Turns out, we’re pretty bad at sticking to our new year goals, with most of us abandoning our efforts to change before we’ve even taken down the holiday decorations.
Naturally, we don’t want to be in the camp of folks that fail to achieve their aspirations and dreams, so I have put together few tips to follow through on your resolution.

Happy reading

Be Purposeful
The biggest mistake most people make is setting a goal on something they feel they should be doing instead of something they really want to do. They simply forget to look at their own values before goal setting.
Values are the underlying units of the things we do in our life and they are by definition never finished. It is important that you take time to reflect on what is important in your life and endeavour to put words to these main categories.
Failure to reflect on what is important to you will lead to arbitrary goals resulting to wane determination and wasted effort. Therefore, you are advised to start by identifying your values.

Strategize Well
Not much can without a plan. After establishing the right kind of goals based on your values, develop strategies to help you accomplish them.
Without specific strategies, it’s unlikely that change will occur because we are all creatures of habit. However, once you create a game plan, you will be more likely to shift your behaviour.

Know Your Environment
Construct and follow your own regimen, but don’t rely on willpower alone to change your behaviour over the long term. Often time, people will have great ideas about how they can change their life, and all of that excitement might help the person achieve their goals at first. However, as time goes on people return to their day-to-day routines, which is usually counterproductive to their resolutions.
You can’t control every aspect of your environment, but planning ahead for situations that could potentially derail your goals can keep you on track.

Think Small and Reward Yourself
Sometimes, the overwhelming stigma of a New Year’s Resolution carries with it the pressure of change. Try working toward small wins before tackling larger goals.
Want to be healthier? Instead of making a goal to hit the gym for an hour every day, start by taking walks three times a week. Once you master this, move toward a bigger goal.
Your confidence in establishing a new identity will reinforce your behaviour and provide motivation for further change.

Measure Your Progress
Without a figurative (or literal) yardstick to measure your results, your actions will have little meaning.
You can measure goals is many different ways. Some people do best with a simple list, others like to create a calendar with daily tasks to stay on track. A fun way to keep things moving is to use the tried-and-true kindergarten approach of giving yourself a star or smiley face whenever you take a small step toward your ultimate goal.
Keeping conscientious track of your goals also allows you to analyze your values, strategies, and behaviours, and to make adjustments as necessary.

Get the Right Tools for the Job
And whether you’re a traditional pen-and-paper person or glued to your smartphone, there are a multitude of free and low-cost resources available to track your goals. Try creating a vision board or use a traditional goal-setting worksheet. As you measure your results, whether on-screen or on-paper, keep friends and family involved.
Accountability increases your chance of success. Create a support network of people related to goal setting. It is important to have a community of people that you share your goals with. This allows for motivation but also allows for you to learn from other people. The support network can be online or in person.

One thing is certain: once the confetti falls and the ball drops, you’re left to face your New Year’s goals head on.
Follow the above tips and make your 2022 resolutions a reality.

Thanks guys
Thanks for this. It is really eye-opening

Wow. I'm very grateful for the insight. Thank you so much.
Osemigho:
It is easy to get minimum wage job for students. 20 hrs ×$15×4wk = $1200. After tax, you get about $900. Shared room (utilities included) about 500 in Calgary. $300 monthly Food budget is very good. You can also work 40hrs during break. You will ikely survive, not blow, with tuition scholarship that pays all your tuition and the 20hrs work restriction for international student. All the best.

I am not speaking from experience but there's no way $300 a month will be able to sustain you. Your rent alone will be anywhere between 250 and 500 at least depending on province. You still have to eat, transport, pay for utilities, phone bills, miscellaneous.
This really help bro. Thanks so much

I am so cool with this info. Really helpful.
Gracias.
Regarding cost it living in Canada, do u think $300 will sustain me in Canada for a month?
Better still, how much is your monthly expenses in Canada in term of food, accommodation, transportation, data, electricity and water?

Ketima:
Hello Sayittome,

I can see you're so much concerned about getting a job and finance once in Canada. In fact, all international applicants worry about that a lot.

Now personally, the way I advise people as I was advised and based and in addition to what PapaObi said. Canada is a country where provinces have their minimum wages. as a student, you're permitted to work 20hrs/week

Now moving to Canada as an international student, please try and have money that can help you pay between three to 4 months of your stay once you get to Canada. The reason is that you will need the first three months to balance and put school stuff in place, get accommodation and all that. mind you getting a job first three months isn't that easy as a newcomer who doesn't know around yet. but that doesn't mean you cant oo. a lot has gotten it so you can if you try.

Then as per making money, for example, a student in Saskatchewan works 20hr/week(Minimum wage). so d the calculation and know the least amount to make in a month. then considering your living expenses lifestyle, you do the rest of the maths.

on a lighter note. try pack enough foodstuffs that can last long for you ooo lol

(20x11.81)4 = 944.8/month

Let's say he gets the visa, any idea what he needs to do or what other requirements he need to meet?
Does he need to do medicals or provide some other documents?
I am asking to know the the financial cost.
Will he need to buy books when he gets there and what is d cost of accomodations in Canada?
Seems you haven't done your research on Canada? There are so much work to the extent they are bringing in migrants to help fill up those works.

I sure say he will be making over 100k(naira) per week, and you know they pay in CAD.

Let him hustle for visa first and Good luck.

Fantastic, he can work 20 hours a week to sustain himself but he needs to show proof of funds to apply for the visa.
Yeah. But his fears are:
1. What is d ease of getting a job?
2. And can he sustain himself from what he will be paid?

I repeat, your family members are not your husband's responsibility even if he paid one naira as your bride price.
