good day wip4 , i've actually gone through the sask website and i intend doing MSc in Environmental science. the problem is the entry level requirement. i finished with a 2.2 in chemistry science, and i dont know how possible it is to get admitted to this course in your school or if there are waivers on the entry provisions, what i mean is i wouldn't mind doing a semester to make up for the ''inadequacy''. i'm not so particular about the school, but i'll rather a competitive institution. is it advisable to enter for a research or taught course mode, considering the level of financing been offered?
didnt get what you said about your details i.e email address on this thread. and which school is MUN; is it also in canada? guess i'd wouldn't mind if my course of interest is offered. thanx n i appreciate your help, looking forward to studying in Canada.

Education / Re: Preparing for GRE by seanpounds(m): 11:09pm On May 04, 2010
Hi all wink been a while, and thats cos i've been trying very hard to correct the avoidable programming error in one complexly designed machine called the COMePUTer.lol. Well at last i got the problem figured out, and i took the many risks involved before finding the solution. I actually had to disable all antivirus softwares and some other downloaded softwares, before i could run thr GRE powerprep on my Vista, and after i had it working (although with a funny looking screen), it actually lived up to its name 'a whole new experience'.
And so practice has started, although i felt it wasn't worth all of the trouble i went through trying to install the powerprep software aftterall, as i found there to be only 2 real simulated practice tests. Anyways, i've done the first one and i hope to try and improve on my score and speed, especially in the quantitative section. My score, well not too good v=500, q=430.
i wish the AWA could also be scored so i'd know how tight to buckle up.
i don't know if thats the feeling everyone gets when writting this exam, but mehn, jitters run down my spine at just the mention of GR-words! lol. it may sound funny, but its pretty serious, and it gets worse when someone around you knows your ''present'' phobia. i get constantly reminded of the GRE ''exam'' by warnings, you can imagine.
I just pray this present labour wouldn't have been in vain, and that it'd rather be joy and a point of refrence in the future to come.
Thanx SEFAGO, NETOTSE et al, you've been God sent.

Hi all, been trying to prep for my test that comes up soon. Its nice to read all these comments from you all. SEFAGO ur one hell of a genius with that profile, which i know is just the tip of your iceberg.lol. congrats to everyone whose secured one form of admit or the other, i mean conditional/unconditional or with scholarship,TA-RA/ without.
I feel like i havent really worked with enough materials to assure me of a high score on the GRE test, and i wouldn't know if anyone of you still have materials i can work with within this short time to up my chances of a better score. The ets.org website is so not up to the task to ensure that most of their practice materials are windows vista compatible. This has been a major setback to me, as i haven't been able to prctice in a test simulated environ. and it makes me not confident as well. SO PLEASE PEOPLE, HELP A BROVA OUT. Thanks.

N.B s(dot)r(dot)adesola(dot)gmail(dot)com is the email address to send all test preparation materials, deemed fit for the general GRE test.
BEST WISHES.

Hey we are in a similar field of interest. What I know for sure, about biomedical science, is that good schools usually interview and this plays a major role in being accepted. Its going to be hard doing that in naija- email and ask how interviews are being done before u apply.[/b]
thanks NKnight, SEFAGO, knew i could get the best possible advice from you. which schools would you advice i apply to, with my low GPA (2.2) in mind, and also ones that would not require interviews on personal basis? i'd very much appreciate your suggetions cos it would help me make apt decisions after my test,i.e when i'd be applying.
by the way, whats the cost for requesting that my test scores be sent to grad school?

nice job all, for keeping this thread active for this long, you seem ''virtuaGod sent'''to me at this time. i virtually spent the whole of today trying to digest and act where possible on suggestions on this thread. first of all i registered to take GRE test sometime in may, been practicing a while now though , but that feeling of not doing enough (fear) just still lingers. ive been working majorly with Barrons 2008, i find it hard to use most of the GRE materials online, cos they mostly dont work well on vista. i wouldnt say i'm an above average student, so i'd need advice on good schools (i.e reseach wise and cost effective, with some financial aid available to international students). i intend an MS/PhD in biomedical sciences or environmental science as my undergrad degree was chemistry science, just finished my nysc. i hope to get good advice and an evaluation of my chances after my test , but before then, i need to boost my present confidence level for the test.please advice me on which schools i should be looking towards and the merits. thanks once again, u guys are worth more than life savers.
Education / Re: Preparing For Gmat And Graduate School in The US by seanpounds(m): 8:18am On Nov 23, 2008
i applied to 5 schools, 2 had 2.75 as minimum CGPA while 2 had 3.0 as minimum CGPA while the 5th scholl didn't have minimum CGPA for international students
hi tboy, i would like to know which schools u said u found, that didnt require a minimum CGPA for foreign students, also the names of other schools to which you applied. would also like to know if these schools would require me to write the GRE subject test as i am a chemistry major graduate hoping to either study pharmaceutical sciences or environmental sciences. congrats on your test scores!
wouldnt mind having your phone contacts, for correspondence purpose.

thanks blackpro, guess thats true. i'd just take my time and have my youth service done before processing my second degree admission. i hope you'd still be available on this forum whenever that would be. "i would like to know ;
1. which schools (in the hot regions of the U.S i.e tropical weather states, with relatively warmer winters)would you  recommend for MSc in either of these courses,
Petroleum chemistry with management studies,
Pharmaceutical science with management studies, and
Biomedical sciences.
2. with a 2.2 (second class lower), what are my chances of getting this courses in the suggested schools.
3. please would you mind if i'd ask for your email address for correspondence purpose? thanks and God bless you smiley

thanks blackpro for the highly informative thread. i stumbled on it and it has been a good read all the way down. well i'm also preping for gre and i wouldn't mind a copy of the materials you talked about. i've been refused a study visa before, couple of years back by the u.s consulate, hope that wouldn't count against me now when they want to make their decision? for this 1 reason ,i have vowed not to do nada with the u.s, but as it is , my sponsor would rather i study for a masters in the u.s. guess i have no choice. i also wouldnt mind getting any other assistance you'd be willing to offer.thanks so much and God bless you.
