Babygal4eva:
I don't belive it's a must... my cousins didn't do their's in our village so why should I? my village is a fetish place according to my Mum so going to do your trad wedding there is at your own risk.

Two of my cousins recently did their weddings and they both did both the trad and white on the same day in Lagos and the village people came so it's not a must in my opinion. I'm Igbo by the way
Your Mom is a whoree and you are a disgrace for typing such senseless thing in public.

CrimeUndergraduate Imprisoned For Defrauding American Lady Of $1,100 by sCun(op): 2:33pm On Nov 13, 2014
NAN reports that an Ikeja High Court on Thursday sentenced to 30 months imprisonment an undergraduate, Rilwan Adedigba, for defrauding an American woman, Zen Cariboso, of $1,1000 (N176000) dollars through an internet love scam. According to NAN, Justice Kudirat Jose sentenced 26-year-old Adedigba to 30 months imprisonment
after he pleaded guilty to the offences during his re-arraignment. The judge convicted Adedigba, who claimed to be a student of University of Cairo, Egypt, of five counts
of stealing and possession of fraudulent
documents preferred against him. She consequently sentenced him to six months
imprisonment on each of the counts. According to her, the sentence is to run
concurrently beginning from June 8, when he was arrested for the offence. NAN also reports that Jose ordered the convict to refund the 1,100 dollars to the victim as restitution. She also ordered him to forfeit the car he had bought from the proceeds of his crime to the Federal Government of Nigeria. The judge asked Adedigba to write an undertaking to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
EFCC, to be of good behaviour after his release from prison. According to NAN, the convict had entered a plea bargain agreement with the EFCC. Narrating the facts of the case, the counsel to EFCC, Mrs Olubunmi Bosede, told the court that Adedigba committed the offences on Jan. 30 in Lagos. Bosede said the convict falsely represented to Cariboso that he was Murphy Paul, a white American living in Nigeria, who was in love with her. She said Adedigba used the scam to obtain the money from the woman. NAN reports that the prosecutor said that the offences committed contravened Sections 390 and 318 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

https://punch.cdn.ng/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Aminat-Akanni-360x225.jpg
The police in Lagos have arrested a woman, Aminat Akanni, for allegedly abducting two of her stepchildren and murdering one of them because she claimed her husband refused to provide Sallah clothes for her own son. PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect killed one of the kids, Nofisat, by pushing her into a soakaway. PUNCH Metro learnt that Aminat was arrested by the police at CMS Bus Stop, Lagos Island, on October 9. Our correspondent learnt that prior to the arrest, seven-year-old Lateef and four-year-old Nofisat had been declared missing on Friday, October 3- a day to the Sallah celebration. It was learnt that the father of the missing children, Moshood Mubo, who is also the suspect’s husband, had raised the alarm and reported the case to the Adeniji Adele Police Division on Friday, October 3. However, after the suspect’s arrest, she confessed to have abducted the two kids from Church Street, Lagos Island where they lived. She further confessed to have also killed the
younger, child, Nofisat, by pushing her into
soakaway beside a mosque in the Orile area. Our correspondent gathered that Lateef and Nofisat were pupils in Primary 1 and Nursery 2 classes respectively in a private school. Speaking with PUNCH Metro on Sunday, Moshood who hails from Ilorin, Kwara State, said his second wife, who he rented an apartment for in the Orile area, abducted the kids claiming that she wanted to “punish him for not buying Sallah clothes for her own son.” He said, “I married Aminat in 2010. In order to
avoid a crisis at home, I rented an apartment for her at Mosalashi Street, Alakara in Orile. She has only one son for me. His name is Yusuf. She does not come to Church Street, Lagos Island where I live with my first wife. “What happened was that on the evening of Friday,
October 3, when I returned from work- just a day to the Sallah celebrations- I sent the two children to go buy biscuits in front of the street. That was around 7pm. We expected them till around 9pm. I was shocked. I quickly rushed to the Adeniji Adele Police Division, and reported the incident. “Believe me, I and their mother, Funmilayo, could not sleep all through that night. We were walking around throughout the night from one police division to the other, repeating the same thing. The
whole Sallah celebration was a sad one as I looked for my two children. Little did I know that it was my second wife who sneaked into our area to abduct them.” Moshood, who spoke to our correspondent while fighting back tears, added that Aminat had called
him the following day, and made a suspicious
comment. He said, “The following morning, around 11am, Aminat called me and heard me crying on the phone. I told her that we were looking for Lateef and Nofisat, she simply said, ‘All I know is that no one can kidnap my own son.’ I was shocked at her statement, but I never thought she was the one behind the whole trouble. “It was six days later when the police arrested her that she then confessed that she committed the act because she claimed I was not taking care of her, and I had not bought sallah clothes for her son, which is not true. She had sneaked to our area, and
asked the two kids to follow her to Orile. This is unimaginable for me.” PUNCH Metro learnt that as the search for the two children continued, which took Mubo and his first wife to travel to Ilorin, Kwara State to consult their relatives and get ‘spiritual help’, a friend had called them on Thursday, October 9, that she saw Lateef with Akanni around the CMS Bus Stop, Lagos Island. The police were then invited who trailed her
movement and arrested her. The mother of the two children, Funmilayo, told PUNCH Metro that Aminat had bottled up grievances against her for a long time. She said, “Aminat killed my daughter. She made us to have a sorrowful Sallah. We were running around police stations. She said she wanted to punish me and my husband because she was having issues with us. So, why did she not come after us, why after my two children?” The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident, adding that Aminat was now in police custody. He said, “Aminat Akanni is the second wife of the complainant. Investigation revealed that the corpse of Nofisat was recovered by the Orile Division in a sudden and unnatural death. “The suspect confessed to have drowned the child and dropped the corpse at Orile. The case has now been transferred to the Orile Division for further synchronisation and action.”

PoliticsIn Ogun South West Nigeria, People Eat Live, & Trade In The Midst Of Dirt by sCun(op): 4:53pm On Sep 13, 2014
https://www.punchng.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/A-display-of-refuse-bags-along-the-road-in-Sango-Ogun-State.-360x301.jpg
A first time visitor to Sango, a town in Ogun State, few kilometres away from Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre, can hardly miss the sight of piles of dirt that line up the roads of the ancient town.
But strangely enough, this scenario does not stop the residents of this town from engaging in economic activities: from the meat seller to the soft drinks hawker, and also the fruit vendor, none of them bothers about the dirty environment they display and hawk their wares. More strangely enough, the buyers never seem to care, too. From the thirsty pedestrian who wants a soft drink to quench his thirst to the hungry bus driver (and his conductor) who needs the services of roadside food vendors, buying from these locals in the midst of heaps of refuse do not seem to be a source of worry. It is often said that first impression lasts forever, but this saying may not seem to bother the residents of Sango, Ota, Alagbado, and other areas where our correspondent visited in Ogun State.
As a first time traveller to the town, Oluseyi Oyegbade said she thought the piles of dirt were a sort of exhibition by the locals until she realised it was not so. Having been to Dubai, an economic powerhouse in the United Arab Emirates, Oyegbade said, “One of the things that would certainly catch your first attention when you get to the city is the skyscrapers and the gorgeous-looking streets.”
But that is not so in this part of Ogun State because the piles of dirty bags that line up not just the inner streets, but also the major roads where vehicles and people ply, darken their potential beauty. On our correspondent’s visit to Sango, for instance, one would not be able to tell whether the people living and trading in the Roundabout area, the major economic hub of the town, had nowhere else to dispose their wastes other than the roads.
https://www.punchng.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Flood-in-Akobo-area-Ibadan-Oyo-State.jpg
Even if someone were blind, the odour that emanated from the piles of dirt on the road would tell him a bit about the situation in general. ‘Well- arranged,’ the refuse bags littered everywhere on the road. In this same area, foodstuff sellers were seen laying their wares along the road, not allowing the dirt to deter them from making their money. It was as if it was a sort of display, an exhibition – of dirty bags. “And this is the major business hub – which perhaps would have been thought to be the most attractive sight to behold in the town,” another first time visitor to the town, Abraham Olatunde, complained, Though there were about two large refuse disposal tanks near the roundabout, it was surprising people still prefer disposing their refuse on the road. There were more scenes of dirty piles to behold in Ota, another major town in the state. Right from the take-off from Sango to arrival in Ota, there was none other sight to behold along the road other than that of bags of refuse. Roads in other areas of the state like Alakuko, Agbado, etc. are not exempted from being used as refuse dump grounds. Poor hygiene is the bane of Africa health crisis “No one needs to be a rocket scientist to know that a dirty environment causes health problems. In fact,
the current Ebola outbreak in this part of the world is majorly linked with our practice of poor hygiene. This is just about common sense,” an Ota-based public health expert, Funmilayo Adesuyi, said. Adesuyi opined that diseases could only thrive in places where the people do not care about the maintenance of their environment, rather than their health. She said, “A people’s state of wellbeing starts from the way they regard their environment. If they ignore their outside environment but take care of themselves, they will still be back to zero level. “Even when people live in beautiful homes but operate in dirty environments, they may also suffer from the same set of diseases that those who live in the streets do. Why? Because they will not live in their beautiful homes forever; they would go out to buy meat from the meat seller who operates in a dirty environment, and they could fall sick from consuming such. The effects are innumerable. “A dirty environment is a fruitful place for bacteria to thrive. In fact, studies have shown that our aversion to dirt has resulted in widespread cases of asthma. And in our paranoia concerning germs and
dirt, we often use antibiotics carelessly, causing great damage to our human environment. “And by using anti-bacterial drugs, we end up killing useful life forms in us and strengthen the nasty ones. There are certain harms we have caused our body systems due to our dirty environment.” Adesuyi concluded that people should not wait on the government to get rid of dirt from their environment because in the end of it all, government does not suffer from possible outbreak of diseases; the people do. “People should learn to do certain things for themselves without calling on the government. Those people you see piling up the bags of dirt on those roads are not the government, they are the people. A man reasonable enough should know that it’s wrong because when disease breaks, it is not going to affect the government, but the people,” Adesuyi said. An Ibadan-based environmentalist, Mr. Femi Alao, said apart from a possible outbreak of diseases in Ogun State, if the residents keep piling up dirt in their streets, the environment also becomes more polluted and more species of animal become extinct because of their poor habitat. Alao stated that ensuring proper hygiene does not benefit only human beings, but also the animals that live in their environment. He also said there were many environmental challenges that were endangering the climate and survival of the living things therein, and that it is only through the proper management of the environment that human beings could survive the impending environmental crisis. He said, “Animals have rights, too, just like human beings. Nature too does. And what we turn this environment to determines the survival of all of us. Imagine people leaving rubbish lying around on our roads, apart from the danger it poses to our health, such rubbish either gets washed away and animals in the sea mistake it for food and it kills lots of them. “We are also talking about soil and water pollution which could arise from such a scenario. Each time it rains heavily in Ibadan here, for instance, it is always followed by flood which destroys lives and property. “So piling up dirt on the roads has multiple effects, apart from being a shameful act by the people. It is a bad behaviour on the part of the people because even if no one tells them, they should know. But if they keep doing that, I believe the Ogun State government could now also enforce more stringent
environmental laws.” Dirty environments lead to mental problems A psychologist, Mrs. Tolu Adegoke, said that there are studies that link depression in human beings to their dirty environment. Apart from depression, there are also a number of mental health problems that could arise from the scenario where people keep dirt in their homes or in the streets. She said, “For someone who comes all the way from a clean environment, setting their eyes on those dirty piles could make them feel depressed. There are studies that proved that. “Depression and other mental health ailments are conditions that people can get as a result of living in
dirty environment, especially for children. In fact, a dirty, messy or cluttered environment might be overwhelming to some kids, causing them to become aggressive, angry or violent due to the frustration caused by such environments. “It is therefore important that we learn to keep both our homes and our environments clean and tidy. It helps our mental health and even tells a story about our personalities.” An official of the Ogun State Environmental Task Force, who identified himself simply as Mr. Bello, told Saturday PUNCH that it was the act of disobedience on the part of the residents of the areas where our correspondent visited that was responsible for the scenario. He said, “We clean these areas everyday and there are even tanks which are placed at strategic places for people to dump refuse in, but they would not obey. We cannot work 24/7 and that is why those tanks are there. “But this is one thing we have discovered: once we finish cleaning these areas every morning, before we could say Jack Robinson, these people have placed those dirt bags on the road again. Inspection cannot be done at every minute of the day which is why these people are having a field day.” The Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ayo Olubori, could not be reached as of the time of filing this report as his phone number was unreachable.

A 23-year-old National Diploma, ND, student of Mass Communication Department, Ibarapa Polytechnic, yesterday, narrated how she was raped under a tree by one of the security men
attached to Operation Burst set up by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State to check criminality in the state. The incident was said to have happened in Eruwa from 10.30 pm on August 29 this year while she was returning after seeing off a friend. She said she was raped repeatedly for five hours before she was let off the hook by the rapist soldier. How it happened According to her, the soldier allegedly ordered her to climb the motorcycle while threatening to stab her with a knife. She said: “It happened on Friday, August 29, 2014.
I was coming back to my room after seeing off a friend. He accused me of being a cultist for moving about around that time, but I denied it. He then ordered me to climb his motorcycle, but I pleaded with him that he should let me go. “He removed a knife and said that he would stab me if I refused to obey him. So scared, I climbed the Okada and he took me to the Operation Burst office in Eruwa. “When we got there, he forcefully led me to a dark area under a tree and ordered me to remove my dress to enable him see if I had tattoos on my body. “I told him I did not have tattoos and that he should let me go. He then removed the knife again and said that he would slaughter me like a ram if I failed to ‘cooperate’ and that I would be buried like many other girls who had failed to cooperate in the past, and nobody would trace my death to him. “Sensing danger, I removed my clothes. He ordered me to lie down under the tree and had sex with me several times while I was crying. “He raped me till 3.30 am and I complained of catching cold. He entered into the office and brought out a bottle of beer. He gave it to me to hold for him. “Later he said he was going to bring a blanket for me to cover my body. I waited for about 30 minutes, but when he did not return, I dressed up and ran away.” Case reported at Police station The victim’s counsel, Mr. Adeosun, confirmed her
story, saying: “In the morning of Saturday, August 30, 2014, the victim called her parents on the telephone and told them what happened. It was the parents that came to brief our office. We thereafter advised that the victim should report to the Police Station at Eruwa, which she did.” When the matter was reported to the security outfit, the girl identified the rapist among other security operatives paraded before her. To worsen her ordeal, the Eruwa General Hospital where she went for test did not help matter. According to her, on arrival in the hospital, the doctor she met told her to buy hand gloves which she did. She said: “The doctor told me to lie down and use his phone torchlight to examine my private part and wrote a report that although there was no trace of semen, the private part had been tampered with.” It was gathered that the doctor claimed he could not carry out test on the inner part of the vagina because the hospital did not have the facilities to carry out such test. The victim’s lawyer said a soldier called him at 8.25 pm on Sunday informing him that the Army had commenced court martial trial on the indicted soldier, but that the student must appear to testify. Suspect recommended for disciplinary measure Responding, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, quoted the security outfit as saying it had recommended the suspect for disciplinary measure for abandoning his duty post. In a statement issued by the outfit’s Second in Command, CSP Elijah Bawa, “immediately the outfit was informed of the allegation of rape against the
said soldier, he dispatched an investigation team to Eruwa. “The team met with the Divisional Police Officer for the Eruwa Division, DSP Kayode Adigun who disclosed that the 23-year old Mass Communication student of the school lodged a complaint with the command that she had been raped by the soldier who was also an operative of the anti-crime outfit. “The outfit’s Second in Command and the DPO took the complainant to the Eruwa General Hospital for medical examination, the result of which they said proved negative. “The soldier will, however, be charged for abandoning his duty post in the night without permission against standing instructions in the Operation Burst’s code of conduct,” he said.

PoliticsBOKO HARAM: Attention Seeking Yoruba Babalawos Threaten Sheriff, Ihejirika by sCun(op): 7:06am On Sep 09, 2014
The Council of Babalawos in Northern Nigeria has called on security agencies in the country to investigate a former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff and Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika within 40 days otherwise it would be forced to sue the men for allegedly financing terrorism. In a statement signed by the association Chair, Mr. Fabunmi Aiyesoro and vice chair Mr. Ogunwale Ogunshola, the Council regretted that 48 of its members had died in the hand of the Boko Haram since 2011. “If the Federal Government refuses to do this, our
members shall resort to special prayers for 21 days for God’s wrath to befall Sheriff, Ihejirika, their fellow collaborators and Boko Haram members.’’ The council further called on the government to dislodge the insurgents from all the forests and villages in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states with immediate effect. “Our members source herbs from forests like Sambisa, Biu, Gwoza and Hong and taking over
these areas by this retrogressive group has denied us the opportunity of contributing to the health and well-being of the people. “Babalawos are Nigerians and deserve the same recognition accorded Imams and Pastors by government. Many churches and mosques havereceived compensation from state governments for the destruction of their places of worship but not a single Babalawo has received a condolence message or any form of monetary compensation since the Boko Haram problem started three years ago.’’

PoliticsGunmen Räpe, Rob Female Trainee Journalists In Lagos by sCun(op): 7:32am On Sep 08, 2014
Unknown gunmen reportedly stormed the Federal Radio Cooperation of Nigeria, FRCN, Training School, Lagos State, Friday, raping and robbing many of the female trainee journalists. It was gathered that it was the third time the armed men would be attacking the school. According to an insider, “The armed robbers were many. They attacked the school last week, last two weeks and now this week. They always rape the girls and dispossess others, including male students and workers on night duties of their valuables.” The three attacks on the school have left many of the workers shocked, especially as policemen were supposed to be manning the school gate. The last attack occurred at about 2am, with the gunmen targeting the financial records offices. Three of the gunmen wore masks and focused on the new BOND FM station, which has a lot of new expensive transmitting devices. “Many of them broke into our offices, remove burglar-proofs, raped girls who were in training and living in our hostel. They collected money, phones and laptops. This is the third time this will be happening,” said a staff. According to another insider, the school has male and female trainees drawn from across different radio stations in the country who are on special courses. There are also private students studying broadcast journalism. The insider added: “The gunmen are usually many whenever they attack. The first time they came, they appeared to be searching for something as they ransacked all offices. This time, they came with three or four men wearing masks. They were apparently the people who wanted something from the school or offices. When they came this time, they were the ones doing the frantic searching.
Whether they succeeded in getting what they wanted this time around is what we don’t know.” Police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, however said only a case of burglary was reported. “I just got to hear today that the place has been burgled three times. But they had never reported.
It’s only today that an official complaint was
lodged. No case of rape was reported. Nobody has come forward to say that she was raped,” she said.
