GistMedia0:
In a deeply emotional moment, the body of Herbert Wigwe, a renowned businessman, philanthropist, and beloved figure, has arrived in his hometown of Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, for his final journey home. The somber event was captured on video as the community gathered to pay their respects to a man who touched many lives

O satisfy us early with Thy mercy
That we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Make us glad according to the days wherein Thou hast afflicted us,
And the years wherein we have seen evil.

Since the days of man are already determined,
And the number of his months is with You,
And You have appointed his limits that he cannot pass,
Look away from him and leave him alone.
That he may enjoy, like a hired hand, his day.

Man who is born of a woman
Is few of days and full of trouble.
He comes out like a flower and withers.
He flees like a shadow and continues not.

His days are like grass;
He flourishes like a flower of the field;
For the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
And its place knows it no more.

We must all die,
We are like water spilled on the ground,
Which cannot be gathered up again.

So teach us to number our days,
That we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

May Our Creator's Mercy embrace us when we take our last breath
And accompany our soul as we cross over into Eternity,
To usher us into His Presence forever.

Nigeria will never rise until it stops persecuting and maligning its best brains and most transparent hands. I had not heard of any details surrounding the exit of Mr Kayode Pitan from the Bank of Industry until recent days of reading online news reports, as no one from home in Nigeria breached the family's stoic silence about the mistreatment and victimization meted out to him by the Nigerian government as a parting shot for his years of blemish-free meritorious service to the nation.

Mr Kayode Pitan is my uncle. We grew up together in the same compound during his youth days as a student in high school. I was a very small boy then before being shipped off to the US. Thereafter, I lost contact with him for several decades. We reconnected circa 2013 when I visited Nigeria and he later visited me in Atlanta where we spent plenty of time together and have remained in close contact since. My childhood memories of him are that of a serious, disciplined, focused, quiet, honest and easy going big bro.

In my adulthood, I have never been more frustrated with a strait-jacket straightforward, principled, strictly-by-the-rules uncle as I have been with Mr Pitan, most especially while he was at BOI. His appointment to the pinnacle of BOI's management encouraged me to leave the US for Nigeria to try and take advantage of the numerous federal government industrial and manufacturing loan programs domiciled at BOI.
I applied for a few of the programs but the stringent criteria set by the government made the loans unattainable. Regardless, Mr Pitan did not bend any of the rules for me. I made numerous efforts to apply for different industrial loans from BOI. None of the loans were approved simply because I didn't meet the strict government set criteria for loan eligibility. The entitled selfish side of me expected my uncle to step in and soften some criterion. Uncle simply stayed aloof. He did not bend the rules. I was silently angry, disappointed and disillusioned. The inevitable success of the ambitious industrial development projects I sought the loans for would have turned me into a dollar multimillionaire if he had softened the eligibility standards for me during loan application, especially when I applied for a multimillion dollar World Bank funded loan facility for Solar Power projects in Nigeria.
This solar power loan program was administered by BOI. As with the other unsuccessful BOI loans I had prior applied for, I spent thousands of dollars and millions of naira of my own money to pay consultants, conduct project research, generate sundry technical reports, project evaluation study, proposal preparation, Environmental Impact Analysis, contracts with US and UK project technical partners, etc.
It was a solar power mini grid project designed as a compact mobile system to power entire housing estates, industrial estates, small communities etc, and one of Pastor Ashimolowo's massive cluster of housing estates near RCCG Camp was chosen for the pilot project. I was very passionate about the project because of my passion for breaking Nigeria's perennial and debilitating electricity failure bondage. I wanted desperately to execute this ambitious and well designed project as a success story to spur a revolution of commercial scale solar power mini grids across Nigeria to light up the nation. I had recruited formidable US and UK technical partners with solid track records in similar projects.
I submitted the proposal to BOI. Uncle only steered me to the appropriate staff and relevant department in the bank. Then he stepped back and stayed aloof. BOI staff, knowing the reputation of my uncle as a no nonsense straight-by-the-book technocrat, took me through the wringer, applying the strictest standards of loan eligibility criteria upon my project proposal. The loan was not approved and uncle did not intervene.
The relevant BOI personnel and the records, dating back to 2019, are still there at BOI for anyone to verify the veracity of this story. I was angry. Very disappointed. But I respected his stance of transparency, fairness, honesty and probity. These traits, along with his renowned clinically sharp management efficiency, accountability and above board straight shooting forthrightness are the same character traits with which he had handled the many Nigerian banks he had headed in the past as well as the RCCG parishes he had started from scratch and built into extremely successful thriving mega parishes. In the early days of the Tinubu administration, my humble self and many at BOI and elsewhere nursed high expectations of him being appointed as the next CBN governor as a natural next national calling for him with his no nonsense, transparent and rigorous play-by-the-rules managerial style to thoroughly sanitize Nigeria's apex bank and the entire corruption riddled Nigerian banking sector and thereby usher in an era of fiscal/economic stability for the nation.
This is the same man that highly placed low-life elements in Tinubu's administration roped into false accusations of financial impropriety. A man that was already an accomplished minister of the gospel, very comfortably retired banking executive, well established private sector businessman with a successful medical practitioner wife before Vice President Osinbajo called him up for national duty. A man of solid moral repute, well respected in the banking industry for his vast experience, renowned discipline, squeaky clean record, uprightness and transparency? This is utter travesty. Opprobrious injustice.

The fact that EFCC refused to bring any charges or indictments against Mr. Pitan only shows vividly that nothing was found against the man and that this entire exercise was a political witch hunt, a smoke screen designed to bully and push him out of BOI to make way for a politically favored appointee.

I challenge EFCC to prove me wrong.

The entire BOI establishment, RCCG Olive Tree parish at Banana Island (which he founded from scratch, built up massively and handed over to Pastor, later Vice President Yemi Osinbajo) and Lekki Tabernacle Of David parish (which he also founded from scratch and also built into a mammoth congregation), General Overseer Adeboye of RCCG and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo himself, will all readily attest to Mr Pitan's sterling credentials, incorruptible character, professional competency, probity and godliness.
What the Nigerian government purveyors of political brigandage have done to this humble servant-hero of the Nigerian nation can only serve to further repel Nigeria's best brains farther away from the corridors of national service when they are needed most to come help rescue and help develop the nation. This atrocity could well, in the near or distant future, incur the wrath and judgement of Providence upon the insufferable charlatans of government that perpetrated this injustice, and perhaps also upon the helmsman of federal government under whose unperturbed gaze the atrocity was permitted. Their identities and guilt are recorded in the High Courts of Heaven.

Nigeria will not rise until it stops persecuting its best brains and most transparent hands like it did Mr Pitan. Such travesty. What a tragedy!

Business / Re: How Wigwe’s Aide, Faleye Olushola, Escaped Death In Helicopter Crash by ScamKiller(m): 5:04pm On Feb 13
Babanah:

You need to understand how a helicopter takes off and remains in flight. There is the vertical rotor and the horizontal rotor. The pilot need to balance thrust created by these different rotor. The bigger rotor keeps the copter in flight while the smaller rotor behind stabilises the aircraft.
That is how a copter turns there is a change in the trust ratio between the main rotor and the small rotor. The aerodynamics of a helicopter is less straight forward.
Planes fly mainly by the thrust generated by the engine and Manoeuvring the wings and stabilisers.
Passenger airlines are essentially run by computers. The pilots simply load in the data and the computer generates the take off speed, V1 etc. There is also the auto pilot when the plane reaches cruising altitude. Planes are also build with lot of redundancies as well.

You are confirming what I just said. The rotors of a copter are pretty much the only complex thing on it.

Babanah:
The truth is a helicopter is a more complex aircraft than a plane.

A helicopter is not more complex than a plane. It is just much more delicate, much more vulnerable, much more unwieldy and has much less finesse than a plane. A plane is a vastly more technological and engineering marvel than a copter. Just the complex intricacies of a plane's jet engine alone has more complexity than an entire copter. The rotors are pretty much the really complex thing in a copter.

Family / Re: Making This Post Based On Demand: Why I'm Still Single At 42 by ScamKiller(m): 9:04pm On Oct 28, 2023
Exponential! Insidiously exponential analysis.

casualobserver:

Exactly. This is just a self consolation epistle. The reality is that at 42, even if she wants to marry (which deep down she does). She will struggle to find a man.

Women should not deceive themselves. No 42yr old woman has “suitors”. A man going after a 42 yr old woman is not looking for marriage. At that age the men chasing you are either already married or want to marry a younger women or are divorced. At 42, it is a woman who does the “suiting”. At 42 the only option to find a man is to settle for what you turned down in your youth except this time you are the 2nd wife or side chick whereas you were the main chick in your youth.

It is unfortunate that by the time many women realize the realities of dating and matching, it is too late for them. Women do not find husbands like we like to say, men find wives and the age window for a woman to be “found” is limited.

Life lessons for women. A woman is like fresh fish in the market and a man is like the buyer. There is a limited period when the fish remains fresh and can command competition amongst buyers and the best price in the market. If the seller doesn’t strike a deal with a buyer within that period, by evening you will end up discounting the fish and still no buyers or forced to eat your fish yourself, give it out for free or throw them away. So when the fruit is still Fresh, if the price is reasonable you take it because tomorrow there will be new fresh fish and nobody wants your fish anymore. The difference between a woman and a man is that 1). The quality of your fish goes down by the minute 2) you have a limited period to strike a deal with a good buyer, whereas for a man if he goes to market and his money cannot buy good fish today, he can go home work harder and raise the money to buy good fish tomorrow.

The market seller (Women) should remember when their fish is fresh that they are not the only ones in the market with fish, so when you have fresh fish and have competition for your fish, you must strike a deal or else there may never get an opportunity to tell the fish, certainly if you don’t sell while it is fresh, if you manage to sell it will never be at the price you were offered when fresh and which you rejected. So coming after the market has closed with epistle nobody asked you for about how you like the taste of your fish is as they say story for the gods, everybody knows you are eating your fish because there are no buyers.

The problem with many mature women who are still marriable is that they are still pricing their fish at the same price as fresh fish. After 35 you can’t have the same expectations (price) as you had when you were 25. You didn’t get that price when it was fresh how do you expect to get the same price when it isn’t fresh and there is new stock of fresh fish in the market?

The way some you talk about what you have zero knowledge of is annoying. Tell me what Siemens and EKSOM will do in an industry where the market design in flawed and only few people in Nigeria have deep understanding of Power Systems and Electricity market.

What did Buhari do? I am talking as someone that is in daily contact with the Chief Technical officer to the FG on Siemens deal. You are blaming GEJ for privatization........but GENCOS have increased capacity as contained and required in their contract with BPE. The TCN that is whooly owned by the FG, what has been their performance over the years? Till date, there is no SCADA......Till date, there is no contract for anxilarry services. Till date, those in charge of regulation have no sense of direction. What has this government done other than signing PPAs with some new plants while our NIPPS are redundant.

Before you respond to me, get the most knowledgeable person in the power sector in Nigeria to help you argue with me on Power system and electricity market and the situation in NESI at large.

You are here shifting all the blames to the buyers of DISCOS as if they are responsible solely for the issues in the power sector. Do you know the imbalance mechanism in NESI and how Discos are even penalized for taking more than their allocation in their Vesting Contracts. Stop this blame game and seek for knowledge from those that know.

I have told your regulator what they need to do to improve the sector, but everyone including those in APC govt now are making some illegal money from the sector.

If you ask me, I will tell you that unless the knowledge gap is sorted, we will keep spending billions with no improvement in the sector. There are other issues like corruption and weak regulation, but the number one issue is knowledge gap. 99% of those working in the industry only have a narrow understanding of the sector. A liberalized electricity market is very complex and dynamic, and we need people with deep understanding of the technical, the economics, and the regulations.

Resoundingly accurate and concise commentary reflective of an insightful understanding and sharp grasp of the deep seated issues underlying Nigeria's power sector malaise. I have sent you an e mail request with a view to accessing your seemingly rich repertoire of information on this thorny problem. Thanks for such searing SITREP rendition!
