Softmirror: Scholes007 Do a case study about Cuba, Nicaragua, Haiti, Venezuela, Panama, even of recent is Canada and see for yourself the hostility they have suffered and are suffering by the United of America. The countries surrounding the United States how do the fair?!
Some of the conflicts and incidents should be judged by the circumstances of the time. It was during the time of cold war especially the case of Cuba, and there were growing case of communism and challenges to the democratic principles of the west. To protect Her values some actions has to be taken by the US. I'm not saying all their actions where right but necessary. Mind you we are even talking about these morality because of the western principles protected by the US. I understand that some of the US policies in recent history are some worth questionable but the grand plan remains protecting rules based order.
Softmirror: Hence this comment of yours automatically negates your notion about America being responsible for world peace, most especially in the middle East.
It doesn't, look at it this way, the middle east has been at loggerheads with each other for centuries if not millennials. The region has not truly known peace until in recent history. Then came the Israel and oil boom in the 70's which in turn brought US interest in the region. To maintain peace and economic progress some political alliance has to be maintained which the US has played incredibly well considering how volatile the region is.
Softmirror: No such thing like Islamic terrorism. It was a cold war between the Soviet Union and the United States that has led to what we are experiencing today.
Infact the Mujahideen of Afghanistan were trained and supported by the United States in the 70s to fight Russia.
Anything 'Islamic Terrorism' is an invention of the United States either through sponsorship or mismanagement of crisis.
I'
Sadam Hussien was supported by United States.
Sorry to come in here too. Tell me the time in history of the world that place referred to as middle east was peaceful?. One can argue that, "without the US, middle east will be at war with itself."
Softmirror: Peace in the world? Can you kindly explain?! Because for a fact, the United States has supported coups that ousted democratically elected presidents around the world while imposing tyrants who remained in power for decades. We can start with the first September 11 in Chile's history.
The Gulf war alone served as a catalyst, responsible of a large percentage of the insecurity the world suffers today.
It's good you brought some political mistakes of us policies. Before I answer some of the questions. 1.We should remind ourselves that the rule base order we have today was because of the all evil USA; The UN, WHO,IMF, World Bank and many other international institutions and regulations where championed by the good for nothing USA.
2. The Evil USA helped rebuild much of Europe and Japan after 2nd world war.
3. US has maintained safety and trade all over the world. Including open sea lane etc.
4. The human rights we talk often has always been protected by the US
5. A lot of wars have been stop by the US
6. US played important role in the china dream and many other developing nations including some developed nations like South Korea
7. Promotion of Science and technology transfer all over the world. ETC
It is good we understand that US foreign interests has always been protected too, that is why you see her starting or supporting some conflicts. Remember the world has never been as peaceful as it is in modern history. Put in mind there are a lot of indisciplined regional actors as well as international actors who opposed her. So geo-politics is not about who is wrong or right but what is wrong or right based on already established rules base guide.
harjay1986: See them bully sympathizer.... You will never see anything wrong now ... when a common police is stopping your visitor that you invite to your house but you decide to rubbish him
Bully sympathiser? I don't understand. Would you like to elaborate?
Softmirror: The United States of America as a country is very much guilty of that which is institutionally for a fact. Countries have been destroyed by America simply because of their own choice of 'opinion' meaning choice of government one which is not inclined to 'democracy'.
Hmmm. @Softmirror US foreign policies are not perfect. But US internal politics is very important as it shapes Western culture. But the truth remains US foreign policies and support remains what keeps peace in the world for the past century. Any sign of weakness from US spells doom to current world order.
Softmirror: Advocating?! Infact the more reason I had to use your own opinion with regards the America's 2nd amendment law as the bases of the moral you want to justify.
Like I said earlier, I don't support gun right in America or anywhere in the world. If you read about American history you will understand why they made the 2nd amendment. The issue is not about if we support gun right or not, it's now; "should someone be killed because of his opinion?". Charlie had other opinions which someone may argue was why he was killed. He was pro live, anti LGBTQ etc
Softmirror: So?! Should anybody be punished for saying he was killed by the gun he supported?! Don't people have the right to express such view. It would have been a different expression if he was like you that is not a fan of America's 2nd amendment law.
The issue is moral now. We understand reasons by pro-gun right advocates and reasons for anti-gun right advocates, both are open to debate. But advocating for the death of a person because he supports gun rights is not right and cannot be condoned.
Softmirror: Charlie supported gun possession by Americans as a right to even start with if the perspective of him being assassinated by a bullet is your view. Of course people are being fired from work for expressing their views. That is what it is.
I may not be a fan of the American 2nd amendment law but I sure know he has his own right to support that just like other Americans who support gun right. Kirk assassination should not be condoned in any form period.
yarimo: Peter obi and bitter Obidients I thought it was only done in Nigeria
This is exactly why hatred spreads. You are insinuating that anything Peter Obi is comparable to bitterness. It's either you are very diabolical person or outright ignorant.
Softmirror: Do you know the number of people who have been and are still being punished for their opinions about the assassinated Charlie Kirk by Trump's government?!
I don't understand. Do you mean people who supported political assassination or what?. I understand Charlie Kirk assassination is very important in USA current politics but I doubt that was why Macron walked the streets of New York
Putindbutt: Ipob version.. he chose to walk yet he requested for passage.
let's say you are a Nigerian president and you are making a movement within say Enugu city and a sudden request was made to break security details do you think you can change the course of things without restrictions.
legitnow1: LISTEN TO THE LAST PART OF THAT LADY STATEMENT .
I HAVE NEVER HEARD A PEOPLE FEEL MORE ENTITLED IN MY LIFE.
THIS IS IGBO PEOPLE GIVEN JUST 20NAIRA ATTHE END OF THE WAR FROM THEIR SAVING WILL NOW ENSURE THE BENEFIT OF HIS SWEAT IS FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITIES AND NATION.
THAT IS A NEXT LEVEL OF HATRED AND MUST BE TOTALLY REJECTED.
THERE BEEF WITH IVM IS THAT HE HAD THE WISDOM TO MOVE HIS BUSINESS TO HIS HOME TOWN.
WITH THE IGBO MUST GO BREWING IN LAGOS, MORE INVESTMENT THERE IS LUDICRUOUS.
NwekereNdokl: Good. I welcome your idea of building coal to energy infrastructure that will help solve power challenge in southeast. That’s very realistic. But not someone commenting that Igbo states should contribute money to build Enugu new city, how does that even sound and how will it ever gonna be possible for other states to contribute money to build another state?
contribution for Enugu new city should be for Enugu state. But railway, electric infrastructure and major road network should be a collective effort if not it will be business as usual.
NwekereNdokl: I don’t really understand what you meant by Igbo states contributing monies to build new Enugu city? As in we are in a regional government? Why can the same Igbo states contribute monies to build same in Anambra or imo or even Ebonyi? Some of the comments you guys make here is just a feel-good kind of post to massage egos not that you truly meant it. Let’s always be realistic in our posts.
I think I understand the idea. For instance if a modern coal fired plant is built in Enugu to power the region then how is that not realistic??
SonOfDSoil01: I guess you can read and comprehend? I just stated that in my post so why asking me stupid questions bikonu I no get time to shalaye
Empty read and comprehend crew. Like I said earlier unless you regard you sentimental stereotype as truth, if not, you can come down from your high horse and dialogue like a human being which we are(Unless you think you are not).
SonOfDSoil01: they just want to press the mumu botton of our emotional blodas who get triggered by news like this you can’t force anyone to be eboe if they don’t want to associate with the tribe and I don’t blame them.
I once dated an anioma girl by the name chikiama, and I could remember in our short relationship because i don’t have plans to wife any chi but just to date for fun she always deny are eboe heritage and get defensive anytime I call are eboe
She even told me are late dad won’t accept an eboe man for her as husband and I was surprised that such sentiments still exist. She even told me she it was her wish to date and marry a Yorubaman and another anti Eboe sentiment I also experienced was during my service year in owerri. One of my flat mate also a corper from Agbo also never identified with his Eboe heritage, despite the fact the he understands eboe and also an Eboe name.
This sentiment are real, even amongst the eboe tribe in SE, they still segregate themselves with this primitive osu system and inequality where some eboe like Anambala see ebonyi man as lesser eboe calling them nwa abakiliki and some also referred to as Wawa, so how do you expect others to join you when they see the segregation and lack of unity
it's funny how you sound more emotional than the accused.
IGBOSON1: Recently, we saw Ethiopia launch the massive GERD dam that would supply more than 5,000 megawatts of electricity to the country and its neighbours. It was built at a cost of $5 billion and the funds were sourced by gov't issued bonds as well as remittances from Ethiopians in diaspora. The funding model used for the GERD dam is what i have always advocated for funding critical economy enabling infrastructure in Alaigbo/south-east! Nigeria receives on average about $20 billion yearly in diaspora remittances, and a modest estimation of the Igbo component of these remittances could be put at $5 billion....though i reckon it's much more! The Ethiopians were committed and patient enough to raise $5 billion over a specified period, and i feel this same commitment and patience could be replicated by Ndigbo to raise funds for the New Enugu City project and other infrastructure in the state. I'm referring to Enugu specifically because i've come to realise that it's presently difficult if not impossible to have a pan-Igbo approach to this funding initiative because the region in led by a lot of insular and inward-focused governors who prefer to work in silos and don't have a pan-Igbo worldview or approach to development! This is why i'm narrowing my attention specifically to Enugu, and Abia also, as i feel cautiously optimistic about governance in these two states, and feel their governors have the capacity and the trust of the public to drive this funding initiative! Both states have done sometjing similar, but on a smaller scale, with their security trust funds.
Ordinarily, the SEDC (south east development commission) would have been the best option for driving this funding model on a regional level, but has anyone heard anything from them lately? I was unimpressed at the time SEDC was inaugurated because i know it's just more of the same....just playing to the gallery, and the usual motion-without-movement that has seen Nigeria stagnate economically since the 70s and punch way below its weight!
So anyone close to Mbah or Otti could help us show this post to them so they can help kickstart the process ASAP as time is not on our hands and the rest of the world is fast leaving us behind! This could be a state infrastructure funding initiative, or it could be regional, though as i've already stated i don't have much faith in all the governors of the region and SEDC being serious and committed enough or having the capacity to see this through to a successful conclusion!
Like Ethiopia has done, Enugu state could use gov't issued bonds and diaspora remittances to raise at least $2 billion over the remaining 6 years of Mbahs' governance! This could be used for the New Enugu city project, a state rail network, a power plant, as well as investments in education and health separate from but complimentary to the states budgetary provisions for the sectors.
I genuinely doubt the crop of politicians we have now can even think of such ideas. They are much myopic to even give them any credit. These kind of Idea shouldn't be out of politics but through groups similar to Ipob (except the secessionist idea)
USA intends India stops buying oil from Russia. If India buys from Nigeria it a win for the US. Interestingly, US has enormous pressure on nations around the world.
fineboynl: We need 3 impactful reasons on Nigerians. And why Nigerians needs to support tinubu second term?
You could find 300k 2 bedroom flat during buhari, as bad as Bahrain government was. During Jonathan you could get 150k 2 bedroom flat.
But now what you finds is from millions. I need to know why tinubu needs a second term? What is it that he want to do with second term thst he cannot do in the next 2 years?
Because 1. He is Jagaban, the master strategist. The builder of Lagos. 2. He is the greatest accountant of Chicago. The mighty economist of his time. 3. He is the builder of APC, the great president of the Yorubaland. The greatest revolutionary leader on tribal bigotry.
Tribal tricks of APC is laughable. It's a shame we can't focus on National discuss again. How much we have sunk under a decade. The truth is no person of worth will discuss Nigerian politics now.
Creamypie: na people from east dey talk say Deltans are yearning to join their brothers. Don't mind am na east e come from.we aren't Igbos.Igalas are here. Same as olukumi tribe. They have destroyed their place and are looking for big, fine place with sea access and oil to call theirs. The way easterners dey salivate for delta lands, and concerns. Very irritating
Hahaha Funny how you think of yourself. So you think if someone wants to invest outside Lagos, Abuja and port Harcourt then delta will be the next right? You are extremely funny. The Onitsha-Asaba proximity is the only importance of individual investments in delta state unless you are talking about oil and gas which is capital intensive, in turn only favour government and the 10% hence doesn't translate to urgency to invest in other sector unless you want to tell me those 10% live there. If Not, then what makes you think your so called delta is important to an Easterner??
Mrexcell: Adding anioma state to the south east to balance the regional imbalance makes more sense and gives the anioma state agitation more credibility but unfortunately many anioma people are still scared of joining the east they actually scared of another biafra war breaking out in nigeria where they will be massacred again just like in the first biafra war.
Why will there be a Biafran war?? Is there any reason for that??
Thundafireseun: Please enlighten me on why she will contest in Abia state …
Funny you talk so much about her but knows too little about her. Yes she was born in ogwashi ukwu in delta state but she is married to Iweala in Abia state
