I am not planning on falling or failing bro, i am on an upward swing. I am done with this banter. Have yourself a wonderful evening. I still maintain however, that $46k does not make a man. My very humble view from a position of knowledge. May i request that you discontinue mentioning this? Thank you for your maturity.

Oya @hadrdbody, just post one picture of your bank statement (blocking out your name ofcourse) to silence the doubters. Or is ur PA/Secretary not around?

hardbody: A certain spambot banned me for no explicable reason other than I challenged the rationality of claiming that 46k makes a man for life. I calmly read through a lot of f00ls living in their paradise but oblivious of the fact that 2m a month is not one huge sum for executive cadre in a decent multinational. I even noticed some porous brains assuming that good job and nice pay is dependent on your knowledge of mathematics only. I cringed at reading some preetyboi suggesting that I don't even have a job and went to dig up my old mails that obviously he did not understand. For the records, when I joined NL I was already coasting on the employment sphere, being a site acquisition manager in the entire country working for GLO. I joined GLO from another bank. Each and every advert I posted was in search of people to work WITH my company. I have never been out of job since graduation. I also read through some rational and food thinking minds who tried so very much to fight my course,as it were. For those who told the lie that whoever earns what I claimed cannot be spending time in NL only exposed their idiocy and ignorance. I am at a level where I give out instructions to junior colleagues and then supervise thier input. I have gone past the stage of handling files and looking for explanations, I query what my subordinates do bring experience to bear..

No apologies whatsoever. I earn upwards of 2m a month, the status car I raised in one of my chats was given me and its a 2013 pajero fully limited version. I changed jobs this January and was given a 2013 Avensis. The few NLers who have met me know. Idont need to brag. I am who I am, haters can go and die.

Clearly, you do not need to brag oga (I REMAIN LOYAL!!!)...

hardbody:

Lol. Ok. on a salary scale of N24m plus per annum, i earn more than that in a month. Does that still make sense to you? I am coming strictly from my perspective and so do not see how N700k amounts to 'making it'. Its less than a couple of guys monthly take home. That is my point, i have not in anyway suggested that N.7m is not good money, especially when won on a bet, but it does not go beyond the short term.

I don't believe that this f*kboi, hardbody expected this kind of backlash from NL folks. I don't think he will be coming back here. With all that money, he should go start his own forum and buy all the followers that will gladly follow his lying a**.

If you get the chance, check out hardbody's face. He looks more like Vocal Slender than Femi Otedola. Trying to hustle us here after Fashola drive him and his other agberos from Lagos. grin

Thanks guys @hooxjnr and @crestime

From what you have said and what I have heard when I have heard on ground, real estate appears to be one of the thriving sectors at the moment especially in Abuja and Lagos. I did get burned last year though trying to make a quick buck in Abj from land speculation - won't happen again. Your approach is definitely something I will consider because with the eko atlantic project going on in Lagos, and the centenary city in Abuja, 9ja will soon come into the international real estate focus.

@crestime - are there any property developers you would recommend?
Business / Re: Lucrative Business Ideas With N75m Capital by SangoCrusader: 10:53am On Jul 13, 2014
Naijamachines: Obviously N75M is a large sum of money that should be invested wisely. I will not give you some off the cuff response, but have two or three opportunities that might be VERY valuable to you.

Before getting to the investment activity itself, it would be very helpful for you to really understand where you are coming from and what you intend to achieve. YOU are the only one that knows EXACTLY what YOU want. You need to ask and answer several fundamental questions about yourself and what you want to achieve before you can make a sound investment choice. These are just basic examples of some of the questions you need to ask yourself and answer truthfully to YOURSELF:

Where do you currently reside and relocating from?
What is driving your need for relocation?
What are your current capabilities? (your skills, what you can do, etc)
What are your current capacities? (how hard you can work, any restrictions, disabilities, etc)
What are your key strengths and weaknesses? (this would help you determine where you will need to absolutely rely on others to help)
What are you primarily interested in (what do you enjoy doing)?
What type of business or activities would make you happy or give you physiological satisfaction? Don't just think about money alone.
What are the things you will absolutely NOT consider?
What is your tolerance level to develop a business?
AND so on...

I may sound philosophical, but trust me, addressing these facts upfront would save you A LOT of heartache in future and prepare you very well for uncertainties that you WILL surely face in your investment/business.

I feel passionate about topics like this as I currently operate a heavy equipment sales and leasing business in Nigeria. We serve construction companies, quarries and dredging activities in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Ondo state. We also support any heavy industrial equipment need. I would be interested in sharing some ideas and advice with you generally. I can also share experience in this business with you if you like.

Leave me your email or phone number so that we can have a private conversation.

send me an email at: info@naijamachines.com

Thanks for the info, I will send me an email later. Tbh, I am not really familiar with heavy equipment sales but am interested to hear what you have to say.

Youngzedd: Don't go near fixed deposit account.

Buy Nigeria treasury Bill.
Check investment section.

My 2 cents.

Thank you for the advice, I just took a look at the CBN treasury and the annual yield from T bills hovers aroung 11.5%. That is about the same % my bank will give me for a fix deposit account. Why do you prefer Treasury bills?

aokewole: There are lots of things you can do, but none devoid of a healthy amount of risk. Sorry to hear that you got burned in Abuja, it happens to the best of us.

My advice is to keep the money in a fix deposit account in Nigeria paying 10% - 12%, then come back frequently to speak to people and find out what business you might be interested in with the least barriers to entry. The golden rule is that, any business too good to be true probably is, but there are still profitable ideas out there.

Thank you, that is very sound advice. But if I may indulge you a bit further, do you have any specific areas you think I might be interested in? Perhaps the areas yielding the highest returns at the moment.

for every shaquille & martin lawrence raised by black women, there are at least 500 of them ending up in a correctional facility. why focus on the few minority and neglect the lives wasted behind bars?

you really want to argue feminism hasn't destroyed the black community? seriously? the white folks knew black women would buy the bullshyte they are selling. the motive is to stop you from seeing the white folks as the enemy and see your male counterparts as the enemy.

AA women bought the lies - they kicked their husbands out in droves. freedom in the midst of poverty. black women can't see the long term consequences of raising children without their fathers because far majority of them lack the gift of foresight!

Abeg tell them @coogar, u too mosh! cheesy

Raising young black males without a positive male influence in their lives is a bad idea, especially in a country like the US where black men are only respected as rappers or athletes. A positive role model does wonders for the family and society at large. My father left us while I was young so when that happened, I looked to my uncle for guidance and inspiration. He was a banker at the time and would tell me about the finance world when I was growing up and take me to play tennis with his banker buddies. Now I'm all grown up, guess which industry I went into and what sport I play all the time smiley

Imagine what could have happened to a young and impressionable sangocrusader if this same uncle happened to be a 419er...

Hello guys,
I am currently living abroad but desperately want to move back to 9ja. I am going to sell my property abroad and expect it to get me a cash windfall of at least N75m that I want to invest in something viable in Abuja and/or Lagos. Therein lies the dilemma; I have no idea what is profitable these days. I dabbled in Abuja real estate for a bit last year, but got burned cry
Any suggestions that can provide a 10% - 30% ROI annually will be welcome. My professional qualification is in Accounting (not finance) but I do not wish to practice that in 9ja... For any business ideas, note that I will be 'on ground' to run it properly.
Great sages of NL, you guys should please help me out with ideas!!!
Cheers

@ skimanski - I have two units that need interior finishing. One is a one bed flat @ Lekki Gardens Horizon and the other is a 3 bed terrace at Lekki Gardens Phase 4. These units should (hopefully) be available by December 2014.

I know you cannot give me exact figures now, but how much might I be looking at for either property in both of these locations? I am looking for a good finish like you have shown in your pictures above and need to know how much to budget if I choose to employ your services.

Wow, this topic has moved since the last time I logged on! shocked Very emotive issue, but if I were to moderate, I would say that @coogar perhaps, has the strongest point so far, effectively ending this argument:

Men should not come back to claim paternal rights if they choose to abandon their children on the outset, and women cannot expect any kind of support whatsoever in raising a child from a father that clearly expressed unwillingness from the start. Now how do we get this consensus to the 9ja legislature... (They would rather discuss indecent dressing lipsrsealed).

Finally joining the party grin

I would say pay is not the right word as it turns it to a money making venture.

Be involved/care for more like it.

Should he? yes once it is established it is his. Does he want or not? the choice is out of his hands.

Not nterested? fine! don't just come 15yrs after that you have repented and want to be a parent or worse still when the child is all grown and beautiful.

I thought of this actually and realized that a man can eat his cake here. How many adopted and single-parented kids yearn to know who their real parents are. He could easily abandon the child who will come looking for his/her father when he/she is grown up... In other words, avoid the painful child rearing period but enjoy parental privileges after the child is all grown up. I have actually seen several of these cases first hand

MissMeiya: First, these pictures are old.

These pictures are poorly acted and unnatural. The television is too far, too small, and at a weird angle. The president is too formally dressed. The room is EMPTY, but for a couple of aides and two photographers. The next set of pictures has GEJ shaking hands with his aides over Nigeria’s victory--which is STÚPID.

Lastly, to anyone with sense, these pictures are poorly timed, given that the country is in full, deadly CRISIS. He should at least look like he's working, with a desk, some government workers, papers, ANYTHING. Instead of lounging empty-handed and grinning.

Whoever came up with this PR idea is a damned idíot. No wonder they had to hire a PR firm for $1.2 million. How do people this amateur and moronic make it in Nigeria?

And yes, I tweeted all the above to Abati, who was responsible for posting these on Twitter.

I report his account as spam daily. Useless man.

So sombre it could lead to doubts if not scupper the whole thing...

It's another conversation and I wouldn't want to derail, but part of the nonsense that women are sold is that contracepting gives them "freedom. Why would anyone believe that chemically interfering with their reproductive system is a good thing? The long-term health consequences can be horrendous - but kept well hidden. I suppose the lure of seeming consequence-free sex is too powerful?

In advising men, I feel that a mate as close to chemical, abortion and sexual promiscuity free as possible is best - I guess that means ideally a virgin grin!

But seriously, I certainly wouldn't advise a young lady of high worth to be with a man that willfully mutilated himself to avoid "thirsty hoes". There are men who do a good job of keeping themselves, "why not find such a one I'd advise".

And regardless of the above, if ultimately a child is involved - and it's yours - abandoning it would make you worse than the mother.

TV

I never actually understood women until I started wearing my ring on my wedding finger, then I realized that girls were more receptive to my advances when they thought I was married! Surely I am not the only one with this experience... for example, girls stare at me more when I am with my gf than by myself.

Long story short... girls do not want what's 'good for them', they never did. Most girls (not all) would rather queue up for a baller than follow Mr right, while some use this preggers tactic to hook him.

No difference. The common thing is they did not want responsibility. One of them conformed to society and when he felt he had satisfied society, he ran away to live his life. The other was having sex without adequate protection and is not ready for the consequences. He is also ready to abscond if he does not get his way. Both characters are irresponsible and incapable of caring about anyone but themselves. People like that I agree should not be having kids and they should not be conning innocent partners into having sex with them under false pretenses. Any girl you meet you tell her you are not ready to settle down or have kids anytime soon or ever. And you have had a vasectomy. Then you would be respectable in my opinion. And by the way, morning after pill is not 100%. Some people get pregnant on birth control. Seems like your baby is determined to come to this world. If you are doubting that she took the pills maybe you should have bought the pill yourself and made sure she took it

Fair point. To defend myself a bit though, I did the following before we started going out

We both got tested for STDs
I told her CATEGORICALLY (oga at the top style) that I didn't want to have kids within the next 10 years.
Told her my childhood issues as well and why I did not feel I would be a good father.

I then assumed that we shared a tacit understanding that any pregnancies will have to be aborted, but I guess she had other ideas. Lesson learned, but other NL dudes will do well to be less trusting of females with this issue...

It doesn't prove anything I suppose, I just decided to believe her because to lie about smthing like this would be seriously out of character. Well I will find out in a few months if it is true when she starts getting inflated...

Why, because your father failed to abort you instead of you being a burden to an unsuspecting woman. Who had no part to play in the psychological trauma your probably mentally unstable father put you through? I hope she ignores you and keeps it. So you will be tortured every day that you have a child somewhere, till you face your responsibility. This is why women should check the mental stability of who they lay down with. Imagine what you are saying with pride on this thread. Your father messed you up, so you must mess your child up too. And the cycle of mentally detached, narcissistic creatures continue. You made the right decision, please do us a favor and cut your balls. In fact do the world a favor.

Okay, I do not want to descend into personal insults so apologies for earlier @baby124. You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I am happy to hear them.
To re-intellectualize the conversation, would you say there is a different between a man that decided to have kids , then abandoned them, and a guy that never wanted to be part of the baby's life right from start?
