To be nominated as a minister while still serving as a member of the House of Representatives is no small feat to achieve, but Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba pulled it off. Popularly called HCN, Nwajiuba is such a formidable politician in the East that neither the former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, or the incumbent, Emeka Ihedioha could stop his political moves and aspirations. His first coming to the House of Representatives was in 1993, and in three consecutive elections, he contested for Imo governorship seat on the platform of ANPP in 2003, 2007 and as CPC candidate in 2011, which were President Buhari’s parties at the times. Okorocha, with his ambition, tried to edge out Nwajiuba because of his political weight. Okorocha feels that his presidential ambition in 2023 is under threat if Nwajiuba is not stopped. For most Nigerian artists who have captured the hearts of many Nigerians, from Davido and Tiwa Savage to Wizkid, their local dominance supersedes their international audience. In fact, it’s right to say their listeners are mostly Nigerians, but we can’t say the same thing for Burna Boy, who has refused to be limited by national boundaries. Currently signed to Atlantic Records, he has been in the news and his songs on top of charts for almost two years now. Week in, week out, he has managed to maintain the momentum, not only in Nigeria but also across Africa and beyond. Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy is currently the Up Next artist on Apple Music. Thanks to his singles Ye, Gbona, On The Low, Dangote, Anybody, to mention a few, he is now so widely listened to that such a feat is expected. Of all the 17 ministers in the first term of Muhammadu Buhari’s presidency who didn’t make the second tenure, former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalong, will be among the most missed. Though he had his few downsides, he revived several sports in Nigeria and gave impetus to many others walking slowly. Sometime in 2018, he couldn’t hold back himself from saying that he had successfully democratised sports federations in the country. That’s evident in the current situation in the sports sector, and with such achievements, one would expect the President to make him maintain the growth. No arguing it, there is money in football, and to get to that top-level where you are among the highest-paid football players in the world is every footballer’s dream. But while one may still earn hundreds of thousands and be comfortable, it takes being a Ronaldo or Messi to reach figures as high as £500,000 in weekly wages. It’s no secret that the best players in the world earn a mouth-watering sum every month, with club’s in Europe forking out astronomical fees to keep their superstars happy. Aside from those two, these five players have also reached or cross the £2 million monthly earning. Earlier today, President Muhammadu Buhari sent the list of 43 ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation. But unfortunately for the immediate pastor governor of Lagos state, Akinwumi Ambode, he was not nominated. When news came out sometime in June that some party men loyal to the National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu wants to deny Ambode a ministerial appointment, Nigerian thought Buhari would save him from another humiliation. The name of the controversial journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, will ring a bell in the ears of most Nigerians. She is the drama queen of Nigeria’s media space, jumping from one false allegation to another. At some point, it appeared that she merely had an interest in creating controversies, but her stunts in recent times predict she might actually be mentally sick. If not, how would she go ahead and allege that popular musician, Timi Dakolo and his wife are seeking fame with the rape allegations against founder of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Biodun Fatoyinbo? The worse thing was that she claimed to have deduced her claim from Busola’s interview video with Chude Jideonwo. Is that even an investigation, to begin with? A couple of weeks ago, she was also in the news for alleging the 18-year-old daughter of ace Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, a prostitute. Iyabo was crying in a video, thanking God for helping her through single parenthood, only for Olunloyo to say she will eventually cry for real over her ‘runs girl’ daughter. It is important to note that the security of Nigerians is the sole responsibility of the police force, however, Nigerians on social media have recently expressed disbelief that the South West with its once-formidable security outfit – the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), has become a toothless bulldog with criminals like the Fulani herdsmen doing as they please in the region. These Nigerians have claimed that the OPC which has a history of being a dreaded association that has usurped the police in the past to provide security in times of crisis has disappeared, and that what we have left is a group that enjoys making threats and ‘noise,’ while herdsmen kill their people one after the other. The Nigerian entertainment industry was appalled earlier this year when Perruzi fumed over his inability to win the Next Rated prize at popular music award, The Headies. Teni The Entertainer had gone ahead to defeat him, Victor AD, Zlatan Ibile and a few others to claim the crown. But Peruzzi thought he deserved the prize, having featured on many popular songs under his boss, Davido, with 2 Baba and some other big acts. Disgruntled, he took to social media to slam Teni, saying she is not as unqualified as him to win the Next Rated award. Despite his outburst, fans think Peruzzi couldn’t make a hit without a collaboration. Northern Elders’ Forum and the Coalition of Northern Groups’ had earlier this week called on Fulani herdsmen residing in the South to return home, so they could feel safe. In their own view, that’s necessary since herdsmen are now considered terrorists in other parts of the country except the North. The call has generated controversies with many groups accusing the northern groups of fueling division. But as it is, it will be foolish to think that Fulanophobia is not a reality. For most Southerners, the appearance of a herd of cattle spells doom, no thanks to incessant attacks credited to herdsmen in recent times. One would have thought that Omoniyi Temidayo, known professionally as “Zlatan Ibile,” would be just like many other artists who show up rapping in a local language only to disappear after one or two songs. But his achievements in the Nigerian music industry has proven everyone wrong. Born on November 28, 1995, and raised in Lagos, Zlatan is no longer in the league of upcoming artistes. It’s not just about his beats, but also fantastic lyrics that enable him to deliver good music with every release. Remember that Zlatan ended the rein of Shaku Shaku dance with the Invention of Zanku “Leg Work Dance”? Since then, his popularity has been on the rise. No arguing it, he is talented, creative and his hard work is paying off. He met the likes of Lil Kesh and Small Doctor in the industry, but he’s either at par with them now, or ahead already. Nelson ‘Mandiba’ Mandela has an indelible place in the mind of Africans, especially South Africans. His sacrifice and untiring spirit not only saved his country from white supremacy but also the rest of the Black population anywhere in the world. As we remember him on his birthday, we’ve compiled some dates in Mandela’s life that have become permanent references in the history of the world: Birth – 18 July 1918 Mandela was born on 18 July 1918 in Umtata, now Cape Town in South Africa. His first name was Rolihlahla, meaning “troublemaker,” as if they know he’ll eventually become a rebel. Mandela came from a royal family, even though he couldn’t have become a king, according to their tradition. In November 2009, the United Nations declared every July 18 as Nelson Mandela International Day. Whoever says ‘Tacha armies’ is just a weightless slogan is living very far from the realities of Big Brother Naija Season 4. The phrase was mentioned by Tacha herself at the outset of the Pepper Dem edition, in a veil reference to her social media fans who are ready to push her to victory with votes. Most of the housemates also thought Tacha was being delusional to exude such confidence about winning. Some of them, such as the evicted Kim Oprah, couldn’t hide their hatred for her. Others were also of the impression that she’s a slay queen with no strategy to stay in the house, but in reality, she’s the only one among the female housemates who have remained her original self. To say the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) betrayed him, Ademola Adeleke must have forgotten how he threw away his chances of becoming the governor of Osun State in September 2018. His brother, Deji Adeleke, recently released a statement blaming the PDP for not standing by the younger Adeleke enough, and for being responsible for the massive losses his family incurred from the failed bid. But history can’t possibly be swept away. It’s still clear as daylight how the Adeleke’s rejected the opportunity to put aside their differences and team up with Iyiola Omisore, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the election. We all know the rancour between the two sides, but the current situation is what happens when politicians fail to understand priorities. Rebecca Nana Adwoa Kwabi fought hard to win the Miss Ghana 2019 award, but little did she know that social media would be another enemy to contend with. #Wizkid29 has been trending on Twitter since Tuesday morning as Nigerians hold nothing back to celebrate the music icon. No doubt, he remains one of the most successful artists this country has ever produced. Wizkid, whose real name is Ayo Ibrahim Balogun, was born on 16 July 1990 in Surulere, Lagos. There have been controversies on his birth religion, but he actually came from an interfaith family. His mother is a Pentecostal Christian and his father practices Islam. At about 15 years of age when Wizkid was still trying to unravel his talents, he met with a producer, late Babatunde Okungbowa, also known as OJB Jezreel. It’s surprising and, in fact, a huge relief, that bandits’ activities in Zamfara state have reduced to the barest minimum in recent days. Usman Nagogo, the state police commissioner, has also confirmed that the rate of killing and kidnappings have reduced by about 98%. Bandits operating in the state are now surrendering their weapons in a state-government-backed peace deal. The deal was also said to have led to the release of captives by the bandits. According to a vigilante source, they “are almost through with the issue of release of kidnapped persons.” The development is much welcome, but what is more intriguing is that these changes and progress are coming only after the administration of Governor Abdulaziz Yari ended in May. Talent is not enough to be successful in music, but it sure has a significant role to play. That’s probably a fact that Nigerian rapper, Ololade Keshinro failed to understand before his exit from Olamide’s record label, YBNL. Lil Kesh was signed in April 2014 after his introduction by fellow artiste, Viktoh to the Olamide. He has since been on the rise, with successive hits gaining mass acceptance. The rapper also released his debut album “Y.A.G.I”, earlier in 2016, before his eventual exit from YBNL. However, his exit has appeared as though he actually quit music. Aside from his collaboration with Chinko Ekun and Zlatan on ‘Able God,’ his current oblivion would have been more troubling. Already, artists who came after him including Naira Marley and Zlatan have raced past his achievements. They’ve become the music idols among his audience. Popular Islamic group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has earned the anger of many Nigerians on Friday by asking President Muhammadu Buhari to ban the airing of the 2019 edition of the reality television show, Big Brother Naija aka BBNaija. It’s disgusting enough that news of rape is more rampant these days than ever, but what’s more disgusting is that paedophiles are also having a field day. The news media is inundated with sad tales of child rape, and this is heart-breaking for every well-meaning Nigerian. The development has also triggered debates on how best to handle the issue and punish culprits in ways that will deter others from destroying girls at such a young age. Unfortunately, we’re yet to arrive at a just and speedy approach to this, but Ukraine might have a lesson to teach us. For a while now, one of Nigeria’s prominent female reggae artiste, Cynthia Morgan, has gone out of radar, leaving many questions unanswered. Not at social events, or even on social media, she’s fast fading away from the mind of Nigerians. The most recent thing we heard about her was that she was facing financial difficulties in 2018. Back then, she was charged to the Ikeja High Court for failure to pay her rent at her Omole apartment. That’s not all, it was the same day that she was served with court papers for evading tax. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the founder and president of LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, courted controversy and ignited discussions on Twitter following a video of him that went viral. In the said video, the popular pastor could be heard condemning those who try to equate the position of men and women in marriage. He noted that, against any contrary explanation, God’s intent from creation was that a wife submits to the husband in everything. That was greeted with cries from feminists, whose advocacy has been on reversing this same point. Pastor Chris explained that no man wants another mother or another sister who would boss him around and tell him what to do. He added that a man is poised to serve two categories of people – the one whom he serves, and the one who serves him. He warned that women become a competitor to their husbands the moment they refuse to submit. Kim Darroch, Britain’s ambassador to the United States, has been in the news for the past two days following the leak of his emails and documents containing his criticism and comment about President Donald Trump and his administration. He reportedly described Donald Trump as ‘inept’, ‘insecure’ and ‘incompetent’ in a series of memos to Prime Minister Theresa May. Using secret cables and briefing notes, he mocked Trump’s character, stating that the “President’s career could end in ‘disgrace’. On one occasion, Sir Kim refers to ‘incoherent, chaotic’ US-Iran policy, adding: ‘It’s unlikely that US policy on Iran is going to become more coherent any time soon. The duo of Omawumi and 2Baba has given practical definition to helping others at their lowest moments, something which is especially lacking in Nigeria’s music space. The case of Cynthia Morgan, who was also in misery, is a sad example of such lapses in the industry. Earlier in March, news came out that Nigerian singer, Waje, had quit music. She made the announcement in a viral video with her friends on social media. Waje, born Aituaje Iruobe, is popular for her vocals range which covers three octaves. Waje is an acronym for “Words aren’t just enough”. She came to limelight after being featured on the remake of P-Square’s “Omoge Mi,” and her role in the duo’s 2008 hit track “Do Me”. She also took credit for contributing vocals to Banky W’s “Thief My Kele” and M.I’s “One Naira”. In 2016, Waje was one of the four judges in the inaugural season of The Voice Nigeria. So, the news that she’s quitting gives many people a shock. Read full story here: https://qwenu.com/2019/07/10/thanks-to-omawumi-and-2baba-waje-has-returned-to-music/

Following her split with long-time hubby Kevin Hunter earlier this year, Wendy Williams seems to have found a new shot at love. She told fans during Monday’s show that she’s now seeing a doctor in his 50s. Williams and Hunter had it rough in the last few months before their split, with court documents citing irreconcilable differences as the key reason for the end of their union. The duo tied the knot in 1997 and share a son, Kevin Hunter Jr., who was born in 2000. She was spotted in June around Los Angeles and New York City with 27-year-old Marc Tomblin. For the past year, it’s no news that governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, isn’t a popular politician in his own state. The party politics that brought him to power has pit many against him within the All Progressives Congress (APC), and that’s aside from the acrimony he’s dealing with all over his state. But despite this, he seems to be in the good books of the national leadership of the party. That came to light after the national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, approved indirect voting for the party’s primaries ahead of the November governorship election in the state. Knowing well that the governor has the reins within the party structure, other aspirants contesting against Bello, protested at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja on Monday. In response, some political thugs loyal to Bello stormed the place in the early morning and harassed journalists at the scene. Big Brother Nigeria ‘Pepper Dem Gang’ enters the second week today, with the first two evictions done already. Avala and Isilomo couldn’t make it to the second week – one, they had the lowest number of coins with 80 each; two, the duo lost at a game to choose the evictees among four housemates on Sunday night. But the weekend was filled with a lot of intriguing and suspense-filled stories of drama, betrayal and hope at the house. Starting with the eviction notice on Friday, to the Saturday party and the theft of Omatshola’s coin, BBNaija was on everyone’s lips. Of all the things that happen, however, very key are some revelations that shock almost every viewer. Some of the housemates came in with a rather wild or calm character, only to get things they want and turn to their original self, opposite of the initial impression they gave. First on the list is Diane, the coinless lady on the first-day of coin-hunting. She had appeared cool and nice to get a few help she needs, only to turn to a selfish, poisonous housemate later. She would have been disappointed that Khafi escapes eviction on Sunday. Khafi had gifted her a coin, the only one she had when Diane didn’t have any. But she was saving her over 100 coins when Khafi was almost evicted for having 80. No one would have thought she would turn around that easily. The idea of having a sex doll could sound disgusting to many people, but not these five men, who see more advantages in dolls than real women. Modern sex dolls have advanced features as they are designed with life-like private parts, breasts and lips and their sounds mimic a real woman. For some, the idea of not having child support loads or risk of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) is enough reason. Others believe that fidelity for sex doll is sacrosanct, unlike women, and that the maintenance requirement on them is considerably low when compared. We’ve compiled these five intriguing stories of men who bid bye to women, to hunt for love in the world of dolls. The drama began at the House on Wednesday when Gjaba ignored a letter sent by Uche Secondus, the PDP chairman, nominating Kingsley Chinda as the Minority Leader of the House.
