haywhy17: I have an update on a reply here but before I do that. How are you guys that are already in the US having straight A in your courses?. Because I don’t understand how I am expected to have 90+/100 in a course to get an A. What happened to 70 (A) The moment you're in the US as an international student, academic excellence should be your utmost pursuit. The rewards could beat your imagination. The system has been designed for you to excel if you work hard. You'd need to be involved every week, from start to finish of each semester in the courses you take in other to make 90+As or atleast 80Bs. You'd have to participate in classes, turn in assignments, take Midterm exams, execute projects, and do your finals fantastically, some could be open book. Also, Anything below a grade 80B is not just poor but dangerous especially if you're on funding/scholarship because It could be the end to your TA/RA. Again, you are expected to be academically driven, talented and enthusiastic to have one. If you're in STEM, the importance of your fundamental skills in Programming ( Python, C++, MATLAB) and Mathematics can not be overstated as it could make or mar your academic performance. PS: I took an AI & GNSS course, everything was on strictly on Python and MATLAB respectively. |

Anonymousqueen: Good day to all the gurus in the house… your help is needed please. I have applied for a master program in Western Illinois university, study program is Accountancy . I’ve submitted all the requirements until I received the attached screenshot lately. I didn’t know I was supposed to write GMAT. Someone out there should kindly put me through on what next to do. Your best option is to defer to next admission session (Spring) and get other required documents before the coming deadline.... Or put in for some other schools that won't be needing such Test for spring in take. Overall, that's why I tell people to do their findings and the take standardized test (GRE/GMAT/TOEFL) first, you might end up not using any but it wouldn't harm you if you do take them. |

Ladycecee: Hello Guys,
Please I would like someone to kindly shed light on this. What is the implication of cancelling an already interview appointment.
Is it possible to cancel a scheduled Visa appointment to change the location? For example, a scheduled appointment in Abuja to be canceled and then location changed to Lagos.
Thank you. Sure, you can. Although you'd have to work hard again to get to this stage as priority would not be given to you to book a new date at another location. You might not necessarily need to pay for a new visa fee. |

walerush: Hello house,
Someone with a full tuition waiver and GA with a deficit of less than $5k, What should he fill under "Who is paying for your trip" in the DS-160 application form?
Should it be the school or family? Family! Remember, you didn't get your I-20 without an SOA because it is not a Zero deficit. The name on the SOA/I-20 is what you should put. |

Ehimare55: Please guys do you know of a school I can get maybe scholarship for PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Information Technology. Thanks A better way of asking this question is to tell us what you've put forward to deserve one. In other words, What are your profile, experience, and research interests? This is because, ideally, no body can tell you for certainty where you'd get funded. |

The international loan that has my school on it has a co signer of Us Citizen. How do I go about this? You'd have to secure a surety to stand the chance of obtaining the loan. Otherwise, you can work towards getting a funded GA from your Department. |

kidsquare: Guys, I need help. I have been offered admission for Fall 2022 in the US and my I-20 has been sent to me. I have two different questions I'd like to ask. The first one is: I was awarded a GTA funding for the first 12months but my I-20 is showing funding for 9months while I was awarded a GTA funding for 12months. Is this a mistake from my school and will the 9months of funding be enough for documentation at the US embassy for an interview?
My second question is. I have completed my DS-160 application form and have paid all necessary fees but while booking an appointment today, 7th April 2022, I am seeing appointments dates that are well over my program start date which is 22nd August 2022. I am told that I need to request an expedited appointment. But on the instructions on the portal, u can't book an expedited appointment until u are within 60days to your school start date. For me, I will be within that 60days around the 22nd of June, 2022. What do you suggest I do guys? Should I go ahead and request for the expedited appointment or I should wait till that June while using the opportunity to check if any closer dates have been released. Pls, I need your suggestions and advice. Thank you. Congrats on your GTA! No worries about the 9months on your I-20, it doesn't affect your chances, if you have no deficit. Do you? The funds should cover your expenses for your first year which is below 12months. About appointment dates, really can't say, seems the modus Operandi has changed. |

mojolajesu: I have seen a guy here that got his VISA through MPOWER loan. I guess he was lucky tho he combined substantial partial scholarship plus the loan to cover the remaining.
I have been denied twice using the loan plus family funds.
I wouldn’t advise anyone to use Loan sincerely. Especially from this part of the world, It’s not a sure way. Take a break, do your research, and put in a great deal of effort in your subsequent applications (assuming you're not quitting) and ensure you secure a full funding/GTA/GRA or fellowship. With a full ride, every other factor becomes insignificant, not even your age, travel history or previous rejections. However, in all of these, you have to be gainfully employed or be engaged in something meaningful that resonates well around your academic pursuits. The importance of a zero deficit I-20 for your visa and life here can not be overstated. You'll love yourself for it. PS: The home ties the VO mentioned is just a cliche, it is actually the summary of that rejection paper, do not fall for it. |

Faheezah1: Hello house, please I need your input on my DS-160. I am currently filling out the employment part of my application. I currently work for a pharmaceutical company, but on the side, I also work voluntarily as a research assistant for my MSc supervisor and other lecturers in the department. I have been doing this on and off since 2019. Through this, I’ve been able to get my name on many publications and also attend conferences where I presented the results of our research. Now, I want to add this to my employment but because it is unpaid employment, I am finding it difficult to know the section to put this You ought to include your research position with all activities done. It doesn't matter whether you volunteered or fully employed, you can always add all the positions you've been engaged in or where you're currently working on your DS 160. Especially those roles that support your pursuits for graduate education. I also volunteered for a Prof. during my time, so there's no iota of harm In doing so. Your sole purpose on the day of your interview is to convince your VO why you need a visa. Use all you've got positively. |

BlackCave: Greetings to everyone.
Thank you for the good work.
I recently got a PhD offer from Washington State University.
I would like to seek your guidance on the embassies (Lagos or Abuja) with which I should book an appointment.
Thank you. Ideally, choosing an embassy should depend on your location and available dates - but it seems you want us to tell you where your visa will be approved. If you are not 100% funded, I'll advise you pick Abuja. But ultimately, they render the same service and this decision is solely yours. |

So I want to know what his chances are before we start the process, if they accept third class. And is there other schools that do aside Lincoln? It's possible but The exact GPA matters here. You would need to improve your overall application profile. It should be possible with a whole lot of work to do. You can send me an email if you want more details. |
