Gptech: Why not get something like this? Earpieces with 3.5mm jack are still the best to deliver great performance to price ratio, plus they are the most versatile. Hydronium: I live in Akure, so apparently poor, if any, 4G coverage. But I have 4G glo, airtel and etisalat Sims, all of which I've tried on the tab to no avail. It recognises that there's a 4G sim in it, but it shows no network coverage until I'm connected to wifi. MTN 4G is available in Akure. Signal should be okay in popular locations. |

acekid109: miui 10 on note 4 doesn't play nice, xiaomi nuked it right from the beta releases then, not sure they ever fixed it. It works quite well in custom roms though I am just hooked on MiUi, even though I use a custom rom "RevOS" it is still MiUi based. Until I upgrade to an higher model, gcam will have to rest. |

IKON360: ADM Pro is better than UC browser for downloading Switched to IDM since I noticed ADM sometimes refuses to resume downloads that are originally labelled "resumable" this has resulted in wasted data on many occasions. Based on my experience on both, IDM is way better and polished than ADM. It can also download torrent files , though I haven't tried that feature yet. Search for it on rexdl dot com

genius43: I know, was avoiding a ban when it comes to computer issues.
But right now I think the new HDMI 2.1 offers more than the Type C in terms of frequency & resolution Not exactly and HDMI even has a newer standard 2.2. One thing for sure is that USB Type C/Thunderbolt is the most versatile and the future of ports on Laptops. |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 9:47pm On Jul 05, 2019 |
genius43: Same uses as a normal usb port, just that it is faster Damritoh: Thanks Boss The USB Type C port on most latest laptops are not just faster but also embedded with many functions especially when it is a Thunderbolt port. The Thunderbolt port can serve and not limited to the following: 1. Traditional connections of external devices like phones, tablets, external storage etc. at the highest transfer rate better than previous USB standards. 2. Additional port for power input for the laptop 3. Connect external GPU to the laptop 4. Connect to external display at the highest frequency and frame rate possible. More powerful than HDMI and DisplayPort. Importantly, the Type C port when fully implemented (i.e Thunderbolt) is like a swiss army knife of connection port on laptops and other mobile techs. However, you have to note that not all USB Type Cs are thunderbolt ports on laptops. |

ubev01: and those that just want to enjoy their phone the way it came and still updates when it comes? Do they still need to unlock? It is not necessary, but might be your saving grace when you knowingly or unknowingly brick your device. Reviving a bricked device through EDL mode is not easy especially for newbies. |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 10:09pm On Jun 09, 2019 |
An important tip for Newbies and seasoned Xiaomi users:
One of the important things you should do after you get your Xiaomi device is to Unlock the bootloader, especially when it is the Chinese Version flashed with Global rom. Global version users too should endeavour to unlock if you have it in mind to tweak and mod in future.
An unlocked bootloader will save you a lot hassles if anything goes wrong during tweaking, modding and simple processes like OTA updates.
All you will need to do is to download the latest fastboot rom and flash through MiFlash whilst the phone is booted to fastboot mode. An interesting bit is that, an option "save user data" when chosen in MiFlash, will ensure the user data is untouched and available after the new setup.
The only negative to an unlocked bootloader that I can't personally attest to is that the device "might" be less secure after unlocking, at least that is what Xiaomi states when you request for unlock permission. As for me, I am yet to experience any negative thing related to bootloader unlocking. |

GrifindorHouse: Chai... Remember last year when I tried to install Global ROM on my RN5 China, I did all the pre rituals as normal like BL unlocking etc.. Den comes the main installation through MI flash, So I forgot to uncheck the "flash and lock" option before clicking flash. Wen I noticed it, flashing process had already started, so no going back again. for my mind I was busy lamenting about how I'm going to stress myself unlocking the BL again not knowing that I've successfully put my device on the road to "Soft Brick" which could even lead to a Hard Brick. Las Las flashing finish successfully, device now started rebooting. While I was busy waiting to behold the new MIUI 10 update. I was greeted with greatest shock of my smartphone life, "This MIUI version cannot be installed on this device" bros, better piss catch me. Lol. I looked up looked down I was like, guy who send u sef, who send u!! I tried redoing the whole process again, nothing. Instead I was getting one "Edl error" message. Mehhn I almost lost balance. I could not even think straight.
So about an hour later I calmed down, den I started looking for solutions, funny how I didn't come here, lol. First I had to figure out what could have caused it which I later did. I was made to understand that Global Roms cannot be installed on a locked (Bootloader) RN5 China (which I did), if u do the fone will brick. That's why all RN5 China with global roms come with an unlocked Bootloader.
To cut the long story short, i spent almost 2 weeks looking for solutions, which was no where upto many users who stayed upto 3 months without a solution to it. I found help from the most unlikely sourc, a YouTube tutorial video with just 196 views, when thousands of users lined up on forums like XDA, MIUI, android authority etc looking for help and found none.
The experience really opened my eyes and made help understand how powerful and secured xiaomi devices really are. With all due respect, this your post doesn't in any way point to a specific solution for users that presently find themselves in the situation you pointed out. What is now the essence of this post? Why not share the exact steps and appropriate links? |
