My colleagues are here asking me why I am using my phone and laughing. Me oh, I didn't answer, no be me tell them not to be on this thread of great people. |
keni:I actually laughed. Abeg don't be angry joor. Life is not that complicated. If not for Nigeria wahala no body would really want to leave. It is well oh!!!!!. Have a very great and happy day. |
@ Canadianfly, you sound just like my brother, abeg are you a man or woman. That guy can fight for Africa but has a very good heart. I love him die though we are currently quarrelling, he nearly insulted my guts off me. So I believe you are my brother or we will be very great friends from here on. Thanks dear, you know malaria can make someone mis yarn. Pray forgive me, I will soon make a very very very intelligent post. ![]() |
Abeg overlook my typos and all the comma I no put. I am in the office and pretending ( with a very public servants straight jacket look) to be finding the cure for Nigeria. ![]() |

Hello house, I have been a silent follower of this thread because my relocation plans are still in process. I will be coming in as a PhD student in September. I hope to come with my children leaving the Don himself behind. He plans to come visiting as often as he can. Why am I giving this unsolicited narrative, I for one currently cannot see myself leaving in Canada all my days. Nigeria has to be rebuilt, if we all permanently relocate, how do we wish to make Nigeria a better place? However there are those who their permanent relocation also contributes to making Nigeria better. How you may ask, when you help that family member start a business back home you might just be creating jobs for a few people. When you make investment back home you contribute to the economy. My husband is on his early 40s has put in so much from ground zero to build a structure for himself. Viola, things are finally shaping up, would such a person be estatic to leave his firm, investments and start from ground zero in Canada, of course not. Does it make him less of a man or family leader , no. I have chosen to respect his position, talked him into letting the children go with me and gotten him to the point he has agreed to spend at least 5months each year with us. @ maternal your points might be valid but there are many ways to say the same thing. Always consider the next person's feeling, I have learnt this over time because like you I was naturally wired to be blunt. Am I 100% there no way but I have chosen to hurt people less after all I stand to gain nothing by doing so. Back to my narrative I might disappoint some people here , I am one of those who after my sojourn (don't know how long) will eventually return to Nigeria, I see our possibilities as a nation and I want to contribute my quota to building a Nigeria we will all be proud of. On a lighter note, in future when I will run for political office all of you will be on my campaign team perhaps then I can cajole some into coming back home. Abeg try not to fight on the internet, it is really not worth it, for one the person doesn't know you, what your ideals , dreams or where you are even coming from or heading to. We are all faceless, I just be like to follow ghost dey fight. I might even be your cousin. @ madam whose husband has yet caught the vision of relocation, try to relax, no vex( this brothers can be obstinate as mules) gather your superior argument and gently , consistently present same in a ver rational manner. Men always follow a superior reasoning even though they will pretend not to listen. Oya, I hope with this few points of mine i have managed to convince you to forget vex and move forward . Ndewo and may we all have a beautiful day. NB just in case i upset anyone pls don't insult me oh! I will not answer, i have malaria and i am here dreading how to start those awful malaria drugs. |
Nyinyez7:Hello dear, from what I have observed here is this. Your infant with US citizenship doesn't need a visa. Just mention that you will be going with her in your SOP, state the arrangement for child care and show enough funds. Wishing you the very best. NB send a PM to Nogen. You will find her quite helpful. |
maziude:I maintain that you are such a kind person. Thank you so much. Pls I have not been able to understand how this PM works, can you please establish contact on 05saucepan@gmail.com , thank you once again. Stay blessed. |
@ Maziude, i believe You had a great semester. Pls I need a little help. I have applied to University of Ottawa for PhD International Development and all my documents have been sent. However, the school is yet to acknowledge receipt of my undergraduate transcript though I have proof of delivery. Pls, would it be too much if I can ask you to check in on the faculty of Social Sciences grad school for a follow up? I would be most grateful if you can but pls don't feel pressured as I know you have just resumed. Have a very wonderful day and a successful semester ahead. Cheers. |
McOsheBaba:Congratulations! so pls what did you do different from Ist application so that others can learn and avoid error. Thank you and congratulations again. |
Alikote:O di kwa egwu. Pls how much do you think the President and his Vice who are the highest paid civil servant earn. You are so "informed" in a very weird way. Like I said don't believe everything you are told. Even if a Civil servant earns as you said there are some sums we are not ideally expected to have cause we are meant to have expenses. My brother ideally civil service should not make one a millionaire rather the corruption in civil service is what produces millionaire s. The simple truth is that we have our values twisted as a nation if not this argument that has gone on for so long wouldn't have. Not all of us want to be multi millionaires. I am not doing badly in Nigeria but I don't understand the need for all my struggles to pay school fees etc. So if someone like me travels out to a mote organized society where there is less hustle and strife people like you might call me a failure. At the end we all want different things out of life. So my brother to each his own. By the way I believe completely in Nigeria no matter how rich I am in another mans country I will always have limitations but here at home I have all possibilities. I can even aspire to be President. Instead of this back and forth argument which achieves nothing concrete in the end why don't you talk about opportunities our young people can tap into. As of 2010 NBS gave official statistics of those living below 1 dollar a day as 61%. There is extreme poverty in the land. The wealth circulates in the hands of a few. We the younger generation should be more interested in how to create a better Nigeria for the people coming behind. I have lived in Nigeria all along and intend to. I know my EXTREME struggles before I started finding my feet. I am a graduate of 17yrs you wouldn't want me to list all I have done all these years to survive, if the country had offered a little help like easier access to loans, lower interest rates my journey would have been less rigorous and shorter. So the question is. Do you accept the harsh realities of Nigeria: Our triumphs and our CHALLENGES..if yes what do you want to do in your own space to create a better Nigeria. You can use your knowledge and energy to start a mentoring group for young Nigerians telling them of the opportunities open for them and how to utilize them. Trust me that will be a most effective way to stop them from travelling to "America". I personally think this argument has gone on for too long, now there is a fellowership, quickly turn it into something positive like I illustrated above and posterity will thank you for it. My two kobo advice. Pls don't insult me oh! I don't do cyber war. Have a great day people. |
Alikote:Just for your info. A Federal civil servant in Nigeria is entitled to 2yrs maximum PAID study leave, any course longer than 2yrs is without pay though you are entitled to your promotions. First rule in Nigeria, don't be quick to believe everything people say. And how on earth does a Civil servant justly have 120,000 dollars. He must have "other sources". Abeg try not to drag me into the argument, just volunteering verifiable information. Thank you. |
nifeicon:I think during your work permit post graduation you can apply for permanent residency. Pls research on that. Wish you the very best. |
donniemc:I have been following. I live in Abuja, can I reach you for consultation by same date. About to open a dom account, believe I will be ready by that date. Thank you. |
Congratulations! The appointed time for the vision has come. To God be the glory. |
SimmsK:It is advisable to write a brief friendly introductory letter to a potential supervisor who you have confirmed that has similar research interests that you do. Explain that you have met the basic requirement. Talk very briefly on your research stating the need for this research and how you think he fits. Finally enquire if he is accepting graduate students and if so if he can get in touch with you. He will most likely reply asking for research proposal, and perhaps a CV. Your research proposal should not be above 5 pages if possible. Let your passion for your chosen research field show genuinely. |
Thank you Austinpee4,HiredGames and Tunba28. God bless. |

Congratulations to all those that have gotten approvals, to those delayed remember it shall end in praise. |
Nogen:Congratulations . It is ending in praise. |
If this is genuine let her go to Wuse market drive to the back, there are warehouses there. Let her ask for Fortune Ltd. They are major distributors of every every. With regards to food stuff let her go to Karimo or Orang market in mararaba. |
rentAcock:This is exactly how people make parallel F9 in WAEC. You just succeded in telling an entirely different story. Kudos. Next time don't be in a hurry to sound very smart. READ . |
Congratulations to all that have gotten their approval. To those delayed pls keep faith and reapply. God is indeed faithful. |
McOsheBaba:go to garki old market. Ask the guys selling fairly used clothes. You will meet other students and travellers there. |
amii131:He intends to visit often but not to settle. You know when you are younger, you have all your options open. For instance you can work odd jobs etc for a start. You have less responsibilities but as one grows your responsibility to yourself , your family, community, church etc increases, so yes odd as it may seem he has no intention to resart his life in his 40s. But on a very light note, I didn't get the USA joke. Abeg some of us don dey approach middle age and can't quite catch some of this stuff. So my dear be gracious and explain to me ![]() Cheers dear. |
@ mazi; don't know you but you are an amazing young man. I have I strong feeling I will get to know you better some day as I hope to come to Uottawa God willing. It is just tidier to come alone first and send for them later but then you wonder: what if they are not granted visiting visa will I stay 5yrs as in my case without my children? by the time I come back they would be men on their own terms.... Well at the end of the day one prays for God's guidiance and His will to be done. Mazi once again remain the kind soul you are and you will go places. Cheers |
@Atouba, I am in no way a guru on this stuff, do get the gcms notes as advised. But from my simple perspective I think it might be better for you to forego husbands application for now. He can come on visit later. If the children are below 12yrs make provision for caregiver as children below 12yrs are never to be left alone according to Canadian law. Did you apply for study permit for them? If no try getting admission for them from the district you intend to settle in and apply for their study permits. Get the school district info through google. Get required amount for each individual as requested and write a good SOP. From my simple view a longer course justifies more the need to take kids however consider academic progression and weigh your options. Make google your friend as all I have told you I gathered online. Prepare well before applying ' don't be on a haste. Calm down weigh all options; gather as much information as you can and above all find out the mind of God. Relax; i know no mum ever wants to consider leaving underage children; mine have been on three weeks vacation and I have so worried that I have some extra grey hair to show for it. Remember it will end in praise. Cheers. |
Good day everyone, pls has there been a testimony of anyone that got visa with her children. I have 4 boys and heading for a phd that might take 4/5years. I have every genuine intention to return home in the long run but the truth remains I cannot concentrate if I am alone without my kids. I would worry endlessly. So better option is for husband to remain home in Nigeria as he has no desire to settle abroad and probably come visiting. If this is of any help I am a civil servant and will be on study leave. So the question is; has there been any such approval? If yes pls what is the link so we can all learn cos most mothers I believe are in this dilemma. Pls don't ask me to read from thread 1-10 as I have tried doing that but it ain't just easy. Cheers |
that your final exam starts from the very first test you take in your final year. many people have entered university with the secondary school mentality that there is a final exam somewhere that will determine their grade. Truth is you determine your grade in university from your very first semester, nothing like final exam technically speaking. |
maziude:i am truly happy for you. It will truly end in praise. |
