Former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Kawu Baraje said the people of Kwara State especially the Ilorin indigenes would resist attempt to cede the state to the West in the forthcoming elections. He said the adoption of campaign slogan, Otoge (which literally means enough is enough in Yoruba dialect) was a subtle attempt to surrender the state to a one-man rule in the South-West, saying the slogan cannot win an election. Speaking with Daily Trust in Lagos, the PDP chieftain recalled that there had been such attempt to hijack Kwara from the North in 1954 and the conspiracy failed. According to him, those behind the present move were few “disgruntled and misguided” individuals who have no people behind them. He is confident that the PDP would coast to victory in the 2019 election, saying the people are behind the leadership of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki. He said, “What wins election are the voters and electorate themselves. As far we are concerned, it is not strange to us and it is not strange to any community particularly Ilorin. In 1954, there was a similar attempt to cede Ilorin to the western and the southern part of Nigeria and the parlance that time was that awa Olo West (we are going to the west) and there was an opposite parlance of Awa olo West(we are not going to the West https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/2019-attempt-to-cede-kwara-to-the-west-will-fail-baraje.html

Sir, Not because of the economic importance? Seriously Atiku hasn’t changed He lacks all morals to lead a country like ours |
PEOPLE’S Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has promised the Southeast people that he will complete the Second Niger Bridge. Atiku, who made the promise yesterday at the party’s mega campaign rally in Onitsha, said he would ensure its quick completion because of his wife, who hails from the commercial city of Anambra. He also promised to ensure the completion and construction of roads in the region with the assistance of his running mate, Mr. Peter Obi. Atiku, who was accompanied to the campaign field by Obi and his wife, Jenifer Atiku Abubakar, said he was not in Onitsha to campaign, but to present his wife and deputy, who he said were the real contestants. “I’m not here to campaign, but to inform you that your son, Peter Obi and your daughter are the real contestants. I’m in the minority. “You asked me to complete Second Niger Bridge, that I’ll do because of my wife. With Peter Obi as the VP, be rest assured that the roads in the region will be completed too,” the candidate said. Asking the people to get their permanent voters’ cards (PVCs) ready to vote out President Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC) administration at the February election, Atiku asked them to vote for PDP candidates. Also speaking, the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, who presented the party’s candidates, canvased votes for them at the polls. During his visit to the Obi of Onitsha, Obi Alfred Achebe, Atiku sought for the blessing of the monarch, which, according to him, would boost his economic dreams for the country. “Your royal blessing will nurture this quest for new economic direction of our country through new political economy resolve.” He also assured the monarch that his policy would promote culture and tourism in the country. Atiku also yesterday vowed to reactivate all ports in Delta State, if elected president. Atiku, who addressed PDP faithful in the state, was accompanied by his running mate, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Secondus and Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. He said his administration would complete the Federal Government projects abandoned by the APC, adding that the projects were abandoned because the state “is loyal to the PDP”. Atiku said the Second Niger Bridge would receive priority attention by his administration. He said his administration would reward the loyalty of Delta State to the PDP since 1999. His words: “All the projects abandoned by the APC will be completed. This state has suffered marginalisation by the APC because of its loyalty to the PDP. Because you have been loyal, my government will reward your loyalty.” Atiku accused the APC of engaging in propaganda, adding that the party has reneged on its promises of fixing the Nigerian economy, tackling security and providing jobs for the masses. http://thenationonlineng.net/ill-complete-2nd-niger-bridge-wife-says-atiku/ |

Arrant nonsense It’s not a religious thing Onnoghen is not representing the Christian He’s representing himself and his numerous girlfriends and families All the so called godfathers will be a thing of the past by February 16 Nigerians will speak strongly |
39 9' FEATURED Danjuma, other Christian elders reject Onnoghen’s suspension, ACF backs Buhari Published January 31, 2019 Olalekan Adetayo, Chukwudi Akasike, Friday Olokor, Adelani Adepegba, Oluwatosin Omojuyigbe, Godwin Isenyo and Sampson Itode The National Christian Elders Forum on Wednesday protested against the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, by President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as an Islamic agenda. The organisation called on Nigerians to mobilise themselves to resist the Islamists in the country. The NCEF said the President’s decision to suspend Onnoghen was a “judicial coup.” What was surprising, it said, remained the apparent unwillingness of Christians and other Nigerians to understand the core problem of the country. Members of the group include Lt.Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), Solomon Asemota (SAN), Prof. Joseph Otubu, Gen. Joshua Dogonyaro (retd.), Dr Kate Okpareke, Dr Ayo Abifarin, Gen. Zamani Lekwot (retd.), Elder Moses Ihonde, Elder Nat Okoro and Elder Matthew Owojaiye. Others are Justice Kalajine Anigbogu (retd.), Elder Shyngle Wigwe, a former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, L. Dabup, Sir John W. Bagu, Dr Saleh Hussaini, Elder Mike Orobator, Justice James Ogebe, JSC (retd.), Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Chief Debo Omotosho, Dame Priscilla Kuye, Dr S. D. Gani, Mrs Osaretin Demuren and Prof. Yussuf Turaki. The NCEF’s statement, which was signed by its chairman, Asemota, was titled, “CJN Onnoghen: What is really at stake and the way out.” The group said, “In 2015, Nigerians unwittingly elected an Islamist government into office, supposedly on a platform of democracy. It is with this as background that the questionable suspension of the CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, should be situated. The ‘judicial coup’ is not only against the judiciary, but also the constitution that is under attack and with it, the sovereignty of the Nigerian state as a democratic nation.” The Christian elders also restated their commitment to prayerfully support Christian presidential candidates and indeed any candidates who would be committed and loyal to the tenets of liberal democracy, human rights and equality under the law. Asemota said the Islamists that belonged to the Salafist sect believed that modern society should run according to the 6th century pattern of Islam. “Islamism is not a religion but a political ideology which holds that wherever Islam is, Islam must dominate,” he said. He added, “That is one reason why Islamism is called “political Islam. However, while all Islamists are Muslims, all Muslims are not Islamists. The National Christian Elders Forum is calling on Nigerians to mobilise to resist the Islamists in Nigeria and ensure that they do not return to power again so that Nigerians can concentrate on building a just and equitable society.” According to them, infrastructure that is sustaining Islamism in Nigeria must be dismantled and democracy must be promoted. https://punchng.com/danjuma-other-christian-elders-reject-onnoghens-suspension-acf-backs-buhari/ |
