I wonder where the years went
The years of Innocence with little worries
The days have gone
Moments have flashed past
I have grown older
I look back at yesterday
Oh how I thought I could shape the "tomorrow" then
I used to think I could achieve anything I put my mind to
Life seemed so easy like it was in cartoons
Dreams were conceived
Plans hatched
Most of which have become wishful thinking as I have come to realise
I remember with nostalgia
The times I was younger
When life wasn't so hard or so I thought
Now here wondering why I grew up
What really is the incentive for growing
Responsibilities, bills and societal expectations
These now take away the joy of "adulting"
Oh if I could turn back the hands of time
I wish I was younger
When my troubles were fewer
And friends truer

You see my smile
But deep within I cry
You see the laughter
But deep within I am drowning
You see me fixing others
But I myself need fixing
I am broken
Pieces of me scattered all over the place
I am lost
Cannot seem to find myself
I am screaming for help
But all the world sees is my playful self


I close my eyes and they think I sleep
But deep inside I am wide awake searching
For the missing piece
For that one thing
The one that will lead me home
And out of this feeling
Lights will shine
And I shall smile again
Dancing to the rhythm of my heart
As I recover from the dungeon I find myself
But who would save me
When the real me can’t be found

I am happy someone else is givi8this a thought. I had raised it before on one of my posts and even tagged Lalasticlala on the need to move our works to the front page for better exposure. He moved one of my works to the front page and since then I have not seen much from this section there.

Who is the moderator for this section. I guess we can start from there. Its disheartening when people say Nairaland is lacking content these while we poets drop works here daily! I dropped 3 works in 3 days and I am sure others have been doing same

I can't help but admit that I have fallen
Isn't it obvious that with you I am smitten
The stare of your eyes stings
The effect reaching the most impenetrable part of me
The thoughts of you
This one is beyond words
This wordsmith lacks words to say

There are days of drought
When the words don't add up
When the rhymes don't make sense
The days when the ink quarrels with the pen
At such times, I sit and wonder what happened

There are days of flood
When the words fill the head
The problem now becomes how to cook them up
The rhymes starting to give orgasmic feelings
The ink making poetic romantic rounds on the paper
Such times, I just relax and get drowned in the feeling

Such a wonderful feeling to be a writer, poet or whatever it is
Putting thoughts to words
This in itself is self satisfying
Only for those who appreciate the art
My life, my words all in a single piece
Being the promoter of the love between the ink and the paper
Letting the ink flow whilst making the paper grin with utmost admiration

You know it will not last
You cling to it despite the fact
It is akin to a night when the pleasure is good
Day definitely breaks and the night ends
Yet the feelings derived from the night holds the thought of the day Abbey

Who is a mother?
Father being male parent
Mother being female parent
If that is the dictionary meaning ( argue with the owners of the language) why then do we confuse ourselves.
Why celebrate mothers on father's day
In the same vein celebrate fathers on mother's day
The world we live in is just confused
Irrespective of circumstances a father is one who begets a child while a mother is one who carried the child in the womb
A man is a king while a woman is a queen
Never have I heard royalties mixing both
What is it with this new gender switch because of peculiar circumstances?
