The Government of Anambra state has inaugurated the Anambra State Airport Advisory Committee to deliver the Anambra Cargo/Passenger Airport within 18 months. While inaugurating the committee, Chief Willie Obiano noted that the committee will provide advisory support on the development and project implementation of the planned Anambra State Cargo/Passenger Airport; review Expressions of Interest (EOI) by private sector parties desirous of investing in the airport project and select the most qualified to work with the state government in setting up and operating the airport.

Furthermore, the committee is to modify the technical architecture , business plan, and recognize those parts of the master plan that cannot be altered; also advise the government of Anambra state on the best options available on the airport project in terms of financing (Private Public Partnership), airport usage. Members of the committee include, Chief (Mrs.) Stella Oduah (chairman), Engr. Nnaemeka Nwawka, Mr. Chuma Mbonu, Arc. Callistus Ilozumba, Mr. Mark Okoye, Mr. Mac Atasie, Mr. Martin Emeka Nwafor, Engr. Ifeanyi Ozorka and Engr. Sylvester Onuorah.

In his vote of thanks, Engr Emeka Nwawka the MD of Orient Petroleum noted that the team has accepted the challenge with pleasure and assured that the Cargo/Passenger Airport will be one of the best in the country. He also congratulated the governor on the strides in setting up various arms of the vision and mission of the administration. He also added that the airport will aid oil and gas, commerce, medical evacuation, agriculture and industries. Also, he revealed that the airport will have a standard modern shopping plaza such that business men and women can transact their businesses.

The Federal Government, on Saturday, laid the foundation for the construction of an ultra-modern School of Aeronautic and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering in Ogbaru, Anambra State.

Former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, who spoke at the ceremony, said the foundation stone laying ceremony marks the full commencement of the project at Akili-Ozuzo, Ogbaru Local Government Area, adding that the project was aimed at inculcating practical and technical knowledge to students of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.

The ceremony took place earlier before a grand reception organised for Oduah by Ogbaru people. She said the school, when completed, would, among other things, afford students of high institution the technical and practical know-how in order to be more employable, adding that the school will give the students multiple knowledge and make them acquire experience.

According to her, the school will contribute in multiple aspect of students’ lives and give them knowledge as they will acquire skills and practical knowledge to be employable in the near future, as she hoped that it will help the students to be better people in future.

Oduah expressed optimism that the project, which was initially mapped to gulp N250 million, will be completed on time and on specification, while commending President Goodluck Jonathan for the new innovative he had brought into educational sector.

Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Godwin Onu, said the project was part of his mission statement when he assumed office as the rector of the Institution to expand the scope of learning in the school by bringing in School of Aeronautic and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering as well as Marine Engineering into the school.

“Apart from the aeronautic and aircraft maintenance engineering, the school shall also train students on other sections of aviation like training air hostesses and other people working in the aircraft, so that we will not again depend on using people abroad each time they need to maintain their aircraft, we shall be serving the aviation sector from here,” he said.

I don't think so. APGA has quality candidates. Former NCC boss Ndukwe is coming to take over Anambra south. Also Obaze is taking Anambra north. APGA primaries were so organized that some Europeans and Asians living in Anambra came to monitor the process.

Most of the persons fielded by APGA in the upcoming elections are no match for the guys in PDP. I think the problem APGA may have is that tickets were just handed to friends and associates of Chief Umeh. PDP, which was notorious for fraudulent primaries was carefully in conducting its primaries in Anambra. A neigbour in the house of reps was not even sure of winning till the results came out . He was so stressed that week despite having the power of incumbency

APGA road show in Awka. APGA should concentrate in fielding only technocrats in all the states. This party will actually be the real progressive party in Nigeria..

Today at Saint Patrick Catheral- Awka. This Worship Center more or less looks like the Saint Peter's Basilica in Vatican..

The showrooms are four Nnewi/Awka, Abuja, Lagos and PH.

Again I think it is high time Obiano designate our cities in line with what they represent.

Awka- Administrative Capital

Onitsha- Economic Capital

Nnewi- Industrial Capital

Otuocha/Aguleri- Oil and Gas Capital


That way each will focus on its area of absolute advantage. While Awka will represent the administration, hospitality and tourism as it is now, Onitsha as the most cosmopolitan city of east of the Niger on the other hand being the economic nerve center of east should be christened the economic capital, Nnewi which has pioneered the first auto manufacturing company will be an Industrial capital. Otuocha has equally pioneered the first ever private refinery in Nigeria and Orient Petroleum is also drilling in the area, thereby attracting other oil and gas companies to the area alongside an ongoing International Cargo/Passenger Airport. I think it is already tilting to that direction.

The sky is just our starting point..

I heard that INNOSON is considering 3 showrooms/maintenance shops in Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt.
I am sure these three locations will have adequate geographic spread to distribute their vehicles across Nigeria. Especially the cheapest, IVM Fox, design to be affordable for the working class family.

INNOSON should consider acquiring one haulage truck for transporting his vehicles to these showrooms/ maintenance facility. So that they remain in pristine condition at the show rooms.

I am not sure it was the statement Ken made barely two weeks ago that made the government to award the roads the next day. I think it has been undergoing process before it was eventually awarded. Such projects of that magnitude is not something you dream about at night and wake up to say you want to build. There must have been bidding process, design stage, costing and all before the actual award. These stages takes several weeks and months.
