Family friend is a no go area as well as all of your life savings. Go get partial or full funding, then you can add yours.

Whether you get fully funded or not, it's never compulsory you go with your family. It's a matter of choice and its only easier to go with them when you're fully funded.

Well, I'd advise you go with your uncle as sole sponsor, especially if your deficit is far larger than your savings - assuming you didn't get any funding. However, if it's not more than $2k dollars, then be your sponsor.

Combination of sponsors is not always easy to defend.

If you have been funded, it's not outrightly compulsory you get a letter to that effect.

However, ensure your funding is well reflected on your I-20, that's what matters.

It wouldn't help your situation as it will not be requested by the VO. Focus on your delivery, and your use of words. It's not a document review session but a verbally-inclined interview process.

Use the person whose name is on the SOA that got you the I-20. That is your sponsor or yourself.

He was influential in my choice of undergraduate school where he also graduated from in 1995. So, when I told him I was offered a 70% yearly tuition, he was willing to help me maximize the opportunity by supporting me financially.
(VO kept typing then he just stretched his hand towards the blue paper section. At this point, I muttered “God” and went blank. I honestly didn’t hear the first part of what he said. It most probably would have been around “…not qualified today…”.
As I was about taking the paper from him, I looked at him and he said, “ask for more scholarship”.)

I have reached out to the school, and I was told that’s the most scholarship they give to international student and the department has no funding to add now. GAs and TAs are for PhD students but can be lobbied for when in school.
I am thinking of requesting for anther I-20 from my school and including personal funds alongside my uncle’s. My uncle’s SOA had more than the deficit, but I didn’t get to present it at the interview. This is just to show there’s been a difference since my last interview. I intend to apply to Abuja this time.

I need advice on the possible next step. I just want to know if there are other things I am missing.

Solution: it's either you get a better funding with less deficit or non at all. You didn't convince the VO enough that your uncle has the means to sponsor you. It could have been easier if your sponsor was your Father as $27K is no small bill from an extended family.

I don't see how $18k is 70% of your total tuition and living expenses, yet your deficit was well above that.

VO: Who's paying the bill?
You: (Give a comprehensive answer. Don't let him ask questions one after the other like you let him did).....it doesn't look like you were prepared that way.

Apart from the $18k tuition waiver, I will be sponsored by my uncle Mr. ABC who is the CEO of XYZ, a company that majorly distributes engine lubricant...... Also, he's a real estate entrepreneur that has sold several landed properties..... In all, he has about 100 employees in both of his ventures.

1. It's doable but tedious - if you enjoy doing things the harder way. (Spring effect)

Please keep quiet. Not all universities verify degrees from universities overseas. It is only when the individual wants to apply for permanent residency that immigration department starts doing a thorough check.

Have you heard of background check in academics?, Well, my school does it before you leave your country for the US and it's a common process, sometimes, it goes on even as you're a student. The topic was US Universities and not all oversea schools as you mentioned.

I'm a grad student here and I've aided many in the process to come study, so I have seen the process from a birdeye's view. There's no way you'd come with fake credentials, or you won't attend a school (in Nigeria) you claimed to have attended and get here without authorities knowing about it - even admissions department will remind you this during orientation.

It is not just about picking new appointment dates, I hope your situation has changed and you work on the reason(s) you were recently denied the visa.

Not all universities. If the school accepts transcript from the student what are they verifying. Or if they trust their agent and the agent doesn't verify? It's only if they request for direct transcript from the university you can say they verify.

I won't argue with you because I am telling you from experience - it's my field. About 90% of Universities ask for official transcripts during or after you would've been admitted. Those that won't ask will tell you do Official WES Evaluation which is even tougher. There's no way you can use fake transcript. Chicago State University is top school here. Not all those with original documents are even admitted.

If you don't like Tinubu that doesn't mean you'd say he forged papers to get into a prestigious school and the school wouldnt know.

Lot of schools abroad don't really verify. You can submit a perfectly forged education document and they will admit you once you can pay school fee. Some rely on their in country agent to help verify, and that can be easily manipulated. Everyone is looking for money.

Later on they can now take back their certificate if they realise its a fake result the student used and its about to cause a scandal.

Now this is not correct. Universities here in the US do verify what ever you claim you have well before you resume as an admitted students. Stop spreading lies.
