley, and I was kidnapped, They took me to some abandoned place, and they beat me up, They did not break my limbs, but They hurt me bluntly in places that can not be seen after wearing clothes.

The ones who beat me up were those 3 boys in my class and 2 adult man who drove the van. They once again threatened me, saying that if I continued to interact with Lily, they would also trouble my uncle and aunt on top of breaking my limbs. So I told Lily to stop talking to me Because I don’t want to cause trouble to my uncle and aunt because of my matters. They are already sharing the love of their two children with me and I absolutely don’t want to trouble them because of my matters.

I also did not say anything to my uncle and aunt about my injuries because I did not want them to worry for me as they also have their own little son and daughter to care for.

But after a week, Lily suddenly showed up at my house.

In A Big Mansion, The so-called Boss Lanry, who looked around the age of 18, was having fun with a woman who was around 30 years old on a king-sized bed.

Beside the bed was a small table and on it was a telephone which started ringing.

*trrrrink trrrrink*

Lanry stopped and moved towards the table’s direction before he stretched his hand to pick up the phone.

” Whatever is it, It better be important!! now speak. ” Lanry spoke in foul mood as he was interrupted during his fun hours.

A rough sound of man came from the other side of the phone, ” Boss Lanry, Madam Lily visited that boy’s house with a small bag; we don’t know her purpose for visiting him. What should we do? ”

” That fucker, I’m tired of hearing about him. Kidnap that bastard tomorrow and kill him; I’ll handle the police work and media…wait, don’t just kill him directly. Torture him first before killing him. ”

” Ok, Boss. ”

Somewhere near Athan’s house, A buff body man muttered while shaking his head, ” Boss directly skipped to killing this time….that unfortunate boy would get torture before dying tomorrow sigh, such is the society. ” [ A/N: such is the society in Earth-619 in multiverse which is my planet ]

” Hello, My name is Rosy Fox, I’m here with the latest news; today morning, A dead body of a 16-year-old boy was found in the abandoned storehouse behind National High-School; from the signs on his body, He was tortured pretty badly before his death; currently The police is doing its best to find the perpetrators. ”

5 hours ago, In the abandoned warehouse behind the National High school.

A badly tortured boy was lying on the floor with blood all over his body; his nails were dug out, hair pulled out, and many slash marks over his face and body, and in front of him were 3 other boys of similar age while the ones responsible for this torture were standing behind Athan, They were two adult men.

The boy opened his mouth and said in a weak voice, ” Wh-why, are you doing this to me? I did as you told me and stopped talking to her, so why? ”

One of the boys among the group spoke with a shout, ” WE TOLD YOU MANY TIMES TO STAY AWAY FROM HER. YOU KNOW HER IDENTITY? SHE IS ENGAGED TO BOSS LANRY, although she doesn’t know that, it was decided by their parents long ago. ”

Another boy spoke with a sneer, ” But What drove Boss Lanry to kill you was the thing that happened yesterday; Boss Lanry found out that Lily came to your house after school yesterday, and who knows what you two did in your house, hehe.”

Athan’s tears rolled out as he spoke while enduring the pain all over his body and face, ” We did nothing, I didn’t even invite her; I also told her to stop talking to me at school last week, that’s why she never talked to me since last week, and the reason she came to my house was that she wanted to return the book I lent to her a few weeks ago. ”

” So what? hahaha, your fate is sealed now.”

” Boss Lanry told us to kill you, and that is final. ”

” Just consider yourself unfortunate and move on, hahaha.”

Athan’s eyes had pain, despair, unwillingness, and anger as he passed away.

But Fate has something different in store for Athan.

THE LUSTING WORLD

EPISODE 1

‘Ok that’s pretty hard’. Rick sighed while he pushed his bike around. Today was not particularly a lucky day for Rick as he was facing some hard time. First thing in the morning he got a mail regarding his entrance test result for a reputed school in the city and despite giving his best he didn’t qualify for it.

And although none in his immediate family will blame him for it but now Rick was in a dilemma, should he settle for a less reputed school or should he apply for another school in another city.

Rick has a family supporting him at every point of life. His loving mother taking care of him since his childhood even when his father was not not available for him and was busy with his work. His father although absent from his early years while he was growing up, was the constant source of motivation in his life. His sister was the focus of his adoration, her cheerful laughter got rid of any worries he had.

So when his results arrived he had a thoughtful morning. When his mother saw him she can see the tension on his face.

‘Hey Rick’ his mother called him.

‘Yeah mom’ Rick answered.

‘Would you be kind enough to fetch some groceries for the house as we are running pretty low on it’

‘Sure mom I will be free in an hour’ Rick replied in a monotonous voice.

Rick washed up as it was going to be afternoon in a few minutes. He got ready and left his house to go towards the local mall. While on the way his bike broke down and now he is pushing it around.

Rick was waiting on the signal when he realised a lady with a child cart that she was holding on to while on the opposite end of the road crossing. While looking towards her and appropriating her beauty he didn’t realise that the signal was green now.

When he was getting ready to cross the road, he can see a fast moving car in his peripheral vision. Realisation struck him that the car is not slowing down at any rate and maybe the lady with the child might be in danger. Sensing that trying to warn her would not be possible now. He rushed towards them.

All his life Rick was not a heroic guy. He himself didn’t realise how he got the idea of helping her just in the spur of the moment.

Result you ask? Well Rick is now on the road lying down in a pool of blood, most probably his own.

‘This is a quite a disappointing end.’ when tried to open his eyes, he can see the face of the mother of the child. At this point of time her face was nothing less then that of a fairy. He can see her mouth moving.

‘Ohh, she must be screaming for help. Sorry, to disappoint you lady I can feel my internal organs rupturing, I don’t think I can survive this haha’ Rock thought. Rick’s hearing faculties had been collapsed.

Last thing he saw was a car stopping by and she carried him to it with help from some pedestrians. And then he closed his eyes never to open them again in this life.

‘Well atleast the mother child pair was saved’ was the last lingering thought in his mind. In his last moments he was worried for his family how they will take his loss. How they will move forward with their lives.

* * *

Yu Bokja .

“Chance?” What chance?” The woman was only managing to confuse him more by the second .

That explanation didn’t really help much, unfortunately . The old lady walked over to gently grip Maru’s hands .

SON OF GOD IN THE CITY

EPISODE 1

“Ye Mo, Ye Mo, are you alright? Get up quickly, the class is about to start. This is Merciless Ice’s class, hurry up and get up!” a concerned voice called near Ye Mo’s ear; Ye Mo had a very strange feeling.

“This idiot, he probably doesn’t have the face to see anyone, that’s why he’s covering up his face,” another voice was making fun of him, but now, Ye Mo was wide awake.

Ye Mo looked around him, confused. There was no one he knew, and he was surrounded by a sea of unfamiliar faces.

Seeing Ye Mo’s lost face, there was another roar of laughter. It was quite obvious that all these laughs were directed at him. Seeing that everyone around him was laughing at him, he didn’t dare to question anything for the time being, but instead could only be vigilant in case someone attacked him.

Ye Mo looked at the student sitting beside him. He was the only one who refrained from laughing at him, and it was the same person who woke him up.

“Where am I? Who are you? Why does this look like a classroom?” Ye Mo asked in astonishment.

“Haha…” There was another roar of laughter.

“Ye Mo, I think you’re so angry that you have become dumb. Do you think Yan Yan is someone you can write a love letter to? It was okay if you were still in the Ye Family, but now, you’re not. Be careful next time. The next class is English, and the teacher is Yun Bing[1]. Don’t be caught by her,” Ye Mo’s desk-mate whispered in his ear. The voice was so low that only Ye Mo could hear it. It was evident that he was anxious too.

“I really can’t remember. My headache was awful just then, and I forgot a lot of things,” Ye Mo helplessly said.

His desk-mate sighed. Of course, he wouldn’t believe that Ye Mo would forget everything in such a short moment, he thought that it was just that Ye Mo needed to save his face and that he still hadn’t realized that he was no longer Ye Mo of the Ye Family.

Suddenly, Ye Mo felt a sudden pulse of pain in his head. He remembered that he was making the Energy Returning pill with his master Luo Ying, then those bastards from the Western Flow Group attacked and there were all sorts of explosions and battles. After that, his master carried him and used an escape paper charm. But how could he appear here? Was this still the Luo Yue Continent?

Moreover, he was sitting here safe and sound, but what happened to his master? His master was only three years older than him, and the reason that the Western Flow Group attacked them was that his master was too gorgeous. The young master of the Western Flow Group wanted to marry his beautiful master, but alas, he was rejected. This had been the cause of their fight.

If his master were in the hands of the Western Flow Group, then the consequences would be unimaginable. Thinking about this, Ye Mo could no longer contain the worry in his heart and suddenly stood up.

“What is it, don’t you know the bell for the class has rung?” A cold-faced young woman walked up to the class podium with a few books between her arms. She scanned the students laughing in the class with a chilling gaze, and immediately after, the laughter dissipated. Everyone knew this English class was run by Yun Bing, and what she hated the most was students creating commotions. If she had her eyes on a student, then it was safe to say that nothing good would come out of that.

Ye Mo had already felt that something was not right. Although he could understand these words, the language was obviously not what he had used before. Was this no longer Luo Yue Continent? Frowning, Ye Mo wanted to know more. Another wave of a headache came, and he suddenly recalled all sorts of information.

Ye Mo was a member of the third generation of the Ye Family. His father, Ye Wentian, had passed away two years before, and he had no recollection of his mother. After his father had passed away, he was exiled from the Ye Family; this was because he was not Ye Wentian’s biological son according to a DNA test conducted in the aftermath of his death.

However, he still remembered his little sister Ye Ling and younger brother Ye Zifeng. Alas, they were both not of the same mother as him, but of the same father. Three years ago, his father seemed to foresee the eventual exile of Ye Mo, so he asked his own father to request for a marriage with the Ning Family. Since Ye Wentian had full knowledge of his poor health, he wanted to find a backup for Ye Mo. Thus, he found the Ning Family of Beijing.

Being able to have a marriage with the top five families of China, the Ning Family was, of course, very glad to oblige. The head of the Ning Family betrothed his grand-daughter to Ye Mo. Three years ago, Ning Qingxue, who was only 21 at the time, was already the prettiest lady in the entire capital.

Meanwhile, Ye Mo became the disaster of the Ye Family, and the reason was simple. In one hospital check up, Ye Mo was discovered to be naturally impotent. In other words, he couldn’t reproduce. Although the Ye Family tried very hard to conceal this matter, it seemed that all the people in the capital knew it in only one night. One of the 5 greatest families of China, the Ye Family had a naturally impotent member, which made the Ye Family losing a considerable amount of honor.

“Argh…” after his memory recovered to this point, Ye Mo suddenly shouted in agony and stood up. He almost took his pants down to have a look immediately. He understood that he could have possibly reincarnated on someone also called Ye Mo, but the worst was that he actually couldn’t have s*x. He’d rather die than be like this.

“You, what is your name, and how dare you yell in my class?! Come to my office after the class!” The pretty teacher was interrupted by Ye Mo’s scream, causing her to become livid.

All the other students in the class sniggered and smothered their laughs. Making a university student routinely visit her office was something only this English teacher could do. Furthermore, one had to go because their marks were at stake.

Ye Mo dejectedly sat down. Although he wasn’t too sure about the warring amongst prominent families, he knew that he was probably kicked out of the Ye Family because he was naturally impotent, rather than his lack of a biological link with his father. Plus, who knew what actually happened to the data from the DNA analysis?

Ye Mo wasn’t concerned about being exiled from the Ye Family. He didn’t care about that at all. What he cared about was his natural impotence and how his master, Luo Ying, was doing.

But now, he also understood why the students in his class were laughing at him. It was because the soul who owned this body before was already kicked out of the Ye Family but still wanted to go for the hottest girl in the class, Yan Yan. In the end, she stuck his love letter on the blackboard, stood on the podium looking at him contemptuously and said: “Young Master Ye, would you be able to get it on in bed with me?”

So this was the reason the whole class laughed at him. The original Ye Mo probably died due to the humiliation. Making a naturally impotent person go in bed with her, this was like smacking him in the face. Although that person wasn’t actually him, Ye Mo’s face still sank.

He looked at the girl called Yan Yan. She was very curvaceous; however, that b*tchy act made Ye Mo feel really repulsed. He really couldn’t understand why the original owner of this body wanted to pursue her. Finally, after thinking about it for a moment, Ye Mo realized that, when Ye Mo was still in the Ye Family, everyone was trying to suck up to him, including that girl called Yan Yan. However, after the news of him being naturally impotent was spread out, he felt that he lost face and wanted to find a girlfriend. Unfortunately, he didn’t think that the girl that sucked up to him so much before would treat him like this. Under such humiliation, he fainted, allowing the current Ye Mo to reincarnate.

He was actually reborn into a place like this; he couldn’t understand a word the beautiful teacher was saying on the podium. He organized his memory, and his face sank. Leaving his impotence problem aside, the fact that the spirit Chi of Heaven and Earth was so scarce here was something he couldn’t accept. This wasn’t a place for cultivation. He wondered if he really was going to die on this place called Earth?

It no longer mattered if he still went to this university. The most important thing was to understand his predicament. His impotence had undermined the reputation of the Ye Family. Although he was kicked out, who knew if he would be suddenly killed? Perhaps other things happened which resulted in him being kicked out. Right now, was he even safe?

At the end of the class, Ye Mo rushed out of school in a hurry, neglecting his trip to the teacher’s office. He needed to find a place to check himself and see if he was really naturally impotent.

The good thing was, there were quite a lot of alleyways around Ning Hai University. Ye Mo rushed into a deserted alley and hurried to pull down his pants.

His doodle was indeed tiny, but Ye Mo wasn’t disappointed just because his doodle was small. Instead, he let out a real sigh of relief. He wasn’t naturally impotent. It was because his doodle was too small that one of the meridians had been blocked from developing, creating this fake impotence. Before he cultivated on the Luo Yue Continent, he was a master in the medical field, so he knew what the situation was with only one glance.

Unfortunately, it was impossible to break open this blocked meridian with the current technology on Earth; however, this wouldn’t be hard for Ye Mo. Although he didn’t possess the ability to open the blocked meridian just yet, as long as he reached the third stage of Chi Gathering, this meridian would open itself.

However, Ye Mo was beginning to get disappointed again. This was because the spirit Chi was so scarce on Earth, and it would be a daunting task for him to reach the 3rd stage of Chi Gathering. In fact, he might not even be able to approach it his entire life. That way, his impotence would never change. After sighing, Ye Mo just wanted to pull up his pants. Suddenly, a scream shook his heart.

“Scumbag!!” This was definitely a high-pitched woman’s voice, and it sounded right in front of Ye Mo. Just then, Ye Mo was only focused on checking his doodle, so he forgot to look around at the situation. He didn’t think that this alley was connected to anything, it was just that the turn was further in, and he couldn’t see it.

Ye Mo wasn’t a nudist. More than that, he also didn’t have any assets to exhibit. He hurriedly pulled up his pants and was about to run away.

“Ye Mo, is that you?” After this woman had yelled, she used another very surprised tone and asked. She obviously knew Ye Mo.

MY ALL FOR YOU

EPISODE 1

“Hurry up, Jiang Yao, we have to go now!”

The door suddenly burst open and Wen Xuehui, who was drenched in rain, charged into the room anxiously. Jiang Yao looked at her, puzzled and confused. “What’s wrong?”

Wen Xuehui, being an impetuous person, didn’t have the time and patience to explain everything. She quickly packed a few items of Jiang Yao’s clothing, grabbed an umbrella, and s.n.a.t.c.hed some of the important doc.u.ments on the table and placed them into a bag before charging out of the dormitory while pulling Jiang Yao with her. She didn’t even close the door.

When Jiang Yao arrived downstairs, she found that everyone in her block had gathered on the field. There was a team of Support Guards in uniform standing before them, but she couldn’t see their faces with their backs turned on her under the heavy rain.

2“Those who have already come down, leave at this instant. Don’t wait any longer,” the princ.i.p.al ushered in a tone of great dismay and anxiety.

Heavy rain had been pouring into this small valley in the mountain for a week in a row. Since two days ago, the villagers had been jittery and panicky for what would happen in the near future.

2“What’s going on?” Jiang Yao asked in a low voice while catching up to Wen Xuehui’s swift footsteps.

“This horrible weather, that’s what’s going on. Because of the week-long downpour, there are many landslides in the village today and our village is no longer safe. The village head has asked for the support of the nearby volunteer guards and he wants to evacuate the whole village by tonight. Unfortunately, the road is too rugged for the guards’ cars to come in, so we have to walk to the junction where they’ve parked their car and escape.”

Wen Xuehui was talking nineteen to the dozen, indicating her anxiety and anguish. “See those guards there? They are here to help us.”

At Wen Xuehui’s remark, Jiang Yao turned and looked behind her. She saw two guards and the princ.i.p.al following behind them. One of the guards noticed Jiang Yao looking at him. He managed a shy smile and a wave, then tugged at his comrade by his side, who was keeping his head down as if looking for something on the ground.

The princ.i.p.al was pacing anxiously, presumably still worried about other people. He turned and said to the guards, “Comrades, I have to excuse myself to check on the other villagers elsewhere. Both of them are doctors from the city. They are our benefactors, our guardian angels who have been looking after us, the old folks in this village, over the years. Please escort them to safety and take good care of them.”

“You take care of yourself. No matter what, you must come and a.s.semble here twenty minutes later,” the man with his downcast head ordered in a deep voice.

At the remark, Jiang Yao was stunned and her footsteps froze midway. She hurriedly looked behind her.

It was him. The voice sounded way too familiar.

In other words, the voice was carved in her mind. It was too memorable for her.

However, as she looked at the man who was keeping his head down, Jiang Yao turned around again, pondered, and then shook her head. She told herself that there was no way the man could be here—it was absolutely impossible.

In order to hide from him, she had given up her job at the prestigious hospital and came here voluntarily to tend to the villagers. In order to find her, that man had transferred troop after troop that it was impossible for him to be here.

The voice did sound familiar. Anyway, she hadn’t heard his voice for many years, so perhaps she had mistaken the voice with other people.

“Hey, what are you thinking of? h.e.l.lo, mind your step!” Wen Xuehui noticed that her best friend was in a daze and quickly grabbed her before she stepped on cow dung. “Jiang Yao, what’s wrong with you? How can you be so absent-minded at a critical moment like this?”

MASTER’S BRIDE REBORN

EPISODE 1

Su Jin felt the pain on her lips and instantly woke up.

This pain surprised Su Jin. She thought she died? Why did it still hurt?

She slowly opened her eyes and saw a pair of cold, dark eyes.

Although these eyes made her heart feel cold, they were like mysterious gemstones that made her remember. The owner of these eyes was the person who made her pregnant, made her die tragically, and made her feel so much pain that she wished she was dead.

Thinking about the tragic death in her previous life and Su Xue who had killed her, Su Jin felt bitterly disappointed. She had been so sincere in taking care of her, yet she treated her like that.

Her anger hit the roof and Su Jin’s eyes instantly turned bloodshot!

Su Jin raised her head and stared coldly at the man in front of him. This man had treated her so roughly and harmed her.

Her greatest pain and torture had all been brought by this powerful person in front of her. However, from her pregnancy to her tragic death, she had never seen his real face.

Su Jin attacked angrily and used all the strength in her body to give the man in front of her a vicious slap.

The man’s expression was ice-cold. His love-less eyes stared at Su Jin below him angrily. The pain on his face also made him more alert in an instant.

He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He had never been hit before, not to mention a slap on the face from a woman.

“D*mn you bitch, how dare you hit me?”

Su Jin could feel the man’s anger and danger. She clenched her hands and stared at that terrifying pair of eyes.

So what if she hit him? Did she need to pick a good day to slap him?

However, since he did not know anything, a slap was enough. It shall be treated as if he had returned everything from his previous life. The two of them were even.

This slap was not enough, but there was nothing she could do about it.

The man’s angry eyes stared fiercely at the woman beneath him. He scoffed coldly, “Since you want to be my wife and live a good life, then you should accept my love now.”

Su Jin was furious when she heard this. She glared at Xi Chenxiao.

He was too self-righteous. Who cared about being his wife and living a good life?

“You’re not satisfied with me?”

Feeling Su Jin’s anger and disdain, Xi Chenxiao could not help but ask.

If not for the elders who were anxious for him to have children and drugged him, he would not have touched her.

If not for the fact that she was the only one who could bear his child, he would not have laid his hands on her. He was never interested in women anyway.

Su Jin cursed in her heart. The one who wanted to give birth to your child and lead a good life was that b*tch, Su Xue, and not herself. However, those things had not happened yet, so she could only curse in her heart.

When she thought of what Su Xue had done to herself, Su Jin’s eyes were filled with intense hatred. In her previous life, Su Xue had cut open her stomach and removed her child, and even dug out her eyes before she died. When she thought of this, Su Jin swore in her heart, she would become Xi Chenxiao’s wife in this life.

Xi Chenxiao originally wanted to let it go, but when he saw the woman’s bright eyes filled with anger and disdain, he immediately changed his mind.

He raised Su Jin’s chin wickedly and the corners of his mouth curled up into a sneer.

“Are you playing hard to get?”

Su Jin’s face instantly darkened. This Xi Chenxiao was too shameless!

“Then, I’ll grant your wish!”

Then, Xi Chenxiao lowered his head and kissed Su Jin’s mouth.

Su Jin raised her hand to slap Xi Chenxiao’s face again, but in the next second, Xi Chenxiao grabbed her wrist.

Su Jin raised her other hand and tried to slap him again.

Xi Chenxiao seemed to know what she was going to do. He grabbed Su Jin’s wrist again, narrowed his eyes, and said fiercely, “You still want to slap my face?”

Su Jin looked at Xi Chenxiao and blinked. She was a little flustered. This man could not possibly slap her back, right?

Now, she could only beg for mercy, but she had long been poisoned and could not speak.

What should she do? Should she just watch helplessly as Xi Chenxiao slaps her?

Or, if she admitted defeat to him now, perhaps he would forgive her and not hit her.

She was held down by Xi Chenxiao and could not get up. She could only pray that Xi Chenxiao understood the expression in her eyes.

Xi Chenxiao smiled playfully as he got closer and closer to Su Jin.

Su Jin panicked when she saw Xi Chenxiao.. As Xi Chenxiao got closer and closer, her heart beat faster and faster. Just as her heart was about to leap to her throat, Xi Chenxiao suddenly…

EVIL UNDER HER VEIL

EPISODE 1

“Aaaaaaargh…!”

An ear-piercing cry echoed through an untamed wilderness, away from the touches of civilization.

“Just bite my head off you dumb beast and end my damn life. Why are you chewing on my reaped arm where the least amount of meat is?”

Eren complained to his killer because he was dying slowly. The least this stupid beast could do was kill him first before making a buffet out of him.

But Eren was used to having the shittiest of lucks his entire life anyway. This didn’t come as a shock to him.

Eren could have easily handled a D Rank beast. But that was in the past when he was young. He had attended a prestigious academy famous for giving stellar hunters and adventurers to the kingdom, after all.

But between his over-indulgent life and his lack of will to take risks, Eren couldn’t grow further beyond a minor D Rank berserker. When he realized his past mistakes, his joints were creaking and his hair had receded further back, almost making him bald.

And now due to the curse of old age, a pathetic D-Rank beast had turned into his grim-reaper.

Eren didn’t want to come to this damn place and meet his eventual slayer but he didn’t have a choice.

He was injured due to his last hunt. But he was running low on cash and there was no other source of income for him other than hunting the beasts and selling them in the city’s market.

The old adventurer was going to get kicked out of the city if he couldn’t find money to pay the monthly city tax for next month. The situation had forced him to come here, only to die by the beast’s maw.

Eren observed that the wolf-like beast was not chewing his ripped hand anymore when he was done reflecting on his past life. It was all bones now. It had moved his attention to the rest of Eren’s body.

Eren only wished for a swift death at this point. That’s why he had raised his head upwards, hoping the beast would target it first.

But the beast didn’t like to be led by the nose it seems. It completely ignored Eren’s head and attacked his prey’s most vulnerable spot: his groin.

Eren was first shocked, then scared before finally feeling unrestricted wrath towards this beast. It could have enjoyed eating its prey in silence. But it had to just mess with him before finally killing him.

Eren tried his hardest to make the beast change its target but it was of no avail. It was like the beast had found some kind of elixir at the place of his groins.

And finally, the unthinkable happened. The beast had bitten off Eren’s little beast. He was chewing on it and Eren was sure it was laughing at it.

Eren couldn’t control the pain. He just took an old gem necklace he was wearing at the time and bit on it to control the pain.

Eren had bought that necklace on a whim while he was drunk, from a pawn shop. Part of the reason he ran out of money was this uncalled-for purchase.

When he realized his mistake after getting sobered up, Eren had gone to the pawnshop to return the necklace. But unsurprisingly, the shop wouldn’t buy back the item they had already sold. It was obvious they had succeeded in making a fool out of Eren that day.

Eren could only start wearing the seemingly-useless necklace. And now the same necklace was being used as a silencer and pain reliever by its wearer.

Eren’s mouth was now filled with the taste of iron. The area around it had been painted red by Eren’s blood. And he could feel his consciousness fading, which he welcomed with opening the only remaining arm.

The almost-dead adventurer cursed at the beast in his head. With his drowsy and dying thoughts, he was talking about revenge on the beast and its kind if he survives this ordeal. If he is given a second chance, he’ll kill every beast of its kind by first targeting their groins, busting their cojones before chopping their things into pieces.

Eren started indulging in a lot of fantasies, thinking he would make sure to fulfil them provided he somehow ‘makes it back’. He wanted to complete his chain of thought, stating ‘if he makes it back to the city’ but he was interrupted by the beast’s next set of actions.

The beast had finally taken notice of the shiny thing its prey was biting on. Its primal instincts told the beast to have it. Therefore, it aimed to snatch the necklace from Eren’s mouth. But Eren somehow understood the beast’s mindset.

As a final form of revenge, Eren took off his necklace and gulped it down his throat. Then he laughed at the beast-like he had finally achieved something to be proud of.

The beast didn’t like Eren’s actions. It growled at him before jumping on him at full force. Eren knew his end had come, but he had gotten fearless by now.

Eren just moved his hands and targeted the beast’s eyes with the dagger in his remaining hand. He had stored that dagger inside his boots and taken it out a while ago.

The dagger wasn’t something special. Just a simple weapon used for skinning the beasts after the hunters killed them. Therefore Eren wasn’t expecting a one-hit kill with it. He just wanted the beast to suffer the consequences of killing him.

The beast had finally targeted Eren’s unprotected neck. But the moment it had bit Eren, Eren’s dagger had pierced the beast’s eyes, drove through it, past the skull, and lodged itself inside the brain matter.

Eren’s last-ditch effort had paid off. The one-hit-kill he wasn’t expecting had been added to his list of achievements.

The beast died immediately, leaving Eren to die slowly and excruciatingly. Now Eren had to experience the beast’s dead body weighing on him with his dying breaths.

Eren cursed at the beast even more. Then he just closed his eyes and indulged in his fantasies about what he would do if he could survive this death trap.

Eren had died. He died as an old, alone man who had no friends and the money required to make friends. He died so pathetically that he couldn’t even save his di*k from being chewed on by the same beast that had killed him.

But at least Eren had taken revenge for his Lil bro. He had also succeeded in not letting the beast have its way with the necklace he had been wearing and owning so begrudgingly.

Eren had gulped down the necklace and all the content stored within it. That included the big gem that served as the centre of attraction for that jewellery.

What Eren didn’t know was that there’d be no necklace to be found inside his corpse anymore, even if someone comes looking for it. It had vanished into thin air after Eren gulped it down.

But all that couldn’t change the fact that Eren had died here. It was a tragic end. Although Eren was overindulgent, he had not harmed anybody unnecessarily.

The now-di*kless dead guy had always kept things to himself. But troubles would just come to find him at his doorstep. Therefore, before he died, Eren had decided to change that side about him the most. if and when he survives this ordeal.

With thoughts of regrets and reveries running through his head, the final chapter on Eren Idril’s life was concluded with his last breath.

Or so he thought!

I ADORE HIM

EPISODE 1

“When I finally met Gu Yusheng after two years of waiting, I was going to ask him why he stood me up that day. He gave me a look and before I could even say anything, he turned to someone else besides him and asked politely, ‘Who is she?’ These three simple words almost caused tears to well in my eyes. So, it turned out that the person I had been waiting for could not remember me at all.”

When Qin Zhi’ai penned this in her diary, she did not expect that she and Gu Yusheng would ever cross paths again. No one would have expected her to be living in his house in another two years.

On the fifth day of her stay at Gu Yusheng’s house, Qin Zhi’ai finally met him.

It was a late night, and while she was sound asleep, she vaguely felt someone lie down beside her. An involuntary shudder went through her and woke her from her sleep immediately.

A man was sleeping beside her.

The lights in the room were dimmed. Qin Zhi’ai could hardly distinguish his features, but she recognized the man as Gu Yusheng.

They hadn’t seen each other for two years. The impromptu meeting caused Qin Zhi’ai to be nervous, not knowing what to do. She tried to calm herself down before she asked, composed, “When did you come back?”

Gu Yusheng did not reply her nor look at her. He swiftly took off his clothes, rolling over and pressing her beneath him.

His body warmth was intimidating to her. Qin Zhi’ai had imagined them meeting each other once again, but never would she have thought that it would be in such a situation. Instinctively, she resisted, trying to break away from him.

“Heh…” Gu Yusheng chuckled like he had just heard a funny joke. He suppressed her again without any effort. Holding her chin and forcing her to raise her face, he whispered the most contemptuous remarks in her ears: “Don’t pretend anymore. You moved into my house, complaining several times to my Grandpa about me leaving you alone here. Didn’t you do all this so I would sleep with you?”

His mockery stunned her into silence. Without realizing what he was doing, he had pulled the quilt off of her, torn her nightgown harshly, and touched her bare skin without any gentleness…

The next morning when Qin Zhi’ai woke up, there was no one around, and Gu Yusheng was nowhere to be seen.

If it weren’t for the soreness of her body and the torn nightgown that was scattered on the floor, she would have thought that everything that happened last night was just a nightmare.

She got up, entered the bathroom, and washed herself. She headed downstairs for breakfast after she had changed into a set of clean clothes. As she passed through the walkway, she looked down over the railings to the living room as usual. Gu Yusheng was standing right in front of the glass window, answering the phone with his back to her.

She subconsciously stopped walking as memories of the night before flashed through her mind.

While she was still in a daze, the phone call ended. The housekeeper, standing right beside him, said politely, “Mr. Gu, the car is ready.”

As he briefly acknowledged the housekeeper, Qin Zhi’ai came out of her thoughts and watched him as he took his jacket from the housekeeper. He walked over to the door and put on his shoes.

Just before he headed out, he seemed to have recalled something. He stopped again. Without looking at the housekeeper, he said evenly, without any emotion, “Get a box of contraceptive pills later. Give them to her after she wakes up.”

SEARCHING FOR A MATE

INTRO

Eighteen-year-old Trinity is unlike any other werewolf in her pack. For one, there were unusual circumstances surrounding her birth, for another, she is the only pack member to never shift into a wolf form. So now she doesn’t quite belong anywhere. Not quite human and not quite wolf. She thought she would be able to live her life how she wanted when she had turned eighteen.

Go to college, make some friends, have some fun. But what is she to do when the dangerously sexy Alpha literally falls right into her lap? “I am not human, and I am not a wolf. I don’t belong anywhere...”

“...we both know that no one is going to mate with me, and even if they did, they would just reject me anyway.” What is the sexy, brooding Alpha going to do? The elders are making him hold these ridiculous parties to search for a mate. He doesn’t want a mate, but he knows he needs a mate to finish the Alpha Circle. Without a mate, a Luna for the pack, his people would suffer.

And what is he going to do when he stumbles across the girl that fate has chosen for him and he finds out she has no wolf? “This cannot be!” I roared. “There is no way that I can mate with a girl that does not even have a wolf. She will be too weak. She will be inferior. She will not be strong enough to be a Luna.”

“I simply could not accept her as my mate. Not fully. It wasn’t safe for her. She would get herself killed. And she would bring my pack down with her.” When these two meet, sparks will surely fly. But will it be from passion, or their constant fighting? Neither of them wanted a mate. Neither of them wants the mate that fate chose for them. And neither of them can make that mate bond go away. What are they going to do now that they’re literally stuck with each other?

SEVEN YEARS WITHOUT YOU

EPIODE 1

A red taxi stopped at the front doors of Kempinski Hotel, and a young woman, who appeared to be in her early twenties, stepped out from the vehicle. She was in a simple white cotton dress, and her long hair was loosely curled. Her look was neither gaudy nor lavish; it was simple, yet fully capable of withstanding any scrutiny. Her makeup was likewise applied lightly, and she clutched a white handbag in her hand. This, paired with a pair of plain black heels, made her look like a goddess from a secluded and peaceful oasis.

Her beauty wasn’t the type to awe the masses, but her facial features were delicate and easy to remember. She gave others the feeling of being caressed by a gentle spring wind. There were such women in the world, whose beauty was not stunning but still enchanting all the same. And it just so happened that Huo Mian was one of those few women, who could captivate those around her with her unique presence.

“Oh my, Huo Mian, you’re here! Hurry upstairs to the Peony Room on the second floor. Everyone’s waiting there. If they knew you came, they’d all be overjoyed!” At the door, old classmates who were in charge of welcoming guests gave her directions with warm smiles. Huo Mian nodded, returning the smile as she made her way slowly towards the second floor. She didn’t know why, but she felt an unplaceable sense of unease bubbling up inside of her. This was a feeling that she hadn’t had in a very long time.

Truth be told, she rarely attended these high-school reunions. It wasn’t that Huo Mian was unsociable, or that she thought she was too good for them. Only that, during those three years of high school, someone left such a deep mark in her heart and soul that she had subconsciously avoided all of these events.

This time, she only chose to attend because her high school homeroom teacher personally called and invited her. Ms. Yao was over sixty years old and had retired a long time ago. From what Huo Mian heard, she immigrated to New Zealand with her daughter some time ago. But now, not only did she suddenly return to the country, she also organized this reunion. Huo Mian really had no reason to refuse. Although she was never the type of student that caught the teacher’s attention through academics, she was as fond of Ms. Yao as her old classmates were.

Besides, that person’s been missing for seven years. There is no way he will show up for this reunion, right? Reassuring herself, Huo Mian struggled to suppress her unease.

When she finally pushed through the door, there were already twenty or so people inside. Hearing the door open, they all looked over at the entrance and saw Huo Mian smiling timidly.

“Hi, everyone. It’s been a while,” she greeted.

“Hey, if it isn’t the beautiful Miss Huo, what a surprise that you actually came to a reunion! Hell must be freezing over,” one of her female classmates said in a mocking tone.

Huo Mian smiled awkwardly and didn’t reply. Just then, the Class President, Han Xu, stood up and walked over with a warm greeting, “Huo Mian. It’s been a while, everyone missed you! How’re you doing these days?”

“Oh, I’m doing well, Class President,” Huo Mian looked around the room. When she didn’t see the homeroom teacher, she couldn’t stop herself from asking, “Where’s Ms. Yao?”

“Ah, Ms. Yao just called and said that she’s stuck in traffic. She’ll be here soon. Come on, take a seat first.”

Huo Mian nodded. Finding a quiet corner, she sat down and listened to the loud banter of the classmates around her.

It had been many years since they graduated from high school, and everyone had changed. Some were now famous entrepreneurs, some were working for the government, and some others had gone to study abroad. All in all, compared to these people, the girl who’d once been touted as a genius with an IQ of 130 could not appear any more ordinary right now.

After graduating high school, she rejected colleges in the capital city and surprised everyone when she applied to the nursing school at a local medical academy. After graduation, she went directly into the provincial hospital to become a nursing intern, signing a 3-year contract.

Now, she had a stable relationship with an intern in the ophthalmology department of the hospital where she worked. Although his family background was fairly average, he had a decent future ahead of him. Huo Mian felt that she could ask nothing more from this life. She didn’t wish for wealth and fortune, only stability and security.

Then, someone suddenly patted her back. Startled, Huo Mian turned around.

MY LOVING MARRIAGE

EPIODE 1

Spring was approaching, so it was inevitably a little chilly. Perhaps because the new year was arriving, the entire City Z was immersed in bustling excitement. Despite the cold wind attacking this flourishing city, it did not dampen everyone’s spirits.

The evening sky was hazy as it started to drizzle. The lively city seemed to suddenly have a hint of indistinct tranquility to it too.

A black Volkswagen Passat slowly drove out from the underground parking lot of a tall building in City Z’s northern district. It passed through the long and wide road and made its way straight to the city center.

The streets seemed very bleak at night. Accentuated by the fall of the hazy drizzle, it made the streetlights on both sides seem a little dimmer.

In the driver’s seat, Xi Xiaye was steadily maneuvering the steering wheel with one hand while her other hand was propped up beside the opened car window. Frigid wind continuously streamed in through the window, ruffling her shoulder-length hair into a mess.

She wore a black blouse and black trousers on the inside. Outside, she wore a bright pink windbreaker with black high heels. This was how Xi Xiaye usually dressed as she did not have many clothes. Apart from the dull, all-year-round, black professional suit, she did not have many other apparel.

City Z’s downtown restaurant was currently filled with guests.

Xi Xiaye walked in with graceful strides, her cold gaze briefly examining the entire restaurant. Then, finally, her sharp eyes settled on a certain corner with a table.

Xi Xiaye picked up her pace and walked over. The man who had been sitting there, waiting for quite a while put his phone away. He looked up at Xi Xiaye and when he had a closer look at Xi Xiaye, an intense light shone in his eyes quickly.

“Mr. Wang Hong?”

Her hostile and slightly raspy voice rang out, and Xi Xiaye’s unwavering gaze indifferently swept across the man before her.

The man looked about 30-odd years old. He wore a suit and had an ordinary appearance. One could not call him handsome. When he saw Xi Xiaye, there was a small smile on his face, but Xi Xiaye thought it looked a little garish.

The man nodded and quickly stood up. “Yes, I’m Wang Hong. Are you Miss Xi Xiaye?”

Xi Xiaye acknowledged, then she pulled the chair opposite him out and sat down. “Apologies for making you wait.”

Wang Hong sat down too. His voice sounded a little pompous. “It’s nothing. It’s only right and proper for men to wait on women, but it’s fine as long as there isn’t a next time. I’m sure you know about my situation, Miss Xi. I’m not too sure about your story though. It’s best if you could introduce yourself first.”

Xi Xiaye nodded indifferently. “Let’s order first.”

Then, she gestured for the waiter to take their orders.

“I’m Xi Xiaye. I work at Glory World Corporation and I’m 26.”

Xi Xiaye pulled the black gloves on her hand off and tossed them aside as she spoke nonchalantly.

“Mmm, I recall that Aunty Liu has introduced you to me before. I heard that you attended the military academy and graduated from military business school.”

Wang Hong suddenly remembered something. He paused here, then he looked profoundly towards Xi Xiaye again, and continued after a while, “To be honest, I’m in the military myself, but I don’t want to find someone who shares the same identity as me, but I’m quite happy with your current occupation. I think that women should run a household well and be a good wife, don’t you think?”

When she heard this, Xi Xiaye’s beautiful, twinkling eyes suddenly revealed a stern coldness. While her expression did not change as she looked heartlessly at this arrogant man before her, she remained silent.

“How many times have you been in a relationship before this? Are you still a virgin?” The man asked once again, not finding it awkward at all.

When Xi Xiaye heard him, she instantly frowned and could not help but start disliking him.

“By the looks of it, you should be. I don’t date innocent girls. They have too few life experiences and usually don’t know what they want. In fact, they are usually very easily tempted and find it hard to be loyal. Rather than being cheated on after marriage, I’d prefer to find an experienced woman,” Wang Hong spoke without hesitation, appearing as if he had experienced a lot.

“I’m a man who prioritizes being practical. I’ve been through too much. You could say that I’ve done everything a man can, and have gone through everything a man can experience. I want to find an experienced woman to spend the rest of my life with me. I won’t be thoroughly in touch with innocent women like you. It’s not that I don’t dare to; it’s that we won’t be suitable, the reason being that simple women are unstable,” continued Wang Hong when he saw Xi Xiaye keeping quiet.

“How can one be so sure that an imperfect woman would definitely have plenty of experience? And where did you get this theory that innocent women don’t have experience, and won’t be able to resist temptation?” After a long while, Xi Xiaye finally smiled coldly and said with hostility, “Aren’t your views a little too extreme?”

“Then let me tell you, I’ve had one night stands, I still have a lover now. Can you accept a man like me as your husband?” Wang Hong looked arrogantly at Xi Xiaye as if such a thing was to be proud of.

“What is marriage to you?” Xi Xiaye asked in reply.

“Responsibility, loyalty, and trust.”

“Then, what are you trying to imply right now? Are you trying to boast to me that you’re huge in demand? Does your so-called ‘loyalty’ and ‘trust’ allow you to go on a blind date with another woman while having one-night stands and having a lover? Mr. Wang, I can only say that you’re really the military’s best quality [1]. 1 Later on, I should get your commanding officer to award you with a medal and record these praises.”

Xi Xiaye spoke without much emotion, but her hostile tone was akin to loose ice on the surface of a lake at the beginning of spring. It was piercing cold.

“I’m not looking for simple women. This is my pre-requisite for marriage. They are pure on the surface when in reality, they aren’t stable at all, so they find it hard to be loyal.”

Wang Hong seemed to be determined. His eyes seemed to be filled with resolve as he looked at Xi Xiaye, yet Xiaye caught a flash of hidden light in his eyes.

“Then, you can continue slowly finding your socially experienced woman.” Xi Xiaye nonchalantly smiled.

At this moment, the waiter had already served the dishes. Xi Xiaye was not reserved at all. She picked up her chopsticks as if the man across her did not exist.

“Are you angry, Ms. Xi? I can’t deny that the things you said earlier make some sense too, but this is just the universal pattern. My life experiences tell me that many simple women are just no good.”

“Mr. Wang, I think that you don’t have to explain these things to me right now. Since the second I sat down, I’ve already noticed that you aren’t someone I’m looking for. The husband I want should be at least 1.8 meters tall. If he was a serviceman, his military post must be above regiment level and his rank should be at least Lieutenant Colonel. He must be the classic Mr. Perfect [2] 2 . I’m very sorry that you didn’t match up to any of my standards. That means you, Mr. Wang Hong, your qualifications cannot match up to me, Xi Xiaye. Eating with people like you, I can always save on my meals. I’m done here. Enjoy your meal!”

PERFECT LOVE

EPIODE 1

Ye Wan Wan opened her eyes.

She was faced with a pair of eyes that sent chills down her spine and made her soul quiver.

“Ah——”

Her pale fingers tightly twisted the duvet.

Again, she had to endure the pain of her body being torn apart.

Could this be hell?

Why is it that I’m obviously dead but had to come back here, next to this devil?

Her mind was muddled due to this man’s scorching temperature and out of instinct, she resisted, “Don’t touch me!”

With one fluid movement, it was as if she was touched by ice. His ghostly, bloodthirsty expression clouded and his ice-cold lips bit down on her ruthlessly, as if wanting to swallow her whole.

Ye Wan Wan was in such pain that she couldn’t think straight. She muttered subconsciously, “Why… Why me… Si Ye Han… Why must it be me…?”

“Because it has to be you.”

Hearing his deep and hoarse voice was like a shackle of chains that imprisoned her soul.

Upon hearing the same answer he’d given her in her previous life, Ye Wan Wan fell into a coma.

When she opened her eyes again, the darkness of the night sky had turned into daylight.

A floral scent filled the air and the warm glow of the sun filtered in, momentarily dissipating her uneasiness.

Yet, in the next second, Ye Wan Wan tensed up again.

A strong sense of distress spread in her as the man awakened.

His arm around her waist tightened. She was akin to a pillow, being held in his arms.

“Still leaving?”

Next to her ears whispered the voice that gave her the creeps.

Out of her survival instincts, Ye Wan Wan shook her head.

She was unsure whether he believed her. He glanced at her for a moment and then looked down, giving her little kisses on her lips, chin and neck…

The heavy, hot breath buried in her neck gave her warning signs all over her body.

She was like a deer who’d been bitten by a predator. She didn’t dare move an inch.

After what seemed like forever, he finally let her loose.

In the next second, a surprisingly pleasant sight fell into Ye Wan Wan’s view.

He left the bed half-naked, the backlight outlining his slender stature and tapered waist.

However, this view lasted only for a moment as he swiftly picked up his clothes by the bed and buttoned his shirt all the way to the top meticulously.

It was only a while ago that he’d been as ferocious as a beast, but in this moment, his handsome face was cold without a trace of humanity.

It wasn’t until she heard the sound of the door shutting that Ye Wan Wan allowed her nerves to relax.

She could finally reflect on her current situation.

She slowly glanced at the furnishings around her, and also at her own reflection in the vanity mirror opposite.

The black lips of the girl in the mirror had been gnawed at till there was only a faint colour left and the makeup on her face had been completely smeared by tears and sweat. On her body filled with bruises and hickeys was a horrific and bloody tattoo.

She couldn’t believe this was how she looked at only 20 years old!

At that time, in order to distance herself from Si Ye Han, she purposely made herself look ugly and disgusting.

Now she’d actually been… reborn…

Suddenly, an overwhelming sense of fear and despair caused her to choke.

Why.. .

Why have I returned to 7 years in the past?!

I’d rather die than return here, back by this devil’s side.

She clearly remembered that this was where she and Si Ye Han first had sex, and she’d been tormented thoroughly for countless nights afterwards.

She’d lost her lover, her family, even her dignity and freedom. She’d lost everything.

Must I go through all of it again?

No. Since God’s given me a chance to live again, I have to change it all!

SEDUCING THE DEVIL

EPIODE 1

The sound of gunshots reverberated in the area, two factions exchanging shots. Phantom’s Assassin Guild had become a battlefield between the assassins and the members of Syphiruz, a powerful Mafia organization of the underground world.

Dead bodies scattered everywhere, and the surroundings reeked of smoke, gunpowder, and blood!

Amidst the chaos happening in the area, a tall statuesque woman in her black dress stood in front of the balcony on the second floor of the mansion, playing with her dual-edged dagger.

She just finished eliminating five armed men who sneaked into the second floor. Their dead bodies were now lying on that cold floor, bathing in their own blood.

Despite the chilly and frightening aura surrounding her, her posture exuded elegance and a bewitching beauty which were enough to mesmerize and captivate anyone. She was an epitome of the goddess of beauty, Aphrodite, yet, her charming face was devoid of any emotions. She was as cold as the winter snow.

She swept her emerald eyes across the havoc and bloodshed beneath her. The assassins whom she trained and considered as family were being slaughtered one by one by those armed men.

Lady Phantomflake, the founder of Phantom Assassin Guild, was the most cold-blooded and ruthless assassin of all-time. She found pleasure in seeing her prey cower in fear while begging her desperately for their lives.

She took joy from that, hearing their desperate plea while whimpering and trembling in both pain and fear. But tonight, all she could hear were the dying voices of her fellow assassins… her family members.

Her lips twitched into a bitter smile as it finally dawned on her that she met a powerful enemy that led her to her downfall- Nathan Sparks!

Nathan is the great leader of the Syphiruz. He was as ruthless as her. He would not spare his target even if they would try to negotiate with him. His motto? An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.

She underestimated this man’s power and influence. She blatantly tread on this devil’s toes by assassinating the most precious person in his life- his woman!

Syphiruz’s opposing faction called the hit, hiring her to kill his beloved woman. She succeeded in her mission. That mission caused demise for her and her assassin guild!

Now, she had nowhere else to go. The Syphiruz already suppressed them, surrounding their headquarters. Nathan and his men launched a surprise attack, sneaking into their headquarters unannounced. They were like thieves in the night.

Although they managed to kill several members of Syphiruz, they were just simply outnumbered. There was no end to this. Armed men just kept appearing from the dark. How many armies did he bring with him? A hundred? One thousand? Ten thousand?

But given this dire situation, she refused to admit defeat even if this might be her last breath. Nathan Sparks came for her. She would not easily give him the luxury to get what he wanted… and that was ‘Killing her with his own hands!’

She might be a cruel and an evil assassin but this man was worthy to be called the Devil! In just a blink of an eye, she had lost everything to this devil incarnate! She was being cornered by him, pushing her to the edge. By the looks of it, Nathan Sparks planned to annihilate all of them.

The slamming sound of the door being pushed and kicked by someone snapped her back to the present. She just found herself turning around only to meet a pair of scrutinizing blue eyes.

The devil finally showed up to catch his main target. The man standing before her was surprisingly and strikingly gorgeous despite his cold and frightening demeanor.

He was younger than what people had imagined him to be. The rumor about him having an ugly scar on his face was not true. And he was totally a real deal– a devilish beauty of a man! The pride of men!

This was the first time she saw Nathan Sparks face to face, up-close! She could only see him from a distance before. She could recognize him even if he was wearing his mask in several occassions because she had sharp eyes in assessing people’s identity!

Among the three men standing before her, Nathan gave her the vibe of authority and valor. His overall appearance posed threat and danger, especially to her! The way he looked at her seemed like he wanted to skin her alive and torture her to death.

But, what attracted her the most was the blue orbs that were shooting daggers at her. A pool of whirlwind emotions flashed through his eyes–anger, hatred, regret, sadness, and resentment.

Nathan swept his gaze around the balcony, searching for other people. When he saw no one, he expertly pulled his gun out of the holster, pointing it in her direction.

“Leave us alone!” He ordered his men, even his voice held some kind of overbearing power.

Following their Supreme Leader’s command, the men left the balcony on that second floor, standing outside by the entrance door. They were now guarding the vicinity, taking control of the place.

No one was allowed to interrupt their leader while confronting the killer of his beloved woman. Nathan motioned his men not to enter that area as he would be the one to deal with her.

“Who called the hit? Tell me,” he demanded sternly. His cold deep voice could easily send shivers down someone’s spine. No wonder people in the underground world called him “The Stone-cold Devil”.

“Why should I tell you? You won’t even spare me even if I confess,” she mocked him as she tightened her grip on her double-edge dagger.

Nathan’s expression darkened further. He was dying to pull the trigger but he and this assassin still had something to talk about. He had to know who was the mastermind behind the death of his beloved woman!

“I am just giving you the chance to have an easy death,” Nathan said meaningfully. It was also a warning and a threat. “Perhaps, you want to die the hard way?”

However his threat was useless. Lady Phantomflake wasn’t afraid of him. She even took a step forward that brought more pressure on Nathan.

Bang!

He finally shot her but the bullet only grazed her right cheek. It was just a warning shot to scare her and make her confess.

“I am impatient. Don’t let me repeat my question. Talk now, otherwise, I will give you the most horrible death that a person could ever have!” He mumbled through his gritted teeth.

“Then do it… if you can,” she taunted him, wiping the blood on her face using the back of her palm. She had a mischievous smile on her face, no hint of fear nor nervousness.

“You are too cocky for someone who is about to die in my hand,” Nathan spat back at her.

Before being shattered and destroyed completely by this devil, she had to take away the opportunity of him accomplishing his revenge.

She let out another sarcastic laugh. “Who told you that I would die in your hands? You are wrong, Mr. Sparks.”

In one swift move, she plunged her dual-edge dagger into her own chest, catching Nathan by surprise! It was too late for him to react. Everything happened so fast. Before he knew it, Phantomflake pushed the dagger further deep into her beating heart, her eyes were fixed on his and her lips curling up into a satisfied smile.

Meanwhile, cursing her, Nathan reflexively dashed in her direction, catching her in his arms before she fell to the ground.

“No!!! STOP! You can’t die!” He screamed in desperation. He had no intention of killing her just yet. But it was too late! The dagger was now buried deeply into her heart!

And now lying in his warm embrace, her gaze was fixed on Nathan until she was finally engulfed by darkness.

“Noooo!”

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Nathan fired his gun several times to vent out his anger and frustration! This was not what he wanted! This was not the kind of revenge he envisioned against the assassin who murdered the most precious person in his life!

“You can’t die! You should die in my own hands! I will hunt you down even in hell!”

MYSTERIOUS OLD LORD

EPIODE 1

Painful!

How painful!

My head hurts so badly!

A gaudy and dazzling dreamworld filled with murmurs instantly shattered. The sound asleep Zhou Mingrui felt an abnormal throbbing pain in his head as though someone had ruthlessly lashed at him with a pole again and again. No, it was more like a sharp object pierced right through his temples followed by a twist!

Ouch… In his stupor, Zhou Mingrui attempted to turn around, look up, and sit up; however, he was completely unable to move his limbs as though he had lost control over his body.

From the looks of it, I’m still not awake. I’m still in a dream… Who knows, perhaps the next scene will be of me thinking I’m already awake, but in fact, am actually still sleeping…

Zhou Mingrui, who was not unfamiliar with similar encounters, tried his best to focus in order to escape the shackles placed upon him by the darkness and confusion.

However, while still in his reverie, whatever will he could summon was ethereal like a fleeting fog. He found his thoughts difficult to control and introspect. No matter how much he tried, he still lost his focus as random thoughts surfaced in his mind.

Why would I suddenly have such an excruciating headache in the middle of the night?

And it’s really painful!

Could it be something like a cerebral hemorrhage?

F**k, don’t tell me I’m going to die young?

I need to wake up! Now!

Eh? Why doesn’t it seem to hurt as much as before? But why does it still feel like a blunt knife is slicing through my brains…

From the looks of it, sleep is impossible. How am I to show up for work tomorrow?

Why am I still thinking about work? This is some authentic headache. Of course I have to take time off! I don’t have to worry about my manager’s grumblings!

Hey, putting it that way, it doesn’t seem too bad. Hehe, I can end up getting some spare time for myself!

Throbbing pain inundated Zhou Mingrui, allowing him to slowly accumulate immaterial strength until he was finally able to move his back and open his eyes. He finally broke free from his reverie.

His vision first blurred before it was screened by a faint crimson red. All he could see was a study desk made of burly wood in front of him. Right in the middle was an opened notebook with coarse, yellow pages. The title was eye-catchingly written with strange, deep black lettering.

To the left of the notebook was a stack of neatly arranged books, numbering about eight. The wall on their right was inset with grayish-white pipes with wall lamps connected to them.

The lamp had a classical Western style to it. It was about half the size of an adult’s head with an inner layer of transparent glass and an exterior gridded with black metal.

Diagonally beneath the lamp was a black ink bottle shrouded in a pale red glow. Its embossed surface formed a blurry angel pattern.

In front of the ink bottle and to the right of the notebook sat a dark-colored pen with a fully circular body. Its tip shimmered with a faint glint while its cap rested right beside a brass revolver.

A gun? A revolver? Zhou Mingrui was completely taken aback. The things laid before him were alien to him. It looked nothing like his room!

While feeling shocked and confused, he discovered that the desk, notebook, ink bottle, and revolver were covered in a layer of crimson ‘veil,’ a result of the light shining from the window.

Subconsciously, he looked up and shifted his gaze up bit by bit.

In midair, a crimson moon hung high above the backdrop of a ‘black velvet curtain,’ glowing in silence.

This… Zhou Mingrui felt inexplicably horrified as he stood up abruptly. However, before his feet fully straightened, his brain protested with throbbing pain. It made him temporarily lose his strength as he fell uncontrollably. His buttocks slammed heavily onto the burly wood chair.

Pa!

The pain did little. Zhou Mingrui stood up again by propping himself up. He turned around in a fluster as he began to size up the environment he was in.

The room was not very large, with a brown door on each side of the room. Close to an opposite wall was a low wooden bed.

Between the bed and the left door was a cabinet. Its two doors were swung open and beneath it were five drawers.

To the side of the cabinet, there was the same grayish-white pipe on the wall at the height of a person. However, it was connected to a strange mechanical device with exposed gears and bearings in several spots.

Items resembling coal stoves sat in the right corner of the room near the table, along with soup pots, iron pots, and other kitchen utensils.

Across the right door was a dressing mirror with two cracks. Its bottom was made of wood and the patterns were simple and plain.

With a sweep of his gaze, Zhou Mingrui noticed himself in the mirror—the present him.

Black hair, brown pupils, a linen shirt, thinly built, average-looking features and a rather deep outline…

This… Zhou Mingrui immediately drew a gasp as many helpless and confused guesses surfaced in his mind.

The revolver in ancient European style and the crimson moon that looked different from Earth’s moon could only mean one thing!

C-could I have transmigrated? Zhou Mingrui widened his mouth slightly.

He had grown up reading web novels and had often fantasized over such scenes. However, he momentarily found it hard to accept the situation when he found himself in one.

This was probably what it meant to love a fantasy 1 ? In a minute, Zhou Mingrui had already cursed himself while trying to make the best out of his adverse situation.

If not for the still throbbing headache that made his thoughts high strung but clear, he would have definitely suspected that he was dreaming.

Calm down, calm down, calm down… After taking a few deep breaths, Zhou Mingrui worked hard to stop panicking.

At that moment, as his mind and body calmed down, memories began flooding him as they slowly appeared in his mind!

Klein Moretti, a citizen of the Northern Continent’s Loen Kingdom, Awwa County, City of Tingen. He is also a recent graduate from the Department of History at Khoy University…

His father was a sergeant of the Royal Army who had sacrificed himself during a colonial conflict with the Southern Continent. The bereavement allowance gave Klein the opportunity to study at a private language school and laid the foundation for his admission into university…

His mother was a devotee of the Evernight Goddess. She passed away the year Klein passed the entrance examinations to Khoy University…

He also had an elder brother and a younger sister. They stayed in a two bedroom apartment together…

Their family was not wealthy and its situation could even be described as somewhat wanting. At present, the family was supported solely by the elder brother who worked at an import and export company as a clerk…

As a history graduate, Klein grasped knowledge of the ancient Feysac language—deemed the origin of all languages in the Northern Continent—as well as the Hermes language which often appeared in ancient mausoleums as well as text regarding sacrificial and praying rituals…

Hermes language? Zhou Mingrui’s mind stirred as he reached out to rub his throbbing temples. He cast his gaze toward the table at the opened notebook. He noticed that the text on the yellowed paper turned from strange to alien, before turning from alien to something familiar. It then turned into something readable.

It was text written in Hermes language!

The dark ink wrote the following:

“Everyone will die, including me.”

Hiss! Zhou Mingrui felt inexplicably horrified. He instinctively leaned back in an attempt to widen the distance between him and the notebook, as well as the text on it.

Being very weak, he nearly fell down but managed to extend his hands in a fluster to hold onto the edge of the table. He felt that the surrounding air was turbulent as though there were faint murmurings resounding in it. The feeling was akin to hearing horror stories being recounted by elders when he was young.

He shook his head, believing that everything was an illusion. Zhou Mingrui found his balance and shifted his gaze from the notebook as he heaved for breath.

This time, his gaze landed on the shimmering brass revolver. He suddenly had a question arise in him.

With Klein’s family situation, how can they have the money or means to buy a revolver?

Zhou Mingrui could not help but frown.

While in deep thought, he suddenly discovered a red handprint to the side of the table. Its color was deeper than the moonlight and much thicker than the ‘veil.’

It was a bloody handprint!

“A bloody handprint?” Zhou Mingrui subconsciously flipped his right hand that had been holding the edge of the table. Looking down, he saw that his palm and fingers were covered in blood.

At the same time, the throbbing pain in his head continued. Although it had weakened a little, it continued incessantly.

Did I smash my head open?

Zhou Mingrui guessed as he turned around and walked towards a cracked dressing mirror.

A few steps later, a black-haired figure of medium build and brown eyes appeared clearly in front of him. The person had a distinct scholarly air to him.

Is this the present me? Klein Moretti?

Zhou Mingrui was stunned momentarily. Since there was insufficient lighting at night, he failed to see something clearly. He continued forward until he was just a step short from colliding with the mirror.

Using the crimson veil-like moonlight as illumination, he turned his head and examined the corner of his forehead.

A clear reflection appeared in the mirror. His temple had a grotesque wound with burn marks along its periphery. Blood stained the wound’s surroundings and there were grayish-white brain juices squirming slowly within.

EPISODE 1

The world is so big, but I only want you to know my love. — Shi Beiyu

The edge of a blade gently ran across Mu Siyin’s cheek, and its ice-cold touch jolted the unconscious young woman awake.

“Who’s that?”

She ducked away in fright. A world of darkness enveloped her and she could not see a thing.

A cold laugh suddenly resounded from beside her. “You’re terribly lucky, Yinyin. The car crash couldn’t even kill you, but what a shame that your stillborn child had to go to the afterlife alone.”

Boom!

A bombshell landed on Mu Siyin. Her bandaged eyes went wide in shock. “It was you, Mu Xingyu!!!”

Mu Xingyu sat on the edge of the bed and toyed with the sharp knife in her hands. She jeered, “You fool, did you really think that the car crash was an accident?”

Color immediately drained from Mu Siyin’s face when she heard that.

“Mu Xingyu! You evil woman! You already have Gu Yifan, why are you doing this to me?!” She screamed as her entire body trembled.

In order to snatch Gu Yifan away, Mu Xingyu used all sorts of wicked tactics to ruin Mu Siyin’s reputation and made the latter into the capital’s biggest laughing stock.

Now, Mu Xingyu even orchestrated a car crash to kill her child!

Had someone not donated a suitable heart and cornea to her, Mu Siyin believed that she would have been dead, like her child, too.

Mu Xingyu regarded the pale Mu Siyin and chuckled. “Didn’t you refuse to carry Shi Beiyu’s child? I’m doing you a favor! Besides, once you’re dead, all of Mu Corporation’s property shall belong to me!”

Mu Siyin’s blood boiled and her breathing quickened. “You lunatic! You’re just an outsider, so forget about inheriting the Mu family’s property!”

“Haha…” Mu Xingyu laughed her head off. “Mu Siyin, you must be a bigger fool than I expected. Truth be told, I’m also Dad’s daughter. Back then, it was your mother who interfered with my parent’s relationship and made me an unwanted child!”

Mu Siyin was bewildered. She froze and nearly stopped breathing.

How could that be?!

Mu Xingyu stared at the stunned Mu Siyin and continued to mock, “Thankfully, your mother got what she deserved and went to the afterlife with that shameless sister of yours. Only then did it give us an opportunity for our comeback!”

When Mu Siyin regained her senses, she yelled, “Shut up! You vile b*tch! Don’t you insult them!”

“Hehe…” Mu Xingyu laughed. “Yell, yell at me all you want. You won’t get another chance next time.”

“Mu Xingyu! Are you crazy?! What are you trying to do?” Mu Siyin’s heart beat frantically. She propped herself at the edge of the bed and attempted to flee, but because she could not see anything, she fell.

Mu Xingyu caressed the glimmering blade and eyed Mu Siyin, who was lying on the floor. She let out a menacing laugh. “Of course I’m about to reunite you with your child, mother, and sister… They’re waiting for you…”

“No…” She must not die. She had yet made Mu Xingyu pay for what she did, so she must not die!

Mu Siyin struggled to get up as the car crash she suffered a week ago had severely weakened her body. Before she could get up, Mu Xingyu pinned her on the floor.

With a murderous glare, Mu Xingyu raised the knife in her hand and cried, “Die!”

With a stab, the blade sliced through Mu Siyin’s chest and pierced her heart that was only recently transplanted into her body!

Bright-red blood gushed out of her body like a broken dam, drenching her blouse in a large scarlet patch.

Mu Xingyu grinned. “Just give up, Mu Siyin. You shouldn’t be alive in this world!”

Mu Siyin writhed in pain. She clenched her fists and uttered with all her might, “Mu Xingyu, you’ll go to hell!”

Instead of being enraged, Mu Xingyu chuckled. She approached Mu Siyin and taunted, “Yinyin, do you know to whom your transplanted heart and cornea belong?”

SEDUCING MR CHARMING GENERAL

EPISODE 1

It was a spring afternoon. The sunlight shone bright and warm, and there was a gentle breeze in the air.

Gu Nianzhi, wrapped in a thin fleece blanket, was asleep on a red European-style velvet sofa next to a bay window. She was in the penthouse apartment on the 28th floor of Apartment C, in the Fengya precinct.

The room was silent. Suddenly, a phone began to ring.

“The rain falls softly, my hometown is overgrown with grass and trees. I hear that you are still alone…”

The ringtone, “Fireworks Cool Easily” woke Gu Nianzhi from her afternoon nap.

She gave a start, but didn’t feel like picking up the phone. She continued to lie on the sofa motionless, her eyes still closed. She was feeling lazy.

“The rain falls softly, my hometown is overgrown with grass and trees. I hear that you are still alone…”

The phone continued to ring. Whoever was on the other end was calling her phone over and over again, and was clearly not going to give up.

It was no longer possible for Gu Nianzhi to pretend to be asleep. She reached out a finger, unlocked her phone with a lazy swipe, and said, “Hello.”

Feng Yixi’s sweet, melodic voice sounded from the other end. “Nianzhi, you absolutely have to come over tonight! You’re my best friend! It’s my birthday today, and tomorrow we’ll both be taking the final test for our post-grad admission. It’s a double celebration!”

Gu Nianzhi laughed and said, “I haven’t forgotten. Your house, it’s in Dexin, isn’t it?”

Fengya precinct consisted entirely of apartments. Dexin, on the other hand, was the villa precinct.

Gu Nianzhi usually stayed at a penthouse in one of the Fengya apartments but her guardian, Huo Shaoheng, also owned a villa in Dexin, and it was currently vacant. If she used the villa, it would save her a lot of the hassle involved in attending Feng Yixi’s birthday celebration.

“That’s right. I’ll send the address to your phone.” Feng Yixi was standing on the balcony of her villa under a parasol. Her eyes were fixed on the azure sky. On her pearly white ear was a shell white wireless headset.

Sweet, honeyed words continued to tumble out of her dark cherry lips. The words, irresistibly charming and bewitching, were in complete contrast to the twisted, vicious expression on her face.

Feng Yichen stood across from Feng Yixi, watching her silently as she nursed a cup of cappuccino. Once Feng Yixi was off the phone, Feng Yichen shook her head disapprovingly. “Yixi, are you really doing this? Gu Nianzhi… it’s not like she’s done anything to you, right?”

“What do you mean she hasn’t done anything?!” Feng Yixi laughed coldly before walking away in a huff. “Big Sister, surely you can’t be this naïve?! Before Nianzhi transferred to our college, I was the top-scorer in my faculty! I was the faculty princess! Then she appeared, and took everything from me! How dare she?! She’s just an orphan girl! How dare she pretend to be one of us, the rich and the beautiful!”

Feng Yichen set her cappuccino down and followed Feng Yixi into the house. The two sisters stood before the French windows, whispering conspiratorially.

“Okay, fine, I know you resent her, but don’t forget that Gu Nianzhi’s parents are both dead. She has no relatives, not a single one. She needs her scholarship and the money from working part-time just to get by. We are leagues above her. Can’t you just grin and bear it?”

“I did, for two years! But not this time.” Feng Yixi’s voice had gone very, very low. She extended her left hand: on her middle finger was a pear-shaped yellow diamond ring. There was a tiny protrusion at the top.

A mysterious, self-satisfied smile spread across her face. “Look at this, Cousin Brother got it for me. Tonight, all I have to do is give Gu Nianzhi a tiny prick with this, and it’s goodbye to the rising star of our faculty, hello to our next internet celebrity! She’ll be making her ‘debut’ at the tender age of 18! I’m throwing a million yuan birthday banquet just for this, she won’t be able to accuse me of being stingy…”

Feng Yichen’s hand flew to her mouth as her almond-shaped eyes grew round and wide. “Are you serious? What on earth is that?”

“Hmph, that’s not all.” Dropping her left hand, Feng Yixi indicated the lawn beyond the French windows with her chin. “I spent a fortune getting pinhole video cameras with the highest possible resolution. When the video goes on the internet… teehee!”

Feng Yichen’s brow twitched. She said, anxiously, “Little Sister, don’t go too far. What if she goes to the police? What’s going to happen to our family then? Dad’s company will be going public soon. This is a very important time for us, so don’t go making trouble.”

“Heh, she won’t go to the cops. Cousin Brother said that one tiny drop of the stuff in the ring cost him a million yuan. It’s the good stuff from Japan. No one can resist it!”

Feng Yixi waved her left hand; the yellow diamond ring on her middle finger reflected the sunset outside the French windows, creating a rainbow halo. “You’ll get what I mean once you see the video. Nianzhi suing us? Fat chance!”

Feng Yichen narrowed her eyes. She hesitated for a long moment, then said, carefully, “You just have to teach her a small lesson, that’s all. You don’t have to go so far. What if she decides to sue us anyway? She’ll go to the hospital, get a blood test…”

“Big Sister, are you really this stupid, or are you just playing dumb? The final exam for post-grad admissions is tomorrow! She’s the top-scorer in the admission exams, I’m second behind her—and Professor He Zhichu, the one from B University’s Law School, will only take one student!” Feng Yixi swore so viciously the foundation on her exquisitely made-up face was in danger of flaking off. “I can’t let an opportunity like this slip through my fingers! Besides, Cousin Brother said the stuff I have here only lasts for 24 hours. Once the 24 hours are up, there won’t be any trace of it left! And she won’t remember a thing!”

It was now evening. The street lamps had just flickered to life. In the main hall of one of the Dexin villas that looked out towards the main street, several long tables had been set up. These tables were laden with the best food and wine from the biggest restaurant in town.

In the hall, before the French windows, was a redwood screen with a carved depiction of the Eight Immortals as they crossed the sea [2]. Seated between the screen and the French windows was an orchestra playing melodious music that drifted out from behind the screen leisurely and elegantly.

The entire hall had been decorated extravagantly in varying shades of gold. The wallpaper was dark gold, the sofas were a lighter shade of gold, and even the European-style tables and chairs were gilded. Everything glittered in the light of the crystal chandelier.

The female guests milling in the main hall were also lavishly dressed, each and every one of them. Anyone looking in from the outside would think party goers were in danger of going blind from the sheer brilliance of it all.

Dazzling gold and extravagant flowers everywhere—it was truly a magnificent feast for the eyes!

The delicately styled hair, the scent of perfume, and the clink of champagne glasses indicated that half of the wealthy elites of C City could be found here tonight.

Feng Yixi was the Feng family’s youngest daughter, and it was her 22nd birthday.

Compared to the other more established families in C City, the Feng family was a newcomer to the scene. However, their business had been expanding rapidly, and everyone had heard that their company was about to go public.

Their company going public was the success the Feng family needed to seal their transformation; it would propel them into the ranks of the rich and powerful.

This was why there were so many people at the banquet: they were all eager to get into the Feng family’s good graces.

Gu Nianzhi changed into her evening gown once she arrived at Dexin. With the invitation Feng Yixi had especially given her in hand, she walked, all alone, on a small path that took her to the Feng family’s villa and to the main entrance of the banquet hall.

The noise and merriment in the hall suddenly died away.

All eyes were on the girl standing in the doorway, the girl dressed in a violet, one-shoulder organza evening gown.

She was extremely fair, with delicate, clear skin that was truly whiter than snow. She was so fair that the blue veins on her long and slender neck were visible to the naked eye.

The violet organza gown clung to her shapely body, outlining her figure. The dress was a modest affair; only her arms and the upper half of her shoulder were exposed. But, against the puffy violet organza, her bared skin looked like a tender and delicate lotus sprouting from a bud of purple, a lotus so fragile and lovable, one could not help but feel the urge to hold it lovingly in the palm of their hand and caress it, over and over again.

Gu Nianzhi scanned the crowd, a smile on her face.

Mei Xiawen quickly walked over to her and offered his hand as he said, “Nianzhi, finally, you’re here.”

“I see the class rep made sure to be here early,” Gu Nianzhi said, giving him a cheeky nod. “Where’s Yixi? I haven’t congratulated her yet.”

“She’s over there, let me take you to her.” Mei Xiawen looked Gu Nianzhi up and down as they walked. “That evening gown looks amazing on you.”

He had always known that Gu Nianzhi was a beautiful woman, but he did not expect her to look so stunning with just a bit of dressing up.

SEVEN YEARS WITHOUT YOU

EPISODE 1

SOVEREIGNTY WAR EMPEROR

EPISODE 1

In an antique-styled room, Ling Tian jolted awake.

“Not good. I’ve fallen into a trap!”

He didn’t even have the time to open his eyes as he reflexively slapped his hands against the ground, intending to use the counterforce produced to leap up and flee…

This was an instinctual reaction for an outstanding member of the Special Forces!

The moment his hands touched the ground, an aching pain jolted through his hand like lightning, along with a burst of powerlessness.

Ling Tian opened his eyes as his mind trembled.

“Tian, you’re finally awake.”

A woman’s gentle and pleasantly surprised voice drifted into his ears.

Ling Tian looked towards the source of the voice and found a delicate face full of love attentively gazing at him.

He saw a classical beauty who was breathtakingly beautiful and absolutely drop dead gorgeous.

In Ling Tian’s mind, a familiar stream of memories unfolded…

Ling Tian, citizen of Hua.

Formerly serving in the nation of Hua’s Elite Wolf Fang Special Forces, Army Division, he rendered innumerable meritorious deeds throughout his service.

He took part in the International Special Forces Competition, winning the honor of top individual combatant, and was acknowledged as “The King of Weapons Specialists.”

Later, in an SSS ranked multinational mission, a slight mistake on his part led to the sacrifice of a comrade.

Riddled with guilt, he chose to retire and left the Wolf Fang Division.

After retiring, there was no news of him for some time. He chose to go abroad and became the trump card of an internationally renowned mercenary organization.

Any mission that he took part in would have an unparalleled success rate of 100%!

Although he had retired from the Wolf Fang Division many years ago, his heart was still with his homeland.

As long as a mission was detrimental to the nation of Hua, not only would he decline the mission, but he would also uncover the identity of the person who issued the mission and brutally slaughter him.

As time passed on, he became a thorn in the side of every nation besides the nation of Hua.

In the eyes of the other nations, he was a time bomb.

Slaughter and bloodshed would follow wherever he went.

Various countries started plotting against him, sparing no expense to hire world-class assassins.

However, Ling Tian’s life grew more comfortable as the days went by and the assassins vanished into thin air. Eventually, no assassin were willing to accept the “Suicide Mission” anymore.

Trying to kill Ling Tian was the same as committing suicide!

This statement was universally acknowledged by both the assassin and mercenary world.

He, Ling Tian, was not only a formidable weapon specialist, but he was also a master practitioner of Form and Will Boxing who even managed to cultivate his internal energy.

He was rarely able to meet an opponent around the world; even on the rare occasion that he did meet one, he never lost!

Not long ago, Ling Tian received news from his most trusted broker.

R Nation had created a type of a colorless and tasteless biological weapon. They were planning to transport the weapon into the nation of Hua, to carry out an atrocious conspiracy.

Naturally Ling Tian would not sit idly by and let this happen.

He took action!

With the help of his broker, the location of the biological weapons were pinpointed.

Just when he succeeded in carving out a path of blood and entering the underground laboratory, and just when he was about to destroy the batch of biological weapons… The underground laboratory suddenly caved in, trapping him in a fully sealed cage.

When he caught sight of R countrymen appearing outside the cage one by one, with firearms in their hands… Ling Tian understood right away.

This was a conspiracy… a conspiracy against him.

He was betrayed by the person he trusted the most!

Otherwise, with his level of astuteness, the R countrymen’s conspiracy would never have been able to succeed.

Even until the moment of death, Ling Tian couldn’t figure it out.

“Ha ha ha ha…”

As the thoughts raced through his mind, Ling Tian could not hold back and bursted out laughing; his mood was filled with delight.

“Tian, what’s wrong with you? Don’t frighten your mother.”

The gentle voice sounded again, this time with a hint of anxiousness.

Ling Tian’s mind was in chaos…

He was absolutely sure he didn’t recognize the woman in front of his eyes.

However, the look in this woman’s eyes seemed to be full of sincerity and without any falsehood whatsoever, as if she was looking at her own kin.

Just as Ling Tian was preparing to start a debate with this beautiful woman,a stream of foreign memories flowed into his mind…

Ling Tian felt as if he was struck by lightning, completely dumbfounded as though pressure was being applied to his acupuncture points

The only thing Ling Tian was pleased with was that this guy was also named Ling Tian… “Duan Ling Tian”

Duan Ling Tian, 15 years old.

Fresh Breeze Town, Li Family’s disciple with another surname.

His mother, Li Rou, was the Li Family’s Ninth Elder.

His father…in his memories, there was no such person to begin with.

In the process of merging with this segment of foreign memories, Ling Tian found the reason Duan Ling Tian was severely injured and bedridden.

This morning, Li Family’s Seventh Elder’s youngest son, Li Xin, insulted Duan Ling Tian by calling him a bastard son who only knew his mother but not his father.

Duan Ling Tian snapped into a fit of rage, and started fighting with Lin Xi…

But how could Duan Ling Tian, who had not even achieved the Body Tempering Stage, be a match for Li Xin, who had already achieved level two of Body Tempering Stage. He was immediately severely injured by Li Xin and sent to the verge of death.

Just as Duan Ling Tian inhaled his last breath of air, Ling Tian took over Duan Ling Tian’s entire being… including Duan Ling Tian’s body and memories.

After completely merging with the foreign memories, Ling Tian sighed.

He knew, from this moment onwards, he would be using the identity of Duan Ling Tian to integrate himself into this foreign world.

From today onwards, he would be Duan Ling Tian, and Duan Ling Tian would be him.

“Madam, the Patriarch sent some medicine over.”

A voice sounded from the side of his ears, making Duan Ling Ting look up towards the source of the voice.

A servant girl hurriedly entered the room and handed over the small and exquisite case in her hands to Li Rou.

A medicinal fragrance drifted in the air immediately as the small case was opened.

“Tian, come; take this medicinal pill. Mother will treat your injuries.”

Li Rou took out a dark looking medicinal pill from the case and guided it to the front of Duan Ling Tian’s mouth.

Taking a deep breath, Duan Ling Tian opened his mouth and swallowed the pill.

The pill dissolved upon entering his mouth and turned into a warm current as it entered his body.

Subsequently, Duan Ling Tian noticed that Li Rou had placed her hand on his chest…

A stream of ice cold current passed into his body, dissolving the warm current from the pill and treating his injuries.

An hour later, Li Rou finished up.

Duan Ling Tian noticed that half of the aching pain in his body had disappeared, lacking any strain whatsoever.

He was startled.

Was what he took just now some sort of elixir of life?

Meanwhile, Duan Ling Tian noticed that Li Rou’s face was pale, as beads of cold sweat dripped out of her forehead. Obviously, she expended too much Origin Energy in treating his injuries.

“Mom, are you alright?”

Duan Ling Tian’s heart felt warm.

His voice sounded intimate, without a hint of artificialness.

“Mother is fine. I just need to rest for a while.”

Li Rou shook her head while smiling.

For the sake of her son, expending this little bit of Origin Energy was nothing.

Half an hour later, the servant girl entered the room and lightly said, “Madam, the Patriarch sent someone to inquire if you would release young master Xin now? The Patriarch and Seventh Elder are still waiting in the Punishment Hall.”

“Release him? Go tell the person the Patriarch sent, that I will deal with this matter myself!”

The gentle and amiable expression on Li Rou’s face was completely gone, replaced by an icy cold expression, causing the room to feel as if the temperature had gone down slightly.

Duan Ling Tian’s heart stirred.

Never did he think that this woman, who was as beautiful as a flower, would be so protective…

“Mom, what was that pill you gave me earlier? I feel like my injuries are nearly healed.”

Duan Ling Tian got up from bed, lightly stretching his body.

“Silly child, that was a ‘Grade Eight Gold Injury Pill’,” Li Rou lightly smiled.

Grade Eight Gold Injury Pill!

Duan Ling Tian sifted through the foreign memories in his mind…

It turned out that even within Fresh Breeze Town’s Li Family, there were only two of this Grade Eight Gold Injury Pills. Now, one had been used on him, a disciple with another surname.

It looked like his mother had quite a high status in the Li Family.

“Tian, the Patriarch is waiting for us. Let’s go.”

Li Rou brought Duan Ling Tian to a spacious courtyard in the Li Family Estate.

Instruments of torture laid scattered around the vast courtyard.

This was where punishment in the Li family was carried out: the Punishment Hall!

It was exactly noon, and the sun was burning high in the sky…

The surroundings of the Punishment Hall were filled with people. Li Family disciples had come to watch the show.

In the middle of the courtyard, a youth was tied to a pillar under the blazing sun with two middle aged men standing by his side.

The cross eyed, middle aged man on the right side had an expression of rage when he noticed the arrival of Duan Ling Tian and his mother.

“Duan Ling Tian has arrived…The families precious Grade Eight Gold Injury Pill has such a strong effect!”

“Yea, I was there when Duan Ling Tian was carried away, half-dead, but now, after taking the Grade Eight Gold Injury Pill, he’s back to being full of vigor and vitality.”

“Usually, Lin Xin would just casually bully Duan Ling Tian and Ninth Elder would not say anything about that. However, this time he inflicted such severe injuries that Duan Ling Tian nearly died… Of course Ninth Elder is going to be furious.”

……

One by one, the Li Family disciples started whispering to one another as they noticed the arrival of Li Rou and Duan Ling Tian.

“Patriarch!”

Li Rou brought Duan Ling Tian over to salute the middle aged man on the left.

“Ninth Elder, regarding todays matters, my son Li Xin was at wrong. On the other hand, your son is fine now and yet my son has been burning under the sun the whole afternoon. Can we let him down now?”

At this moment, the cross eyed middle aged man, Li Family’s Seventh Elder Li Kun had a dark expression.

Who would have thought that Li Rou wouldn’t even bother to answer him and directly ignored him.

Li Rou brought Duan Ling Tian in front of the tied up Li Xin.

“Tian, now it’s time to repay him in the same way that he injured you earlier!”

EPISODE 1

At the Qiao family’s villa.

Qiao Xi put her identity card and household register into her backpack. Finally, she glanced at the empty attic before turning to leave.

“Sister, must you register your marriage with Brother Ling?”

Qiao Rou stood at the door, her delicate face full of sorrow. She pulled Qiao Xi’s arm and begged softly, “Sister, the Gu family is a big family with strict rules. You just came back from the countryside and don’t know anything. Brother Ling doesn’t like you, so you won’t be happy if you marry him.”

Qiao Xi instinctively stopped walking.

She was only marrying Gu Moling for the sake of fulfilling Grandfather’s wish. As for whether she would be happy or not, Qiao Xi had never considered it.

Before she could say anything, she heard Qiao Rou scream in shock. Her frail body slammed against the metal gate with a bang. She reflexively held her stomach and looked up in disbelief. “Sister, why did you… I know you’re jealous of my relationship with Brother Ling, but you’re about to marry him. I won’t go near Brother Ling anymore. What I said just now was to remind you that the Gu family isn’t that easy to enter. You didn’t need to get angry and attack me…”

A distance away, Gu Moling ran over. After helping Qiao Rou up with heartache in his eyes, he slapped Qiao Xi without asking any questions. “B*tch, you actually dared to push Rou Rou?! Who gave you the guts?!”

His slap was too forceful and five red finger marks instantly appeared on Qiao Xi’s fair cheeks.

The sharp pain penetrated her mind and awakened Qiao Xi’s senses that had yet to recover.

“I didn’t push her.”

No one listened to Qiao Xi’s explanation. Mr. Qiao, who came out as well, knew that Qiao Xi wanted to get a marriage certificate with Gu Moling. He barked out, “What marriage certificate? Moling and Rou Rou are childhood sweethearts and they share a good relationship with each other. As the elder sister, what reason do you have to snatch your younger sister’s boyfriend? Moreover, the Gu family has high requirements. You, a country bumpkin, will only bring shame to our Qiao family if you marry into their family. We’ve already decided that Rou Rou will take your place in marrying into the Gu family.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he raised his hand and gestured for the servants to bring Qiao Xi into the villa so that she would not continue embarrassing herself at the entrance any longer.

“You’re letting her take my place?”

Qiao Xi took a step back to avoid the servants’ outstretched hands and her gaze landed on Mr. Qiao, Qiao Rou, and Gu Moling. The corners of her mouth were slightly raised. “So all of you had planned this out since a long time ago and had an ulterior motive while I was kept in the dark? In the end, I was played by all of you?”

Mr. Qiao was dissatisfied with her attitude. “What are you talking about? Rou Rou was raised and educated by the family since she was young. She has a noble character and an elegant temperament. She’s known as a genius young lady in Li City. How can a country bumpkin like you compare to her? We brought you back from the remote countryside to let you enjoy a life of luxury that you otherwise would never have been able to enjoy. What else are you not satisfied with?”

Qiao Xi tilted her head. “Didn’t you bring me back because of the shares in Grandpa’s hands?”

Grandpa said that after she got married, she would have 65% of Qiao Corporation’s shares and become the largest shareholder of Qiao Corporation.

“Let me guess. Not only do you not want me to marry Gu Moling but you also want me to never marry anyone in my life. That way, I’ll forever be under your control, right?”

Mr. Qiao’s expression changed slightly.

Gu Moling lowered his head, seemingly deep in thought. He thought that getting 65% of Qiao Corporation’s shares by marrying Qiao Xi was just a rumor…

Qiao Rou had been staring at Gu Moling’s expression. When she saw that he was deep in thought, her heart tightened. Suddenly, she cried out in surprise and held her stomach. “It hurts, my stomach hurts…”

A pool of blood slowly spread from her lower body.

Qiao Rou panicked when she saw the blood. She grabbed Gu Moling’s shirt and begged, “Brother Moling, save me, save our child…”

When the word ‘child’ sounded, everyone was stunned!

Qiao Rou said in a sobbing tone, “I’m sorry, Brother Ling, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hide it from you, but my sister wanted to marry you. I didn’t want to hurt my sister. I just wanted to give birth to the child alone. At the very least, the child could be a token to remember our years of relationship.”

Hearing Qiao Rou’s words, Gu Moling’s heart ached even more. He bent down and pulled Qiao Rou into his arms. “Why are you so silly? Our relationship has lasted for so many years and can’t be destroyed by some marriage contract. Besides, even though you treat a certain someone as your sister, she has never done the same!”

Gu Moling’s sharp gaze landed on Qiao Xi as he threatened her sinisterly. “You’d better hope that the child in Rou Rou’s stomach is fine. Otherwise, I’ll make you regret coming into this world.”

After he carried Qiao Rou and left, Mr. Qiao came back to his senses and hurriedly chased after her.

This farce ended so abruptly.

The sun was scorching in the sky. Qiao Xi stood at the entrance and pondered for a while before leaving.

MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND

EPISODE 1

On Friday evening at eight o’clock.

A banquet was being held in the Four Seasons Garden Hotel. Not only was it filled with luxurious vibes, but the happy atmosphere was also held up as different people toasted and chatted happily about the event.

Nina Lu glanced up at the signage with a frown. “It must be this one.”

However, she couldn’t help but furrow her eyebrows in confusion. It wasn’t easy to enter such a place without an invitation. What was she going to say? As she was worrying, a slim figure floated right in front of her. It was Isabella Zhang, Nina Lu’s friend at school.

“Isabella,” she greeted, waving at her. As if snapped out of the trance, Isabella Zhang turned around, blinking in surprise when she saw who it was. “Why are you here?”

She moved closer, frowning when she didn’t smell the Pheromone Perfume, the perfume that she had given Nina Lu. “Why didn’t you use the perfume?”

“I have something urgent that I need to get to. That’s why I didn’t use it.” Truth be told, Nina Lu wasn’t used to wearing any kind of perfume for that matter. She peered at the crowd. “By the way, could you take me in?”

“Of course I can.” Isabella Zhang smiled innocently as something flashed in her eyes.

She took the perfume from her pockets and sprayed it all over Nina Lu.

Nina Lu coughed, pinching her nose deliberately. “I’m allergic to the perfume,” she explained, waving her hands up in the air.

Without giving her time to think, Isabella Zhang pulled her in the hotel and pushed her into the elevator.

Once Nina Lu was gone, a vicious smile slipped into Isabella Zhang’s lips.

Fortunately, she had brought the Pheromone Perfume today as well. That perfume was a timely invention indeed.

No matter how pure or saintly a woman could be, she would act provocatively under its influence. No matter how abstinent a man was, he would leech onto the scent.

There were hundreds of men in the party that day. Isabella Zhang smirked. ‘Good luck, Nina. For your sake, I hope you don’t bed someone that ugly.’

Nina Lu reached the twentieth floor where there were only two supreme VIP rooms. She knocked on the left, and a charming man opened the door with a coquettish woman in his arms.

She stumbled back, furrowing her eyebrows.

It seemed that she had knocked on the wrong door.

She looked away in embarrassment.

“Sorry. You can continue.”

As soon as she turned around, the man stopped her. “Wait, are you looking for Mr. John?”

The man glanced at Nina Lu up and down. She looked clean and pure. John Shi might not be so tempted to throw her out like the ones he had done in the past.

Just now, James Shi had called John Shi and told him that he planned to give him a surprise. He didn’t expect that the woman would be delivered to him so soon.

“He’s inside.” Before Nina Lu could understand what he meant, he pushed her in and closed the door.

Nina Lu staggered into the suite, almost falling into the ground. When the door shut behind her, her sullen eyes surveyed the room.

When she heard footsteps approaching her, she turned around. A tall and handsome man caught her off her tracks. Although she had seen many good-looking men in her lifetime, none of them could match up to the man in front of her today.

His upper body was right and firm. His fair skin and defined muscles were extremely attractive, especially when drops of water curved down the crevices of his abs. She swallowed.

“Have you seen enough?” he said coldly, snapping her back to reality.

Remembering her job, Nina snapped her head and apologized profusely, “Sorry. I may have stepped into the wrong room.”

In this world, there were only two types of people who would enter the wrong room. They were either stupid or manipulative. He thought that she was the latter.

John Shi gazed at her. She had a beautiful face, fair skin, and a tall nose. Her porcelain skin was shaded light pink, and her bright eyes were wide and filled with innocence. There was something about her that drew him in almost immediately.

His lips curved upwards.

“No, you didn’t.” She should be the surprise that James Shi had been telling him about.

John Shi had been used to this kind of thing. The women James Shi had sent before had been thrown out. In fact, John’d been so used to them that he didn’t even bother to look at them.

Seeing as the woman in front of him was around twenty-year-old, around the age of James, he knew that he had to be kind for the time being.

“How long have you been doing this?” John said as if he was scolding his nephew James.

With a puzzled look on her face, Nina frowned. “It’s my first time,” she said honestly.

In the past, she usually only handled cases that were being discussed in the teachers’ lounge. This was her first time being out in the field to investigate.

It was said that there had been two suicide cases that were about to be closed in the precinct. However, she had always felt that it wasn’t just a simple suicide. In fact, she came here to connect the two events. A part of her had a feeling that the two victims were connected, and she wanted to find out more clues that could link them together.

In the past week, Nina had been wandering around nearby hotels, hoping to find some clues to prove her point. “Your first time? So all you have is theory?” John sat down.

He then picked up a glass of wine and decided to take a sip.

Nina glanced at him by accident, and she found that she just couldn’t take her eyes off him. “I’ve learned the theory for two years.”

“Oh? Really?” John sneered, as if he had just heard a joke.

‘Do they actually teach theory for these kinds of profession? What’s their finals? To find a man to practice it on?’

“Don’t look down on me,” she snapped. Nina was about to turn and leave when she heard his voice.

“What makes you think you’re even worthy of respect? How much did they give you?” He lit up a cigarette and puffed out a cloud of smoke. He couldn’t really find a reason for women to participate in such an industry with no money involved.

John crossed his arms over his chest. “None,” she said coldly.

None?

She was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on.

In fact, in this circle, the woman could be worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Seeing that she was about to leave, John frowned. “Did I say that you can go?” With a flick of his cigar, a small ball of fire lit up even more. No one could come and go freely under his roof.

Nina stopped as her heart thumped in anger. “Look, our profession can’t be measured by money. You should know how dangerous this is, especially with this case. In such an enclosed space, someone could die if I’m not doing my job right. I should go now.”

Someone could die?

He glanced down subconsciously. Was he really that terrible?

Nina’s eyes widened, as if realizing the meaning of his responses.

The man must’ve mistaken her for… Her cheeks flushed.

“You! Shameless!” she said in outrage as she pointed at the man.

John was expressionless. How could she call him shameless when he was just her employer for the night?

EPISODE 1

The wind whistled, and leaves fluttered.

Lucas Gray pulled his coat together and once again looked at the campground that he had long gotten familiar with, as well as the familiar faces. He clenched his jaw tightly.

“Let’s go.”

Lucas turned around and stepped onto the hatch door of the helicopter that had been waiting at the side for a long time.

Behind him were teams of tall, toned, and muscular men standing uniformly in neat rows. Despite having tears in their eyes, they were standing still with their backs straight in the cold wind and raising their hands in unison to perform a standard and reverent military salute.

“Farewell from the Assault Team, Captain!”

“Farewell from the Special Forces, Captain!”

“Farewell from the Logistics Team, Captain!”

Amid the sounds of the helicopter’s propeller continuously rotating, the loud yelling sounded consecutively.

It was full of enthusiasm and pride!

“Captain, can you really bear to…” Jordan muttered with reluctance in his eyes as he wiped his tears and closed the helicopter’s hatch door.

The wings of the helicopter rotated, and it ascended. The familiar campground and teams were gradually turning into tiny marks on the ground.

Lucas looked away and said with a faint smile, “Everything comes to an end someday. There’s no longer a need for me to continue staying here.”

He had stayed on this land for six whole years.

During these six years, Lucas was quickly promoted from a fresh recruit to a general who held great authority after various close shaves with death.

The invincible Falcon Regiment under his command firmly guarded the vast territory around the state of Calico.

And Lucas became the most powerful God of War in the eyes of the tens of thousands of members of the Falcon Regiment because of his excellent command ability and combat power.

No one dared to invade Calico anymore, as it was now well fortified.

Having achieved success, he could finally retire, even though he was only twenty-eight years old.

The helicopter flew south toward the nearest airport.

Lucas took out an antique pocket watch from his chest, in which was a slightly yellowed photo.

It was a photo of him and a young woman taken six years ago. Back then, he was still slightly immature.

The woman’s face was beautiful, delicate, and exquisite. Her lips were pursed stubbornly, and her slanted, crystalline eyes seemed to be staring straight into Lucas’s hand through the photo.

The scene that seemed like a farce at that time was still fresh and vivid in his memory.

Lucas smiled bitterly as he began to recall the events from six years ago.

At that time, Cheyenne Carter, who had just graduated from college, had already established the Brilliance Corporation with her outstanding bravery and wits, thus making her a gorgeous and famous female CEO.

However, her image was soon ruined.

The young and beautiful CEO with a glamorous appearance actually had a disgraceful private life, as she had had an affair with the company’s chauffeur!

The media made a big deal out of it and released all sorts of malicious, speculative, and untrue reports.

Cheyenne’s image was ruined overnight, and she fell to rock bottom together with her Brilliance Corporation that was thrown into jeopardy.

No one bothered to discover that the truth was that they had actually been drugged.

The masses were only interested in gossip, and the Carters just wanted to cover up the scandal.

In the end, the chauffeur married into the Carters and became her husband.

However, the marriage did not save the image of Cheyenne and the Carters.

Everyone mocked and criticized the greatest beauty of Orange County, who used to be the envy of everyone, and made remarks about the penniless chauffeur who was lucky enough to marry into a wealthy family.

The penniless chauffeur was Lucas.

Both of them were well aware of the truth of their marriage.

Soon, Lucas quietly left for the military camp and vowed to make a name for himself so that he would be worthy of the woman who used to be favored by God.

Six years had passed, and he finally returned after achieving success.

Lucas looked at the woman in the photo, his emotions mixed with inexplicable remorse and apology.

He wondered how she was doing after years of being away from her.

——

“Finally back!” Jordan stretched his back and looked at Lucas, who had a look of nostalgia.

The two of them passed through the crowded Orange County International Airport and casually ordered some fast food at the mall outside the airport.

“Captain… No, I mean, Lucas, your hometown is in Orange County, isn’t it?”

Lucas casually nodded.

It had been a long time since they left Orange County, and now that they had just returned, there were many things for them to tend to.

“Mommy… I want Mommy…” All of a sudden, a puerile and crisp crying sounded near them.

Lucas stopped in his tracks.

For some reason, the tender crying was tugging at his heartstrings.

Lucas pushed aside the crowd and followed the sound.

There was a little girl standing below a billboard near him and weeping, her face stained with tears.

The girl was about four or five years old and was holding a stuffed rabbit in her arms. Her tiny face was as fine as jade, and tears were welling up in her large, dark eyes. Her small and delicate nose was sniffling because of her crying, and she looked particularly adorable and pitiful, making Lucas’s heart scrunch up.

In particular, she seemed bizarrely familiar to Lucas.

At this moment, the girl saw Lucas as well, and she abruptly stopped crying.

Her eyes full of surprise, she suddenly leaped toward Lucas and hugged his thigh! “Daddy!”

Lucas was stunned speechless and at a complete loss for what to do.
