Ahhhh!!!!! This shows you definitely don't know anything about Ohafia, we don't rely on government for development, we have a very organized age grade system that ensures development of the community, every 4 yrs, an age grade hands over a development project to the community. Schools, hospitals, town halls, pension sub treasuries, libraries, roads, name them. Do yourself a favor and visit Ohafia if you have never or simply Google the most beautiful villages in Nigeria, Ohafia is top on the list. Kaa. quote author=Officialgarri post=91482028]And what is his offense please? The same man alleviated some Ohafia youths by giving them bikes but now they are accusing him of flouting covid-19 guidelines. Little wonder why the village refused to develop. The police station given to them was burnt some months back
|

A friend's wedding, she hired police band to play live music. Police band came with a generator that was used by Lord Lugard. Gen no fit start. That is how all of us turned to musicians. We were clapping, singing on top of our voices for the couple to dance in. Worst part is that we couldn't beat the Police band. In fact, they insisted on full payment before wedding. 8 Likes |

So, I had this hairdresser who was into rentals. In the process of renting, she revealed she was into catering; that she had a group of friends that they go out together to cook as a team(agoyin). Her price was 3k (mind you this was 17yrs ago) as against the 40k one sophisticated designer caterer asked for. The Igbo sense in me quickly got to work, asked our gateman who was quite young to mobilize his friends to wear white shirt and black trousers and come as servers. Asked my sister in Lagos to rent buffet dishes ( this was quite new as at that time) and bring them to Abj, engaged the 3k caterer and felt good with myself. Everything was going on well till night before, caterer did not show, came later to fry meat and left that she will return in the morning with her crew. Fast forward to morning, 6am,7am, 8am no caterer. Sent people to get her but she still wouldn't come. She comes by to 9 and tells how she went for night vigil and on her return home her husband refused she will go out again ☹️. Oya, leave story, just start cooking. Church event finishes, we get to the reception. See the display of beautiful silver dishes and servers in black and white on a well tended lawn, I was proud of myself for getting the best with shinkini money until someone came to return my house key. I then asked where he got it, he said my mum gave him since morning. Then was when alarm blew. Oya, quickly go and check if everything in the house was brought to the venue before the locked it. He returns later, says everything is here at the venue except for the food. That caterer was not yet ready. So while we were all happy and gay, the buffet dishes were empty. Long story short, I cried a few tears before food finally arrived. The irony is that, I had people making enquiry about the food, caterer, servers. To them it was a beautiful wedding but for me it was quite eventful. To make it worse was that I would have loved a very simple, low key, wedding but husband pipu no gree. Today, I have 4 sons with the first in the university, so it is all well that ends well. 17 Likes 1 Share |

Family / Re: I'm Worried About My Son's Behaviour. Is He Normal? by saucepan: 8:48am On Aug 21, 2019 |
Your son is okay. He is a high achiever. Why not try positive reinforcement. Reward good behavior, thereby you focus less on his weakness and more on his strength. I think he just has an overactive mind that wanders and wonders. And also know that he deliberately does some of what he is doing to get your attention.. So ask yourself, am I giving him enough one on one time? If you are, then try to ignore some of his antics. Trust me, I have 4 boys and I know most times , their antics are deliberate just to get a rise out of you. So play the game, don't always give the expected response. Finally, make him feel responsible, by enlisting him as your PA to run the home, talk to him and tell him you need him on board with his intelligence to make a team. Finally, finally, take a deep breath and chill out. Nothing spoil. Most times as mothers we get worked up over nothing much. This is a phase. It will pass too. Take care. |

Ivan12: Hello dear, I believe you are quite young and it's okay to be a bit confused at times, at least you are interested in doing things right as against most of your peers who would have rushed through everything. Your answer above is part of the reason you are going for the course. Tell them why you have chosen to go for undergraduate studies in canada( check out ranking of the course and university you hope to attend after this Grade 12 course) , cite incessant strikes if necessary and finally that this course will help you to adjust better in undergraduate studies( it is a bridging course) as your siblings have followed same part and are doing remarkably well. Wishing you the very best. 7 Likes |

Fusion23: One of the areas I am strongly considering is Nepean and Hunt Club as maternal recently suggested. Hunt Club sounds very interesting as my children are all very serious golfers ( in fact on some good days they decide they want to be pro golfers) don't know if I will be able to afford golfing for them over there but where there is a will there is a way ( even if it is for them to work as caddies). Kanata I hear far oh! No plans of buying a car immediately oh! The rents are quite pricey too. Gatineau from my little research is good for a young family ( as your children will not have problem with French, in fact, a second language is an advantage for pre school kids). So please were your goose bumps the good or bad ones with regards to Nepean and Hunts Club? Thank you so much for all your assistance. 1 Like 1 Share |
I'd look at places in the hunt club area. Decent neighbourhood and there's a major transit hub by south keys. You can get to Ottawa u by bus in 20 min. Stay away from Sandy hill as there are too many students living there. As for your son as long as he's mature there shouldn't be an issue. But if an issue occurs you may be held responsible.[/quot Thank you. Lemme come and google hunt club area cause it just sounds very abstract now . When I finally get to Settle in Canada, I will probably get nominated for a noble peace prize in google research. . Thank you so much for taking out time to put me through. God bless. |

@ aZedi Pls I noticed you are in Ottawa. Though I have asked this before here, pls where can you advise a family ( teenagers and children inclusive) to settle in Ottawa considering schools, cost and most importantly safe neighbourhood. Pls I naturally like very quiet places ( I am not the happening place type). Will be attending Uottawa in Sandy hill, though I don't mind a reasonable commute. Lastly, what is the child law in that area like? Can my 14yrs ( one month away from 15yrs) old son mind his brothers for a short while; like from the time the come home from school to when I get back from school. Pls this is to enable me make good arrangement before applying for study permit. Abeg any other person with advice can contribute especially with regards to the child care part. Have to get my acts together as children are involved. Thank you and may God bless you all. 1 Like |

czaratwork: Okay, maziude is your best bet for the one studying computer science but he has been off radar for some time. Let him google, scholarship for phd in computer science in Canada. I always advise PhD students to search for scholarships as there are quite a good number available. The window for fall admissions will soon close. Let them quickly start the research. The advise to mention the supervisor's previous works is very important and also why you think he is your choice of a supervisor. |

AZeD1: Thank you. I also read somewhere that children of immigrants are expected to attend French schools. Considering the age and grade of my older children such a change would be drastic. I am also considering Nepean. Pls which do you think might be easier in the long run considering all factors with cost inclusive but not the major determining factor. I have to decide soon, so I can reach out to the school boards for their admissions. Gracia. |

Good day. Please I want to know if to live in Gatineau while schooling in Ottawa I will need any form of permit considering my children will be attending school in Gatineau. Rents look cheaper in Gatineau with finer houses and compounds and I learnt it is just a 15mins trip to Ottawa but the snag is that it is in Quebec, which is a plus as I intend to study French during my studies. So my question is do I need a permit to cover my children who will attend School there? Thank you in advance. |

salford1: Sorry to reply late. Just to add to all that has been said. Choose a very relevant and interesting topic, develop a research proposal. First letter of contact should be a polite letter of introduction , introduce yourself, mention your research interest, mention you have met basic requirements which in most instances is a minimum of second class upper for both undergraduate and masters, finally ask if he is accepting graduate students and if so can he contact you as you want to work with him. Hoping he replies( being that you sounded poilte and all , he will likely reply at least not to be rude). At this stage he asks for a proposal and any other documents he deems necessary. Reply by sending the documents. All mails should be brief and polite not solicitous. Let them do their homework well, check out google. Some kind professors have websites where they have put up guides for securing supervisors. Pray for God's direction to the right person. One day soon I will share my grad school admission experience ( testimony) I wish your friends the best. Meanwhile what is their field of study. As already noted, refer them to the student thread, advise them to read at least from the previous 2 threads then ask any question if confused. 3 Likes 1 Share |
