To many idiotic stories from Non entities. Igala and Igbo sub group interactions were sparsely documented because it was limited and of no significance. Yes there are times Igala incursion occurred, it was mostly brief with Igala defeat on the long run. Igala was never a frightening threat to northern Igbos.

It's funny how aligning with the centre amount to good governance. Shamefully no human being of worth discuss Nigerian politics. It just a case study of cluelessness in governance in relation to high illiteracy and poverty.
Note. The toxic nature of Nigerian politics will eventually be it's unfortunate demise. Stupid short term thinkers.

The Proposed 80-Year Concession of Enugu International Airport: A Call for Urgent Action!

The recent announcement by the Tinubu administration to concession the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu for 80 years is deeply troubling and should raise serious concerns among the people of Enugu and the entire Igbo community.

To begin with, Akanu Ibiam International airport, Enugu, is one of only five international airports in Nigeria. Yet, unlike the others, it has been limited to just one international airline, while the remaining four enjoy access to at least three or more. This restriction is both unjust and discriminatory.

Furthermore, the international terminal buildings at the other four airports have long been completed and are fully operational. Enugu’s terminal building, on the other hand, remains unfinished and non-functional, despite starting at the same time with those at the other four airports.

It is worth recalling that two years ago, the federal government announced plans to concession all international airports in Nigeria. However, during the actual execution of this policy, Enugu was suspiciously excluded, while the other four proceeded without delay.

In another instance of clear neglect, the Enugu airport was shut down for over three years to resurface a 3-kilometer runway—a task that typically takes no more than three months in other airports.

Now, the Tinubu government has introduced yet another questionable move: proposing to concession the Enugu airport to an undisclosed international aviation company for an unprecedented 80 years!!! This stands in sharp contrast to the other airports, which were concessioned to reputable international firms for a much more reasonable period of 20 years.

These repeated actions suggest a deliberate strategy to undermine development in the Southeast, using the only international airport in the region as a tool to achieve that aim.

It is important to emphasize that such actions have continued to succeed largely due to the silence and inaction of the people of the region. It is time for political leaders, civil society, and especially the youth from the Southeast to speak out boldly against this latest move.

We must reject this blatant marginalization and insist that the Akanu Ibiam International Airport be treated with the same respect, investment, and fairness as other international airports across the country. The Southeast deserves equitable infrastructure and opportunities, and the airport is a vital part of that future.

Let it be clear: we cannot build a united Nigeria while deliberately stifling one of its regions. We call on the Federal Government to reverse this unjust proposal and ensure that the Southeast is given its rightful place in the nation’s development.
The issue should be what is our politicians doing?? If this is a problem, why haven't they spoken about it.

PoliticsRe: China Turns To Nigeria, Other Emerging Economies As US Markets Freeze by Scholes007(m): 12:57pm On Apr 21, 2025
Wolfdevil:
You’ve made a very important point, and I honestly think more people should be paying attention to this. We’ve talked so much about the US-China trade war, but the real opportunity for us Nigeria and Africa is right here with China looking our way.

Now, $51 billion in investments, aid, and loans? That’s no small amount. If China is serious about diversifying away from the US and they're looking at Africa especially Nigeria as their next big market, we need to come to the table with our heads held high and a plan that benefits us.

With the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCTA) now in place, this is the best time for African countries to build cross-border industries. It means we can move past just exporting raw materials and start creating value here on the continent. That’s where the real growth and jobs will come from.

You also mentioned how Chinese contractors accounted for about 60% of construction work in Africa in 2019. That’s massive! But let’s not just celebrate that. Let’s use it as a sign that China is deeply invested here. So we shouldn’t be begging. We should be negotiating.

Now, about Nigeria being China’s biggest market in Africa absolutely correct. That gives us leverage. We should be pushing for deals that reflect our position. The currency swap agreement you mentioned from $2 billion to $10 billion is a great start. It’ll help reduce our overdependence on the dollar and make trade with China smoother.

But beyond that, we need to focus on capital goods. Let the things coming into the country be machines, tools, and tech that will help us grow industries, not just cheap finished goods. We want factories here, not just warehouses.

If the Minister of Trade and Investment plays his cards right, and presents the right deal to the President, this could be a turning point. And if China is really as eager as it seems, they’ll approve it in a week. All we need to do is make sure Nigeria is smiling for the right reasons not because we got aid, but because we secured a smart, future focused deal.

Let’s get the sweet part of the deal while the timing is perfect.
China will not cover those gaps with your proposed strategy. Chinese strategy has always been to dump stuffs in a Nation.
Let the things coming into the country be machines, tools, and tech that will help us grow industries, not just cheap finished goods. We want factories here, not just warehouses.
if they had done that with US then I don't think they will be trade war.

America doesn't need the kind of relationship it has with EU now, so there is no reason going back to old normal. As for recession nobody knows if it will happen yet, it's too early.

Tinubu has no capacity to bribe JP Morgan. I believe it's the banks perception of the Nigerian market that is driving the move. Nigeria has huge market so it makes sense if JP expands it's presence.

Sentiments aside, US needs new relationship with EU. Times are changing and EU is increasingly becoming a dead weight and anti American. Trumps approach may be harsh, but it doesn't change the immediate need for review in US-EU relationship.

Good, I'm happy people are saying things how it should be. This is the beginning of the best for Nigeria otherwise there will be nothing for her except misery. You can't insult, accuse and persecute a whole nation with great potential and personality and expect a positive outcome. It is like an ocean, you can only cause a turbulence at a section and it remains calm at the other. It cannot be suppression nor contained else it consume you.
