That jerk happens because your heart 'kicks' you back to life once it 'senses' a very low blood pressure in your system which means you are gradually slipping into death.

The jerk is similar to the defibrillator shock that is given to some patients in the hospital like we see in some foreign movies to shock the heart back into action.

Your heart can't supply enough electricity like a defibrillator, The pace maker or SA node isn't powerful enough to put you in a state of electric shock.
A normal heart produces around 1 watt of electric current which is equivalent to 100 volts.
A defibrillator produces a stunning 200-600 volts.. possibly more.

So what you're saying is very wrong.
It has nothing to do with low blood pressure if not we wouldn't only be experiencing it when we're about to sleep.
We would experience it while awake too.
