Nairaland / General / Men Shortage ; Govt Of Eritrea Forces Men To Marry At Least Two Wives Or Face Im by SaniSANOH(m): 9:40pm On Jan 26, 2016
#MEN_SHORTAGE : #ERITREA_GOVERNMENT_FORCES_MEN_TO_MARRY_AT_LEAST_TWO_WIVES_Or_FACE_IMPRISONMENT

Some Nigerians have received the news of mandatory polygamy by men in Eritrea with a mix of bewilderment and excitement. Activists have posted a memo allegedly by the Government of Eritrea asking men to marry at least two wives due to acute shortage of men occasioned by casualties during the civil war with Ethiopia.

In the statement written in Arabic assures of government support to the polygamous marriages. The activists translate it thus:

"Based on the law of God in polygamy, and given the circumstances in which the country is experiencing in terms of men shortage, the Eritrean department of Religious Affairs has decided on the following .”

"First that every man shall marry at least two women and the man who refuses to do so shall be subjected to life imprisonment with hard labour."

“The woman who tries to prevent her husband from marrying another wife shall be punished to life imprisonment,” alleges the activists in their translation.

Meanwhile some Kenyans have reacted to these announcements with bemusement with some suggesting if they could change their citizenship immediately and take advantage of the new laws in the country.

“At this rate, I can see the Eritrea Government spreading new embassy outlets in Kakamega, Embu, Siaya and Busia counties to help hasten visa processing,” said one Kenyan on facebook.

“He is so so considerate of women! That's good of him,” said another.

THE WHISTLER could not immediately authenticate the document nor the translation and it was not clear why the statement was not in the other two national languages of Eritrea which are Tigrinya and Tigre.

The May 1998 to June 2000 Eritrean-Ethiopian war saw 150,000 soldiers killed from either sides but having a bigger impact on male population in the tiny Eritrea nation who were then just 4million people in total.

Nairaland / General / 10 - Good Ways To Distroy Organisation by SaniSANOH(m): 3:49pm On Jan 11, 2016
HOW TO DESTROY AN ORGANIZATION:

1. Do not attend the meetings of the organization.

2. If you must even attend, go late for meetings.

3. And when you get to the venue of the meeting, stay outside.

4. When decisions are now taken in your absence, complain to everyone it was in bad faith.

5. If and when you do attend at all, find fault with the officers.

6. Never accept an office but criticize those who are holding offices.

7. When appointed to serve in committees, out rightly reject the offer but bring the roof tops down when not so appointed.

8. When your opinion is asked, reply that you have nothing to say but after the meeting, tell everyone who cares to listen how things should have been done.

9. Don't engage in any activities of the organization but when others do, complain so bitterly how the organization is piloted by a clique.

10. Make no financial contributions to the group but blackmail all those who do so as "BIG MEN" just showing off.

Okay, now that you know, put on your dancing shoes, let's rock like it's 1996, though we're in 2016.

Religion / 72x2 Virgins To Organise Birthday Party For Olumba Olumba Obu In Calabar by SaniSANOH(m): 8:03pm On Nov 01, 2015
144 Virgins To Organise Birthday Party For Olumba Olumba Obu In Calabar

About one hundred and 144 virgins from the Olumba Obu`s fold are warming up to organize a lavish banquet for their father in the lord, Leader Olumba Olumba Obu, to mark his birthday which comes up in November.

Speaking to journalists on the theme for this year`s birthday activity, which a close source to Olumba Obu, said would be centered on “World Peace” at the Headquarters of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star in Calabar.

Chairman Planning Committee, Dr. Goodnews Brownson, said that this year father’s birthday celebration is earmarked to impact much on the less privileged like orphans and prison inmates, and award scholarships to indigent and intelligent students to pursue undergraduate programmes at the nation`s tertiary institutions.

Brother Goodnews maintained that Obu`s birthday marking would attract dignitaries from the Nigeria`s entertainment industry like Nollywood stars, captains of industries, business tycoons, academic icons and religious adherents from various denominations.

According to him, top on the agenda would be welfare visitations which had been packaged to bring succour to under privileged people, adding that Olumba would use the opportunity to consolidate on his support to orphanages and prisons, including scholarship awards to indigent people.

The Planning Committee Chairman enumerated Obu`s strides to include establishment of orphanage called Mother Theresa`s Home (The Redeemed Home) where he is catering for over one hundred children and Brotherhood colleges in Nigeria including some economic ventures to support them.

Dr. Goodnews maintained that the event will create a platform for friends and associates of Olumba Obu to dine with the father.

Nairaland / General / NITEL Rebrands As Ntel, To Deploy 4G Network In Nigeria’s Telecoms Market In TEC by SaniSANOH(m): 8:21pm On Oct 30, 2015
Natcom Development and Investment Limited on Thursday said it would deploy 4 Generation network to show its relevance in the Nigerian telecommunications market.
The Managing Director of Ntel, Kamar Abass, said this in Lagos during a media luncheon organised by the company.
Ntel is the company that acquired the assets and liabilities of the defunct NITEL and MTEL.
Abass said the company would now be known as Nigeria Telecommunications and would offer high speed data, high-definition voice and video to customers.
He added that there were still spaces in the marketplace for new SIMs, hence NTel as a new entrant had many opportunities.

According to him, the company will be doing video over data and ensure Nigerians get high quality broadband, rather than cheap broadband.
He said: “Nigeria is in extreme ‘data hunger’, with just 92.7 million active Internet users as at June 2015, but the surprising issue is that only 27.6 million of the users access the Internet are on 3G/4G networks.
“It shows that more than 65 million go on the Internet on 2G, which means that we are losing the broadband race by using 2G network, since 4G is the heart of broadband.

“Our story is that of pure 4G network, with high speed broadband and better technology.
“We see ourselves as offering Nigeria the key ingredient with the deployment of 4G.”
The NTel boss said the assets acquired from NITEL included cellular spectrum/microwave frequencies, telecom operating licences, international submarine cable, which is the SAT-3, and cell towers.

Abass added that the company also acquired fibre and duct network (including Right Of Way), prime buildings and satellite earth stations.
Abass said the company would roll out services simultaneously in three cities before the end of 2015.
These are Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.

He noted that some of the equipment acquired from NITEL were obsolete, hence they would not be used to deploy the 4G services.
According to him, the 4G network to be built by NTel will be better than what is presently obtainable in the industry.
The company would start deploying fixed service in the second half of 2016, he said.
NTel’s ownership of SAT-3 would also help with superfast Internet from West to South Africa and Europe, all the way to Asia.

Politics / The Real Reason Buhari Cannot Appoint An Igbo Man Into His Kitchen Cabinet - Oko by SaniSANOH(m): 11:44am On Sep 14, 2015
[img]The Real Reason Buhari Cannot Appoint an Igbo Man Into His Kitchen Cabinet - Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state told SUN NEWSPAPER that President Muhammadu Buhari couldn't appoint an Igbo man into his cabinet because he doesn't trust them.

See excerpt below:

Recently, President Buhari made some key appointments, the so-called kitchen cabinets, where no Igbo got a slot. And before then, it was hoped that one of the persons in APC, a prominent Igbo son, would have been appointed into the office of SGF. And you came out to defend that appointment saying that what the Igbo need is development. Do you think the Igbo have not been shut out from the core area of the cabinet at the federal level?

Let me say to you, I share in what I call the sentiments of the Igbo. Having to look at the list of the appointees and they have not seen a face that looks like one of them from the South-east, I share the same sentiment. My statement was that the appointments made by President Buhari first, he made those appointments under his constitutional power and right. Number two, those are his personal staff. When he appointed the service chiefs, even three of the service chiefs are from one particular zone, the North-east. It is common sense that since the problem is there, let’s use the locals to solve the problem of the locals. There is more commitment to saving your own than anyone else.

So, there is nothing wrong with the appointments. Now, chief of Staff, secretary to the government and press secretary are too personal, they are the people you meet every day; they are like your wife you have to be with every morning. So if you bring somebody that you don’t know too well, even for me here as a governor, you have to meet with persons you must have worked with before and know that they have something to offer. They can understand when you turn your eyes to give them signal. These are some of the things put into consideration when you are appointing personal staff. So, those ones are too personal. So, I don’t think Buhari will make appointments any further, ministerial appointments, board appointments and all that and an Igbo man will not be there, it is not possible.

The Igbo will get their share. And some of the appointments we lost were of the doings of our people. When I was crying like a lonely voice in the wilderness that look at where Nigeria was going none of these leaders heard me. Igbo decided to put their eggs in one basket. After all that cry, they didn’t hear me. That is why today we don’t have a Senate president. Our son today would have been the Senate president if they didn’t do the evil they did in Orlu or in the South-east by our leaders. They made us lost the Senate president, the Speaker, the made us lost in all the key positions. So, I became helpless. I don’t have a Senator to make a Senate president. If I had a Senator, there was no way I wouldn’t have provided for Ndigbo a Senate president. But you cannot eat your cake and have it. So, our position right now, despite the appointments Igbo will get, my appeal to the president, they should show presence in the South-east by building projects. That is the only way I can justify telling Ndigbo to support President Buhari. After all, we had a Secretary to the Government from the South-East, so many key positions from the South-east, what single project came to Igbo land for six years of the last administration? None; so what do you want more, projects or appointments? And we are telling people to go and become ministers and SGF to bring projects. So, if that is the only reason you to have the projects, then that shouldn’t be the issue. So, that is my point before I get misunderstood.

Religion / Two Topless Feminists Storm Muslim Conference During Stage Lecture (PHOTOS) by SaniSANOH(m): 11:09am On Sep 14, 2015
Two topless activists stormed the stage during a speech at a Muslim conference in France.
The two women ran on stage, grabbed the microphone and punched the air as the two Imams they interrupted stepped back in shock and discomfort.
Reports claim that the two Imams were addressing the issue of whether men are allowed to beat their wives or not, according to Islam’s teachings when the 2 activists disrupted the lecture.

Reports claim that both women belong to a controversial feminist group called Femen and they both had messages emblazoned on their bare bodies in a black marker.
One of the messages is believed to translate to: “Nobody makes me submit”- a reference to the Islamic idea of ‘submission’.

Security guards soon threw the women off stage with more men, possibly organisers of the event, joining in to help throw them out as they struggled with security, even one of the men kicked one of the activists as she was being dragged along the ground.

The group, Femen, are notorious for their use of nudity to protest.

My opinion :-

I hope all the state commissioners and ministers can see this? bcuz I can’t find their names under the categories of people given authorization to use siren. If this can be strictly adhere to,then Nigeria is begining to respect order and rule of law.
A welcome development IG, keep it up,u will surely be remembered for it.

Don’t Pay More Than N6,350 To Acquire Drivers License – FRSC Tells Nigerians

Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, has said that the original Driver’s License (DL) in the country costs N6,350 and can be obtained from any DL office by applicants after a bio-metric capturing.
Oyeyemi while speaking in Abuja on Tuesday at a one-day workshop organized by the commission for members of security agencies in the country on verification procedure of DL and number plates said authentic licenses were produced in all the licensing offices in the country and that the process was very easy to follow.
“Members of the public who give money and passport size photograph to anybody in order to collect driver’s license are doing disservice to themselves.
“Going through third party costs more money and produces fake license to unsuspecting applicants, which is an offence. Cost of original driver’s license is N6,350 and the applicant must go for biometrics at any licensing office across the country to obtain the license.
“This is safer and costs less compared to the ones that pay third party for driver’s license and at the end of the day, they will be apprehended for carrying fake license,” the corps marshal said.
Oyeyemi further warned that anyone found with a fake license would be prosecuted as it is a criminal offence.

Education / Re: Our Parents Our Pride!!!! by SaniSANOH(m): 7:16pm On Aug 07, 2015
Sanoh:
BEST STORY FOR THE DAY

One young man went to apply for a managerial position in a big company.

He passed the initial interview, and now would meet the director for the final interview.

The director discovered from his CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent.

He asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" the youth answered "no".

" Was it your father who paid for your school fees?"

"My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees.” he replied.

" Where did your mother work?"

"My mother worked as clothes cleaner.”

The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.

" Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?"

"Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Besides, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.

The director said, "I have a request. When you go home today, go and clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning.

The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back home, he asked his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to her son.

The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that.

It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands.

Some bruises were so painful that his mother winced when he touched it.

This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fees.

The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his education, his school activities and his future.

After cleaning his mother hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.

That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.

Next morning, the youth went to the director's office.

The Director noticed the tears in the youth's eyes, when he asked:

"Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?"

The youth answered," I cleaned my mother's hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes'

“I know now what appreciation is. Without my mother, I would not be who I am today.

By helping my mother, only now do I realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done on your own.

And I have come to appreciate the importance and value of helping one’s family.

The director said, "This is what I am looking for in a manager.

I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done,

And a person who would not put money as his only goal in life.”

“You are hired.”

This young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates.

Every employee worked diligently and worked as a team.

The company's performance improved tremendously.

A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted,

Would develop an "entitlement mentality" and would always put himself first.

He would be ignorant of his parent's efforts.

When he starts work, he assumes that every person must listen to him,

And when he becomes a manager, he would never know the sufferings of his employees and would always blame others.

For this kind of people, who may be good academically, they may be successful for a while, but eventually they would not feel a sense of achievement.

They will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more.

PLEASE

If YOU are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying our children instead?

You can let your child live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch on a big screen TV.

But when you are cutting grass,

Please let them experience it.

After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters.

It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid,

But it is because you want to love.

Religion / Church Where Members Worship God Naked, Photos And Videos by SaniSANOH(m): 3:27pm On Aug 07, 2015
A Virginia-based church, White Tail Chapel, has caused a stir.

The church got everyone’s attention when it introduced a kind of worship where the members have to praise God naked. Although the rule was not made compulsory for the members of the church a year ago when the idea was introduced, on Sunday, August 2nd, 2015, the head pastor announced to his congregants that nudity is now mandatory in the church.

Daily Mail reports that the church, which is located in Ivor in the southern state of Virginia, has since then asked members and worshippers alike to leave behind their material concerns including clothing anytime they come to worship. The church now describes itself as a family nudist community where visitors can enjoy all manner of activities, including spiritual worship in a completely natural (nude) way.

Freedom: Pastor Allen Parker said he came to the decision to allow naked worship after concluding his flock should be free to forgo materialism and the 'pretense' of clothing if they desire

In justifying the church’s ridiculous way of worship, Pastor Allen Parker said that many of Jesus’ most important moments happened while he was naked. Recently, the church even conducted a marriage in the nude with couple Katie and Robert.

Pastor Parker said: “When Jesus was born he was naked, when he was crucified he was naked and when he arose he left his clothes in the tomb and he was naked. If God made us that way, how can that be wrong? I consider this a gift and a privilege God has given me as our members are caring, understanding and they’re community and family oriented. We have one of the most involved chapels anyplace around. I’ll put our church up against others around.”

Robert Church also justified getting married nude, saying that White Tail Chapel lacks the pretense sometimes found at other places of worship. He added that nudity is a great equalizer as it becomes impossible to judge someone based on their expensive or shabby clothes if they are not wearing any.

Romance / Never Let Her Go If You Can Say These 11 Things About Her. Photo by SaniSANOH(m): 8:50pm On Aug 06, 2015
Never let her go if you can say these 11 things about her

Occasionally, we meet a woman who turns out to be the one we’ve been looking for our whole life — the woman of our dreams. Such encounters are often completely unexpected. Nevertheless, they change us forever.
Nature made us in such a way that two contrasting halves can become a perfect whole. The search for that other half often turns out to be an arduous journey. But believe me, you’ll know you’ve found her if you can say these 11 things about her. And if you’re lucky enough to find that single, perfect flower out there in the desert, hold on to her as strongly as you can; never let her go.
She’s supportive
Every man needs a woman who has the wisdom to help him get through life successfully. It’s often said that behind every great man stands an even greater woman, and this is true. Without a woman, a man can sometimes be little more than an egoist. A woman will bring meaning and direction to his life, and make him wiser.
She’s beautiful
Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. If she’s the most beautiful woman you’ve ever seen — according to your taste, and no one else’s — then hold on to her. There are people who pay too much attention to someone’s physical appearance, and there are those who, perhaps in reaction to this, have revolted against the very idea that external beauty is important at all. Yet human beings have reveled in each other’s beauty as long as they’ve been able to see, and they shouldn’t feel ashamed to do so. But only if we recognise that, whilst it’s important, it’s not the most important thing we should value in someone.
She’s kind and attentive
If a woman isn’t kind at heart, then what meaningful place can she really have in your life? It almost goes without saying that the love of your life should be someone who looks after you, in every sense of the word.
She’s energetic
Sometimes, life is complicated. Sometimes, it can be boring and monotonous. Women aren’t there just to distract men from all this. Nevertheless, it’s more likely than not that you’ll feel a great deal happier with a woman who is energetic, lively and looking for adventure.
She loves you to the bottom of her heart
This is without question the most important thing. When a woman loves someone, she loves them with all her heart, dedicating herself entirely to them. If you find a woman who genuinely loves you, then you’ve found the most precious treasure the world can offer you.
She knows how to compromise
Everyone can be stubborn. Often we’re satisfied with the way things are, and aren’t especially open to the idea that something needs to change. Of course, finding a woman who’s ready to compromise is only half the battle — you have to be ready as well. A successful relationship is built on compromise, and you have no choice but to accept this if you want it to last.
She makes you feel that you’re in the right place
You know you’re in love with someone when you feel that you’ve found your own unique place in this world, as if for the first time in your life. You’re where you should be, and you don’t need anything or anyone else. If you see your own soul reflected in her eyes, then you’re home, at last. Why on Earth would you leave?
She’s more than happy to tell you when you’re wrong
Every man needs a woman who will let him know when he’s acting foolishly. Guys have this strange ability to make the wrong decisions and do really stupid things. When you find that woman who keeps you on the right track and tells you when you’re wrong, you’re life can only get better — even if you sometimes find it frustrating.
She has strength of character
All of us are looking for someone who fits our own idea of the perfect woman, but in every case this means some combination of strength and feminity. A woman with strength of character is exactly what every man needs. And one that expresses her feminity in whichever way she chooses is...well, also ideal. These two qualities are not contradictory; i

Politics / Photo: Amaechi I Asked God To Protect Me By Making Gej Lose-pix by SaniSANOH(m): 10:46am On Aug 04, 2015
I asked God to protect me by making Jonathan lose – Amaechi

Former Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers said on Monday in Abuja that the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in this year’s general elections was engineered by God.
Mr. Amaechi said this at a reception organised for him by the Committee of Friends at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
He said God engineered the victory by giving the APC a good and credible presidential candidate, which enabled the party to win the last election.
He thanked all members of the party for working hard during the campaign, saying the victory was for all party members.
“Gov. Amaechi did not contribute more than you did. We all worked together; in fact, it will be unfair for us to claim the glory.
“This is because I believe that the victory of APC was engineered by God.
“And I saw it coming and told my friends that we would win. People thought I was a political mathematician.
“The more I prayed, the more God gave me the confidence that we would win.
“One of my prayer points was `God, do not tell me You will protect me after we lose; protect me now by making sure that we win’; and we won.”
Mr. Amaechi, however, stressed that APC must deliver, as the citizens would hold it accountable in 2019.
“We will not disappoint Nigerians. We believe APC governors are progressives and therefore, they cannot afford not to deliver.”
The former governor said that the struggle had been quite challenging since he joined APC, adding that the state’s allocation from the Federation Account had reduced grossly.
“From 2013, we were receiving N6 billion; by the time I left office, our wage bill monthly was N9.2 billion.’’
Mr. Amaechi recalled that when the state was receiving about N20 billion monthly, he employed more teachers for the university, college of education, polytechnics as well as secondary and primary schools.
He said that the increased wage bill of N9.2 billion was because more people were employed in the state.
“The fuel subsidy was N300 billion under former President Olusegun Obasanjo and it remained the same under President Umaru Yar’Adua.
“Within six months under President Goodluck Jonathan, the fuel subsidy rose from N300 billion to N1.9 trillion.
“Yet, Jonathan wanted more money for fuel subsidy.
“This prompted the trouble between me and the Jonathan administration,” he said.
Mr. Amaechi thanked the organisers for the reception in his honour.
The National Chairman of the APC, John Oyegun, said Mr. Amaechi had the ability to struggle, fight and win power, describing him as “hyper-active”.
“Amaechi brought passion and energy into APC and he was aware of the risks of failure. The man we are celebrating today deserves honour,” Mr. Oyegun said.
Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Chairman of the occasion, said Mr. Amaechi had transformed Rivers within the seven years he governed the state.
“I know this because I have visited Rivers many times and have seen the work he did.
“The primary schools in the state are better than some state universities.
“He also transformed the roads, health sector and created jobs, among other things.
“All these feats make him a transformative leader,” Mr. El-Rufai said.
The governor said that Mr. Amaechi was constantly strategising for the party, making him an arrowhead in the lead-up to the governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states.
Mr. El-Rufai said the former Rivers governor particularly contributed to efforts to increase the collection of the Permanent Voter Cards from 50 per cent to 90 per cent nationally, shortly before the general elections.
He said that Mr. Amaechi was worthy of being celebrated because he displayed courage in everything he did and cared about humanity.
“He has no regard for ethnic affiliation; he has no regard for religious affiliation.
“He is a devout Catholic who believes that every human being is entitled to his or her religious beliefs.
“What matters most to Amaechi are fairness
Justice and I am happy to call him my friend,’’ Mr. El-Rufa’i said.
