What is it with APC states and human parts depots? https://www.theheraldng.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Ilorin-20140630-00764.jpg https://www.theheraldng.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Ilorin-20140630-00763.jpg https://www.theheraldng.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Ilorin-20140630-00758.jpg https://www.theheraldng.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Ilorin-20140630-00757.jpg |
We are miffed to alert you to the stunning discovery of a killers’ den believed to be the hideout for people dealing in sales of human parts in some blocks of uncompleted building along Airport/ Eyenkorin Road near NASFAT village, a suburb of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, yesterday, 30thJune, 2014. This yet another horrific situation is coming on the heel of a public alarm raised recently by the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressives Union (IEDPU) on the alarming rate of kidnapping, ritual killings and cultism in the state. This yet another horrific situation calls for sober reflection from all and sundry as this has further opened the wounds of the people who are battling maladministration in the midst of plenty under the ruling APC. While PDP, as a party, is sad about this horrendous event which has consumed people whose number could not be immediately ascertained, we will not however be intimidated from putting blame where it rightly belongs. From all intents and purposes, the discovery of the House of Horror by the police in a suburb of Ilorin, on the tip-off of vigilant residents, is an indication of a government that has gone asleep while the state burns under unprecedented insecurity. Before the APC accuses us of politicization, which is their regular mantra when serious socio-economic and security concerns are genuinely raised by our party, they should be reminded that the primary function of the government of the state is the security of the lives and properties of the helpless populace. Unfortunately, there has been a clear abdication of this responsibility, leading to the killings of several innocent lives and destruction of property. Even when our Party raised an alarm recently about the killing of a defected member of the PDP, Master Tajudeen Eba, by thugs suspected to be APC agents, all what we got in return was a deliberate cover-up and factual misrepresentation by a political party that has now made lies and half- truth the centre-piece of its manifestoes. Till today, nothing has been heard either about the gruesome murder of Mr. Tajudeen or the alleged mastermind of the fracas, a certain ‘Gbajamo’, a wanted notorious thug that the government was reported to be on the list of those being sponsored by the Kwara State Government for this year’s Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca. From the inception of the present APC government, Kwara has been moving from frying pan to fire in terms of insecurity. From unprecedented rate in incidences of cultism, to ritual killing and kidnapping, the state has never had it so bad. Kwara has, quite unfortunately, gained a notoriety of being the ‘Headquarters of Kidnappers and Ritual Killers in the North-Central Geopolitical zone’, as derisively published by a soft sell magazine recently. We now begin to wonder what in actual fact the Kwara State Governor, Mr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has been using his over N200million Security Votes on over the past years. What are his arrays of appointed security advisers doing, despite huge amount of public funds funneled into those offices in the name of security? It is obvious from the items found and emerging testimonies that the den had been in existence for long and the residents even told us that they usually see jeeps and exotic cars with official government cars within the area. It is an indictment on Kwara government’s moral character that for years this illicit practice of callous killings of fellow beings for envisaged selfish gains, keeps soaring right under the nose of the Kwara State Government. In conclusion, we commend the vigilant residents around the scene of the crime for proving timely intelligence to the police, who in turn rose up to their responsibility with the speed of the light. We ask them to keep up with this patriotic duty, especially in the light of the inexplicable non- challance of their government to their security. We urge the Federal Government, Nigerian Police Force, Human Rights Commission and civil societies to investigate this matter and get to the root of it, lest those who have been killed in this den will die in vain. The Petroleum Tankers Drivers Association, PTDA, yesterday insisted that Wednesday night’s explosion in Lagos was caused by a bomb-laden vehicle and not gas cylinder or petrol tanker. http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/lagos-explosion-caused-by-bomb-tanker-drivers-insist/ |

LAGOS CAR BLAST: Fear grips residents, workers in Apapa https://dvsl3w2q45hb8.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Apapa-lagos-blast.jpg Palpable fear has gripped residents and workers at Apapa area of Lagos State, following Wednesday night’s car bomb explosion that killed about four persons and left many others injured at the Folawiyo axis of Creek Road, Apapa. Meanwhile, security operatives have shut down business activities between Trebor Roundabout (near A.C. Christlieb) and Alex Junction on Creek Road, areas that were badly affected by the explosion. Operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal, EOD, Unit of the Nigeria Police were also at the scene at about 7a.m., carrying out post-blast investigations, while the Nigerian Navy and policemen from Area B Command cordoned off the area, preventing motorists and pedestrians from accessing the scene. Workers that resumed for work at the early hours of yesterday were turned back by security personnel. Some workers, who spoke with Vanguard, lamented the poor state of security in the country. ‘I wonder where we’re heading’ Adaobi, a staff of the company whose building was affected by the blast, told Vanguard that she could not come to terms with the fact that insurgency is now at her doorsteps. She said: “I cannot believe what I have seen today. I have been thinking that all these bombings and killings occurring in the northern part of the country, which I read about in the papers, will never get to the south. “I have never thought that Boko Haram, whose aim, I think, is to create an Islamic Caliphate in the entire northern Nigeria, would ever come to the south. But what I have seen today is shocking. “When I looked at my office building, I discovered that the glasses on the entire building were destroyed by the blast and I wondered where we are heading to.” Another staff of a company located around the axis, who gave his identity simply as Shola, called on the security agencies to live up to expectations. He said: “This is a shame for a government that has sworn to protect us. This has shown clearly that our security agencies are deeply confused. They are yet to come to grips with what insurgency is all about. “With this bombing, they have shown clearly that they lack the ability to gather and analyse intelligence reports effectively, which I also think is the only way to prevent attacks such as this from happening. “I would admit that I have not lost complete hope in our security agencies, but I would admonish them to live up to expectations because our lives are in their hands.” Residents alarmed over presence of aliens However, some residents of Apapa, who spoke with Vanguard, said they now live in fear following the incident, also called on the Police and other security agencies to checkmate the activities of aliens who have no business being in the area. The residents also called on Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA, the Customs Service and the Police, to reduce increasing spate of traffic gridlocks that has made life unbearable for residents and others doing business in the area. Charles Nwachukwu, a resident of Pay Crescent said:”Apapa in now filled with aliens; I mean, people who have no business being here and they have been operating unchallenged. I am scared terrorists may have exploited this situation to attack our area.” www.vanguardngr.com/2014/06/lagos-car-blast-fear-grips-residents-workers-apapa/ |
First they called it a petrol Tank ''fire'', then a gas cylinder explosion, then a car explosion (as if Boko haram doesn't use any of those for their attacks), but some of us knew that it had all the hall marks of a Boko haram attack. The truth is gradually coming out..... https://saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/news-page-images-480-wide/page_images/news/2014/unnamed-1.jpg Contrary to information sent out by Lagos State officials that yesterday’s explosion in the Apapa area of Lagos came from a gasoline tanker explosion,SaharaReporters has now learned that the frightening event was a car bombing. Two security sources disclosed that the explosion was apparently carried out by a female suicide bomber and was aimed at igniting several gasoline depots in the area. The 9.15 p.m. explosion happened Tuesday on Creek Road near the Burma Road junction. One security source said the explosion could have triggered a massive inferno and inflicted a horrifying scale of casualties as well as damage to properties in the Apapa area, which is both a residential area as well as the hub of economic activities, including shipping, manufacturing, and storage of petrochemical products. Our source said the suicide bomber apparently sought to ignite a series of gas distribution plants and gasoline depots owned by Folawiyo Energy some 150 meters away from the site of the explosion. Some four persons were killed by the explosion, among them the female suicide bomber who drove a Mercedes Benz car that caused the explosion. Eyewitnesses said the head of the female driver lay on the ground next to the Mercedes Benz used in the bombing. The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Kehinde Adebayo, had told reporters that the explosion was from a gasoline tanker. On their part, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) told SaharaReporters that there was a major fire outbreak on Commercial Road in Apapa on Tuesday morning. One official said the fire raged between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. before it was contained by firefighters, adding that one federal firefighter was injured as he fought the fire. The Federal emergency officials said they were denied entry to the scene of the car bomb and were excluded by Lagos officials from participating in the rescue and recovery process, in an apparent move to hush up the news of the bombing. Even though LASEMA claimed that the 9.15 p.m. explosion was a gas cylinder explosion at a facility owned by Folawiyo Energy Limited (FEL), the management of the company issued a statement dissociating itself from the claim. A statement signed by the company’s media consultant, Muyiwa Adekeye, said the explosion did not happen on its premises. An account by Vanguard newspaper that first pointed to evidence of a car bombing suggested that Boko Haram militants might have targeted the farm tank with highly inflammable material packed in a Mercedes Benz car in order to avoid detection and cause grave damage. Although the car exploded beside a loaded gasoline tanker, the tanker did not catch fire. The apparent car bomb will be the first in Lagos since the Boko Haram insurgency entered its most violent stage in 2009. http://saharareporters.com/news-page/lagos-explosion-was-car-bombing |

Obasanjo talked, talked, talked and did nothing. Everything Obasanjo talked about GEJ is silently doing it plus more. It is like some Nigerians prefer someone who will tell them sweet words everyday and do nothing, than someone who does what he needs to do without talking much. |
