That is nonsense. Are the people in that region more Nigerian than Nigerians? Do you think if there is government will that those communities will stand in the way of development? Do you think Nigeria does not have a constitution that placed all lands and waterways on the palm of the federal government?

Stop saying what you have no knowledge as to how it works.

Abagworo:
We had this discussion in old Nairaland when I was younger and our conclusion was that it is impossible without a war. Most communities that separate Igbos from sea had always used it to their advantage from pre-colonial times and would not want to lose it now.

Yes this is a good suggestion without hate nor frustration..and not this particularly i.diot named omonakoda masquerading as if he is of love to the Igbos whereas his plans are filled with evil and hate!

Mynd44:
There is another choice that is a lot more viable. The Ibaka port in Akwa Ibom should be finished and opened. That is very important to open up this choice and this plan.

With that port opened, the legislators, lobbyists and governors from the SE should put pressure on the FG to connect the port to their cities via rails.

How much good will that do? Not much until one state build a rail to link to the FG's link to a inland port. Where you can have goods come to Ibaka and sent straight up to possibly Abia state without hassles and from Abia, things can happen. Exportation can also am happen as it will be a two way thing.

Asking for the River Niger to be dredged is going to cost billions and a lot of time and with the government going broke...goodluck with that happening.

As someone mentioned, If other cities that Along the Niger complains, they will be right to have the river dredged up to then too. So build an inland port and connect it to an existing port via rails. You can even have a terminal exclusively dedicated to good going up to Abia from Akwa Ibom sef.

There he goes again crying over something that has nothing to do with him nor his people. Lol

You are neither from Rivers nor Bayelsa, why are you worried whether it can be done or not if you are not already scared that it can be done but already expressing your frustration on its success. cheesy

Why are you filled with hate, bitterness, frustration and negative plans for your perceived enemies or rivals?

Get yourself busy that way you will think more about how to better yourself and your people. Get a life MR caring. wink

omonnakoda:
The environmental impact of dredging is on the host community in the immediate environment as well as others upstream hundreds of miles way.
Normally the river flows into the oceans .Are we saying to dredge so that the ocean waters mix with the river and the river now becomes salt water instead of fresh.

Who are the immediate community ? Rivers State. /Bayelsa State
So Rivers state instead of agitating for their own port will allow dredging + 100 kilometres of river bed through their territory with unpredictable consequences so as to solve a non existent problem? Whilst losing jobs and revenue that a port in Bayelsa or Rivers state would create and the disruption of marine life that is their livelihood. You remove the river bed that sustains all their fish and marine life to what end?

What is needed are ports in Bayelsa and or Rivers and or Akwa Ibom that can be built without dredging and causing unnecessary disruption

PoliticsRe: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by Schematics: 1:23pm On May 22, 2015
Nwanne if you say so. At least I know that in the East, Anambra has the highest number of tertiary institutions both government and private combined.

As for the Zik's Place in Awka you go wait until I finish my tenure first. cheesy

BuddahMonk:
Bros why are you killing this agenda, do you we are second in JAMB candidates in Nigeria and first I gaining Admission in tertiary institutions, we need school that will absorb those kids that lost out from high cut off marks in the universities.

Instead of sitiing down waiting for another JAMB they can easily be admitted in the state poly and commence academic life.

Do you know that a poly in Onicha will make our businessmen start loving education and investing in it, do you know that businessmen and women in Onicha need weekend programs closer to them.

Education is very good and Omanbala is an education conscious state, my cousin failed to be admitted at Igbariam and he decided to join open univ, I wish there is a poly I will tell him to join and be going from home there in Onicha as well be helping his mother in the shop.

We need it bro, it will make our city civilize because those artisans and laborers will be made to sit up because education community is around, the police will be civil because educated folks are around, everybody will start packaging inorder to look like ezigbo mmadu.

Nwanne am a good administrator ooo but believe me I will be the governor of Anambra State.

I will relocate all artisans both mechanics and welders etc to one secluded area closer to the city like ogbunike, Ogidi or Umunya and face it.

I will never allow churches, hospitals and schools to be in residential buildings, every church must have her own property, every school the same, every hospital the same.

There was a link I sent you up there, I wanted you to worry more about the economic crisis in your state of oshun than worry about what a nairalander thought about a seaport. I am not just saying this but because I have seen you leave issues that bother you and your people only to jump on issues that got to do with the Igbos. You cried about Innoson cars, you cried about a house by a former gov, you cried about products from SE. Haba..you have cried enough. Get a life outside NL for once.

omonnakoda:
Why skip it I have my opinion and I want to express it if you do not like it why not ignore my comments or go and drink rat poison.Must you tell me what not to do.Is it your father's site? Are you not taking rat poison for another person's rats by telling me what to do. Do exactly wat you are advising and get out of my face
PoliticsRe: A Functioning Seaport And Economic/technological Revolution In The SE by Schematics: 12:01pm On May 22, 2015
Stop crying on issues that concerns the Igbos. Why not leave the igbos to worry about if the port is feasible or not! Haba! Stop wandering on NL and crying on behalf of the igbos. ! wink

the River Niger passes through about 8 states
PoliticsRe: A Functioning Seaport And Economic/technological Revolution In The SE by Schematics:

This thread was created by a Southeasterner to discuss on the way forward for his region's prosperity, why not focus on your region and how it can get better instead sleeping 24/7 on NL looking out for any thread that has something to do with the Igbos! My friend get a life!

omonnakoda:
My main concern is that you worry so much about what omonnakoda worries about, very much less as you worry about issues plaguing you and family!

Is omonokoda equal to Nigeria? Why not leave Nigerian government and policy makers to worry about that! My main concern is that you worry so much about issues that has to do with the Igbos, very much less as you worry about issues plaguing you and your people!

omonnakoda:
Any attempt to dredge the Niger River is the concern of all Nigerians because we will all have to deal with the environmental consequences but not just Nigerians all other countries through which it flows. Dredging a river for hundreds of kilometres is not a joke

Why are you always crying over issues that is not even remotely affecting you and leaving those ones that is destroying you and your people? I have been viewing to see you on the below thread but NO you have suddenly gone to Jamaica only returned on seeing the Igbos your nightmares!

My friend get a life or this your pervasive state of mind will destroy you!

omonnakoda:
I think some people like to engage in fantasy.
What is the international politics of the River Niger?
Where is its origin?
Which countries have the right to dam the Niger?
Who is doing so currently and who has future plans to do so?
Will the River Niger always be there as we know it?

Assuming that is the case and it can be dredged by the FG to allow large ships( an unrealistic feat technically) what would be the enviromental impact or do we assume we can do what we like without consequences upstream even outside Nigeria?

How many international ships will agree to enter Nigeria and be permitted to do so by their insurers
Is Onitsha the only town along the Niger that needs to have the so called port why is it the most deserving ?
Why not Niger,Kogi,Kwara states?
They voted for Buhari and they also want their own "Niger bridges" too .The river Niger is not River Onitsha.
PoliticsRe: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by Schematics: 9:09am On May 22, 2015
There is Madonna University at Okija near Onitsha just 20mins away. There is also COE at Nsugbe, I think its not more than 15mins also from Onitsha. There is equally Onitsha Business School though they just started recently somewhere around American quarters or GRA. What is the need of state poly when we have a federal poly. Anything we can do to save more money for capital projects is okay!

BuddahMonk:
The later.
That place should be elevated to a specialized university like we have in Warri.

Onicha and environs need a higher institution.
Can Anambra afford both State university and state poly, Abia, Imo, Enugwu have both though Abia and Enugwu don't have Fed Poly but Ebonyi, Imo and Anambra have.

Anambra need state poly.

Nwanne you are very correct. Obiano's sterling performance has kept the strong opposition in Anambra in the coolers. grin

BuddahMonk:
Nwanne there is one thing I discovered about Omanbala, friendly opposition party but the governor is very very careful.

The opposition is waiting for him to f up so that they will take the advantage but they are not all over media pulling him down to show they want his office.

The governor himself knows the opposition in the state have everything in their arsenal, intellectuals and moneybags so he won't like to f up lest he lose his state.

PDP with Obi the father of modern Anambra and Ngige in APC backed by Federal power brokers are lurking at the corners for the plumb job, Obiano need to sit up walahi because these guys take no prisoners ooo grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

At the end of the whole exercise Omanbalas are winning.
APGA winning Anambra is no longer an easy job, let your performance do the job.

Come back home, relocate your investments. Nigeria hates you - Obi of Onitsha tells Ndi Igbo

The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, has reminded Ndi Igbo that Nigeria is not their country. Dr Achebe, urged the Ndi Igbo to relocate all their investments to industrialise their home.

He couldn't have put it better!

Speaking at a book presentation and inaugural conference of Ala Igbo Development Foundation (ADF) Achebe said that more than 70 per cent of the investments of the Igbo-speaking Biafrans was scattered in other parts of Nigeria.

He said that the success of the Ndi Igbo in other parts of the country had often bred envy from their host communities and sometimes led to xenophobic attacks at any slight provocation.

“The more we take root in other lands, it generates envy from the host communities which often leads to xenophobic attacks on the Igbo.

“We must come back to Igbo land which is our base. We must begin to bring our investment back, rebuild and industrialise our land,’’ he said.

The traditional ruler noted that it was high time the Igbo began to translate the intentions of the various Igbo groups championing their wellbeing into action.

The royal fathers admonition follows series of recent anti-Igbo rhetorics raging across Nigeria, with prominent individuals openly expressing their disdain for Ndi Igbo and threatening to kll them.

The Ala Igbo Development Foundation, a new sociocultural organisation angling to overthrow the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, champions the development of Igbo land and the rebirth of the spirit of its culture and civilisation.
