Gazprom, Russian gas giant is looking to expanding it gas pipeline to supply Europe gas. The expansion is aggressive and is set to be completed by the end of next year. So look out for Gazprom symbol on the stock market.

LSE set to change their name to represent it conglomerate nature of business after talks yesterday in Brussels on the take over of some FSE and other European powerful stock market.

It is rumored that it would cost them £1.4 billion, so watch out for this stock.

@otokx

You know stock and shares is another form of gambling. In fact you make money on the stock because some one is not well informed like you. If a company is making billions doest mean that there shares will go up.

I have seen companies quoted on the stock market making billions but their stock continues to fall for 10 years. The brain behind stock is to know if people are buying the stock. Your job is to gamble or strategies if the company will have a down turn or up turn, then if people are buying and you look at the stochastic and volume over buy momentum the best thing to do is sell.

Base on this, I regard stock, bonds, shares and many business that yield 120% in a year to be a form of gamble. Hence, in the gamble world exist a slogan, Never gamble money you cannot afford to loose

I just happened to find this thread. I have read few of the post so pardon me if I forego to acquaint myself more information before posting.

I believe the original author has good heart and business acumen. It is a shame that crime and fraud has reduced the image of a sound minded Nigerian business intellectual.

Being philosophical, life is a risk. Who told you that tomorrow morning will dawn? Yet you believe it will dawn that nuclear catastrophe is nowhere near the global agenda. Well if you ask me being alive is the most riskiest business, no wonder we have life insurance/assurance.

If you like you can take a rain cheque from any investment opportunity that comes your way. Who had imagined Microsoft would be software giant? People that initially invested $1000 when MS release it first IPO back in the 90's are all millionaires today.

If you follow my post in this forum you'd quickly noticed that I blog mostly in IT section. I have completely left IT. I have gone into another field of study and business.

I work for a private equity company that has as little as £400,000 fund from mainly venture capitalist. Since I joined the firm I have made them £1.86 million just under 5 months. We have not yet started trading on the stock market yet. The reason is we want to reach a target of £1 billion before we can move into mutual funds and private equity bonds.

We cannot afford to lose this money because the money came from family and friends. Our biggest asset now is real estate.

I will be starting an MBA course this September for 2.5years. part time. The point is the idea of the original author is sound.

The problem is transparency and accountability. If we have good minded people like me and the rest, we don't need 5000 people. 10 good people with business and finance background preferable from a degree point and work experience who are ready to invest N1,000,000. I will resign my job and come back home and we can start this business. 10 of us will be the management team.

First thing we do is open a company; I know what we can do. I have a very serious product, it is in IT and health sector.  We open this company and we will be the board of directors. Under space of 6 months with aggressive marketing strategy and lots of M&A(Merger & Acquisition) and BO (Buy-Out) we will become a group companies in little time.

Now, we can come back to this forum to capitalize fund like say $1, 000, 000, 000 and put that money into government bond for 10 years note with back interest of say 6% that is $60 000 000 per month on returns with our capital intact with compound interest after 10 years.

The list of investment is enormous. If you are interested in capitalising 10,000, 000 give me a call and we can arrange a conference in London or Nigeria to discuss this rare business opportunity.

Don't let people discourage you in life. One business slogan though says, Never invest money that you cannot afford to lose

Phones / Re: Call The Whole World For Free by sbucareer(f): 4:06pm On Jun 24, 2007

No, the user must have an account free of charge from any of these VoIP providers, skype, msn, yahoo, Talk google, etc.

Also, they must have a compactable phone to install fring. The phone MUST be wi-fi ready or have internet access from the phone company.

For Wi-Fi ready, I mean the phone must be able to connect to a free hotspot or internet through wireless protocol, hence the phone must have a WLAN/Modem

The fring software connects you to your VoIP provider like Skype, the other person is also connected to Skype through fring. From the fring software you select the person handle i.e. sbucareer and press call, it will call the other person in the case sbucareer because I am signed into skype on my phone through fring it will ring and I would answer it and we can talk endlessly. It does not matter any part of the world you are, as long as all these criteria are meet, you can talk for free.

There is growing popularity of free hotspots. Even in Nigeria, I believe Abuja, there are many free hotspots your phone can connect with a WLAN.

All you need is to sign up for a free VoIP account with many companies like skype, MSN, google etc. Remember that you friend must sign up on the same VoIP as you.

My brother if you have £20,000 please, please, please buy this stock. I have remortgage my house to release some equity and thank God I got about £70K and it all went to this stock. I bought it about $31 per share. I bought 2,258 shares.

If I have to hedge 30% of the share that is 677 shares and sell it at the current index at $35, I wil be making £23, 709 already.

I will hedge another 30% by December then I will break even with my initial investment of $70k. I will leave the remaining 40% for like 5 years with large diversification portfolio.

This is a way to plan for your future. I should not be telling you this information for free. It cost money for this information, but because I love Nairalanders I am providing you with this rear opportunity of investment.

Also, look at Carlyle Group. I think they are private equity company I cannot find their symbol on the listed market.

Anyway, good luck with your stock market.

Phones / Call The Whole World For Free by sbucareer(f): 12:54pm On Jun 23, 2007

I have wondered if members of this forum are aware of the free local, national and international calls. Well, it is not practically free in the sense of; you will need to invest in some hardware and free software and maybe a VoIP provider.

I know most people in Nigeria are aware of VoIP and it usage. There is this new system call HSDPA it is fast approaching and replacing 3G, GPRS, GSM and VoIP.

Make sure when you buy a new mobile phone or laptop or PDA that is comes with HSDPA protocol. The real difference with HSDPA and the rest is that its data rate baud is higher than VoIP, GSM, GPRS and 3G. I think it is between 8/10Mbit/s for WCDMA on a downlink over a 5MHz bandwidth, it is very fast.

I use a Nokia N95 with WLAN enabled. It automatically connects to a Wi-Fi if one is available and unsecured. I use it to surf the internet receive and send email, sometimes I even chat on my MSN until I came across fring

Fring is a free mobile VoIP software that allows you to talk & IM via your handset's internet connection to other mobile phones and PC-based services such as Skype®, Google Talk™, MSN® Messenger, SIP and Twitter, at no extra cost.

To qualify for this fantastic voice call revolution you need a compactable handset and couple of online account with skype, google talk, MSN, or any SIP provider like vonage truphone, twister etc. or any VoIP provider. Most of them offer free PC-PC and Mobile to Mobile. Because your mobile would be acting like a PC.

The last thing you need if you cannot afford a Wireless connection through your mobile phone company is to look out for Hotspots around your area that is unsecured.

I use vonage and I still do not know how to configure the SIP to work with fring. If anyone with information on how to configure vonage with Nokia N95 through fring should let us know.

To make a call to anywhere in the world your friend or recipient must have an online account with any of the skype, MSN, etc. Like the way you add buddy to your IM list and chat to them when they are online. The software is permanently connected to internet, when a call comes in it rings like a normal mobile phone.

The only down fall I see in it is that is consumes mobile battery very quickly. Well the software is in it BETA stage we hope for improvement at later releases.

This is the end of traditional telecommunication system. Telecom and other big Telecommunication network are in for a big surprise.

Also, if you are a stock trader I would suggest looking into fring stock index. I don’t know if they are listed or not but this revolutionary software and company will play a bigger part in future of VoIP and HSDPA.

Also, look into Blackstone Group, the biggest ever private equity company that has now gone public due to all the hype about tax, MBO, asset stripping issues. The ever company to capitalize £4.1 billion on a public fund, hence stock and it is listed in the NYSE. I think the symbol that it is ticking on is NYSE:BX

Their IPO was listed yesterday at $31 per share and it is ticking at $35 per share already. Investment people should look at that index.

China has already bought $1.5 billion into the NYSE:BX of their pension fund. So if you have some money laying around like £20,000 you should invest into this stock. I am not joking.

Remember to do your research. The government are looking into changing the laws of private equity companies that would mean that the private equity companies would have their balance sheet scrutinize by government.

The stock market since this year has been corrected twice, so you have to watch out for market bubbles. But whatever you do don’t forget real estate and investing in farm companies for biofuel generation if any.

Programming / Re: Do Nigerian Banks Have An Api To Their Database. by sbucareer(f): 4:03pm On Jun 16, 2007

I was wondering if it's possible to write a program that can retrieve someone's bank account update from Nigerian banks database.

This was the question asked by the poster. Lets look at the question bit by bit.

1. Is is possible to write a program that can retrieve someone’s bank account?  Yes
2. Can you update from Nigeria banks database? Yes.

Assuming that the bank is sensible enough to protect their customer’s money from thieves, they would not want to provide public access to their databaseor information systems.

Ok, lets say the banks are doing business in 21st century where investment is all about money, acquisition, merger, and competitiveness. They have to device a way to share their information system with third trusted party.

Now, the programmers will create what we call Web service that will use SOAP protocol and probably use a message type, XML to expose their API. These messages may be synchronous or asynchronous it does not matter.

Now, let say you are not a trusted third party, how would you know what web servers they use? Protocol they use? Message type they use?

Even you as an ordinary developer, when you develop your personal site, you would not want someone to nick your photos, images and your special CSS and JS.

Let me iterate, I never said banks can not public their API or it is impossible to publish a banks API, what I said is that it is not possible to publish banks API to the public. If you know of a bank let us know, pls.

Computers / Re: Can't Access My Workgroup Computers by sbucareer(f): 1:17pm On Jun 07, 2007

@ogunsteedo,

If your laptop has a USB buy a wireless dongle and you will be connected to any available network.

If your laptop do not have a USB buy a serial connector for USB and plugin your dongle.

@Tpoic,

To the main topic, there are only two problems I can see here. Either you have exceeded the maximum 10 Pc for a workgroup or the faulty Pc NIC is damage or not connecting. Check the control panel for the NIC, to make sure it is working fine. Ping the other from the faulty Pc and try to ping it from the working ones.

Also, check the physical connection and make sure you have configure the faulty Pc to the same workgroup like others.

Good luck.
Computers / Re: Command Prompt by sbucareer(f): 1:00pm On Jun 07, 2007

Remember that kernel is small routine programs that makes up the big application like windows. Look at it this way, programs are like ear, eyes, nose and mouth together they make up the body.

Window kernel is about 64Kb on version 6.0. It is fairly small routine that were used to build the bigger application i.e. Window 95.

Example of these routines are:

1. Delete (del)
2. Save   ( Mov x to X)
3. Copy (xcopy)
4. Attribute (attri)
5. Memory (mem)
6. Partition disk (fdisk)
7. Check disk (chdisk)

There are lots of these small routine within window. They have options and switches and parameters. Example, to ask the OS (Operating System) to format a floppy disk and tell the OS the file system you want i.e. FAT32, we do

C:/>format a: /FS:FA32

To find out the usage of any routine type in CLI ie. help format

To become guru in writting routine operations, you would need to know a programming language like script programming. Example of script programming are:

1. Shell (.sh)
2. Batch (.that)
3. Window Script Component (.wsc)

These are executable files and can be associated with a window load event/ start up event. All you need to do is edit your autoexec.bat to include these scripts.

In unix, you can configure the shell with, depending on what you want to start, you could put things into the rc.local(*) script or create a separate script in the init.d(*) directory.
Computers / Re: Command Prompt by sbucareer(f): 11:52am On Jun 07, 2007

Any OS you are using or learning to use, just type help/man on the CLI (Command Line Interface) it will surely give you some useful pointer to learning its kernel interaction.

Any software developer MUST provide an electronic manual embedded into the software. If you open any software and do not know how to use it just find the help link or type help if it was a CLI software.

To learn more about the software consult the manual that came with it. Nobody can ever teach you stuff better than yourself. Even at school, teach will need to give you assignment or home work to go and try things yourself.

If you are particular about Windows, there are lots of tutorial online, you can use any search engine of your choice, I prefer Google
Good luck.

Sholatech, thanks for your rich reply and insight. If you are willing we can both share information we have gathered so far. My company can arrange a meeting in London with your group of professionals for 3 days conference, we will pay for the expenses.

We have only two years strategic plan. We are currently on the marketing strategy plan with some group of vendors and mobile manufacturers in UK, USA, and China.

If your consulting firm is willing, we can merge, money and capitalization is the the issue. We have managed to acquire £1.8 Billion and so far we can still raise further £378 million towards the end of this Q3-2007.

You can personally reply me on valentine.obih@ittcg.co.uk

Phones / Re: Telecommunication, Satellite And Wireless Technology In Nigeria by sbucareer(f): 12:07pm On May 25, 2007

Above is a GSM network. By default, a GSM network is the most popular standard for mobile phones communications in the world. To setup a GSM you woul need to do these things.

BSS interfaces

1.Base Transceiver Station
2 Base Station Controller
3 Packet Control Unit

The BSS interface will be transcoded into the Mobile Switching Center (MSC/VLC). The VLC will interface with PSTN (Public Switch Telephone Network) i.e. Nigeria telecom or via satellite etc.

You can transcode your MSC to a GPRS Core Networks for terrestrial services like TV, Movies and SKY or Navigators technology or SMS gateways.

Finally, you would hook up the MSC/VLC with a EIS/HLR for managing mobile subscribers. Apart from obtaining a GSM license, it will cost you around £1,000,000

Now, you need to cover these monies to break even, let say 5 years. Within that five year a new technology comes out and someone deploy the same system with say £100,000 and it takes him  one year to break even. You see GSM network is becoming unattractive to investors.

If you take HSDPA systems, it takes less to deploy but there is a catch but I will not mention it here. Let see what you all think

I have been putting a solutions to some investors that I would not mention their names here for the reasons of confidentiality agreement that both of us have signed.

But the that is that I have been conducting a strategic proposal to deploy a HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) network in Nigeria that would allow us to penetrate into the GSM market with aggressive marketing and correlating the infrastructure with Wi-Fi technology and adding a GSM gateway on top of the system for only international routing.

What do you think on, how to deploy a system that will provide free local and national telecommunication, data communication, voice communication and video communication for free? Is it possible? How would you remain competitive and also generate revenue?
Phones / Telecommunication, Satellite And Wireless Technology In Nigeria by sbucareer(f): 11:08am On May 25, 2007

This thread is suppose to decompose the intellectual property hidden by knowledge base entrepreneurs and provide a technical, strategic and deployment of telecommunication systems within Africa, particular emphasis is given to Nigeria as consumers of these systems.

Now, I would like this thread to touch:

1. Satellite Communication
2. GSM Communication
3. GPRS Communication
4. Wi-Fi Communication
5. HSDPA Communication.
6. SIP Communication

Anybody with insight information regarding the current mobile communication technology like the one MTN, GlobalCom etc are using to deploy their GSM network. How it works, how they are deployed. The use of Mask and cells network and any other ways we can use the above mentioned technology to formulate a new strategic GSM network to cut cost or even provide Nigerian's with free local and national calls.
