I sent you an email request UnconventionalT: Hello everyone. My husband and I are expecting our baby soon and I want to have the baby in Canada, I recently got my Canadian PR visa and want to take advantage of that. I currently live in Europe and I plan to come into Canada before mid November. My plan is to do a soft landing, have my baby and go back to take care of myself and child before permanently relocating as a PR to Canada.
I have no one in Canada and will be landing for this purpose during winter, I need an accommodation in Alberta for a period of two months. Anyone in Alberta with an extra room in their house available for short term rent will be an ideal plan for me. I want to be around people as much as I can. I am also open to joining Alberta group for this purpose pls. I want to settle the accommodation as soon as I can. I am open to other provinces as well. |

NuCypher: Is $712 the total rent? or the shared component? I'm not female. Just asking for a friend.
Final question: are you one of those women who are renting houses they can't afford and then looking for somebody to share it with? Even though you posed this as a question, it's very rude and uncalled for! Make we dey try use our brain na |

[quote author=prettysassygirl post=110492417]I came to Canada with a visit visa Dec 2021. I got ppr recently, please how do I go about it.
My 2 cents; If i were in your shoes, I would explore presenting an hypothetical case to the immigration office and seek advice as to what to do. Worst case scenario you would return to Nigeria. Don't attempt to send your passport to Nigeria because it would prolly be in their records and on your passport that you entered Canada.... All the best!! |

I'm aware there is currently no "passport paper" in NYC. Don't know about DC & ATL I don't have an answer to your other questions. Teau: Hi all, I applied for study permit and i have received a mail requesting for mypassport but in theletter it states that my passport expiry date must cover my study period because permit expiry datewould be the same as my passport expiry date. My questions; 1. Is this possible? shouldnt it be the expiry date on the program not my passport? 2. if so i need to plan to process my Nigerian passport renewal. I am looking to renew in the USA.
Nigeria has 3 embassies in the US; New York,DC and Atlanta. I want to know which one is currently processing the renewal faster (within 1 week please). PLEASE YOUR RESPONSE IS MUCH APPRECIATED, would it be too much to also ask for someone's contact at the embassy who could be of assistance.
Thank you |

Trust you're keeping safe? This page has been pretty quite just thought to check in with you. IOMIOM: You're welcome dear. Yes, the panic is worse than the disease itself but I can't fault people from getting scared. Just like me, a lot of people don't want to fall sick takeless of getting infected with a virus that has no cure and is killing people. May God help us o.
Anyways, about employer, I'm sure there are some jobs that can't be done from home. Let's wait and see how this week will unfold. |

I still ask myself how the original inhabitants coped. Also folks that live in the shelters for one reason or the other and have to move outside during the day... I'm sure there will be official records of the number of deaths from cold during winter..... It's officially still summer yet the cold at night these days no be here o! 19CannyMum: A hail corridor that gets to -40° in winter, yet hits 40° in summer. Very harsh land, I definitely applaud the original inhabitants of this place, the who lived here centuries ago without the perks of modern technology.
Yet for all that nature deals, it gives back in sheer beauty.
Pic 1: Lake Minnewanka Pic 2: Enroute Banff from Calgary
Alberta remains one of the most beautiful places on earth, with so many points to touch base with unrefined nature. And Calgary is still a great place to make a living, and a great place to make a life.
We just need to get used to our new found oil poverty and we'll be alright! |

Thank you sir. Thank you for heeding the call. I am a life that was blessed. OakPearl: Very happy for you bro. Means we bought about the same time I first raised the "alarm". Imagine buying 1,000 shares at $14,000 (N6,580,000) then; and selling at the $89 you sold $89,000 (N41,830,000) never mind that it's now hovering around $124/share now which could have been worth $124,000 (N58,280,000)!
This tread is a divine mandate, and it will make many rich. Seriously!!! |

Thank you @Oakpearl for pointing us to OSTK. I had intended to hold for the long haul, but i fell my hand last week when the price started to fall but i must confess i had a good run. I entered at $14 and got out at $89. Waiting for a pull back so i can enter again. It is actually a stock to own. YerYer: FOMOed back into Overstock (OSTK). Wayfair (W) another online retailer of home goods has a market cap of over $31B while Overstock is just $5.3B. As we all know, many people are using this period to refurnish their homes hence the reason why online home goods retailers like Wayfair (W) and William Sonoma (WSM) have been on a tear. If you've been holding this stock since Oakpearl recommended it, congrats, I got out at $90. Plan to dollar cost average my position if it drops to $90. |

Do you have any reference as regards the taxman frowning against trading in your TFSA account? https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/tax-free-savings-account/open-a-tfsa.htmlThis indicates you can buy and sell. Its called self-directed TFSA Lalaska: Sold my Netfllix this morning after reaching their 52 week high @$440. I bought it on Monday @$383. We are making gradual progress. i want to do a mix of long term stocks (e.g. Apple and Canadian big 6 banks) and short term stocks (e.g. Tesla, Netflix). I cant do alot of trading in my tax free account not to incur the wrath of the taxman. Maybe Ill open another account that's taxable just for day to day trading. |

I hold this sentiments too. It most likely was a glitch thesilentone: I would think there was a glitch. TripAdvisor won't be getting any bookings for a few months due to Covid. The market might investigate. |

I'm pretty new to the market and have been spending my day reading and learning from this forum, Thanks @OakPearl for this initiative. My current dilemma is getting conversant with the stocks on the global market.
For guys in Nigeria, what informs your choice of stock, given the fact that we aren't too conversant with companies there. |

Thanks for checking in o! For some reason, I think the level of scare is higher than the reality of what's on ground. I don't take my health or health issues for granted but i think the fear and panic is uncalled for. Guys let knowledge lead our action, read up on available information when you can and follow the advise given by health officials but don't live your life out of fear. meanwhile, my employer should tell us to stay at home na! IOMIOM: Hello Guys,
How're we holding up with CoVID-19. Many developments have occurred just this weekend. In Calgary, schools (daycares, elementary and high schools) have been closed till April. I wonder how parents will cope at this time especially those that are still going to work.
Just like we've read and heard, please be safe. Keep your distance from people, only go out if you have to, otherwise stay put at home the virus is really spreading like wildfire and only us can help in preventing it.
Wash your hands as many times as you can Avoid touching your face, even if it may be so difficult at times Avoid touching surfaces like rails, door handles etc and if possible use your elbows instead....
That being said, the store shelves are surprisingly empty presumably due to panic buying. I understand people buying food products, antibacterial and stuff but what I don't get is the unavailability of toilet papers. I don't understand the correlation with this ongoing pandemic. Is it to protect people or what? I still don't get it and would appreciate some enlightenment.
God protect us all and don't forget to also protect yourselves.
Peace and Love |

Pm sent bro hayor2014: Salford1 is very correct,it's on 2nd Street, it's a Calgary housing company owned building , that's the reason for the below market rental price.. My friend who used it for just 6 months, got a job in Edmonton, hence the reason for renting it out. |

Tipping is not a culture I was familiar with back in Nigeria; the practice would normally be "oga!, anything for your boy?" and depending on my mood, i give. It's not the same here; it isn't mandatory but a generally accepted and expected practice and it's normally 15-20%.
Apart from tipping, what other cultural difference have you noticed, experienced or picked up?
Another one that comes to mind is holding the door for the person coming behind you......... |
