I will provide historical evidences of The ownership of warri by itshekris.
I will also provide legal documents certifying that your brothers are tenants in Warri when i am on pc. Right now am on mobile and cant really do much. Night will soon fall.
They will never negotiate on the terms of ijaws. A court of law admitted a document and you said it was rejected. I can assure you Itshekri will not take your pleading after the dissolution of Nigeria because you will never defeat them legally and since international order places emphasis on legality ijaws will have to plead. Remember there will be no veto among the security council on your behalf when the sanctions keep pouring in.
Ijaws are known land grabbers.
barcanista:
whiÇh is closest to "Warri" between "Wari"(Ijaw) and iwwere (itsekiri)? Let us not deceive ourselves, that ruling that was based on the rejected document cannot and will not be implemented by any autho®ity... Not even the Military could implement the ruling. That is to tell you that there are lots of discrepancies that is beyond a judge. They need to negotiate my guy.
Politics / Re: Untold Story Of How 14 Journalists Were Abducted-another Crisis Looming by seanet02: 6:56pm On Nov 19, 2014
Whatever way you want to interpret it, just remember that the highest court in the land has ruled that the whole of warri minus just 246 acres belongs to the itshekris and i can assure you the ijaws will eventually plead after the dissolution of Nigeria. Ijaws opinion cannot, will not and will never surmount the rule of law.
I can see you tactically dodging the legal victories of the Itshekris. They have already won. Just a matter of time.
barcanista:
bros it can also be argued that "warri" is the corruption of "Wari', an Ijaw word that means House, it also means "Family"

Iwwere. You cannot override the decision of the supreme court and i wont say more than that.
gentleoyink:

So what is the meaning of Warri in itsekiri or how was it derived from an Itsekiri word?

When you answer this, I will give you an Ijaw point of view as to how the name Warri came about.
Politics / Re: Untold Story Of How 14 Journalists Were Abducted-another Crisis Looming by seanet02: 5:17pm On Nov 19, 2014
Hypocrisy of the highest order. The word 'Warri' itself is an Itshekri word. I dont know if your belief must override the constitution which says the supreme court is the highest court of the land and that any decision taken there is final. Supreme court has taken a decision and ijaws must obey it or face the music.
barcanista:
The claim to Gbaramatu land by the Itsekiri is premise on the idea of Itsekiri owning Warri. If the Ijaws should reject the document by Numan they are equally saying that Gbaramatu Kingdom is Ijaw Town(of course the Itsekiris reject this position). Personally, I see the two ethnic groups having legitimate claim but the violence by Tompolo group is unnecessary even though I understand that Ijaws like to fight for whatever they believe in. Also the media should stop the castigation of Ijaw tribe and President Jonathan as this is not a matter he can handle with a fiat. For there to be peace, there must be dialogue and COMPROMISE from all sides.

They have lost in the court and that is final. I understand your partisan point which is very unfortunate. How dare cant they prove their case legally.
They have lost and will continue to lose. The day is coming.
barcanista:
An Ijawman doesn't give-up a cause or fight that he believes in. This is something you have to realise.

I don't subscribe to illegitimate detention of journalists or any other people by any group, neither do I subscribe to self-help, however, I see the legitimacy of the struggle by all parties. The ijaws and Urhobos from my preliminary findings have not, will not and will never accept the legitimacy of Numa, neither will they respect any agreement signed by Numa on behalf of Warri nor will they accept any court judgement or verdict that was reached on the basis of the document signed by Numa. So what should be done to avert Warri Crisis II? The answer is Holistic Dialogue. El finito

Losing a legal battle means you lose legitimacy over what you are fighting for.
barcanista:
From the Perspective of the Ijaw and Urhobo, "all the court judgement" that invariably favors the Itsekiri were flawed and unacceptable as the British had "illegally" recognized and contracted Numa, an Itsekiri Chief that "signed" the documents in which the judgement was decided on amid protest and rejection by the Ijaws and Urhobos even at the time of when Numa was recognized. This is from the perspective of the Ijaws and Urhobos.
Ordinarily, I should have taken position to back the Ijaws but because "Non of us was alive" when it all started, I insist that there is need for dialogue and compromise. The Itsekiris, Urhobos and Ijaws must holistically come to the table to see how it can be resolved amicably. I am still researching though but from my preliminary finding, the three parties have legitimate but conflicting case.

What sort of people will reject legal victories of a defendant when they were the one who dragged the Itshekris to court?
Read the last paragraph of what you posted again and you will know that the Ijaws and other ethnic groups have no claim whatsoever to Warri.
For clarity, the Itshekris accepted their legal loss over Sapele to Uhrobo yet same Uhrobo refused to accept their own loss in Warri.
Double standard of the highest order.
Ijaw leaders have no conscience and they will still lose out. That i can swear my life on.
barcanista:
that was an extract of a writeup I was reading from an "Urhobo site" as regards the court judegment and others. The case from this perspective project Warri as a tri-ethnic owned(by itsekiri, Urhobo and Ijaw) unlike the other article. I am NOT taking a position, I insist that there must be an holistic talks and serious dialogue to achieve "compromise" from all sides.

There is no more interpretation to be done.
The supreme court judgement was explicit enough.
The supreme court judgement was not ambiguos.
The privy council judgement was explicit.
The privy council judgement was not ambiguos.
They both clearly state that the ownership of Warri belongs to the Itshekris.
They also confirmed that the Ijaws were and will remain a tenant of the Itshekris in Warri.
I understand your appeal for peaceful resolution of the crisis.
The ijaws need to understand they will be the eventual losers at the end of day.
barcanista:
I am not privy to the legal action at the Supreme Court or Privy Council as I am not from Warri, however as an Ijaw(a proud one), I am not happy with the turn of event. In my earlier submission, I opined for a dialogue to resolve the issue. The reason for this is not to create an atmostphere of animosity. The Ijaws are not the problem, the dishonest government at all levels are the problem. We need a holistic solution and not a "war" solution. I back the call for legal interpratation of SC judgement or the ICJ if it warrant such.
Politics / Re: Untold Story Of How 14 Journalists Were Abducted-another Crisis Looming by seanet02: 10:01am On Nov 19, 2014
Ijaws are the main problem. They know clearly that Warri belongs to the Itshekris who have gone as far as the Supreme court to prove that the ijaws are tenants in the city of Warri. This are one the reasons why i want the division of Nigeria.
How the Ijaws will now prove they are the owners of warri at the international court is what i will waiting for.
They lost this case at the Supreme court.
They lost this case again at the Privy council in the United kingdom.
I can assure you that we stil have the same documents that ensured their loss at the supreme court and privy council.
We will teach them the lesson of their life when this faulty federation is divided.
barcanista:
OP we have a case here. While one will blame the Ijaw militants for taking laws into their hands and illegal detention, one has to understand that gun was found in the boat of the journalists/itsekiris. Obviously, it was planted by someone and that is a Shame.

For the EPZ we are clearly in a precarious situation here. Who owns the land? Who doesn't? Who's a tenant and who's a landlord? We can't get these facts by beating the drum of war or castigating and abusing Ijaw nationality(which is unacceptable). What we need is absolute dialogue committee made of young people, elders, religious leaders and representative of security agencies. We need an open mind to look into this issue so as to reach a compromise. The drum of war from both side won't bring solution neither will the media attack against the Ijaw Nationality. I hope something meaningful is done.

God bless Izon
God bless Itsekiri

It is unfortunate that the same rejected Elites and power hawkers that were rejected at the poll want to make the State ungovernable for the peoples Governor.
