they ought to be released, they have been there for too long now |

The President articulated the objectives of the proposed GNU as follows: (a) to see if we can reform and change the political culture of the political class in this country, (b) to work out a framework and parameters for the political reform process and then (c) to also discuss the possibility of any political party in opposition that wants to participate and under what circumstances. The GNU is an attractive vehicle for reducing tension, and managing differences within the polity. The reason is that the so-called Government of National Unity invariably stops at the part of President Yar'Adua's objectives ; to discuss the possibility of any political party in opposition that wants to participate and under what circumstances. that is the sharing of political positions to the aggrieved rather than a meaningful effort at building consensus on key national priorities. Buhari will never drop his petition, atiku might. I don't think the GNU will work because, the party programmes are differnet, Anpp doesnt so much believe in private goverment lead economy, or maybe its a ploy to destabilise the oppositiom |
if not for OBJ , nobody would be talking about yaradua today. |
the guy tried abeg, if i were in his shoes, i wouldnt do it. The figures i hear now are varying some say 850 , punch even went as high over 900. abi addition don hard. he has set a precedent, and it does mean cos nigerians will follow up on this since he promised to sign the FOI bill asap. goodluck johnathan might be embarassed if he declares his. |

South Africa's main trade unions have ended their four-week strike, which has closed most of the country's schools and hospitals. Their labour leaders are smart enough to protect their economy. |
True to his world, Yar'dua has declared his asset to the code of conduct burea. He is worth about 769 million naira. Will other leaders in the country follow suit? Yar’Adua: I’m Worth N850m |
it might suceed, but i doubt it |
Presently there is an attempt by anenih to create a new power centre in the PDP in unison with IBB |
The chairmanship of BOT had pitted Anenih against Obasanjo and it was another indication of the no love lost between the former president and his former minister. The two were known to have had a chummy relationship until the tail end of Obasanjo’s eight-year tenure. The duo disagreed over the candidature of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume for the governorship of Imo State. While Obasanjo was said to be opposed to Araraume, Anenih wanted the former Senator. Obasanjo and Anenih also disagreed over the recent election of the Senate President, Senator David Mark. While Obasanjo, though out of power, had rooted for the party’s decision to endorse Mark, Anenih was at the head of a group of some former governors sponsoring the candidature of former Benue State governor, Senator George Akume who eventually lost the election. The former President was said to have lambasted Anenih over his move against Mark, allegedly calling his former “Mr. Fit It” a rebel. Meanwhile, the PDP National Caucus will meet today to decide the fate of Ali, its National Chairman, in view of the zoning of the chairmanship position to the South-east. At the meeting, the national caucus will also review the situation in the party especially as regards the dissolution of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC). THISDAY gathered that with the adoption of Obasanjo as the BOT Chairman, the only office left unoccupied is that of the National Chairman. The national caucus will also review the agreements between PDP and the other three parties it planned to include in the Government of National Unity of President Yar’Adua. Mr fix it also dissapointed OBj during the third trm when in the heat of it ,it was alleged that he travelled.Yesterday’s meeting of the board that produced Obasanjo as chairman took place in the absence of Anenih, the Secretary of the Board, Professor Jerry Gana, and former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, as well as a majority of the members of the board. THISDAY checks revealed that the meeting did not form a quorum http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=82179 |

"I have been a top player in the Nigerian capital market and have helped to run a top company, so, at this stage of my life, I do not want to be part of anything that will mislead the capital market". Kolade was, for years, Cadbury Chairman before his diplomatic career. "I have no investment in Transcorp", he maintained, moreover, "I have no intention to invest in Transcorp, therefore, at this point, I am not connected with (it) in any way. "It may be true that one or two stakeholders in Transcorp have approached me to have some connections with the company, but I have certainly not indicated that I want to do so". He explained what he meant by ‘misleading’ the capital market. "Anytime there's an announcement about having a change in the board of a publicly quoted company, people who want to have anything to do with such a company usually watch certain names, and they may decide, if this board is going to have a certain person, that is either a good or bad thing http://www.independentngonline.com/?c=44&a=29430 |
3 year old, very unfortunate. i would prefer if they kidnapped past goverment officials from that region, instead of expats and children |
untiy goverment in nigeria is a come and chop arrangement, why dont we have strong oppositon parties, i guess they are all the same. does yaradua expect that buhari will drop his election petition against him, maybe atiku will, i trust OUK he might nominate himself. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=82037 |

From the list, President Umaru Yar’Adua shortlisted a name from each state and sent to the Senate. He sent the names along with the six he picked from each of the geo-political zones. Under the 1999 Constitution, the Senate is empowered to ratify the list of ministers before the appointees resume office. Besides, they are to face a Senate panel where they will answer questions about their suitability for the job. |
if obj were 2 list two names , uba might crop up. remember he is ubasanjo , obj godson and dear to his heart. i hope it is not true |

na who wan die, BLACK recruits into the United States (U.S.) military has plunged by more than one-third since the Afghanistan and Iraq wars began and other job prospects soared. Relatives of potential recruits are increasingly discouraging them from signing up. Data obtained by The Associated Press (AP) revealed. All four military services experienced the drop in active duty recruits. But the military service rebuff becomes even more obvious when National Guard and Reserve recruitment was considered. The findings reflected the growing unpopularity of the wars, particularly among family members and other adults who exert influence over high school and college students considering the military as an opportunity to serve their country and further education or build a career. Walking past the Army recruiting station in downtown Washington, D.C., last past week, Sean Glover said he has done all he can to talk black relatives out of joining the military. "I don't think it's a good time. I don't support the government's efforts here and abroad," said Glover, 36. The message comes as no surprise to the Pentagon where efforts are under way to increase the size of the Army and Marine Corps. Marine Commandant Gen. James T. Conway agreed that the bloodshed in Iraq - where more than 3,540 U.S. troops have died - is the biggest deterrent for prospective recruits. Pentagon data showed that there were nearly 51,500 new black recruits for active duty and reserves in 2001. The number last year fell by 38 per cent to less than 32,000. When only active duty troops are counted, the number of black recruits went from more than 31,000 in 2002 to about 23,600 last year, almost one-quarter fewer. The decline is particularly stark for the Army. Meanwhile, the U.S.-led coalition and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) forces fighting insurgents in Afghanistan have killed at least 203 civilians so far this year - surpassing the 178 civilians killed in militant attacks, an AP tally indicated. Insurgency attacks and military operations have surged in recent weeks, and in the past 10 days, more than 90 civilians have been killed by air-strikes and artillery fire targeting Taliban insurgents, said President Hamid Karzai. |

Sunday Tribune gathered that the meeting between the labour unions ended almost in a deadlock as the NLC was ready to agree to N70 per litre while the TUC was ready to shift ground to about N67.80 which would be half way between the two divides. It was also gathered that at the meeting of the Labour union, Chief Anthony Anenith, the currents chairman of the Board of Trustees of the PDP and Senator David Mark, the Senate President met with the labour leaders before they moved en-masse to Aso Villa at about 7.30 p.m on Saturday night. Sunday Tribune also gathered that part of the problems that created a divide among the labour leaders was the suspicion of ethnic sentiments that crept in among the leaders. There was also a reported important phone call that the NLC president, Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar, received from Katsina while negotiation was on. The Nigerian president, Umar Musa Yar’Adua has also reportedly written a letter to the NLC on Friday night restating his position on the fuel pricing and appealing to the Labour to allow peace reign in the nation while allowing his government stand on firm footing. |
