Politics / Jonathan To Negotiate With Boko-haram. by Seaen(m): 2:50am On Jul 31, 2011
Nigeria plans talks with Islamist group Boko Haram

Nigeria's government says it wants to start negotiating with Islamist group Boko Haram, which has been blamed for a series of recent attacks.
The government said a panel would open talks with the group and report back by 16 August.
There was no immediate reaction to the statement from Boko Haram.
The group, whose name roughly translates as "Western education is forbidden", is fighting to topple the government and create an Islamic state.
It led an uprising across a number of states in northern Nigeria in 2009, during which hundreds were killed.
In recent weeks it has been blamed for a series of bombings and shootings in Nigeria's north-east.
The government statement said President Goodluck Jonathan had appointed seven people, including the
ministers of defence and labour, to a negotiation committee.
It said the panel's role would be to act "as a liaison between the federal government , and Boko Haram and to initiate negotiations with the sect".
It would also work with Nigeria's national security adviser to ensure that security forces acted with "professionalism", the statement added.
The governor of the Nigerian state of Borno has admitted that the army has been guilty of excesses during operations to counter Boko Haram.
Most of Boko Haram's recent attacks have been carried out in the Borno city of Maiduguri.
It also claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing of the police headquarters in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, last month.
The negotiation panel is to be inaugurated on Tuesday.

All we need is a radical, patriotic and wise leader who will chart the course of change for a new Nigeria. But looking at our antecedents in leadership, how will such a leader evolve?

Gbawe:

Indeed. if a murder charge can be dropped against Teslim Folarin just to ensure he delivers for Jonathan in Abuja then any crime can be 'forgiven' as long as you 'assist' Mr. President. I have no respect for intelligent and well-read folks who back Jonathan. I can understand many unsophisticated and illiterate Nigerians voting for him because of visibility as incumbent and the ridiculous deification of authority figures but those of us who are well-read, exposed and able to think logically know that the evidence , and that alone , shows unambigously that Jonathan is bad news . He has done nothing of note so far as President other than using billions of Nigeria's money to make instant millionares and billionares of parasitic leeches and AGIPs everywhere. In a Country consisting sophisticated voters , who select their choice on merit and ability, Jonathan would struggle to poll 10 votes . He cannot , for example, be a serious contender , if Nigeria were the UK,  based on his performance so far. British people would simply shun him because his incompetence , dishonesty , callous profligacy,  insincerity and lack of integrity cannot possibly appeal to anyone.

Let us not fool ourselves . The likes of Anenih cannot ever back anyone who wants to lead for ordinary Nigerians . When GEJ has a 1000 Anenih's behind him why should any sane Nigerian expect anything progressive from his Government? All the most important offices that badly need to be filled with leaders of integrity , for Nigeria to stand a chance of making progress , are occupied with compromised reprobates . Wether it is EFCC boss , senate president, Chief justice of the federation, IG of police, AGF it is the same sad story of corrupt 'tools' promoted far above their station. Anyone who thinks we will see progress under GEJ can continue the wait to see pigs fly.

Right on point.
Politics / Re: Sanusi Lamido's Response To Sir Olaniwun Ajayi's Book by Seaen(m): 8:14pm On Feb 08, 2011
Wow, the guy hit the nail exactly at the head. Nigeria's problem might have stem from such tribal issues but the truth is that the present problems facing us is as a result of unionism work of corrupt representatives leaders in which every part of the country has a name on the list (Not equally shared though). So we should face the real issue if we still want to keep this country as one rather than blaming others for our irresponsibility, entertaining ourselves and fanning the flames of our ego with tribal issues. Therefore CORRUPTION must be vehemently addressed if we are really tired with the state of things. Nice one there Sir.
