Audrey I: @topic: As incredible as it sounds(and I know this sounds far fetched) but, my daughter will be starting in at Nursery 1 on Monday and she writes 1 - 200 on her own. She's 3. She can also do basic additions, subtractions and can write two and three letter words. Just like your son, she's also been taught basic sentence construction. So your son's school is not over doing it.

While I understand your concerns about your child developing at a reasonable pace, I still feel you should be proud of him and the school, especially if he's recieving a well rounded education that includes mental, physical, social and moral developement.

Truth is, we live in a highly competitive world, and it isn't too early to begin to equip your child with much needed education, especially in this era where most employers operate a policy of 'the younger, the better.'

The OP is talking about over labouring an infant with too many things,the development of an infant is not in addition and subtraction but in playing,when they sing and play their mental balance develops fast.
The private school thing has realy blown this education thing into pieces albeit to the unconcern behaviour of our Government,but some missionary schools are getting us back to the real education.

chronique: One thing is evident in this country. Nigerians are the architect of their own problems and would continue to be so. The rate at which the mass media is being used to malign the president is so bad. If this continues,we'd have a scenario where future leaders would suffer this same fate in the hands of the opposition and this would not augur well for us as a nation. Those doing this already know that a lot of Nigerians aren't usually objective in their analysis of things and seeing how sentimental Nigerians can be,they'd do all to make the president guilty in the court of public opinion. Majority of the people who comment on this Amaechi/GEJ do not live in Rivers state and probably have little idea about the true state of things. The headline of this article is malicious as there's nowhere where it states that Amaechi was prevented from entering the govt house in the body of the article. But already,a lot of pple have found it easy to attribute the cause of the problem to GEJ. The sad part is that the uneducated ones would read this and report it in a different way to their folks,thereby,causing unnecessary hatred for the president.
