Following the international awareness and sympathy created by the illegal detention of the leader of IPOB and the subsequent disobedience of court orders by Nigerian DSS. International figures are now wading into what is perceived as deliberate effort to nail down an innocent man. It also appears that neglect of Nigerian constitution seems not to bother Nigerian bar association eventhough it poses threat to the country and also an act of contempt to the court and bar. He questioned the sanity of disobeying court orders and going back to the same court to seek redress and urged judiciary to dismiss further charges against Nnamdi Kanu until the initial order of two competent courts are obeyed.

He however frayed the Nigerian press for ignorance or negligence over their reportage on Nnamdi Kanu, in his words " There is a mistake in the articles concerning Nnamdi Kanu due to negligence or ignorance, the high court released #NnamdiKanu unconditionally, so you (nigerian press) should have written that he was released unconditionally and not granted bail unconditionally, in law, these are all different issues, more so, he was totally absolved from all allegations and therefore there was the concept "Res Judicata" a matter that has been adjudicated by a competent court and may not be pursued further by the same parties, the DSS should have complied to the order of the court by releasing #NnamdiKanu unconditionally before proceeding to the appeal court if they were not satisfied with the ruling of the lower court and should have prayed the appeal court to admit fresh charges if they deem it fit. It is rather appalling that the institution of government who does not obey an order of the court, is still going to the court whom they treat with contempt to seek redress, this of course has a damaging effect on both the bar and the bench, it is therefore trite to urge the judiciary to dismiss any further charges brought by the DSS to any court in Nigeria, with regards to this same issue hence respect for the law and court.

I also want to call on Nigeria Bar association to rise to the occasion and condemn the actions of the DSS, and to be also followed by the National judicial council of Nigeria in the same condemnation. No system shall function effectively without total commitment to the rule of law and obedience to the decisions of the court of law. Thanks, Jeffrey Langley... Kemi Adeosun the woman who destroyed the economy of Ogun state, Nigeria is now our finance minister and lo and behold, she's just unveiled the biggest and worst budget ever! We are experiencing a tough time in the bond market, the dollar and pound are the highest ever in this administration and the collapsing oil prices mean NOTHING! We make the oil and still have huge fuel lines or none. The administration is even blaming the last one with Goodluck Jonathan as the cause of fuel scarcity.

The budget will be based on an oil price of $38 a barrel, while the deficit will be plugged with 1.84 trillion of borrowing, 900 billion of which will come from international debt markets, Buhari said. The country will consider tapping the Eurobond market early next year for the first time since 2013, Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun said in an interview on Dec. 16. Adeosun doesn't know it yet but we are watching the professional stealing going to start under her. This budget makes no sense! They have no plans to create jobs yet, just increase government spending. We already know how they shared arms and weapons money in the last administration.

Our President Muhammadu Buhari asked lawmakers to approve the country’s biggest ever budget on Tuesday as he looks to revive an economy hit by collapsing oil prices.

Buhari outlined plans for the government to spend 6.08 trillion naira ($30.8 billion) in 2016, an increase of about 20 percent from this year. The deficit will more than double to 2.2 trillion naira, or 2.16 percent of gross domestic product.

“The 2016 budget is designed to ensure we’ll drive our economy, deliver inclusive growth and create a significant number of jobs,” Buhari, a 73-year-old former general who last ruled Nigeria in the mid-1980s, told lawmakers in Abuja, the capital. It “seeks to stimulate the economy, making it more competitive by focusing on infrastructure.”

Africa’s largest oil producer, which usually derives two-thirds of government revenue from the commodity, has seen its finances battered by crude prices that have fallen almost 70 percent in the past 18 months to below $40 a barrel.

Ghana’s President John Mahama has banned public officials from first class air travel in a renewed effort to cut wasteful spending.
The ban has come into effect as the country implements an IMF aid deal to revive state finances, the government said on Tuesday.
Ghana is preparing to hold presidential and parliamentary elections next year and, with the opposition accusing government ministers of inflating contract sums, inappropriate spending will be a top campaign issue.
The presidency issued the directive this week asking all ministers and other top officials to avoid “unwarranted” foreign trips on the public purse, Communications Minister Edward Omane Boamah told media.
Ghana, a major producer of cocoa, gold and oil, began a three-year program with the International Monetary Fund in April to fix its economy.
The country’s economy has been dogged by high deficits, a widening public debt and unstable local currency.
Finance Minister Seth Terkper told media on Tuesday the cabinet is also discussing a financial accountability bill .
The schedule would impose penalties such as dismissal or jail time for public officials who are found to violate it.
“It is expected to be clear enough to enable the general public to see malfeasance if there is any and hold the agency involved accountable,” he added.

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Bassey Dan Abia.
Following the removal of Abia as NDDC chairman, Ibim Seminitari, who served as commissioner of information in the administration of Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Rivers state, has been appointed as the acting head of the commission.
Dan Abia, an indigene of Akwa Ibom state, was appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2013.
