PoliticsG7 Governors Reacts,is It A Fightback Time? by samuelkaykay(op): 8:36am On Oct 29, 2013
Seven aggrieved governors who have identified with a splinter faction of the Peoples Democratic Party today outlined their grievances against President Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement released in Abuja Monday, the governors said they were displeased that Mr. Jonathan had shown no commitment to addressing the issues they raised at past meetings with him. The governors are Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (Kano), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Aliyu Babangida (Niger), Abdulfatai Ahmed (Kwara), and Murtala Nyako (Adamawa).
The statement was signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the new PDP, Chukwuemeka Eze. It disclosed that members of the PDP faction met Sunday night in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, and deliberated on issues brought to the president’s attention by the aggrieved governors at two separate meetings they held with Mr. Jonathan.
The statement revealed that some of the aggrieved governors’ demands included “the need to reverse the impunity in Rivers State, where a sitting Governor was suspended from the party against the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the PDP Constitution, and refusing to uphold the result of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum election that saw Governor Amaechi winning 19 to 16 votes against Governor Jang.”
According to Mr. Eze’s statement, the splinter group also demanded the removal of Bamanga Tukur as the party’s national chairman, citing the flawed nature of his election into the post. They also called for an end to what they called “the impunity in Adamawa State,” adding that their demands would put the PDP “in a strong position as a political party but for reasons not too clear to some of us failed to receive the blessing of Mr. President.”
Mr. Eze stated that the faction’s Sunday meeting noted with sadness that, instead of President Jonathan critically examining and acting on some of the issues raised, Mr. Jonathan had looked the other way as members of the new PDP in various states of Nigeria were being persecuted, humiliated through the unfair use of state power, arrested and put into prison as reportedly happened in Bayelsa and Gombe States. He suggested that the acts of intimidation demonstrated a disdain for peace and represented a plot to destroy the party.
Prominent members of the new PDP who attended Sunday’s meeting included Governors Kwankwaso, Wamakko, Nyako, Amaechi, and Lamido. Other participants included former Governors Adamu Aliero (Kebbi State), Bukola Saraki (Kwara State), Danjuma Goje (Gombe State), and Abdullahi Adamu (Nasarawa State). The meeting was also attended by the faction’s national chairman, Abubakar Kawu Baraje; deputy chairman, Sam Sam Jaja, national secretary Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and vice-chairman, North-West, Ibrahim Kazaure, among others.
The governors of Kwara and Niger States sent messages explaining their inability to attend the meeting.http://saharareporters.com/news-page/aggrieved-pdp-governors-others-outline-grievances-against-jonathan
PoliticsLesson Of Life by samuelkaykay(op): 1:39pm On Oct 24, 2013
Over time I have discovered there is no absolute finish line for everyone in the race of life. Our tracks are different and our durations are different. The only thing we have in common is the same empire. For instance, one person graduates @ age 20 and struggles for another 5 years to get a job, another might graduate @ 25 and get a job immediately. One can marry a virgin and wait for the next decade to have the blessings of children, another lady probably after having series of abortions in her past, becomes a mother almost immediately after marriage. A fellow becomes MD @ 38 and dies @ 56, another becomes MD @ 55 and lives to 90. What a life! Life is full of twists, turns, ups and downs and many more surprises and disappointments. Life offers each one of us different opportunities and once an opportunity is lost, it's gone forever except by the grace of God. It is up to each one of us to patiently prepare, wait, recognise and utilise every opportunity. We learn on the way. No one knows it all or has it better. There is a reason why we all don't fall @ the same time. It's so that when one is down, weak and discouraged, the other who is strong, can encourage and lift the other person. God never promise that the road would be easy but he promised never to leave nor forsake us. Although life is a competition, let us learn to go easy on ourselves and trust that God is working it all out for good (even if it doesn't make sense now). I know that there is a time for everything but most importantly that " it will come to pass ". Whatever trials, challenges or down time , this too shall pass and in due course, u will be up and strong again to lift up those who maybe down around u......NEVER LOSE HOPE.

PoliticsThe Most Honest City In The World by samuelkaykay(op): 9:13pm On Oct 14, 2013
Helsinki, capital of Finland is d most honest city in d world, according to a new study carried out by Reader's Digest Magazine.
The magazine dropd 192 wallets around d world in 16
different cities to see what would happen. Each wallet contained the equivalent of $50,
plus a telephone number, a family photo, coupons & business cards.
Helsinki was d city to return most, as it returned an amazing 11 of d 12 “lost” wallets left in parks, near shopping centres & on pavements.
"Finns are naturally honest," said Lasse Luomakoski, a 27-year-old businessman who returned one
of them. "We are a small, quiet, closely-knit community. We have little corruption, and we don't even run red lights."
Mumbai was 2nd with 9 of d 12 wallets
returned, ahead of Budapest (Hungary), where 8 of 12 were
returned.
“I remember being in a car, wen my dad noticed a wallet
by the side of the road,” one 17
year old student explained.
“When we reached the owner he was very grateful: Without the papers in the wallet he would have had to postpone his wedding which was to take place the very same day!”
“However, a woman in her early sixties opened the wallet, & then entered a nearby building. We never heard from her.” reportd d magazine. (dat woman na baddo)
New York also returned 8, followed by Moscow & Amsterdam (7), Berlin
& Ljubljana (6).
Londoners returned 5 of the 12 wallets, alongside Warsaw in
Poland.
The least honest city was Lisbon, which returned jst 1 of d 12 wallets, just behind Madrid, where 2 were returned.
D only 1 returnd wallet in Lisbon wasnt even returnd by locals (indegenes) but a couple driving home from an outing. (atleast 9ja gt brodas :-P)
In total, 47% were returned. Conclusions drawn include that there is no set pattern to those who return lost wallets.
“Age is no predictor of whether a person is going to be honest
or dishonest; young & old both kept or returned wallets; male & female were
unpredictable; & comparative wealth seemed no guarantee of honesty.”

PoliticsFCT Minister: Achiever In Dealing With Okada Riders by samuelkaykay(op): 8:46am On Sep 25, 2013
The minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Bala Mohammed, has listed the seizure of 2,708 commercial motorcycles, popularly called “okada,” as one of his achievements over the last eight months.
Mr. Mohammed disclosed that the motorcycles were seized between January and August this year. According to him, with this latest figure, the FCT has now increased the number of commercial motorcycles deposited at the Abuja Auto Pound to 12,024.
Mr. Mohammed made the disclosures during the FCT’s bi-weekly briefing session in Gwarimpa I District, Abuja on Monday. The minister credited the “achievement” of seizing motorcycles to the wonderful collaboration between the FCT administration and the security agencies. He stated that this collaboration has made it possible to enforce and sustain the ban on the activities of the commercial motorcyclists in the Federal Capital City.
Mr. Mohammed, a former senator, however warned that motorcyclists’ persistent activities in the Durumi, Garki and Asokoro districts remain of concern to his administration.
The FCT briefing, which was chaired by Mr. Mohammed, was also attended by other officials, including Permanent Secretary John Obinna Chukwu and the executive secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Adamu Ismaila.

RomanceOkada Rider Caught Solving BEDMATICS With A Married Woman In Bushtel by samuelkaykay(op): 8:14am On Sep 25, 2013
A mild drama played out in Orlu, ImoState, when a commercial motorcyclist, a father of two (names withheld), was caught pants down making love to a married woman in a lonely bush.
While the 45-year-old housewife was making a case of rape against the randy motorcyclist, the 30-year-old man insisted that the woman was his concubine.
Giving account of what transpired to the police, the woman said she engaged the motorcyclist at Orlu to take her to her matrimonial home at Obibi-Ochasi.
She said when they got to a solitary area along the route, the man stopped ostensibly to ease himself.
She further told the police that while she was waiting for him to finish easing himself, the man emerged and started asking that they sleep together, adding that when she refused the amorous advance, the man grabbed her and forcefully lifted her into the bush.
The woman equally claimed that the rapist tore her inner wears to shreds, over-powered and raped her.
In his defence, the man claimed that the woman had been his concubine for years, adding that he had previously had fun with her at different times and places, including the spot where they were caught in the act.
He also claimed that he called the woman on her mobile line and asked her to meet him at the agreed spot in Orlu.
The man also claimed that when they got to the bush, the woman stripped herself naked, spread her wrapper on the ground and laid down before he started the act.
The randy motorcyclist, however, agreed that along the line there was a minor misunderstanding on the amount he should pay after they had satisfied themselves.
While the man claimed that the woman was asking for N500 for the service, he offered N200, which he said was the only money on him at the time.
Vanguardequally gathered that plan was in top gear to arraign the alleged rapist in court to face trial.

PoliticsEarthquake Kills 173 by samuelkaykay(op): 8:05am On Sep 25, 2013
The death toll from a powerful earthquake that struck a remote part of southwestern Pakistan jumped to 173 on Wednesday, officials said, as rescue teams rushed to the area.
The 7.7-magnitude quake hit the Awaran district of Baluchistan province on Tuesday afternoon, destroying scores of mud-built houses.
Abdul Latif Kakar, the head of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, gave AFP the new toll and said there were more than 300 people injured.
A top local administration official in Awaran, Abdul Rasheed Baluch, confirmed the new toll and said many more deaths were feared as response teams worked through the day.
“We have been busy in rescue efforts for the whole night and fear we will recover more dead bodies from under the rubble during the daylight,” he said.
“Around 90 percent of houses in the district have been destroyed. Almost all the mud houses have collapsed.”
Some of the dead have already been laid to rest in their villages, he added.

PoliticsChristians To Fast For ASUU by samuelkaykay(op): 8:27am On Sep 16, 2013
Catholic bishops in Nigeria have offered to mediate in the face-off between the Federal Government and the striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities.
The clerics in a communique signed by the President and Secretary, Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Most. Rev. Ignatius Kaigama and Most. Rev. William Avenya, respectively after their second plenary (between September 5 and 13) at Otukpo, Benue State, expressed worries over the prolonged strike.
The communique, made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, by the Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most Rev. Felix Ajakaye, partly read, “We appeal to the Federal Government and ASUU to take the higher ground of mutual exchange and shifting of grounds for the collective responsibility of saving the university education and getting our youths back to the classroom.
“We, the Catholic bishops, willingly offer ourselves as a conference to mediate in order to bring this deadlock to an end and usher in a harmonious, viable and sustainable environment for university learning.”
Meanwhile, a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party being led by Alhaji Kawu Baraje, has requested all members of the party globally to embark on seven days fasting and prayers, commencing from Monday(today) to quicken the resolution of the crisis between the Federal Government and university lecturers in the country.
The faction said this spiritual intervention was as a result of its concern for the plight of parents and students in the universities.
A statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the faction, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze, on Sunday, said Muslims all over the nation and abroad who are PDP members should end their fasting by Friday at their places of worship while the Christians should end theirs next Sunday.
Eze added that the fasting had become imperative to seek the face of God over this matter, saying all efforts to resolve what he described as unwarranted strike had failed woefully.
Apart from this, he added that the strike was causing serious socio-economic damage to parents and their children.
The statement read, “To say the least, we are shocked that the government that is inflicting this monumental hardship on Nigerians is a PDP government popularly elected by majority of Nigerians and run by a President who was once a university lecturer.
“In this regard, we wish to plead with Nigerians for forgiveness on behalf of the PDP government at the centre, which could have avoided this costly strike.
“We wish to assure all Nigerians that as a party we will surely find a way to end this shameful situation.”
Eze added that the Baraje faction had set up a four-man committee with Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State as Chairman, to advise the party on the best way to get the Federal Government’s Negotiating Committee and the leadership of ASUU to reach an agreement on the issues at stake and thus end the three-month-old strike.
Other members of the committee are Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State; President of UNIPORT Alumni, Mr. Chinwo Ike; and the PDP National Youth Leader, Mr. Timi Frank.
He regretted that some students, out of frustration and boredom, had turned into prostitution and armed robbery.
He said, “We sincerely solicit the patience of Nigerians while appealing to both the Federal Government and the leadership of ASUU to end this imbroglio so that our children may go back to school instead of engaging in acts inimical to their future.”
The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, also said there was no need for the Federal Government and ASUU to run away from the negotiating table.
