I don't understand. unless the Naira gains strongly against the dollar, I don't see how the forex earnings aren't baked in. With regards to the rights issue, raising more capital for a bank as efficient as GTB is a good thing.

Anyways, GTB is my second largest position. My main focus is FCMB. Those guys raised like N26b at 16%. Today rates are over 30%. That's easy money right there.

My oga please I am very much open to being told I am wrong. I love to hear counter arguments cause I may not be seeing something

Sure the Forex gains are baked in for this financial year. What happens next financial year? It's more like a one-off and not sustainable. That's why you don't see the price flying through the roof. Again, they are not allowed to pay dividends with the Forex gains and dividend is the major propeller of banks price appreciation.

On the technical angle, NGSEBNK10 is bearish with formation of lower highs and lower lows on the daily and weekly. Also the daily candles are playing below the Ichimoku clouds.

However, there is a recent volume spike and if NGSEBNK10 could break above the 860 region, we might witness a trend reversal. So, overall I am bearish on the banks.

Ahh talk too much. I dey my house dey sip my garri ijebu.

Romance / The Influx Of Ritualistic Practices And Cultism. by mumuman112: 11:32am
Good morning NL, I'm a journalist and I want to talk about the news I heard on the radio yesterday about a boy named Chima who lives in the Market Road of Ewuru community.

I live in Agbor-Obi. I have taken time to investigate this whole saga about Chima and his patner Lucky, from my investigations. It is said that a small girl told Chima to set this man who they both live in the same house. This girl is said to have given orders to these boys to disgrace this man through Chima who is going about telling people that this man wants to have carnal knowledge of this girl. As a matter of fact some girls her age whom they play together said this girl always hangs out with these guys and often treathing to call these boys for them if they mess with her.

Chima even went as far as telling people that this man used charm to talk to someone from inside his room. This boy called Chima is fond of blackmailing people and initiating young teenagers into cultism. Why would a small girl give orders to guys bigger than her age and these guys follow every instruction this girl has given them, it is also said that they pledge to this small girl to carry this effect in troubling this man which they have done too much already. What will they have putting this little girl into for them to pledge such a strong oat with her. Something is really fishing here. They are now grouping some set of people to testify against this man.

Chima is often bragging about how he has destroyed the image of this man in the state so know one will have anything to do with him plus he also said he will make a setup for this man in Agbor-Obi where Lucky and his notorious gangs are already policing this man everywhere he goes.

This same Chima who said this man does not practice fetish, now goes around telling people that this man used charm to talk to a person from inside his room. Now my question is: who is the person this man used charm to talk to and how did this Chima know that he used charm to talk to the person from inside his room? Did he see this man use charm? because he has made recordings to manipulate the minds of people with this allegation and it is said that he has an infection which his telling people that this man caurse him with a spell.

Some boys around Agbo-obi who are friends with Chima, said they will stage this man saying he was listening to what they were saying and that he wants to set all the yahoo boys up, that is what they all are doing as we speak. They want to make him look like a spy, which is what Chima told them to do. They have posted this man's picture all over the internet and every day on facebook they keep posting different pictures and videos of this man labeling him with what he did not do.

Chima always boasts to his associate about what he has done to blackmail this man and the setups he has made just to draw this man's attention, still this man does not look at his face nor talk to him. They even went as far to group themselves into 3 stages, so once Chima brings up a new allegation, these other two people help spread it all across the state.

It is said that Chima and his gang did this setup not just to tarnish the image of this man but to have him killed, my friend said Chima told his friends to open multiple facebook accounts and they are putting the pictures they took of this man using it to set their friends up on facebook.

Chima told his partner Lucky to open a Facebook with the image of this man which they took of him walking on the road, after that Chima called one of his gang that this man is trying to set them up, immediately he post's the picture of his friends, then he calls them to confirm it that this man has set them up, this is what he does to everyone who comments to the post he made on facebook to set this man up and it is also said that his also doing it to the people of Mafoluku in Oshodi where is man's from. Making them feel like it's these man that is doing it because he said some hate this man there.

He has done that to a whole lot of his friends, just so they all can support him to gang against this man because Chima talked about the things they have done to this man that if it gets to leak his in trouble, it's even said that Chima went as far as blackmailing his cult group using this man's name and image for them not to trace all he has done and for this he wants them to kill this man before his Cult group finds out.

According to Chima, this man does not talk to anybody and he does not mingle with people in the area. Now how will this man get to know of Chima's friends for him to set them up? It is said that Chima and his gang have a particular forum on facebook where they post these activities.

Now the recent surge in violence Organized by Chima along with his colleague Lucky and his gangs in the Ewuru community needs a significant concern by the Government, I'm calling on the army and other security agencies to intervene as this matter is really getting out of hand. This alarming trend, driven by ritualistic practices and cultism, has been a business as usual for Chima and his gangs.

The influx of Chima in Agbor has also raised criminal syndicates involved in various illegal activities. The lucrative markets of ritualistic practices, cultism resulting in a wave of violence among rival groups.

Compounding the issue of cultism-related violence is the involvement of ritualistic practices. Chima and his patner Lucky make use of traditional rituals to gain protection, power, and success in their illicit fraudulent activities. These rituals, often involving human sacrifices, and murder for ritual purposes, casting a dark shadow on their victim.

In addition to cultism and ritual killings, Chima and his Colleague are deeply involved in fraudulent operations ranging from online romance scam to business email compromise schemes. Recently, Chima has ordered all his partner who patronize him in his ritual money business all over Nigeria to keep posting the image of this to all cultism groups on Facebook and other social media just to have him eliminated because he said this man heard off their conversations at the middle of the night while they are carrying out their ritual activities in that community.

Chima who is the last son of his father, fair in complexion, 7.5 ich has an afro haircut is said to be living at the Market road in Ewuru Community there in Agbor, Delta State. once you get to the market road. His house is painted with a dark gray and white colour, it also has a sliding gate with a Versace logo on it. Also there's carpet grass on the side of the fence, it is also said that chima has a shrine in his house where he performs his rituals. I need the government to do a quick search in his house to prevent any loss of life.

Please I urge the intelligence agency to take this up in dogging out every beat of information of everyone who has been posting the image of this man all around the country as this will be a step towards eradicating fraudulent activities in Nigeria.

People with shallow arithmetic skills and poor vision say all sort of ridiculous things for political expediency. States need to raise IGR geometrically with human face.

Sports / Finidi Vs Osimhen: The Real Fact by Ebubedike93: 10:48am
If You Want To Know The Truth In The Finidi Vs Osimhen Saga, Read This Piece And Clear All Doubts

BY- ADEWALE AJAYI

Many out there saw the Finidi Vs Osimhen saga as just another player Vs coach disagreement that will fade away with time. To some, this is the perfect ocassion for the NFF to stamp their feet on indiscipline among National team players by coming down hard on Victor Osimhen.

This writer knows Victor Osimhen very well. I worked with him for close to two years as media officer of the Under-20 National team of Nigeria and I don't really need anyone to tell me about his temperament. We ate together, traveled together and spent the nights gisting after dinner.

I really don't need anyone to lecture me about his temperament, he is a warrior, fighter and above all, he is the most patriotic footballer I have ever seen or known. His passion in the green white green jersey is second to none. His hunger for success is unbelievable and he has got a big heart.

I remember that Under 20 Qualifier against Burundi in Bujumbura and the the victory against Sudan in Omdurman. On both ocassions, Osimhen rose to the ocassion even though he was nursing a knee injury and had to play in pains.

That tells you how passionate this young man is when dressed in Green White Green. So you will understand why he felt betrayed by comments allegedly made by coach Finidi George, describing him as unpatriotic. Such comments will hurt any true patriot especially when you remember the sacrifices. Let's not forget too that he claimed he called to inform the coach of his injury after visiting his doctor in Wolfsburg and also pleaded with the coach that he will like to be in camp to offer moral support to the boys at the detriment of his own comfort, which coach Finidi turned down

Nevertheless, there is always the need to apply caution and maintain a calm, cool and coordinated approach at all time especially when you find yourself in that position where many now see you as their role model, mentor or icon. As current African footballer of the year, Osimhen ticks these boxes perfectly and has even a grown to be classified as an idol to so many young footballers on the continent.

In an attempt to unravel all the miseries surrounding that accusation purportedly made by Finidi that Osimhen and a few others pick the games that suits them and that majority of these players are not patriotic, this writer has taken time to dig deep to find out what transpired at that meeting that was held inside the conference room of the honourable Minister of Youth and sports.

Now, what you sre about to read below, are highpoint of the meeting as narrated by two persons who were privileged to be part of the meeting and have agreed to talk only on condition of anonymity.

The Meeting That Matters

The NFF delegation to that meeting held at the office of the Honourable sports minister, was led by NFF president, Ibrahim Gusau. Also on the entourage are the NFF 1st Vice president, Anyansi Agwu, General Secretary Sanusi Mohammed, team secretary and director of competitions Dayo Enebi with NFF technical director Augustine Eguaveon completing the list.

The Sports minister Senator John Enoh has invited the NFF and FInidi to come explain Nigeria's dismal performances in those two World Cup qualifying games against South Africa and Benin Republic and profer solutions on the way forward. At some point during the deliberation, Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George was asked to speak and he poured out his mind, without holding back.

What did Finidi say

According to my source, Finidi heaped the blames on his players. He was furious with the way the players responded to National call-ups which some of us complained about in the buildup to these matches. My source said Finidi then went on to assure the minister and his employers, the Nigeria football federation, that he has absolute confidence that the Super Eagles can still qualify for the World Cup if all hands are on deck. He said, that he is surprised that a few players in the team have Godfathers in the NFF. According to him, if he tries to stamp his feet on certain behaviors in the team, some persons will remind him that the players in question, belong to either a board member or a top official of the NFF.

It was at this point that the NFF Technical director, Augustine Eguaveon cuts in and told Finidi, that to succeed as head coach, he needs to stamp his authority, be decisive and be brutal if need be. Eguaveon gave an example of how he banished Yakubu Aiyegbeni to the bench because the former Portsmouth striker who at the time was doing so well in the Premier league, thought he deserves an automatic jersey whenever he comes to camp.

Finidi then responded by saying he was going to change his approach henceforth. He said he will no longer tolerate these unpatriotic players in the National team. This was when he now said a player like Osimhen could have taken the risk and come play for Nigeria if he really wants to do so. This is according to my sources.

However, I am not sure that Finidi made this comment to indict Osimhen. As at the time he dropped that line, he was trying so hard to keep his job and make his employers see him as a man that can wield the big stick when it really matters. He was also just looking for a name to use to balance his thoughts and anger and Osimhen unfortunately, became the scapegoat.

At that meeting, the NFF didn't tell Finidi in the presence of the Sports minister that they had plans to engage a foreign technical adviser. However, he might have offended the gods by revealing during that meeting with the minister that some top guns in the federation, are Godfathers to players of in the Super Eagles and that explains why they are seen as the untouchables.

Little wonder, a decision was taken behind him, to employ a foreign technical adviser and demote the former Enyimba of Aba head coach to assistant coach. Immediately Finidi got wind of this plan, he quickly tendered his letter of resignation.

Infact, his first letter that was sent to the NFF, was not signed so he was asked to withdraw and sign before sending it again.

How did Osimhen get to know about what Finidi said or did not say?

It will also interest you all to know, that, there are top officials of Nigeria football that are on the payroll of Nigeria footballers. I know of a footballer that once gave an administrator in the previous board a wrist watch worth over €40,000. I am also aware that every Super Eagles team list comes with a price.

Before a Super Eagles team list is released, there are lots of interests at stake and most players, except the esterblished names like Osimhen, Lookman, Nwabali and a few others, come to the Super Eagles camp, armed with gifts for their Godfathers.

That is why these Godfathers will do anything to please the players in return. There are also those secretatiate staff that have their ears to the ground and push out these information daily to curry favours. So it baffles me, why anyone will be surprised that Osimhen got inside information of what transpired at the meeting. He is too connected and too rich to be left in the dark.

Now that it is established based on available facts that Finidi alleged that Osimhen and a few others are not 100% patriotic to the national cause, it is on that bases we will now judge that Instagram live video posted by Osimhen and pass a judgement thereafter.

Osimhen has no reason to go live the way he did and his choice of words on the day are not acceptable

Victor Osimhen is a Superstar of repute. The current African footballer of the year, a Nigerian player that is now idolized in Naples. I remember in one of my recent interviews with him in Abidjan, during the recent AFCON, I saw a few diehard fans who had traveled all the way from Naples to Coted'viore, just to support the best footballer after Diego Amando Maradona to have played for the club.

Putting all these into consideration, Victor Osimhen should know the weight of whatever comments he makes. He must learn to talk at all time to impress his fans and promote his brand no matter his frustrations, obsessions or irritations.

Secondly, for his personality, class and position, he shouldn't be the one speaking always, he should delegate these responsibilities especially reactions to sensitive issues like this one, to his manager, agents or trusted friends. Your choice of words also matters.

In all, Osimhen by that singular act, has demoted himself from that exalted seat of an icon in the hearts of his diehard fans. Attacking your coach the way you did and generalizing the attack to include Nigeria and Nigerians is demeaning to say the least. As a friend who cares and appreciate the talent in you, i am making this passionate appeal to you. Please go out there and do an apology to coach Finidi and everyone that is effected by your comments and rudeness. Say it for the sake of posterity. Trust me, I wouldn't have bothered to do this if I don't care about your present and your future. A stitch in time, saves nine.

Health / Cholera: Death Toll Rises To 37 As Lagos Records 401 Cases by Hart11: 10:47am
No fewer than 37 deaths have been recorded in the current Cholera outbreak, which has hit 30 states, including Lagos and Ogun.

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Health, Dr Kemi Ogunyemi, in a statement on Thursday by the Director of Public Affairs in the state Ministry of Health, Tunbosun Ogunbanwo, said the state had recorded an additional six cholera deaths as against the previous 15.

She said cholera cases had risen to 401 in the state.

On her part, the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, told one of our correspondents that the state had recorded one death and 14 cases.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, in its recent report, said from January 1 to June 11, 2024, over 1,141 suspected and over 65 confirmed cases of cholera, resulting in over 30 deaths, had been reported from 96  local government areas in 30 states.

With the six additional deaths in Lagos, and one death in Ogun, the fatalities are no fewer than 37.

The PUNCH had on Monday reported that the resumption of schools on Wednesday after the Sallah holiday could fuel the spread of the disease.

On Tuesday, the World Health Organisation, the United Nations Children’s Fund, and the International Organisation for Migration held an emergency meeting in Lagos over the cholera outbreak in the country.

Cholera is a food and water-borne disease caused by ingesting the bacteria— Vibrio cholerae— in contaminated water and food. Cholera can cause severe acute watery diarrhoea, and the severe forms of the disease can kill within hours if left untreated.

In Nigeria, cholera is an endemic and seasonal disease, occurring annually mostly during the rainy season and more frequently in areas with poor sanitation.

Lagos cases Giving the situation report in Lagos on Thursday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health,  Ogunyemi, stated that Lagos Island remained the epicentre of the outbreak.
The special adviser, who stated this in the statement by the Director of Public Affairs in the state Ministry of Health,  Ogunbanwo, recalled in the last update, that the state recorded 350 cases and 15 deaths.

The statement partly read, “Following the last update on the cholera outbreak in Lagos, which reported 350 suspected cases and 15 fatalities, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Health, Dr Kemi Ogunyemi, disclosed that the total number of cholera cases has increased to 401 across Lagos, with Lagos Island, Kosofe, and Eti Osa recording the highest numbers.“

Dr Ogunyemi revealed this today while providing an update on the outbreak after meeting with members of the Lagos State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre. She added that the death toll had also risen to 21, an increase of six from the previously reported 15 fatalities.”

According to Ogunyemi, the rise in cases was anticipated following the Sallah festivities, during which large gatherings occurred.

She, however, noted that suspected cases were subsiding across local government areas, particularly in previously affected LGAs due to the state government’s interventions and surveillance efforts.

The Special Adviser stated that the government, through the Ministry of Health and other sister agencies, was maintaining rigorous surveillance and monitoring of the situation and implementing planned programmes and activities to curb the spread.

She advised that citizens seek medical attention immediately if they experience symptoms such as watery diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain, general malaise, and fever, stressing that cholera treatment is provided free of charge at all public health facilities

In Ogun State,  a 62-year-old woman in Ijebu-Igbo has died of cholera.

Our correspondent gathered that the outbreak which occurred three days ago, also left five other persons hospitalised. The deceased, it was gathered contracted the disease from her son who is now among those hospitalised. The state commissioner for Health,  Coker confirmed the incident to one of our correspondents on Thursday.Coker said 14 cases of cholera had been reported from four local government areas; Ota, Abeokuta South, Obafemi Owode and Ijebu North.

According to her, five other persons had also been hospitalised. She stated, “A 62-year-old lady who contracted cholera from her sick son died in Ijebu Igbo. Five others have also been hospitalised across four local government areas of Ota, Abeokuta South, Obafemi Owode, and Ijebu North

“The cumulative total cases since last week are 14 with one fatality”, Coker said. She urged residents of the state to maintain good hygiene and avoid drinking water from unknown sources.“I want to call on Ogun people to keep calm and be on the alert for anyone with the symptoms of cholera. They should report any suspected case of cholera to our disease surveillance team”, Coker said.

Water analysis
She said this as the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, on Thursday, said it had initiated a water quality analysis following the outbreak of cholera in 30 states.

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Alhaji Aliyu Shinkafi, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday.

Shinkafi said the move was necessary following continued reports of outbreaks in many parts of the country.

He said the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, in response, had embarked on water analysis.

“In response to the outbreak, teams from the National Water Quality Reference Laboratories in Lagos, Enugu, and Sokoto have been dispatched to collect water samples and investigate the presence of Vibrio cholerae in the affected areas.“

Additionally, the ministry is coordinating with State Technical Working Groups and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agencies through the WASH in Emergency Technical Working Group to address the outbreak comprehensively,” Shinkafi said.

He said before the outbreak, the National WASH in Emergency Technical Working Group had already trained state working groups on preparedness, prevention, and response strategies, as well as hygiene promotion and water safety planning.

These states, he said, had intensified their community sensitisation efforts to reduce cholera cases and are promoting campaigns against open defecation, a known transmission route for the disease.

He however urged Nigerians to take precautions to protect themselves and their families by boiling or treating drinking water before consumption. On Thursday, the Commissioner for Health in Cross River State, Dr Henry Ayuk, said the state had activated an emergency response team to respond to any threat of cholera outbreak in the state.

The commissioner made this known in an interview with NAN Calabar.

He said, although the state had not witnessed any cholera cases since the current outbreak was reported, there was one recorded death associated with cholera around March 2024.

He added that “there was an outbreak of the disease in Obubura and Biase local government areas between February and April, with one death recorded during the outbreak.“That was about the only time we had a case of cholera outbreak in this state.”

The Osun State Government also said it had intensified sensitisation among the residents to prevent the outbreak of cholera in the state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Jola Akintola, while addressing the concerns about possible outbreak due to the large movement of people into the state during the festive period, highlighted measures put in place by the government to prevent the outbreak of the disease.

Giving an update about efforts to prevent the cholera outbreak in Osun, Akintola, in an interview with The PUNCH, said his ministry had intensified sensitisation, especially at motor parks and markets across the state.

He further said, “No suspected case of cholera in Osun till now, not to talk of a confirmed case. We have fliers everywhere and outreaches were being organised in some public places like moto parks and markets.“But as we speak, we have not recorded any suspected case. The essence of the outreaches I spoke about earlier is to educate our people on what they must do to prevent the outbreak of the disease.”

Meanwhile, a non-governmental organisation, Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa has urged state governments to address the underlying issues to curb the spread of cholera.

In a statement by its Media and Communications Officer, Robert Egbe, CAPPA noted that as the outbreak ravages, state authorities had been quick to issue safety guidelines and precautionary measures, but underlying issues needed to be addressed.“Cholera is an infectious disease that causes diarrhoea and severe dehydration and is typically spread through unsafe water and food contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae.

“The disease, even though preventable, is particularly vicious in areas where sanitary facilities are insufficient, and the availability of safe water supply is inadequate. As such, the resolution to controlling cholera lies in the effective management of public water and sanitation systems,” CAPPA’s Executive Director, Akinbode Oluwafemi said

As bad as Buhari was, he's still a lot better than this guy...I seriously doubt if this guy has ever spoken in the senate house.

We need dey do better scrutinizing candidates, cause imagine how far someone this unrefined slipped through our electoral process. It's why the whole talk of candidates not doing debates and hiding from public scrutiny is dirty yarns...someone like this Okpebholo guy slipped through the cracks simply by smiling a lot, raising hands to greet people in Esan, and buying beer and pepper soup for boys.

I don't think this guy slipped through any electoral process. The people who fielded and supported him know about his poor academic background, but they know the electorates value tribal sentiments and political clout over quality of leadership & competency.

The way they've been making the election being about Esan's turn just says it all.I don't know much about Edo state politics, but I want to believe He's probably one of the few Esan people with political clout & reach. And that's all. All those talks about him being an air brain no concern them.

Far from it.. most of those criticizing your wack songs are far away from their homes to make sure things go smoothly for people like Eedris.

It's easy to sit down and criticize.. when faced with the challenge to fix things, what can you do?. Can you think critically or outside the box in extremely difficult situations?.
talk is cheap.

Some of you can't even manage your small music groups of less than 5 artistes but expect the President of a country with over 230 million people to perform magic overnight with the spate of corruption and decay already in the system.
😂 It's interesting it's becoming clear to everyone Asiwaju was over hyped.

Over 25% of his 4 years you called overnight, when exactly will the day of renewed hope break, dakun?

These things need to be investigated, the government will be so insensitive if this cases are not investigated and hajj should be banned permanently for Nigerians, not to talk of government wasting over #100bn to sponsor it.

So far, this hajj has brought sorrow and mourning for Nigerians instead of peace and blessing.

Government must investigate hajj and banned it permanently

Well written... But would the religious fanatics in Nigeria listen to common sense? Someone died in Saudi Arabia, I bet they'd say it's "the will of Allah" because she died in Mecca... They won't investigate and they keep wasting taxpayer's money on Hajj, while the economy is crying for intervention.

No one asked him to perform magic. The issue here is Nigerians doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome..

We warned y'all about Buhari but you didn't listen, patience was said to be given to Buhari and he was given 8 good years of our lives and what came out of it? Nothing. During this same 8 years people like you and APC supporters supported Buhari and didn't condemn him until recently when he's no longer in office...

Same way we warned y'all about Tinubu but you guys still fail to listen again and now we are here and you're still clamouring for the same patience for him? You can't give what you don't have. Buhari didn't have it, Tinubu doesn't have it either the sooner y'all realize this the better.

I'm a yoruba guy anyways should incase you want to start thinking I'm an igbo..... I'm OMOLE is my surname.
