Pick your most anticipated 2024 movie from each row.

Me:

DUNE PART TWO
DEADPOOL 3
A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE
JOKER 2

Dune 2 is the only movie I will download from your list because I enjoyed the Part 1. I will not waste my data on the rest like I did for “The Killer” & “Killers of the Flower Moon”.

Robert De Niro is one of my all-time greatest actors.

I first came across this 80-year-old brilliant actor around 1994 when I watched “Goodfellas - 1990”. I no go lie, I could barely comprehend the movie because it wasn’t subtitled until I watched it again in 1999.

Over the years, I have watched a lot of De Niro movies, but tonight, I leave you with the ones that I can never get tired of watching over & over again.

1.) Goodfellas 1990 - 9/10

“I’m like Paulie in Goodfellas, you can call me the Don”.

I am not exaggerating, I have never seen anybody that watched this movie and didn’t like it.

This movie is one of the reasons I adore Martin Scorsese. This movie sweet gidi-gan.

2.) Heat 1995 - 8/10

When I was in Primary School, my friends and I used to play this game called “Police & Thieves”. I always enjoyed being a thief because the Police would be chasing after us and it’s kinda invigorating.

Now, this movie depicts what I just described above. If you enjoy watching “Police & Thieves” movies, trust me, you won’t regret watching this movie.

In fact, this movie is rated the BEST “Cops and Robbers” movie of all time.

https://m.imdb.com/list/ls062929984/

Another Cops & Robbers movie that I love so much is “The Usual Suspects - 1995, closely followed by “Training Day - 2001”.

3.) Analyze This 1999 - 8/10

This movie is like a comedy and not exceptionally good but I so much enjoy watching it. Its sequel “Analyze That - 2002” isn’t that bad as well.

4.) Casino 1995 - 9.5/10

Another masterpiece from Martin Scorsese.

Gentlemen, this is “my own” best Robert De Niro movie of all time.

In all the movies I keep in my archive, this movie is among my BEST TOP 5.

THIS MOVIE SWEET DIE!

Notable Mention:

1.) The Irishman 2019 - 8.5/10

—-

I am not happy tonight because I lost someone (who is not a family member) that once touched my life in a positive way, and funnily enough, I have been moody all day.

I bought a bottle of beer, it took me almost an hour to finish it.

I tried watching a movie, I just couldn’t concentrate.

Now, I am just lying down on my bed, fiddling with my phone, hoping sleep will come soonest.

Anyways, goodnight!

Foreign Affairs / Re: US False Flag Attack On Red Sea Merchant Vessel Backfires by Saturnalia(m): 6:04am On Dec 25, 2023
The United Snakes of Taliban is known as the empire of False Flags and can never EVER be trusted in anything.

1.) Vietnam War (Gulf of Tonkin Incident) - 1964

The National Security Agency admitted it lied about what really happened in the Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964 by manipulating data to make it look like North Vietnamese boats fired on a U.S. ship so as to create a false justification for the Vietnam War.

2.) Bombing of Libya - 1984

A Mossad agent admitted that, in 1984, they had planted a radio transmitter in Gaddaffi’s compound in Tripoli, Libya, which broadcast fake terrorist trasmissions in order to frame Gaddaffi as a terrorist supporter. Ronald Reagan bombed Libya immediately thereafter.

3.) Desert Storm - 1991.

Saddam Hussein asked for permission from the U.S. (via their ambassador, April Glaspie) to attack Kuwait, which had been asked by the U.S. to put pressure on Saddam to pay back money lent to fight against Iran. Kuwait was also illegally siphoning off oil from Iraqi fields. Saddam was told by Glaspie that the U.S. does not care about Arab quarrels. That was a trap, and after Saddam occupied Kuwait, George Bush Snr mobilised a coalition of some 40 nations to "liberate Kuwait" and to smash the recently-built Iraqi military power base. This also involved a media hoax, where the daughter of Kuwaiti U.S. ambassador played nurse on TV and testified to "witnessing" Iraqi soldiers throwing babies out of incubators in Kuwait.

4.) Enduring Freedom - 2001

Without any evidence, the former CIA-asset, Saudi Arabian Osama bin Laden, was claimed to be the mastermind behind the 9/11 strikes at the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. The leaders of Afghanistan were willing to hand over Osama for trial to a neutral nation, but the U.S. refused this compromise.

5.) Enduring Justice - 2003

The claimed reason of the attack was that Iraq was a clear and present danger to the U.S., with WMD's available within less than an hour after the decision to assemble them had been made.

The only people that needed to stand by him are his doctors and family members.

The above mentality is exactly how Nigerians reduce state functions to a family business.
Government is bigger than individual interest and the state must function at all times, when you are incapacitated, you step aside and take care of yourself without being told.
How is the deputy governor a snake for scheming according to you to take over a position that is rightly his according to what the constitution prescribes.

Rather than blame Akeredolu and whoever that is pushing him that almost grounded the state, typical Nigerians are blaming deputy governor for whatever reason.
For anything, Akeredolu is the snake, a lawyer that preached one thing but is doing otherwise now.

You can eulogize Akeredolu for some of his past deeds just like you rightly did with his stand against Fulanis but don't elevate personal problem to a state problem. Falling sick as a human being is a personal problem, take care of it as much as possible and allow other people to do the job that you can no longer do. The deputy governor is a politician and he couldn't have been over ambitious to desire an office that is rightly his as prescribed by the constitution under the current circumstances.

Yes, he was in Germany with his family members and being nusrsed by competent Doctors while his over-ambitious deputy was busy inducing his State Assembly members with monetary gains to declare him incapacitated & unfit to Govern the State.

Why not be patient and let the Universal Laws take its course? I am sure Aketi would have even supported him to succeed him if he was a loyal & virtuous personality.

This Aiyedatiwa is an over-ambitious snake and will meet his Waterloo sooner than expected.

We all know how politics work in Nigeria. Whenever the Government or any parastatal issues a rebuttal, refuting any statement - it simply means the statement or story is true.

Your principal was sick and you were busy scheming to take his place rather than standing by him in his vulnerable moments.

History is littered with the corpses of over ambitious & impatient snakes who usurped the authority of their masters.

There is a spiritual law that supersedes the man-made constitution of any Government.

I love & respect Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu regardless of the accusations of his enemies & detractors.

When it mattered most, Akeredolu was the only Governor in the Southwest that stood up and spoke against the menace of the Fulani Herdsmen and thwarted their proposed RUGA (Rural Grazing Area) policy - with the creation of Amotekun.

For that singular act, the Lord Almighty will heal him and restore him back to his throne.

Politics / Re: Fuel Price: Reject World bank's ₦‎750/Litre Proposal, NLC Warns FG by Saturnalia(m): 5:33am On Dec 15, 2023
The World Bank and the IMF have never meant well for any Afrikan Country.

It’s this same World Bank, during the Buhari administration, that kept on hammering that fuel subsidy must be removed when they know there’s no concrete substitute (e.g refinery not working) to cushion its effects on the masses.

IMF on the other does nothing but give stupid & nonsensical advice to policy makers in Afrikan Countries on monetary tightening like increasing taxes and devaluation of their currencies - when they already know the effects on the already beaten & battered citizenry.

Tinubu took their advice without making due consultations and that’s why he’s back to square one (secretly paying fuel subsidy to the oil cabals) to stabilize the already destroyed economy.

If he likes, he should take their stupid advice again by increasing fuel to 750/litre so that the hungry masses can begin to hunt down his family & cabinet members like kangaroos in the wild for food.

It’s a no brainer. As bad & dumb as Buhari was, he knew better not to fall into their traps.

These two organizations (World Bank & IMF) were set up by the slave masters to impoverish Afrikan Countries and keep them on their leash forever.

Oloriburuku ni gbogbo won - including all the brain dead Afrikan policy makers that take their advice.

My 2023 Top 10 Worst Flicks

2023 was supposed to be the year when Hollywood completely rebounded off the effects of the COVID pandemic slow down and we were supposed to be served some serious "heat" in terms of movies, but due to some unforseen circumstances, there were so many "gbà" movies, i had the displeasure of seeing, that i just had to make this list.

NB: This list is highly subjective as per my own personal view and the "worse" is highly contextualize. Some aren't "bad, bad", i just had high expectations and they were cruelly dashed.

10) Talk to Me (2023)

I was full of hope for this seeing that it was an A24 prod. With a not so fresh idea, the premise was actually good but the execution was terrible and they lost me, midway

9) The Flash (2023).
Worse time to be a superhero movie + clunky CGI + moot plot. The excessive fan service wasn't enough for it to warrant any kind of replay value. I saw it once and i never looked back.

8 Expend4bles (2023).
I saw the need for part 1, but how the hell the they stretch this to 2,3 and let alone 4??. They should retire the franchise and the actors too should hang it for good. A truly terrible motion picture.

7) Fast X (2023).
The allure of "Family" couldn't save this. Again another franchise that should be put out of service for good as this hasn't being a proper flick since Fast 5. I will be there for Fast 11 tho, can't let my man, Dom, go hungry 😏.

6) Heart of Stone (2023).
Nothing much to say about this classic dumpster fire. It was just bad from, script to delivery. You want to do Mission Impossible on a budget and Gal Gadot is who you call? Funny enough, her pretty tax was the only little light about the flick so i will be seated for her next flick 👀.

5) 65 (2023). Adam driver is too talented for the kind of bottom barrel flicks he is involved in, i mean, he has had more misses than hits. If your expectations are low, than this was just another regular sci fi flick but annoyingly, my expectations were high af!

4) Freelance (2023). 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️...If you don't see John Cena in a "Peacemaker" costume, just run. terrible terrible film 😭😭.

3) Ghosted (2023). Post MCU Chris Evans is a sore for a fine sight 😭. This movie was totally crap. him and his co-lead Ana de Amas seemed as if they weren't on the same set, absolutely zero chemistry and a total epic fail of a flick.

2) Knights of Zodiac (2023). If you jam this flick anywhere, just run 😭😭. A near perfect 0/10 flick. Truly "remarkable".

1) Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). Superhero Fatigue aside. This movie was supposed to herald the next Avenger sequence and have like a "Thanos" like intro for the next MCU main villain but man it was a total misfire, the plot was haphazard, worse still the CGI was so cringe that i had to question if they were serious or i was seeing a parody. I was almost moved to tears, and people around me thought i was feeling the movie on another level not knowing it was my hard earned funds i had just wasted on this crap that had my eyes watery 😭. The absolute worst flick i saw in 2023.

I have a strong feeling if i have waited till next week at least to make this list, "The Marvel" would have made the cut. MCU serving burnt food with reckless abandon and they need to be stopped 😭😭.

Now whilst 2023 served up many stinkers, with some not even making this list, They were also some gems, and i do hope i am able to curate that list too.

But for now, on to 2024 and hoping there are more bangers than gbá bottom barrel flicks that exist only to waste our time, data and hard earned funds...🍻🥂

Fast X and Ghosted are the only movies I saw in your list. I hated Fast X and deleted it instantly but I enjoyed Ghosted because of Adrien Brody. His accent killed me.

“This is my town. Nothing happens here that I don’t see coming a mile away - Gunshot! Everything but that I guess! grin

I’m the best bounty hunter alive - Gunshots!

He meant second best. They call me the Leopard - Cracking!

But even Leopards get killed by Lions, Hyenas, Lightning.” grin

I agree that the movie is average at best but I like it and I’m keeping it.

I love Nicolas Cage because he’s one of the best of the best.

I came across Nick Cage when I watched “The Rock - 1996”. I was in Senior Secondary School then and didn’t understand much of the plot (without the subtitle) until I watched it again in 1999.

I then watched “Con Air - 1997” and “Face Off - 1997” around year 2000.

I have been hunting for his movies ever since.

Tonight, I recommend the following best flicks of Nick Cage that I have been privileged to savour for your viewing pleasures.

1.) The Rock - 1996 8.5/10.

This movie was directed by Michael Bay and it’s simply one of the best flicks that I cherish in my archive. Ed Harris and Sean Connery made me love this movie.

The opening sequence where Ed Harris said:

“Congressman Weaver and the esteemed members of the Special Armed Services Committee, I come before you to protest a grave injustice.” is always killing me.

Another place I love so much was where Sean Connery said:

“I’ve been in jail longer than Nelson Mandela, so maybe you want me to run for President.”

This movie sweet die!

2.) Face Off - 1997 9/10.

Goddamnit! This movie sweet die! Directed by the master himself “John Woo” I just can’t seem to get enough of this movie inspite of the fact that it’s an old movie.

John Traviata was a bad ass motherfvcker and he totally killed this movie.

3.) Gone in 60 Seconds - 2000 7/10

This movie is not exceptionally good but it’s very entertaining.

4.) Lord of War - 2005 9.5/10

Ladies and gentlemen, this is my all time best flick of Nick Cage.

I can assure you that this movie tripple sweet die! grin

Notable Mentions:

1.) National Treasure: Book of Secrets - 2007 7/10

2.) Kick Ass - 2010 8/10.

Enjoy!

Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)......8.5/10

This movie is pretty good. Apparently it's based off a non-fiction book. The acting was really solid too.

However my first question is: How in the world did this movie cost $200m to produce?

I saw absolutely nothing in this movie that should cost $200m. The sets were good but nothing special...same as the costumes...
Sometimes it feels like there is some money laundering going on

Secondly, this movie is too dàmn long.
The story is good, but there is no intrigue or anything that keeps you necessary focused for 3 hours 28 minutes at a sitting.

This movie would have hell to watch in a cinema...even as good as it is.
At least Avatar 2 had some spectacular beautiful visuals to keep you invested and even had action sequences...

No way I would pay to watch this for about 4 hours in a sitting at the cinema...it took me over 4 sittings to complete this movie at home...it was never ending

Honestly, I know they had a lot of story to tell and they didn't wanna rush the character relationships...but they should have still found a way to cut down some runtime.

Anyway, definitely worth watching. Leonardo DiCaprio didn't disappoint with his acting

Martin Scorsese fall my hand big time. Killers of the Flower Moon has the same theme & pattern with Goodfellas - 1990.

Dine with the devil, go with the flow due to the repercussions in case you try anything funny and then when the heat is turned up on you, capitulate and sell out your accomplices to the authorities just to save your ass.

But Goodfellas is much more entertaining and beautifully captured.

Even 50 Cent said in Many Men:

“I'm like Paulie in Goodfellas, you can call me the Don”

That film sweet gidi gan!

I didn’t see any special VFX or costumes in the Killers of the Flower Moon that would have justified the ridiculous $200M budget.

It’s just another overhyped movie by the Hollywood dickheads to show love to Martin Scorsese for his tremendous works over the decades.

My ratings for the “Killers of the Flower Moon” remains 3/10 while Goodfellas is 9/10.

I meant no offense BTW.

Trash. Dont waste your data. They are all liars on this thread

I won’t judge you because I don’t judge people.

It is understandable that some people’s brain are wired to only assimilate Nollywood & Bollywood movies, and when such people watch classic Hollywood masterpieces, their brains would never comprehend a single thing.

For example, 2004 was the last time I watched any Nollywood movie (both English & Yoruba) because their plots & themes are so similar, watery & predictable.

Another example, Nollywood movies would be playing Buga by Kizz Daniels or Davido’s Away not because those music go with the senseless story they are telling but because those songs are currently trending all over the Country.

Bollywood movies on the other hand would produce a movie with a run time of 3hours and spend half of that time to be singing & dancing to incomprehensible songs.

While I admit that I still have “3 idiots” and “RRR” in my archive, I can never add any Nollywood movie into my library even if it is produced & directed by Steven Spielberg or James Cameron - because 97% of their movies are ALWAYS centered on Cultism, Prostitution, Armed Robbery, Money Ritual & Clubbing.

Although, there have been countless instances where some highly overhyped movies turn out to be complete disappointments but calling every commenter on this thread a liar is insulting.

One man’s meat is another man’s poison. Drop your ratings on movies in this thread and move on.

BTW, Oppenheimer is a masterpiece. The film sweet die! grin

There are a lot of actors that I consider as my favorites and I pay utmost attention when watching any movie that features any of these brilliant actors.

These actors, in no particular order, are Tom Cruise, Matt Damon, Mark Warlberg, Ben Affleck, Robert Deniro, Al Pacino, Jason Statham, Vin Diesel (until now), Nicholas Cage, Clive Owen, Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.

Sincerely, some of these actors have let me down with many of their recent movies, but I still hold them in high regards.

Tonight, my focus is Jason Statham.

Jason Statham is a stunning actor with amazing skills that will always keep you glued to your screen.

I first came across this brilliant actor around 2003 when I watched “The Transporter - 2002”. I have been hunting for his movies ever since.

I later watched “The Bank Job - 2008” and “The Mechanic - 2011” and I was very impressed.

One of his movies that let me down was “Operation Fortune - 2023”. I had so much expectation for this movie after watching its trailer but I couldn’t delete it from my archive because of Hugh Grant’s performance.

Another movie that left me less than impressed with Statham’s work was the recent “Meg 2: The Trench”. I love its prequel “The Meg - 2018” but unfortunately, the fire that kept me hungry for more was missing in the second part, which made me delete it.

Nonetheless, In honour of this English martial artist that I respect so much, I recommend the following movies for your viewing pleasures.

1.) Killer Elite 2011 - 8.5/10.

This is one of my best action movies of all time that I thoroughly enjoyed, featuring 3 of my favorite actors.

2.) Parker 2013 - 9/10.

Jennifer Lopez’s comic relief made me love this movie.

3.) Mechanic: Resurrection 2016 - 8.5/10

Only a handful of actresses can match my love & respect for Jessica Alba. If no be condition wey make cray fish bend, na this kind woman I suppose marry. Even if she get any ugly character, I no go mind at all. I love this babe die!

4.) Wrath of Man 2021 - 9/10.

I am always fascinated by any movie that has a theme of vengeance. This movie reminds me of Sho Kosugi’s quote in Ninja Assassin - 2009 (Another great movie that I love). “Weakness compels strength. Betrayal begets blood. This is the law of the nine clans”.

Notable Mentions:

1.) Wild Card 2015 - 8/10. This is another movie that I thoroughly enjoyed.

2.) The Bee Keeper 2024 - Seeing the trailer of this movie, I am already jacked to the teeth in anticipation of the release of this masterpiece.
