TV/MoviesRe: Nigerian Films Are Always The Same Story. by sandoka(m): 6:25pm On Dec 23, 2010
We need to appreciate the works of our producers and directors in Nollywood business. Not all movies have the same storyline. I bet nollywood movies have improved tremendously.
To know what good movies to watch out for always check this blog that posts new movies with quality production @ www.sandokamovies..com

Our producers have shifted base from naija to Ghana cos of piracy and movies produced in Ghana like 4 can play, Royalty and so on have beaten those produced in Nigeria hands down. Just check the blog and see what i mean.

IslamRe: Why Do Muslims Face The East When Praying? by sandoka(m): 3:03pm On May 18, 2007
We muslims hear and obey. Whatever Allah (swt) commands us to do, we do it without hesitation for He is All-Knowing, Most Merciful.
I know little about geography and i will say the direction of the qibla depends on your location on the surface of the earth. While some muslims face East, others don't just like how one side of the Earth sees day light, and the other side sees darkness.

If you take a look at any world map, there is what they call longitude and latitude. Some parts of the world live East of the Greenwich and the other part live West of the Greenwich. Nigeria is situated East of the Greenwich.Likewise Saudi Arabia that's why we face East when we want to pray. Muslims in America don't face East when they want to pray because they live West of the Greenwich. Literally we don't face East, we face North East that is 90degrees East of the Greenwich. I studied map reading very well in secondary school that's how i came about this.

While i was attending the Air Force Military School in Jos, we were taught how to locate a point on any map and find our way through the jungle to our destination. I am sure most of us know about bearing in mathematics. If you do then you will find this easy to understand. We would be taken far into the bush and we will be given a topographical map, compass, binoculars and we will have to find certain things on our way to prove that we are on the right track.

Now back to basis. The Qibla is in Mecca. Nigeria lies about 3-15 degrees North of the Equator. Saudi Arabia lies about 40 degrees North of the Equator this makes the two countries to be in the same hemisphere. Get a map, Find Nigeria and Saudi Arabia and draw the four cardinal points on each country;N,E,W,S. Get a ruler and join these two places with a straight line then you will see that Muslims in Nigeria don't face east per se but North East. Similarly do the same thing for a country like Australia and you will find out that their directions are different. If you have time do the same thing for other countries like America, Finland, Canada, Greece etc.

The bottom line here is that countries that live West of Saudi Arabia face East to pray and countries that live East of Saudi Arabia face Westwards towards the Qibla to pray.

I hope this small piece makes a lot of sense.

Hi danielng, you can open a merchant account for free here http://www.graphcard.com/?rid=13067

It's an online payment solution provider owned and managed by a Nigerian based in the US.
With this account you can accept payments from anyone from any part of the world who doesn't have a credit card. And you can also make payment to anyone anywhere in the world without the use of credit card. I have tried it and it works.

Moreso, they have a service called personal shopper. With this service you can place an order with your account and they will handle the rest for you such as placing the order on your behalf on the website where you want to buy from. They will receive it on your behalf via a US shipping address which they will give to you and then they will send it to the address where you want the goods or items to be delivered. So nice and easy. Funding of your account is very easy. They accept e-gold, Western Union, Money gram etc. Check it out yourself.

The link again is http://www.graphcard.com/?rid=13067

Good luck

Akin i see you are a real time Internet Marketer like myself. I am glad to know that there are other people out there tapping from the various opportunities this vast market place called the Internet is offering.

Fellow nairalanders, i just want to add a little to this thread. Internet Marketing as the name goes is all about marketing your goods, services, talents etc to millions of potential customers on the World Wide Web. What we need to know is how to market your products online. What are the various ways you can use to market your business online? There are numerous ways to market your business online. One important question is this:

How can a business that is already successful in reaching their local market extend their marketing reach online? The good news is that the traditional offline marketing that has always worked so well will still work at least as effectively to promote your online presence. The other side of the coin is that to promote your business online, the old traditions need some updating to keep up with online marketing best practices.

There are a lot of articles, ebooks out there that talk about making money from the internet. Most of the programs out there are mainly affiliate programs where you join and promote other people's products and you get paid a commission. In my candid opinion i'll say the best way to make money online is marketing your own products on the internet. I have tried a lot of affiliate programs out there but the only set back is me not living in the US. Many of the successful online programs are meant for people living in the US, UK, Canada etc. So marketing your own products online is a good way to make millions of naira or dollar if ONLY you know how.

ProgrammingRe: Why Nigerian Software Firms Are Absent On The Global Map by sandoka(m): 5:06pm On Mar 26, 2007
I salute you guys. I am enjoying the debate and arguments though i am not one bit a programmer but i'd love to be one someday so that we all can gainfully integrate and standardize the IT sector in this country.
No doubts the indians have created a niche for themselves here in Nigeria but it doesn't mean that the Nigerian man is not as good as his counterparts in the remaining part of the world.
I must emphasize that the IT sector is still in the development process and more and more people are coming in gradually. So this means that there is hope for the future of the IT industry in Nigeria which will be powered by the many talented people we have in our country. But for the IT business to flourish, we need not see it as a money spinning business rather as a tool that will improve business lives in this country. Secondly, the govt when making policies or guidelines should have the interest of Nigerians at heart and give the people that enabling environment that will enable them stand shoulder to shoulder with the top players in the world.

This is just my two kobo piece.

One more thing i agree with DJNiyi that we are not in a 3rd world country. The sooner we put that in our pipes and smoke it the better for us.

What a sad tale. I just want to remind our leaders that on the day of judgement every shepherd must have to account about the afairs of their sheep and how they handled them.

The bus driver that knocked down this faithful servant of God will not escape his side of the judgement.

May the almighty Allah grant his soul eternal rest and may He put him and all of us amongst his faithful servants on the day of reckoning.Ameen

And for the friends and family of AbdHameed, may almighty Allah give them the fortitude to bear the loss and continue to provide for them their needs and sustenance without measure.

TV/MoviesRe: Is There Any Director Of Movie In The House? I Have A Script Fully Screenplay by sandoka(m): 10:02pm On Mar 15, 2007
Is there any law governing intellectual property in Niaja? If yes i'd like to know.
I believe we have talented scriptwriters and screenwriters. Any movie produced is as a result of the talent of that person that wrote it. Without that person's scripts, the movie wouldn't be produced. I have heard from people that if you give your scripts to producers, marketers or directors as the case may be, they will take it and tell you that your script will not sell because of this and that and return it to you. But before then, they would have made copies of your script and begin to work on it and before you know it the movie will be out. How true is that? Somebody tell me please.

I, like any other talented writer, want to meet a good and honest producer who will accept my work with due diligence and not make any attempt to steal my work from me. Where can we find these people?

My works are mostly epic/adventure. My second write up is about the trans atlantic slave trade though still in progress which tells the exact story of the life of Africans who were stowed away in slave ships from Africa to the Americas, the kingdoms and people involved in this business.
ComputersRe: Wanted: Vsat Solution For Bank Branches by sandoka(m): 9:35pm On Mar 15, 2007
I work for an ISP and i know the problems of most of the ISPs in Naija.
First they make a hell of noise when marketing their services to you and if you are not careful you will get trapped with them and you won't be able leave them because of the amount of money you have spent getting a link especially the installation cost which is way too outrageous.

Secondly, they have a very bad support for their clients. You make a complain today and you will wait another one week before they come to your location and recify the problem. In most cases, they never turn up. They will always tell you that the problem is from your own end. How the hell do they expect you to know the problem?

The point here is that there is no where in the world where you will get 100% connectivity. That's why many technologies are deployed for internet connetivity. Starcomms made a lot of noise withtheir EVDO wireless connectivity. But today many of those people that hurriedly ran to them hurriedly ran away from them in no time because they didn't get what they expected. I know a lot of people like that. They came to me and started asking me which is the best ISP in town? I kept telling them that nobody is perfect but recommended some other ISPs as well as my company to them. The areas where we don't serve we give them to those that have service in those areas where they want the internet.

My advice is that you should do a thorough research before deciding on which ISP to go to. One thing with the major players in this industry is that their monthly cost is too high for the bandwidth you are buying. Most if not all of them cheat on their bandwidth. If you subscribe for 128/256kbps, they will give 128/128 or 64/128 or 128/128 because they see you as a novice to this technology. So do your research very well before attempting to get an ISP.

Depending on what infrastructures they have, they tend to put too many subscribers on one link and that's what slows down the connectivity. In this case they differentite between shared and dedicated bandwidths. Dedicated bandwidths costs more because you alone are on that link. But the truth is that in the beginning, say the first few weeks, you will enjoy the service to the fullest. That's because they have you on a dedicated link. Nobody knows what they do in their server rooms. When one network goes down in their exchange or server rooms, what do they do?

If you need my assistance i will be ever ready to asist you. Goodluck.

TV/MoviesRe: Wanted: Great Scripts And Stories For Movie Production by sandoka(m): 6:46pm On Dec 04, 2006
It's an easy thing to conjure stories in the mind, the difficult thing to do is to turn the story into movie scripts. That's what i know how to do best. My problem is finding time to do this. The nature of my job doesn't give me much room to relax and write except for the few times when i am idle. If you have stories you can send them to me i will format it very well to industry standards for you and i bet you will like it.
Dating And Meet-up ZoneRe: How To Win The Heart Of A Muslim Lady by sandoka(m): 8:34pm On Dec 02, 2006
It is clearly stated in the Qur'an that no Muslim woman should marry a non-muslim man. This is a commandment from God almighty. For you to marry a muslim woman, i must be frank with you there is no hanky panky here, you must be a muslim or forget it and marry a woman of same faith as yours.

Most non-muslims tend to deceive our muslim ladies by saying they want to marry them while they do not have any intentions of such magnitude in their hearts. They know that muslim ladies are chaste and they try as much as they can to remain that way before a man finally comes to marry them. So why would anyone especially a non-muslim want to marry a muslim woman in the first place?

All these talk about pray that she likes you, or get to be friends with her first you know is not going to make any difference. A woman is a woman anyday anytime. If she likes you good for you if she doesn't like you runaway or else you will be disgraced. Their differences lies in their cultures and beliefs. A practising muslim woman will never be friends with any man who is not a muslim because she knows that nothing good is going to come out of it. so why give herself to such persons?

If you are sure that you do not want to fool around with her, then change your intentions and make up your mind to accept her faith by being a muslim. Otherwise stop every move towards winning her heart right now.

Google's algorithm works for every website no matter where it is hosted. As far as i know most search engines use a set of formula to index pages. For your website to appear in google's result pages, certain things must be put in place before your website can appear. You need to know the secrets of website optimization so that people will get to know that your website exists when they search for it.

ComputersRe: Announcing Google Nigeria by sandoka(m): 7:10pm On Dec 02, 2006
The google.com.ng is not a bad idea at all. As a search engine optimization expert, i welcome this idea. But one thing you all should know is that, when you type in www.google.com.ng into your web browser you get to see Nigeria somewhere below the google logo right? This just not appear on it's own. You see most Internet based businesses have a way of detecting IP addresses automatically from all over the globe. This is a way to letting you know that what ever you are doing on their website you are been monitired.

I tried to make an online purchase from amazon.com but my order was declined due to the fact that they detected my IP to be a Nigerian IP because Nigerians are well known for online scams.

The google.com.ng gives you the best of your search experience. If you type in bookshops in the search box, google will display results from every bookshop on the internet. But if you type in bookshops and select the button that says select pages from Nigeria, i bet you google will give you targeted results for your search, displaying results of bookshops that are in Nigeria only. If you have a bookshop and your bookshop doesn't appear in the search engine's result page, that means you have not optimized your website properly for inclusion in the search engine's database.
