Let's just say the country was designed to fail. Because apart from the failure of the president, all the 36 state governors are failures. There's no hope for the common people of this country. That's the sad reality.

You are wrong. Your thinking is very shallow. It's like taking a toy from a baby, then the baby starts crying, next you carry the baby on your shoulder and start petting as if you don't the baby wants the toy you talk away.

Trust me, all these efforts won't yield any result as long as he refuse to restore fuel subsidy. First of all, he had no backup plans before removing the subsidy. Look at where we are today—total mess. Now, it's like his government has not started at all because he not done any positive thing to alleviate the suffering of the people.

These protesters are just looking for attention, waving foreign flags like they have no sense of national pride. It's embarrassing to see how far they will go to make a point.
Seriously, what's national pride in Nigeria? A country with leaders that doesn't care about the people? Look at the North for example, the region has been ravage by insecurity for years now. Do you think if we had leaders that care, such nonsense will continue? It won't. As long as a problem doesn't affect our leaders' source of looting, they don't care. So, I don't see anything to be proud about here.

When your orientation isn't understood by reasonable human beings, then it's advisable you drop it for your own sake. It's not a matter of live and let live. Stop corrupting the society.

Her argument is right. Most men right now are not ready for another round of hard life in the name of marriage. If you can't feed yourself comfortably, is it additional 2-3 mouths that you'll be able to feed? What's the point of getting married and having children when you can't nurture a quality family? How many quality families in your neighborhood can you count? That's the issue for most men in Nigeria right now, including me.

Instead of wasting energy on protests, let’s focus on real solutions for our hardship.

The rain will stop, but our problems will remain if we don’t change our approach.

It’s high time we stop the theatrics and start demanding accountability from our leaders.
You are just a child. Stop disgracing yourself here. What are real solutions? Is what they're doing not about demanding accountability from your so-called leaders?

So people should be hungry, dying, suffering while the politicians feed fat on our commonwealth as we wait till 2027?

Its only a tree that will not react when its been cut. Its this fear that we don't want anything to happen to our country that has given the political class the impetus to take us for granted.

So you want 220 million people to be docile perpetually?
The only way we can deal with this matter without hurting our country is through the ballot box. We can follow through and fight to make sure the right thing is done at every stage of the electoral process. I can still remember what Dino Melaye did last year with the INEC man. That was a bold and good step. Sadly, nobody supported him. The only reason Peter Obi failed the election was because he wasn't popular in the ballot box. He was only popular among the people. To the people, he won, but to the ballot, he failed. You should understand what I mean here. We can make sure he is also popular in the ballot box next time. Apart from election, you can hardly do anything to change the mind of an evil king in Africa.

What is this? So the fear of accident should stop us from traveling?
Bro, in this matter, it is better to stop traveling that route. No one can produce a good result from an action that is done with provocation.

Let us be careful. Nigeria is our only home and we shouldn't pull it down because of the action of one man.

Sometimes, we have to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of doing something. I can assure you that the disadvantages of the upcoming protest will outweigh the advantages. As such it's better we avoid it.
PoliticsProtest: It Is Not Too Late To Avoid The Crisis by samuelson06(op): 3:56am On Jul 31, 2024
Hours from now, Nigeria may witness unforeseen crisis that may force certain sectors of the country to shut down. If anything, memories from the #endSARS protest is still fresh in our minds and should make the federal government of Nigeria to avoid further protest by the youths as much as possible.

The coming protest, just like the untold hardship Nigerians are going through right now is needless. Today, the FG is behaving as though the don't know how we got to where we are today. Maybe I should remind Mr. President that the situation of this country today was as a result of his inaugural speech when he was being sworn in as the president of Nigeria. On that day, Mr. Tinubu, barely twenty minutes into his inaugural speech made an infamous pronouncement, "Subsidy is gone." That statement allegedly marked the end of fuel subsidy regime in Nigeria and the fuel price began to float against market forces.

Shortly, fuel was sold between #590 naira to #650 naira per liter around the country. Today, fuel is sold between #800 and #1000 naira per liter or even more. Again, it's largely scare and difficult to buy. Coincidentally, Nigeria prides itself with over four refineries but none is working. It's no longer news that Nigeria economy is driven by the upward and downward price of fuel and nothing else. The moment the president announced the end of fuel subsidy regime in Nigeria, the same moment the price of everything in the country skyrocketed.

Eventually, the government tried many things to stabilize the economy but all their effort has been futile. Finally, they resorted to sending palliatives to few people to curtail the hardship caused by the removal of the fuel subsidy. Repeatedly, sending palliatives to the people has failed to stabilize the economy or achieve any meaningful thing. Apparently, only the federal government of Nigeria, especially the presidency are unaware of the damaging effect of the fuel subsidy removal.

The Nigerian people are much aware and have been pleading with the president to return the fuel subsidy program but all their pleas for the past twelve or more months have fallen on deaf ears. The president has bluntly refused to subsidize fuel again—An action that has push millions of Nigerians into multidimensional poverty and hardship.

Any moment from now, the Nigerian people will have no other option than to match the streets of Nigeria in protest to register their displeasure and frustration as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy. Right now, no one can rightly predict the direction the upcoming protest will take. However, I predict it's going to be tough and violent, far beyond what we had in 2020.

The difference between the #endSARS protest of 2020 and the upcoming #endbadgovernance protest is clear. While the former was targeted at an aspect of the government, the later is driven by a struggle for survival. The #endbadgovernance upcoming protest is similar to blowing a smoke into a rabbit hole. Sooner, the rabbit is violently forced out of its hole. In Nigeria today, we all know who's blowing the smoke and who is the rabbit. We can also predict what's going to happen as the rabbit is being forced out of its hole into the streets to run like a headless chicken.

It's very important to note that the atmosphere of any protest depends on the underlying cause of the protest the people protesting. For example, you cannot compare the atmosphere of retired workers protesting because of owed pension funds, university students protesting because of hike in tuition, and youths protesting because of hardship. You can easily predict which has the potential to turn violent and uncontrollable. Hence, the question of warning the organizers of the upcoming #endbadgovernance protest or the protesters make little to no sense.

Above all, this protest is unnecessary. I don't see it achieving nothing. Sadly, we don't have a president who listens and can feel the pulse of the people. If I were him, I'll return the fuel subsidy and manage the economy the way Mr. Buhari was managing it if he's got no idea on how to make progress beyond removing the fuel subsidy. As long as Tinubu has not done any meaningful thing since the beginning of his regime, he's got no right to take us backward. At the end of the day, sixteen years of our lives will go without any meaningful achievement because of APC.

Nigeria, I hail thee. Like Zambia, you shall be free one day cry

PoliticsRe: Planned Protest: FG Begins To Sell 50kg Rice At N40,000 by samuelson06(m): 12:59am On Jul 30, 2024
Salewa97:
This is indeed a proactive step by the Federal Government to address the rising cost of living. Selling 50kg rice at N40,000 is a commendable move that will undoubtedly provide relief to many households struggling with food inflation.

It's essential to recognize that the FG is taking tangible actions to cushion the effects of economic challenges faced by Nigerians. This initiative can help stabilize the market and ensure that essential commodities remain accessible to the average citizen.

Let’s also acknowledge the effort to manage resources effectively. If this plan is executed well, it could set a precedent for future interventions aimed at alleviating poverty and ensuring food security across the nation.

Kudos to the administration for this timely intervention!
