As par the NDDC fund do the communities know how much goes in there and do they call them to account at the year ends....
They need to call them to account, they were established solely for their development ....no other region in Nigeria has this..

The Niger delta is a complex region. The government a the centre should do more close monitoring of these funds. I can't pay my son's school fees without asking for result at the end of the term. Disbursing the money isn't the only issue. Was ur aim achieved should always be in our retrospect.

NDDC is not well funded. The allocations are sometimes not disbursed fully. Recently you would hear cry from students been sponsored by the commission of abandonment. The terrain is not like other parts of the country. I will not say government have totally neglected the people but the dividend never gets to host community. Niger Delta is continuously been raped and no one seems to care.

You didn't say this 5years ago. Can Nigeria leave it to us to manage before its is worthless. Budget allocation is pegged on this oil right from 80s.

I have been reading about oil spillage in books and internet with disinclination until I travelled to Emago Kugbo and its environs and I spent hours in the sea and other riverine communities in Abua LGA of rivers state and now, each time I retrospect my experience I feel like crying and cursing our leaders. These people are in a terrible condition which I lack words to describe. Oil spillage is a serious situation that deserves emergency response.

When Niger Deltans agitate for development it is as if they are asking too much. The whole country enjoyed the milk flowing yet we live in abject poverty.
