Health / Re: Scissors Pulled From Man's Stomach 18 Years After Surgery by Sanuzi(m): 7:42pm On Jan 03, 2017
Lucky guy!!!

Just when you thought you have seen it all
Tville:
A man has had scissors removed from his abdomen which were left behind during surgery 18 years ago, after reporting a stomachache that was nearly two decades in the making.

Ma Van Nhat, 54-year old Vietnamese, underwent surgery in 1998 after a car accident and only recently discovered that doctors had left an unwelcome gift behind when they closed him up.

Doctors discovered the 15-centimetre (six-inch) scissors near his colon after a recent ultrasound.

He had a three-hour operation at the weekend to remove the scissors, according to Ngo Trung Thang, deputy head of general affairs at Gang Thep Thai Nguyen hospital, 80 kilometres (50 miles) north of Hanoi.

"He is recovering well," Thang told AFP Tuesday.

Nhat had spent nearly two decades "eating, drinking and having a pretty normal life", according to Suc Khoe va Doi Song news site, the official mouthpiece of Vietnam's health ministry.

The ultrasound that discovered the scissors only came about after Nhat reported stomach pains.

Officials said they were searching for the doctors who performed surgery in Bac Kan province in 1998, but have not yet tracked down any culprits.

Webmasters / Re: Joomla Commences Website Administrator Certification Examination by Sanuzi(m): 3:46pm On Dec 29, 2016
todhost:
Source: https://www.todhost.com/blog/joomla-commences-website-administrator-certification-examination.html

The Joomla! Administrator Exam is the first available Joomla! Certification exam. It covers topics related to the everyday use of building, managing and maintaining Joomla! websites.

The Administrator Exam is part of the Joomla! Certification Program. Its goals are to establish a certain standard and provide a documented measurement of knowledge. This ensures the competence of Joomla! Professionals and contributes to the development of a qualified workforce. It will also provide clients an easier way to find a Joomla! Professional and assess the capacities of those they hire to build their websites using Joomla.

The Joomla! Administrator Exam is based on a clean Joomla! installation (downloaded from joomla.org) using the default language (en-GB), the default editor (TinyMCE), default template (Protostar) and settings, without any 3rd party extension or customization.
Topics covered by the Joomla! Administrator Exam

Joomla! Architecture
Preparing and installing Joomla!
Website Structure
Managing and Editing Articles
Managing Users and Access (ACL)
Managing Menus
Security and Maintenance
Upgrading the System
Managing Extensions
Multilingual Sites

No PHP, CSS or FTP knowledge necessary.

Taking the exam
Locations

Exams will be taken at Joomla! Learning Partners (JLP's), JoomlaDays or Joomla! User Groups (JUG's).

Find a JLP near you Find a JoomlaDay near you Find a JUG near you

What does it look like

Exams are taken on site, they are computer based, in a multiple choice format. A total of 60 questions need to be answered in 90 minutes. The exam is currently only available in English. As soon as enough translators have passed the exam, it will be offered in different languages. This approach is necessary in order not to exclude anyone from taking the exam.

Results

You will know whether you have passed or not right away!

Validity

Every Joomla! major version will have its own exam. The first exam will test the skills for Joomla! version 3.x The badge received is valid for the lifetime of the covered major version. Different Joomla! versions vary in the ways users carry out administrator tasks. This is why, when a new version is released, you have to verify your skills again.

People are already becoming Joomla! Certified.

Below are excerpts from an interview with Luca Marzo from the Joomla! Certification Team who provided answers to some critical questions:

Question #1. Hi Luca. Can you introduce yourself?

Hello, I’m Luca Marzo, and I’m the newly elected team leader of the Certification Team. I’m 26 years old and am a student and web consultant. I live near Lecce, Italy and am involved in several ways in the Joomla! Project. Beyond the Certification Team, I serve as a member of the Production Leadership Team and am a JED listing manager and a Trademark Team member.

Question #2. What exams are available?

Currently the Joomla! Certification Program (JCP) provides only the Joomla! Administrator Exam. It covers all the knowledge that a skilled Joomla! website administrator should have.

During the next year, JCP will also provide the Joomla! Template Designer Exam and the Joomla! Extension Developer Exam.

Question #3. Who is taking the exams?

Different kinds of people take the exam. We have met website integrators, developers, web agencies, community members and so on. In the first sessions, we saw people who wanted to increase their knowledge and improve their professional profile.

Question #4. How do people take the exams?

There are different ways to take the Joomla! Certification Exam: attending a session at a Joomla! Learning Partner (JLP), attending a session at a Joomla! User Group locally or attending a JoomlaDay. People could also attend events like the Joomla! World Conference.

To discover the upcoming sessions, just visit the Exam Calendar at certification.joomla.org.

Question #5. How are people preparing?

People should study and train before attending an exam session: the exam is not just a poll or a game. It’s an exam for professional use. The JCP has provided a Learning List that contains all the necessary knowledge that a candidate should have in order to pass the exam: click here to see the Learning List.

Furthermore, we recommend that people train using a clean Joomla! installation, taken from downloads.joomla.org, without any customisation or extension and with the default settings and templates.

Question #6. What plans does the JCP have?

As mentioned previously, JCP will start working soon on the next exams for Developers and Template Designers. These will hopefully be released during the upcoming year.

The JCP team is working on a tool that will involve the Community in the exam building process, allowing people from the Community to suggest questions and answers that will be evaluated, reviewed and eventually “merged” by the Certification Exam Team.

The official certification website is a great place to find out more.

Learn More About Why Joomla and Its Capabilities

Joomla is the second most popular Content Management System used on the web today and powers millions of website including some of the most popular like the GTBand website. It is next to WordPress with around 75 million downloads since 2005 when it was first released.

Joomla is powerful enough to run most websites without any problems, and it doesn’t require much technical experience to run. Joomla allows you to develop a modern website without any knowledge of coding.

As the second most used CMS (behind WordPress), Joomla also has a lot of plug-ins and themes available to choose from, around 10000 or so. So customizing the look and feel of any website is much easier with the use of these supporting extensions..

Here are a few more reasons Joomla might be ideal for you:

Social Networking – Joomla makes creating social networks easy with ready to use plugins and extensions. Social networks can be a powerful asset for many sites, and with Joomla, you can have one up and running extremely quickly and easily.
E-commerce Sites – Joomla also makes setting up an online store quick and painless. You can setup e-Commerce shops with both Drupal and WordPress also, but it tends to require more effort and special customizations. With Joomla, things are easy when it comes to setting up e-commerce shops.
Not too Technical – Joomla has found the middle ground between the ease of managing a WordPress website and the power of a Drupal site. The good news is that most non-tech savvy people should be able to run a great Joomla site without needing any technical support.
Help Portal – Joomla offers a great help portal for asking questions and getting technical support. It’s not fast or extensive as WordPress’ community-based support pages, but definitely quicker (and cheaper) than Drupal’s technical support options.
Free – Like both WordPress and Drupal, Joomla is also a free option to use on your own web servers. However similar to Drupal, there is no option to have it hosted for free like WordPress offers.

Joomla users love that their websites can do almost anything, without sacrificing ease-of-use. Joomla has brilliantly combined the power and flexibility Drupal has to offer, while also retaining the intuitive, user-friendliness that WordPress excels at, making it a perfect middle ground in a crowded marketplace.

Congrats oooooooooo
metronaija2:

Mrs Obaseki, on Sunday, celebrated with patients, especially children at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital, Central hospital and the University of Benin teaching Hospital, all in Benin respectively.

At the Stella Obasanjo hospital, Benin, she offered to pay the medical bill of an unconscious child as she celebrated Christmas with newly born babies children and patients in the various wards.

In her remarks, Mrs. Obaseki said, “That’s what life is all about, to make ourselves instruments in God’s hands, to be used to bless other human beings.

``Whatever we do, it’s God that is doing it, not human beings. To me, it is a privilege and opportunity to be used by God’s hand. I am very glad to find myself in that position. I thank God for everything,” she said,

The governor’s wife, was also at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital where she commended the management for the commendable hygiene and high sanitary condition of the environment

Mrs. Obaseki said she was delighted to visit the patients and babies on Christmas day, adding that “I am very pleased to be here. I have thoroughly enjoyed myself.

``I have to commend the hospital; this is like being at home. No smell of anything foul or vile or unpleasant.

``It’s highly commendable and for a big hospital as yours, second largest in the country, and you are keeping the standard so high. Please keep it up, and well done, sir.

`` Congratulations on that. “By God’s grace, when next i visit, I want to see the standard improving. You have done well, but there is always room for improvement.

``I will be looking forward to coming here every year and enjoy as I have enjoyed today,’’ she said.

Dr. Isaac Omorogiuwa , the Medical Director of Stella Obasanjo Hospital, while thanking the wife of the Governor for the visit, thanked er for te magnanimity for paying the medical bills of the unconscious patient.

He said, “I want to say on behalf of the management of this hospital that we appreciate your coming. More importantly, her Excellency has just informed me that she would foot the bill of that unconscious child.

``This goes to show your magnanimity and human kindness. We appreciate you.”

At the UBTH, its Chief Medical Director, Prof. Mike Ibadin, who thanked Mrs. Obaseki for attending the Christmas party, said the essence of the event was to share the joyous moment with patients who could not celebrate in their homes.

He said, “What we are doing today, the essence is for us to share the joyous moment with patients in the wards, who for circumstances beyond their control are compelled to do their Christmas in the wards.

``At the ward you have just visited is one of the maternity wards. The hospital is an 860 bedded-ward hospital, the second largest in the country.

``We are happy this is your first official assignment here. So, we wish you well, and we hope and pray that by this time next year, you have occasion to repeat an event like this.”

``The Christmas baby of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital who weighed 2.8kg at birth was born by Mrs. Serah Amadin at 00. 50 in the morning.

At the the Central Hospital, Mrs. Obaseki visited patients, babies and their mothers and shared the joy of Christmas with them with the presentation of gifts to them.

`` Among the babies she visited was the Christmas baby born by Mrs. Anita Okoro, a male delivered at 1.59 am and weighed 3.5 kg at birth.

The Medical Director of the Central Hospital, Benin City Dr. Barry Uwadiae, thanked the wife of the Governor for remembering them at this festive period and expressed gratitude for the gifts she presented to patients, babies and their mothers in the wards.

AutoJoshNG:
Following the announcement by the Federal Government of Nigeria that Monday 26th, Tuesday 27th, December 2016 and Monday 2nd, January 2017 have been declared public holidays for Christmas and Boxing day celebration, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has advised Lagosians to celebrate the festive periods with caution to avoid unnecessary loss of lives and properties.

Speaking in his Office today at Alausa Secretariat, the General Manager, Mr. Tiamiyu Adesina urged Lagosians to stay safe as they should celebrate the yuletide, by avoiding excessive drinking and reckless driving on the highways as several lives had been lost due to these illicit acts.

According to him " as the year comes to an end, it is a common tradition for people to visit their loved ones; attend social events; disobey traffic rules; excessive consumption of alcoholic products; driving vehicles that are not road-worthy" all these, he said usually results in loss of lives and properties.

He also noted that rates of accidents and emergencies are usually at its peak due to the euphoria of excitement displayed by people while trying to move from one point to another. Hence, the need to celebrate the festive period devoid of these acts become essential.

Adesina also recalled that the Lagos State Police Command in December 2014, outlawed the use of Fireworks popularly known as "Biscos" and "Banger" because of the potential hazards associated with the use of these devices to the people and its environment in the State. To this end, parents and guardians are therefore, seriously advised to discourage their wards on the use of fireworks which could lead to domestic accidents such as skin burn and sometimes destruction of properties through fire outbreak.

The LASEMA boss also hinted that aside the routine night patrol by the Agency's towing vehicles around the 3rd Mainland Bridge to Berger end of Lagos Ibadan Expressway and the Western Avenue to Lagos Abeokuta Expressway, the LASEMA Response Unit has deployed personnel and heavy duty trucks such as the Super Metro to be stationed at Anthony, to cover Ikorodu Axis and another one at Ajah to cover Lekki-Epe Expressway. Other areas of coverage include: Ikeja, Mile 2, Badagry Expressway, Iyana Iba- LASU Road, Igando-Ikotun Axis.

Also, the Agency will extend patrol through Apapa, Orile Igamu, Ijora Badia, Ajegunle Axis and its environs. He expained that the essence of these patrol is to tow off any broken down vehicle(s) causing impediment on the road as this could possibly result in an accident, loss of man-hour and gridlock associated with broken down vehicles on these roads.

The General Manager also appealed to Religious bodies, Club owners and Event Centres to work with the State Government and Security Agencies to monitor the activities around them and report suspicious and unusual activities during such gathering that may compromise security of lives and properties.

He noted that Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Safety Service, Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Nigerian Police Force, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and all the other agencies that are relevant in the management of emergencies in the State have been put on red alert to secure and protect the lives and properties of the people living and embarking on business activities in the State.

The Genaral Manager however, assured that the State Emergency Call Centre 767/112 is open for 24hours to any distress call from all the nooks and crannies of the State.

Finally, while wishing all Lagosians a wonderful celebration, Tiamiyu Adesina re-affirmed his Agency's readiness and commitment in the management of emergency/disaster in the State through adequate and quick intervention.

Unexpected Reactions

When I quit I knew I might have to give the occasional explanation about why I wasn’t part of any social network. But I wasn’t prepared for the extremes of reactions that came my way from friends and strangers alike.

intrepid:
What should I do to the themes so they can display the pictures I upload to my posts?

I have tried changing the themes but most of them (the ones I prefer) wouldn't display pictures.

Did I do anything wrong?

Help please.

If your are working with Twenty Eleven I recommend clicking the link b4 post and reading a comprehensive article on how the theme is designed to operate.

or

where are you trying to put the images? You have to insert them into a post or page. On your page or post editor, click on the “Add Media” button. Try that an let me know how it works: )
