Lavoca:Check this link: https://www.technobuzz.net/flash-miui-fastboot-rom/ I want to assume you are not exactly a noob since you found a way to flash a recovery, but that should still not deter you from reading and understanding those steps very well before you start. Note: there are three(3) options below on the Miflash interface: 1, Clean all; 2, Clean all and lock; 3, Save User data. Ensure you don't thick the "Clean all and lock" option, because if you do, your bootloader will be relocked. Choose "Clean all" instead, provided you've done proper backup of your data.i.e syncing of notes, contacts and messages to MiCloud; and manual backup of your photos and media. I will advise you find a way to manually backup just the apk of user apps, don't backup their data. This will ensure the apps won't have conflict with the new rom. Ps: make an exception for apps like whatsapp that their data can be very important. |
Lavoca:Chinese rom! ![]() |
Lavoca:I want to assume you didn't face the "screen failing to respond to touch" that I faced. If you didn't, then you can carry on. On the "disable data encryption" disable all the passwords and patterns you utilize presently. |
Lavoca:I would advise you use the fastboot route, why? A lot of shit could happen since you're moving not just from a major android version to another but also MiUi versions. And I noticed something on a new redmi 5 plus I helped updated a few days ago. First and foremost, I unlocked the bootloader(had to wait for 72hrs before the bootloader unlocked) On booting to two different custom recoveries(orange fox and official TWRP), the screen failed to respond to touch, Infact! It failed to respond at all on the orange fox recovery whereas it did an "on & off" on the TWRP. I did a lot of back and forth and even ended up bootlooping on one occasion and eventually soft-bricking the device. I was lucky the phone was still booting back to fastboot which afforded me the opportunity to rectify the soft-bricked state the phone was in, by downloading the Fastboot rom and flashing with the Miflash tool. Summary: If data is not an issue, save yourself the imminent occurrence of soft-bricking by downloading the fastboot rom of the latest update and flashing through MiFlash tool. Note: If you're reading this and you're planning to use the official custom TWRP recovery, kindly download the "Lazy flasher Dm verity.zip" This file should be flashed before rebooting into system, in order to ensure your device doesn't bootloop immediately you're done in the recovery. Failure on my own part to flash that zip apparently caused the bootloop I faced. Also, don't forget to disable any form of encryption on your device before flashing any recovery. The above was just my experience on the Redmi 5 plus, It was mostly smooth sailing with my Redmi Note 4 Global. Though some of the points above should be taken into consideration whilst planning a journey of Xiaomi flashing ![]() |
leksymaxy:Congratulations to you and wifey on the delivery of them bundles of joy. Your car will be found hopefully. |
daveP:If a couple decides not to have child(ren) even if they are perfectly medically okay, are they breaking any law? You can also substitute the "couple" above to "woman". If your answer to any of the above is No, then you have not really made any reasonable point if we put into consideration the fundamental rights of individuals. |
IKON360: bros! Every other phone engineer dey learn for your side! ![]() |
naijaxplorer:This is gonna be very hard bro. This same thing happened to a member on here with exact device as yours and after trying everything possible to unbrick he had to sell the phone for parts. You can contact @RAJrifik, he might be able to help you. |
MeshachMARTINS:I am more concerned about those loaves of bread being on the rug ![]() |

Maxcoded:You might probably end up paying custom fees(that may rise to as much as 6k or more) and you will only be able to get the global rom model compared to the global version model you will be getting on jumia. At the end of the day, it is still an okay device and another plus is the fact that it is still trendy and a good alternative to the notch carrying models flooding the market of recent. At times the additional 5-7k might be difficult to squeeze out after you consider the fact that you will still need like 3k for accessories, if not, getting the Redmi note 5/6 is a better all round deal if the fund is available. |
Maxcoded:Nah! I beg to disagree. Point to a better spec'ed device you can easily get at that price in Nigeria i.e.Get within few days of ordering. It's only the Redmi note 5 and 6 you can get with a little bit of added cash, and it will take a couple of weeks to get it. |
@Ifedith came through with my jumia order, even though jumia canceled two preceeding orders thanks to their Black friday promo before this 3rd one finally came through at the normal 52k+ price. He is a great guy with good customer relations. I never had second thoughts on dealing with him even when jumia was a bit slow with refunding when they canceled the initial orders.

aktem:You flew from comparing Infinix Note 5 and Redmi Note 4 to comparing the infinix with Redmi Note 5. Who the Bleep does that? ![]() I doubt you understand jack shit about any of the things you're stating on here. Do yourself some good and check the internet well and stop all these BS. |
Mustiboy:Like I stated earlier, that should be your next point of call if nothing changes by end of today. No matter what happens don't leave there unless they give you your package. |
Suarez190:Cc: optimised |
Mustiboy:If there is a functional PO at Akungba, protocol demands the package should be moving there next. But If there is anything I can deduct from the tracking, those people aint really ready to move anything again. Go to the PO in Owo and show them these tracking details, they will find the package for you. Modify: you can wait and check the status by Tuesday, if nothing changes do as I stated above. |
adamix:That is the least a good friend should do, at least for the main time. Las las! Money will be refunded. |
Maxcoded:Bro! A good friend will give you benefit of doubt. What exactly has happened that he has already started threatening? ![]() |
Mustiboy:My conclusion: the guy is nothing close to your friend. ![]() |
Anyone here with a good deal on a new Redmi 5 plus 3/32GB black? readily available one will be preferred. |
@fibonacci2526 sorry for your loss dear. My yoruba people will say "ilé ọba tójó ẹwà ló bùsi" better blessings on the way. |
Eeechenmeelee1:Check your settings very well. The option to disallow toggles on locksceen is there. Modify: Well, I can't seem to find the option, but I felt I disallowed this particular feature on another version entirely. Maybe the option is not available on MiUi 10 again I will check further though, incase It's still available. |
queenfav:I don't want it to appear like I am discrediting your experience, but the audio issue you are having sounds quite unbelievable (no offence). My device, a Redmi note 4 global came with MiUi 8 android 6 and I have updated all the way up to MiUi 10 developer, currently on a custom rom based on MiUi 10 and the audio has never taken a hit. The first few weeks I got my phone back in early 2017, I had to use the common Nokia earphone that comes with all these Nokia featurephones and it sounded nice and was usable pending the time I got something better. So, the Redmi note 5 sounding way worse than a Tecno that cost less than 3800 really got me thinking about all the wonders in Life My personal conclusion is that: your taste has gotten so high that anything lower than your expectation when it comes to audio will hardly suffice or it is an hardware problem. We still can't cancel out a bug related to software, so you can either factory reset or download the latest update available for your device and factory reset after the first boot to ensure bugs are not carried over from previous software versions. PS: I don't see myself as an audiophile but I think my ear still works fine ![]() |
