When you are experiencing heavy data usage, the first thing to do is to check your data usage statistics and not to start blaiming the ISP.
Monitorong your data usage statistics will give you a better insight into which app and services are utilizing your data the most. I believe the popular Social media apps like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram Snapchat etc are the major culprit in this regard.
Check the "Sync" settings, especially the Gallery. Ensure it is not set to sync your Photos with the cloud automatically.
If after monitoring the usage you now find out the usage statistics doesn't correspond with what your ISP is showing you as the remaining balance, then we can conclude you are being shortchanged. |

2kurupt: I gave my suggestion to the person complaining about MTN zapping his data. Rather than nitpicking on my opinion & suggestions to his problem why not give him yours?
Everybody's opinion on this forum is subjective so I don't see why you want to coerce I and others to accept your point of view.
This over-sabi attitude is why I sometimes jump & pass some comments on this thread.
Cheers. And claiming "MTN data is a scam" is a good opinion right? How exactly does this your statement help anybody here? Call it nitpicking or whatever you like, I am not one to let unfounded statements like the one you made go by when I can correct such notions. When others come now with the same issue you won't be here to defend your wrong claims. State what is correct and not overzealous incorrect statements like "MTN data is a scam". Over sabi yen yen! Same person calling another person MTN staff because they called you out for claiming unfounded things. |

genius43: You are right about Airtel short-changing people of data.
First of all Night plan. I have tested it so many ways as much as using another network to pick up download link and keep it in my downloader mostly ADM Pro the maximum Airtel allows is 235mb out of 250mb.
Second, normal data I downloaded a file of 200mb and I restricted background process check my data before I started when I was done Airtel deducted almost 300mb from my available balance.
Third Airtel binge plan. The day I upgraded my phone to android pie, I did Airtel binge plan of 2Gb and the upgrade was supposed to be 1.6Gb and after the upgrade I was left with less than 100mb.
Moving on, MTN had been honest with data deductions but of recent they have been overzealous with it. If not for poor network in most places, Glo have been quite fair though I have noticed some abnormalities atimes when I do their weekend plan. Maybe you seff na MTN staff |

2kurupt: MTN staff I've noticed you.
Meanwhile in other news, Airtel & Glo still gives more value for money so far data is concerned.
End of story. Still don't know what brought about this sha? We can all just accept most of us work with Xiaomi on this thread with this your close minded conclusion at the bolded. |

yak: I was agreeing with u till the last sentence. Leading the pack in what ways biko. I know that 70% of ppl around who really use the Internet are either doing airtel or glo. If u check latest statistics from ncc, mtn is losing customers. Have u asked y mtn had to adjust dere prices from 1200 for 1.5GB to normal 1K others are doing and 1200 for 2GB?
My verdict remains "search for the network that serves u right and enjoy" For instance in my case, glo is super fast in my office but airtel can make u throw ur phone. On the other hand airtel in my house is so sweet but glo is frustrating. I use mtn because that's the only network I can use both at home and work without hbp We can all agree the last part of your post should be the most important right? |

Oyinlomobambam: How u take use am abeg? 1gb no reach 12hrs here o Check your data usage statistics, from there you will get the apps and services utilizing most data. The way I see it, you will end up needing to use less of some apps to keep your data. When the network is very good, it's easy to blame the ISP for your usage. There was a time I used Glo back then in Benin, my data lasted very well, but my battery suffer am because the signal was just average at best in my area. |

2kurupt: Conclusions you say? I know coz I and a whole bunch of persons I know first hand have been there.
Why should I be beating about the bush when people have been switching to glo or Airtel without modifying their device options and end up having more value for their money?
Usually before people start making this type of complaints they're already frugal with their data usage and wondering why it doesn't last. And I have heard first hand complaints of people getting short-changed by Airtel. I have even confirmed this personally on their Night plan on a few occasions. They will cut you off a few MB to the exhaustion of your data allocation. Other people have complained about their "double data" zapping. They give you 3GB and you end up being able to use 1.5GB. They might have corrected this, that I cannot confirm, but it was a major issue at one point. Concerning data usage, I track my usage all the time and MTN has never short-changed me data allocation wise, Never! I always get to use my allocated data. The exception to this was their Night Plan that gets cut off at exactly 3:30am instead of 4am, even with that, you still get to use your allocated 500MB. The Night plan has been revamped now and it is better albeit more expensive. I have utilised all the Primary ISP in Nigeria at one time or the other and I dare say MTN has arguably been the most consistent of all. And please, stop making a generalised statement based off your experience and a few others. MTN is leading the pack for so many reasons. |

2kurupt: Change your data provider. MTN data issa scam How do you guys reach this kinda conclusions sef? You didn't ask the guy the kind of apps he uses and how long he stays on them? What about auto sync of the gallery? Shey im untick am? I use 1GB for 3 days averagely on my device and it's just Whatsapp, Twitter and UCWeb that I use often others I use sparingly. I hardly stream videos with this sub and No Instagram. |

Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 12:02pm On Aug 11, 2019 |
genius43: Just go to any big accessories dealer especially those Tecno and infinix retailers, they normally have Oraimo accessories. You might not get this Halo but other good ones like extra bass are there. Thanks. However, I am very particular about this type because of the structure of the ear-tip. I find those common full in-ear type uncomfortable, it just never stays. |

chrisja: The price is just about 10k,so thats not the issue for me, I would be more hyped if the Mi 9T had an 8gb/256gb variant and that 60k plus difference of K20 pro is not an interesting proposition at this moment... I just tire for these companies self... From your comments, it appears your budget hovers around that 100k+ range and you wouldn't mind adding a little to it. If I were in your shoes, I would go for the Mi9T over the RN7pro. The former is just the better device overall in this context. |

Jayboltz: i just confirm it to be truely unlocked.should i continue with the fastboot flash or should i download miui v10.2.2.0 @ Scotweezy Check that link I sent earlier and download the lastest fastboot rom for Redmi Note 5. The way I see it, you will still end up needing to update to the lastest rom. Make sure you download the correct fastboot rom for your device. Once again, make sure you choose "save user data" option on the Miflash software. |

Jayboltz: the fastboot rom i downloaded is v9.6.4,the one on my phone b4 it got bricked was v10.2.2.0 hope it wont get hardbricked due to antiroll back ish if i flashed it into my phone @scotweezy If you read up, you will see @genius43 brought to our attention the issue of fake bootloader unlock. If it is the case, test point method might be your only saving grace. Modify: Use this link https://www.smartphones.how/repair/check-status-bootloader-locked-or-unlocked to check the true state of your bootloader unlock. genius43: All the people that have been affected, the solution so far have been to flash the Chinese ROM. According to XDA they claimed affected devices was as a result of fake UBL You have a good point sha. The guy will need to download both the chinese and global fastboot rom then. The problem now is we are not exactly sure the brick happened as a result of fake unlock bootloader. If it is the case, the flashing won't go through at all. He might probably need to go through test point method like others before. |
