It was Abiye Sekibo (SSG) and Poweriso Horsefall (Commissioner of Environment). When it comes to cultism u can't take it away from the Riverines. Violence is in their DNA.
In Amaechi's 7 years there has been no politically motivated killings/assassination or any militant(s) linked to the office of the Governor unlike his Bayelsa or Delta State counterpart. Which is why it seems as thou the Presidency has the upper hand. If Amaechi were from Okirika or Kalabari, chai chia head would have rolled by now.
It is on record that the Ikwerres Celestine Omehia and Amaechi chased out all the militants groomed by Odili and his riverine cohorts. Omehia chased Soboma George away from Marine base to Edwin Clarks house in Delta State and the Lion of the Tribe of Ubima Amaechi chased the dreaded Ateke Tom from his okichiri shrine to camp 5 to stay with his fellow criminal Tompolo and arrested the Amayanabo of Okirika and threw his sorry as5 in jail back in November 2007.
It is also on record that only Amaechi of all the ND Governors opposed the amnesty program by Yaradua insisting it was wrong to appease criminals but was prevailed upon by the likes of Alabo T Graham Douglas to allow the program. |

Your lame federal government can come to Abule Egba to collect tax but cannot carry out its responsibilities of fixing a road there. You need to see a doctor. oweniwe: so if a drainage gets blocked at abule egba, it is the duty of the fed govt to come all the way from abuja to clear the drainage?
If a drainage gets blocked somewhere in rumukoro (P.H), Enherhen (warri), ukwoji (awka), lafenwa (abeokuta) and water floods the federal roads there, it is the duty of the fed govt to go clear the drainage?
The senator, house of rep, state assembly rep, local govt chairman, all those environmental task forces... What is their job? To sit down and be eating and drinking their allocations?
Even you, what are your civc duties and obligations as a citizen of Nigeria? If the power substation tranformer cable in your area is vandalized, it is the duty of the fed govt to replace it? Na the fed govt vandalize the cable?
The fed govt builds a road... If a small pothole opens on the road, the fed govt should come all the way from abuja to cover it.... Is it the federal govt that is using that road?
"Who" is the federal govt? Is the federal govt one person? Are there not other roads and infrastructures that are in critical need of attention all over the country? Na one blocked drainage make fed govt come dey mobilize to clear.... If some people throw refuse into and block a canal when lawma comes around every two days to collect refuse, is it the duty of the fed govt to clear the canal??
There are lots of irresponsible people in this country. If a goat poo poo in front of your house, the fed govt should come and clear it.
Am sorry, i think you need to see a doctor. |

Ambode is a better risk than Korobucci duni04: I'm sorry but isn't that how we vote for public servants? Based on their achievements and record of service? Everybody keeps harping on how we knew little about Fashola before he became governor, but should we now make it a norm to just close our eyes and allow Tinubu pick our leaders for us because his judgement is unquestionable, spotless and perfect? Yes we were lucky with Fashola but who says we will be with Ambode? |

You are right to some extent. But that is the way in Nigerian politics. godfathers sponsoring their anointed ones. Just that Tinubu have a way of selecting performing governors. Sagamite: He does not appear to have. He spent 27 years as a civil servant.
That leaves the option of him being sponsored by the party. I read the article clearly and did not see anywhere where it said the party paid for it, that is why I called him a crook. |

Please let us see those water projects. ITbomb: Thank you Sir for the opportunity. I will deal with only what has impacted my life personally. 1. I can drive all around the major towns in Akwa Ibom without a single pot hole most of them dualized carriage way. Saving money that could have gone to mechanics n motor parts dealers. 2. I can drive comfortably from Eket to Port Harcourt on the near completed portion of East West road. 3. My neighbor earns an additional 20k every months by sweeping the street in the morning before going to her business. Money that would have gone to Swiss Bank. 4. I have not slept in the filling station even when the oil marketers are doing their strike . 5. I had 5 bales of clothing delivered to our project site in Lagos from Kaduna by train for 2k instead of 20k by bus 6. I feel nice and comfortable at the airport from Lagos to Uyo as all facilities are working. 7. I feel happy when the president is not using EFCC or threat to confuse governance at the state level. 8. The middle class is back and vibrant with great purchasing power.... 9. More classroom blocks, health centres and water projects have been built in the past 3 years than in the past 15 years 10. More to come I will not mention power because electricity is still poor in my area , though I envy Anambra State and part of Rivers State. However, As Longeria would say ' Your Excellency , you deserved a second term , you will get it ' |

You need to google search what Federal system of government is all about. Then you will understand the word "addendum of state administrative functions" beejaay: it will be dead on arrival because people like you are supporting the gorvornors to be using LG funds to settle those that support them without recourse to the indiginious community
rome was not built in a day, we cant get all we want the same day and time, we have to start somewhere and this LG autonomy is a very brilliant way to start..
LG autonomy is not yamayama but what the local communities really deserve.
Am sure u are no where close to the grassroot if not you will be aware of the atrocities governors performs with lg funds
am still waiting for why lg is an addendum to state govt and yet have Councillors |
Politics › Re: Lend Your Voice To Fight Gorvernors To Actualize Lg Autonomy by seanet02: 12:51pm On Oct 24, 2014 |
The hypocrisy of the federal government is heartwrecking. If they actually want autonomy for the local government, they must be ready to implement true fiscal federalism where the states are the one that will be collecting the oil royalties, taxes and other revenues before paying a stipulated percentage to the federal government. Fiscal federalism is the way, this yamayama they are doing is dead on arrival. beejaay: can you please explain what you mean by addendum?? what is the job of Councillors if LGs are just addendum to the state government
who says is wrong to adjust our own federal system of government to suit our culture and values for the progress of our communities |
Politics › Re: Lend Your Voice To Fight Gorvernors To Actualize Lg Autonomy by seanet02: 12:14pm On Oct 24, 2014 |
Local government cannot be granted autonomy under federal system of government. They are suppose to be addendum of the state government administrative function. barcanista: The Local government need 100% Autonomy and not tied to the string of Any Governor. It is a shame that governors now see LG as an appendice of their government. For God's sake LG officials are "supposed" to be elected, they shouldn't be at the mercies of the governors. They should stand on their own. LG's should be positioned to offer democratic dividends without recourse to the Governor. This act by the governors is absolutely unacceptable and shall be resisted. |
